Tanzania: President Samia collecting awards ahead of the polls

If you don’t have popularity or have any proper achievements to show ahead of polls. That’s the time to give yourself some titles and awards. The Chama Cha Mapundzi (CCM) and the government of Tanzania is no different than other dictatorships in this regard. That President Samia Suluhu Hassan has gotten herself two awards now.

The President has gotten herself the Presidential Global Water Changemakers Awards 2025 and the Council for International Military Sports (CISM). In two separate ceremonies she has gotten this, as well, as driving a huge convoy to pick up her nomination forms and becoming the Presidential Candidate for the CCM. That’s what she’s been doing.

This election won’t be neither free or fair. Just like the previous ones. The CCM has no interests in ensuring justice or the proper representation in public offices. No, the President and the Higher Representatives will be installed and secured the massive majority for the ruling regime. The President and the authorities are there to ensure this.

The ones that are hopeful for the October 2025 elections are fools. That’s why Tundu Lissu is behind bars and CHADEMA is boycotting the affairs. The authorities has blocked the party already. So, the game is set and the match is already fixed. The others participating is only validating and giving credits to the CCM. They cannot win or even challenge CCM. If they would… they wouldn’t be on the ballot and will only be a fringe minority in the grand scheme of things.

These sorts of awards are to gloss over the procedures and the protocol that is used to stifle the opposition. Like it is supposed to look good and make a great impression of the President. Just like everything is on the up and up. Meanwhile, the grim reality is visible right in front of us.

The President and the CCM trying to play people for fools. These sorts of acts are created for making headlines and trying forge an image. However, the acts of the state and the implementation of it… shows the sinister acts of the state and what it is willing to do. That’s why the state is using it’s power and instruments to keep control.

The ones that cannot see it… aren’t getting the grasp of everything. All the laws of censorship and monitoring social media. All the means of controlling the political parties and their internal affairs. Those has been created and made to give the CCM more power. Therefore, these elections are just to continue to legitimize their reign. That’s it… Peace.
