A look into Doreen Nyanjura’s Response to the FDC’s Special Elders Commitee Report…

The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) Special Elders Report was published on the 29th July 2023, but given to the Party President on the 13th July 2023. That’s why many of us dwelled on it and analysed it on the 30th July 2023. Today one member of the FDC and the Deputy Mayor of Kampala, Doreen Nyanjura have published her response to it.

The report itself was insignificant and lacking. It was a minute after minute of meetings, but no real flesh and blood. Only there to jade the waters and make the accusers look bad. The vilification of Dr. Kizza Besigye was obvious and the leadership of Najjanankumbi has continued on that path. That seems to be the only way they go. This is why I want to find the most key aspects of Nyanjura’s rebuttal and see what she retorts with.

She starts by saying this: “Article 20 of the FDC Party Constitution spells out the composition and functions of the National Council. A glance at the said article will show you that the National Council must have 250 members at a minimum” (…) “In this case, we have been told [by Hon. Salamu Musumba who addressed the press after the meeting] that the report was adopted by 66 members (58 voted for and 8 against). This falls below the one third threshold of at least 75 members. Hon. Nandala Mafabi, a lawyer and accountant of all people ought to know, preach and practise the best governance practices at least for the deepening of democracy and transparency in the management of party affairs” (Nyanjura, 30.07.2023).

If this is the case, then the National Council Meeting on the 28th July 2023 can be seen as “null and void”. That’s if the FDC leadership is honouring the party constitution and abides the codes of it. Alas, it seems like the Party President and Secretary General doesn’t mind or doesn’t care as long as they are exonerated.

She continues: “With reference to the foregoing, the impugned report by the Elders’ Committee does not show any attempts to establish and follow the money trail save for the verbal submissions of the persons they interacted with. Without any evidence of investigative effort made by the said Elders’ Committee, the report is not worth the paper on which it was printed and therefore MUST never have been submitted to the National Council” (Nyanjura, 30.07.2023).

Here she is stating the obvious and the reason why the Report is a shoddy piece of work. The Special Elders Reports lacks findings, proof or evidence. It is only hearsay and doesn’t have any sort of substance, which would clear the air or prove things otherwise. While it only disclose minor interactions and alleged activities, which isn’t resolving the matter.

She continues: “The impugned report highlights an estimated figure of 2.7 billion shillings [according to the Secretary General], we are not being told how much was borrowed from the ‘legitimate’ sources. Other than the verbal submissions of the party officials, there is no alternative evidence on the amount of money that was borrowed by the party from or by the Secretary General” (Nyanjura, 30.07.2023).

It is just compelling how in the open this is and what sort of charade the publication of the Report is. As it is so easy to digest and break to pieces. Just this here statement from Doreen Nyanjura shows how flawed it is and lacking credibility. As it is just all talk and no proof…

She dismisses the Secretary General: “In 6.3.7, the committee further claims that Hon. Nandala ‘demonstrated’ (I don’t know how) that the money was from ‘legitimate’ sources and he intimated that the money he lent to the party would be paid back with no interest. In just one paragraph, Hon.

Nandala morphed from being a mobiliser of the money to the actual lender to the Party. In short, he was the one who identified the funding gap[amount] to be filled, mobilised the lender, quickly became the lender and then wrote off the interest before going on to appropriate and spend the money. So, Hon. Nandala is/was the alpha and omega and star of this movie of dirty money. Unfortunately for him, he does not satisfactorily answer the question of who was the ‘lender’ or source of this money. In such circumstances, a reasonable guess is that the lender is a ghost or a heavenly angel!” (Nyanjura, 30.07.2023).

There was surely some angle dust involved and some other cheap tricks. Because, the Secretary General Nandala-Mafabi doesn’t dwell on facts or speak of how he got the cash. While there is leaks and informants who has acknowledge the sources from the State House. Which is something that the Secretary General doesn’t verify or speak of. Just that it’s a “legitimate source” whatever that might be…

She ends with: “Those of us who are dissatisfied with the conduct of the Party President, Secretary

General, Treasurer General and their acolytes especially around this issue of dirty money and the lengths to which they have gone to create a miscarriage of any processes pushing them to provide accountability need to embark on wide consultations with the membership of the party while imploring the dodgy leaders to do thorough soul searching. It does not matter how far you have travelled in the wrong direction, as long as you realise it and retrace your steps and move in the right direction” (Nyanjura, 30.07.2023).

In this here response Doreen Nyanjura just shows how clever she is and how thorough she can be. It was impressive and had more insights than the Special Elders Report. This here shows the finesse and the character of her as a politician. She totally destroys the report and rightfully so. I did so too, but with another manner and way.

The leadership of the FDC is sadly corrupted and has lost their way. The conclusion of Nyanjura gives hope, but if the Besigye fraction is allowed to enter these consultations and sideline Najjanankumbi. I am not so sure about and it will create more tension. Just like when Gen. Mugisha Muntu started his consultations ahead of the launch of a “New Formation” and later Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). Therefore, the Besigye camp is practically going in the same lane and got to consider where to go from here.

This was a great document and answer. I wonder if the FDC National Executive Committee (NEC) or the ones mentioned will retort to this one. Peace.

Russia: The “Special Military Operation” in Ukraine is now a battle to safeguard Africa…

What are we fighting for? Don’t you see that our guys are giving their lives, not just talking, but defending with their lives the right not only of the African continent, but of all people on our planet to be free” – Russian foreign ministry spokeswoman, Maria Zakharova (29.07.2023).

Since the 24th February 2022 the Russian-Belorussian war against Ukraine was launched. The “Special Military Operation” which was coined term from Kremlin on the matter. While the Russians already spawned the conflict for years in Donbas and with the illegal annexation of Crimea. Therefore, the Russian invasion of Ukrainian territories isn’t new, but the escalation was all premeditated from Moscow.

Now as we are over 500 days of conflict. The people of Kremlin needs new excuses and new reasons to prolong the war. Now they are saving the world and the African continent by bombing Ukrainian cities. They are saving Africans by demolishing buildings, destroying fields and killing innocent civilians. Surely that is what Lesotho and Sierra Leone has asked for.

The Foreign Ministry Spokeswom Zakharova has clearly jaded her vision. The recent Russian-African Summit must be reason for this quote in a RT Interview yesterday. Because, it isn’t making any sense whatsoever. There is noting in it for Africa or African nations for that matter. This conflict is between Kyiv and Moscow. It isn’t fought for Accra or Addis Ababa.

The Russian war in Ukraine is on the basis of regaining lost territories and trying to forge a new Soviet empire. That’s the gist of things and that has been stated by President Vladimir Putin himself. Which shows what sort of salvation he comes with in regard to Ukraine:

The world is changing, and changing rapidly. And in order to claim some kind of leadership – I’m not talking about global leadership, but at least in some way – of course, any country, any people, any ethnic group must ensure its sovereignty. Because there are no intermediate components, an intermediate state: either the country is sovereign, or a colony, no matter how the colonies are called. Now I will not give some examples so as not to offend anyone, but if a country or a group of countries is not able to make sovereign decisions, it is already a colony to a certain extent. And the colony of historical prospects still has no chance of surviving in such a tough geopolitical struggle. And it has always been – I just want to make it clear – not like we are watching what is happening around us and with us, we opened our mouths: oh, wow! Yes, it has always been like this, you understand, and Russia has always remained, was at the forefront of ongoing events” (Putin, 09.06.2022).

This is what he said about Ukraine just last year. If the Russian President thinks like this about Ukraine. How will he value former colonies in Africa for that matter? He surely doesn’t have high regard or see much value in the former Soviet Republics, which he intends to annex or have a powerful grip over. Therefore, certainly the words of Zakharova is very shallow and insincere.

There is nothing in the war between Russian and Ukraine that is about saving Africa. Yes, there is the grain initiative and the export of grains from both nations. However, that is transactional and beneficial for the exporters. They are earning profits on the produce and gets goodwill by doing so. This wasn’t a problem or an issue before the war. It was just another Tuesday or Wednesday for that matter.

We know the Special Military Operation was about the legacy of Putin and his will to regain the lost territories of the Soviet Empire. That’s why he has called Ukraine a “mistake” and claimed it doesn’t have any “statehood”. While also calling it a former colony. So, the imperial Russians aren’t changing, but trying to play cool for outsiders looking in.

This is here is nonsense and should be held with contempt. Peace.

Niger: General Tchiani doesn’t accept any interference…

We are surprised to see the reaction of France, European Union and African Union.

We want to remind them that Niger is a sovereign country and no foreign pressure could divert us from the objectives that the CNSP has set itself” (Général Abdourahmane Tchiani, 29.07.2023).

We warn ECOWAS and its allies against any military intervention in Niamey, therefore we will be obliged to defend ourselves to the last energy.

WE ARE READY !” (Général Abdourahmane Tchiani, 29.07.2023).

On the 26th July 2023 the government of President Mohamed Bazoum was overthrown by the army. Army Commanders who was ready and they put him under house-arrest. They was lead by General Abdourahmane Tchiani and he is now in charge of the transitional government, which is called Conseil National de la Sauvegarde de la Patrie or the CNSP. It resembles the ones that are in Mali, Guinea and in Burkina Faso.

Gen. Tchiani wasn’t the first one people thought would takeover or be in-charge. No, that was initially mentioned Gen. Salifou Mody, who was a former Cheif of Staff in army and a diplomat. However, as previously stated it was the coup maker and the one behind it who was announced the interim President Gen. Tchiani.

Now, Gen. Tchiani is getting the pressure from the outside. The former colonial overlords in France wants him to step down and let Bazoum return to office. While the European Union, France and United States of America is freezing all aid to the nation. Also, in addition to the pressure of ECOWAS and African Union, which have separate meetings on the crisis in Niger.

Gen. Tchiani hopefully saw this one coming. Because, this here will not be easy. There is internal support and outside pressure. This is yet another Republic who succumb to the army commanders and in turn isn’t civilian lead. Instead they are run by the armies and their chain-of-command. Which is another structure and power dynamic than the ones elected through general elections. Therefore, the suspension of the constitution and other decrees are to be followed.

Gen. Tchiani will rule by decree and orders. He will become the personification of the state. That’s because everything is vested in him. The General has absolute power and can chose what to do with it. Neither is he elected or a man who was destined to be there. He took power and grabbed it in an instance. The General ceased a moment and found a weakness in the system…. Which in this regard he beat it and now is on top.

That’s why the pressure from the former colonizer comes and the Western allies does too. While we can be a bit amused by the ECOWAS and AU. As they are usually toothless and needs support elsewhere to do anything.

We have to wait and see how this one plays out. Certainly the mineral rich nation will be on the minds of the Western hemisphere. Just as it will be welcomed elsewhere too. There will be speculations about whose behind it and who profits from it. We know the French would be giddy, if they had toppled someone and gotten their “man” in office. They would fly in and Macron would be a part of the swearing-in. Like the French did in Tchad not long ago. Therefore, the morals of Paris isn’t to be trusted. Neither does I trust the morals of Washington D.C. as well. Not that I favour Moscow, because I don’t,… Imperialism is imperialism regardless of who does it. Peace.
