Opinion: Braverman is willing to endanger lives for political gains…

In London these days, it should be issued a warning, especially if you come across the Conservative Party or the Tories. They are the ones that doesn’t accept dissent or want any pushback on their horrible legislation or policies. In this regard, the Court of Appeal has justified to block the entry of asylum-seekers seeking refuge in the United Kingdom in the Third Country (Rwanda).

Kigali must feel the pushback too. They are the ones in question. While London should take the blame. They are the ones who has issued this protocol and planned this affair. While doling away money on the gravy-train that gives the Rwandan Patriotic Front (RPF) needed legitimacy. They are getting relevant and also useful to the Imperial British. That’s what is so conning here. This isn’t a sponsorship deal like the ones with Arsenal Football Club. No, this is the real deal and a gem of an arrangement for a tyrant like Paul Kagame. His getting the bag and getting London to fight his cause. All for the sorry souls and the unfortunate asylum-seekers who happened to get on the shores or cross into the United Kingdom.

Just read these here… before I continue…

“UNHCR notes that whilst Rwanda has generously provided safe haven to refugees for decades and has made efforts to build the capacity of its asylum system, its national asylum system is still nascent. In UNHCR’s assessment, there is a serious risk that the burden of processing the asylum claims of new arrivals from the UK could further overstretch the capacity of the Rwandan national asylum system, thereby undermining its ability to provide protection for all those who seek asylum. In comparison, the UK national asylum system is highly developed and well capacitated to consider asylum claims” (UNHCR, 08.06.2023).

“For the reasons given above, I believe that the evidence before the Divisional Court established that there were substantial grounds to believe that asylum-seekers relocated to Rwanda under the MEDP were at real risk of refoulement, and that accordingly such relocation would constitute a breach of article 3 of the ECHR and contravene section 6 of the 1998 Act” ([2023] EWCA Civ 745, 29.06.2023).

When you have read those… you see what the UNHCR and the Court of Appeals settled down with. There are reasons for questions and it’s honestly righteous at that. This isn’t even looking into the human rights violations, the oppressive regime or any of the “governance” of government of Rwanda. No, this is just the mere spectrum of how it’s operating at the current time with its own Asylum system.

“Those removed will arrive at Kigali and be accommodated at the Hope Hostel where they will be free to come and go. That has a capacity of 100. The evidence describes plans for further sites to be identified. According to the reception and accommodation Note Verbale they will be provided with mobile telephones with internet access. They will be given a temporary residence permit for three months on arrival. That will be extended if the asylum claim is not completed within three months. Those removed to Rwanda will be provided with financial support by the British Government in Rwanda at the same level they would receive in the United Kingdom during the asylum process, and thereafter, for a total of five years if granted asylum and up to three years if not. Those who make an asylum claim will be interviewed by the Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration (“DGIE”). The asylum claim would then be considered by the Refugee Status Determination Committee (“RSDC”). If the claim is refused there is a right of appeal to the relevant ministry (“MINEMA”). If that appeal fails, there is a further right of appeal to the High Court and from there to the Appeal Court. Only on the hypothesis that an asylum claim has failed at all four stages will the question of removal arise” ([2023] EWCA Civ 745, 29.06.2023).

When reading these things… it should infuriate you. Because this is what the Tories are willing to do and how it conducts its affairs. Alas… the Home Secretary will come bombastic with her own retort on the matter.

It’s, therefore, rich that Braverman said this yesterday…

“Importantly, Rwanda is a country where the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees itself operates an emergency transit scheme for migrants from Libya, and with which we have a robust agreement to protect asylum seekers from risk of harm. That first relocation flight was, unfortunately, frustrated by last-minute measures from the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg, which has had the effect of pausing flights while our domestic legal proceedings are ongoing” (Braverman, 29.06.2023).

When reading that statement from the Home Secretary after reading the verdict or the judgement. A man can only get so flabbergasted. It is the nerve and the manner of which she states things. It is really over the top and she should reconsider. However, she has dug herself into it and is willing to bury herself alive. Just so she can apprehend and banish people from the shores of the United Kingdom. That’s all she wants to do, and she doesn’t consider the implications of it. The risk and the lives at stake. No, it is all just a mere front to get rid of one “enemy” and one kind of people who dares to come to the United Kingdom. They should never even think of it.

This is just sad, tragic and hopeless. The Tories are so vile and has such little grasp of humanity. As they are targeting the weakest, the ones fleeing wars and the ones who is in the need of shelter. That’s who the Tories are after, and they intend to send them to Kigali… just so they are nowhere near London. Peace.

Sudan: Al-Burhan asks the youth to die for his cause…

“Therefore, we ask all the youth of my country and all those who are capable of defending themselves not to hesitate or delay in fulfilling this national duty in their respective communities or by joining the military units. By doing so, they will gain the honour of safeguarding the survival of the Sudanese state, which has been targeted by internal and external conspiracies.” – President Al-Burhan (Sudan Tribune – ‘Burhan calls on Sudanese youth to join the army’ 27.06.2023).

The war between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and Rapid Support Forces (RSF) continues in Sudan. The conflict hasn’t ceased after RSF or the Janjaweed tried to overthrow the Transitional Sovereign Council. It has been over 70 days and the spiralling violence persist.

It is striking that after so long time. That the General and Head of State, Al-Burhan turns to the Youth and the Civilians to save him. That’s what his doing with the general mobilization. This is because, his not in control and needs and advantage. He needs new recruits, because his not able to silence or strategically get rid of the Janjaweed.

Hemeti and his allies with the brutal force it uses is clearly in an advantage. They are not using ordinary military methods, but instead acts like a militia. The militia can suddenly ambush and strike at a conventional army. Which is what Al-Burhan, and his allies are feeling right now.

Al-Burhan wants to win and wants to succeed. The RSF or Janjaweed became too powerful and to big. Hemeti might thought he would have the last say and topple the last man in his way. Since, he only needed to takeout Al-Burhan, and he would be crowned King.

Al-Burhan is asking the same people he has killed, slaughtered and oppressed to fight on his side. It wouldn’t be any difference if Hemeti asked for the same. They are both bloodthirsty villains and warlords. I cannot spot a real difference, its only titles and what banner they operate under, which is different. Al-Burhan and Hemeti is two sides of the same coin.

Hemeti is in-charge and has been running a genocidal affair in Darfur. He has escalated the same means to other states. Al-Burhan has been a military commander under Al-Bashir and served his interests. While later silence the Sudanese Revolution, cause massacres and use dictatorial means to stop the civilian transition of power. Therefore, Al-Burhan or Hemeti isn’t anyone’s hero. No, his just another man of war and of arms.

We are now seeing a stalemate and Al-Burhan trying to get more manpower and troops. His asking for the people to save him. The same people he thought he could rule over without any accountability or transparency. Al-Burhan together with Hemeti has hijacked the revolution and tried to silence the civilian organizations fighting for a civilian government.

When Al-Burhan goes out publicly with this. We should expect forced conscriptions of youth in Sudan. It is a way of warning about it and that he will take every able man to fight in his war. This conflict is a battle between two warlords and one trying to use the civilians as his pool of manpower. That’s deliberate and Al-Burhan wants to be a legitimate statesman.

However, no one should be shocked or in awe. Al-Burhan and Hemeti are blinded by power and hunger for it. This is why they are enforcing violence and open warfare in the Republic as we speak. There is nothing noble about it… and the ones joining the SAF is fighting for one man instead of another man.

There will be nothing good coming out of this and the bloodshed will continue. The pursuit to gain power by any means continues. Peace.

Sierra Leone: What was the rush, President Bio?

“There are No Winners or Losers in this Election But Sierra Leoneans with different political affiliations, United in our Desire for the Economic growth, Social Progress and Love of our Nation” – President Julius Maada Bio (27.06.2023).

The dust didn’t settle, and the smoke didn’t even clear before the incumbent had taken the Oath of Office for his Second Term as President of Sierra Leone. President Bio did it on the same day with little or no fanfare. Just a haste and speeding running the developments.

President Bio statement after being announced said this: “This victory is for Sierra Leone, as we have once again demonstrated that though our tongues, tribes and political persuasions might differ, we are united in our desire to see The Land That We Love, Sierra Leone, prosper” (Bio, 27.06.2023).

We could see this one coming. The President and his allies would cement themselves in office. He had just one term and intended to extend his reign. That is the obvious one now. He just let the world assume that he got the least margin and the smallest “win” possible to avoid a run-off or a fresh Presidential Election for that matter.

The SLPP will continue to harness and control the authorities in Freetown. That’s the truth here. The APC and Kamara wasn’t strong enough or had the abilities to sway the institutions. The ECSL and others was following orders and ensuring Bio a “victory”.

The National Election Watch (NEW) is already undermining and questioning the results better then anyone. The words of APC’s Kamara is maybe the right one. However, NEW is proving the misgivings and the problematic release of tabulated results, which doesn’t seem legit at all.

That’s why Bio might have sworn-in himself and taken the oath. He is maybe busy scheming on what he will do in his second term. Nevertheless, he isn’t the righteous heir or the one that should be on the throne. His just occupying it and doing it regardless of what the voters said.

Kamara said this yesterday: “My compatriots. We have heard the unfortunate announcement of the elections results for the June 24 Presidential elections by the Chief Electoral Commissioner Mr Konneh. It is a sad day for our beloved country. It is a frontal attack on our fledgling democracy. These results are NOT credible, and I categorically reject the outcome so announced by the electoral commission. Meanwhile l thank each and everyone of you for your trust and confidence and for standing by me. I acknowledge the efforts of our local and international partners who stood for transparency and democracy. I will rise above this travesty, and I commit myself to continue the fight for a better Sierra Leone” (Kamara, 27.06.2023).

We can all see it. Especially, the ones that has read the NEW Statement on the results. We understand why Kamara is reacting and writing what he did. President Bio is hurrying things and settling things way to soon. Because, he doesn’t want to be questioned or have proof of the “victory”. That is too hallow and to unjust to be shown.

Sierra Leone deserves better than this. We know that Bio will use force and intimidation to stay in office. That why the APC Headquarters was attacked after the polls too. There been state sponsored violence in Freetown after the announcement of results too. Therefore, the election and the results isn’t as unifying as the President wants the world to believe. He wants everyone under his banner and pronounce him the winner. However, he also fears for the truth and that’s why he took the oath moments after the announcement of results. If he feared nothing and was sure about the results. The man and the institutions would have waited.

Regardless of what you think of Bio or the SLPP. The actions of late and how they have conducted themselves is questionable at best. If you are true victor. You don’t rush the taking of oath and swearing yourself in. Doing that in a haste without any proper announcement shows it all. He didn’t have enough time to have neighbours and fellow Presidents to partake in the affair. It was done so fast that nearly no one was there.

“Election is don don” but the results will be questioned. Just like the act of taking oath in milli-second after the announcement of results. It is so questionable, and President Bio might think it’s wise, but it just shows how he wants to run a “one-man” show and disregard everyone else. Because, doing this… only undermines himself and his legitimacy.

For one simple reason. Who does it and why did he do it so quickly? What was he afraid of? Were the likes of NEW undermining him and the authorities that he resides over or what?

I don’t have the answers. I’m just baffled at the speed and the manner of which the leaders have chosen to do this. It isn’t a good look either. No it is a unjust one and he got to live with it. Peace.
