Opinion: RTGS Dollars are Bond-Notes on steroids!

Today on the 20th February, the Governor John Mangudya of Zimbabwe Reserve Bank have launched a new currency in the Republic. This is the second time within the amount of three years, that the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) have launched a currency.

Because on the 26 November 2016, the same authorities launched the Bond-Notes. As that currency been struggling ever since. As the promise of 1:1 Forex Exchange between the Bond-Notes and US. Dollars. However, that haven’t been the issue, as the Bond-Notes been weaker than that. Significantly weaker, but the authorities have played around like it has the same value.

The RBZ have launched the RTGS Dollars, which are fully named Real-Time Gross Settlement Dollars. In all means of the name is real long name for a currency. Even the RTGS Dollars sounds like insignificant transaction. Because, the RTGS is like a crypto currency, a digital one, where the amount of RTGS Balances + Bond-Notes = RTGS Dollars.

Therefore, the RTGS is based on the liquidity of RTGS Balances, which means the Mobile Money Transactions plus the Bond-Notes. That is showing the lack of value in the currency before even starting.

What is showing the nightmare of the whole Bond-Notes of 2016 is relaunched today in 2018. It is just repacked and they hope this will maintain stability of the exchange rate. However, it is now the whole multi-currency system in a boiling pot and they hope it becomes a tasty stew, by blending in a new feature. Which seemingly is built on a transactions system, instead of a assets and liquidity built into a stable financial market. As the currency is supposed to be trusted and be a state instrument for transactions. Instead, here it is built on shaky grounds and just awaiting to sink.

The governor of the bank has in 2017 called the economy an albatross. Certainly with the RTGS Dollars, that is not changing. As the unfortunate ideas continues arising and they think these will solve the lack of foreign exchange and the lack of input into the system. However, they are not thinking straight and unlocking new scary scenarios. As they are now trying to shield the Bond-Notes, get them into the digital transactions of the RTGS Dollars, which would hopefully get more funds into the system. It might infuse more funds, as these are returning and become taxed by the RTGS taxes. That is surely securing the values and lack of trust in the Bond-Notes, which now will be transferred to the RTGS combined with the RTGS Dollars. That later can be changed again into the US Dollars. That shows the weakness of the whole system. Just like it was with the Bond-Notes alone.

The RTGS Dollars will be devastating as the launch of Bond-Notes. This is just another storm in a glass. Now, the state and republic can just await another hurdle. The RTGS Dollars will be as hectic or maybe even more than Bond-Notes. Even if people are familiar, the reality is that US Dollars have been the saving grace and even civil servants wanted their salaries paid in that.

Therefore, the current future is the new digital currency, the RTGS Dollars will be a rocky road. How it will be? Who knows? But the launch of Bond-Notes was a mess, this will surely be no different… Peace.

Opinion: Tendai Biti is another casualty of the reign of Mnangagwa!

If your where thinking there was coming a new Zimbabwe in November 2017, you where wrong, we’re all wrong. The goblin, Robert Mugabe might not be in office in his advanced age, but his henchmen and his military leadership is there. Therefore, the ZANU-PF isn’t acting better. They are even more retaliating heavier against the opposition.

The latest casualty is Movement for Democratic Change – Alliance (MDC-A) own Tendai Biti, who has been a vocal critic of the regime. He was last year because of the Post-Election Violence. As he tried to flee to Zambia for asylum, the authorities retrieved him and deported him back to Zimbabwe. They “assisted” him back for investigation into the Post-Election Violence, that rocked the capital on the 1st August 2018.

However, what has happen today is an extension of the actions of the authorities last year. They are continuing to pursuit unhappiness for the opposition leader.

Which said this on the 31st August 2018 after the polls:

The results show beyond reasonable doubt that we have won this election and that the next President of Zimbabwe is Advocate Nelson Chamisa. These results were extrapolated from V11 forms that in some cases were posted outside posted outside polling stations in compliance with the law and in some cases handed over to our candidates’ agents in compliance with the law. We now hope that the Zimbabwe Electoral Commission (ZEC) will follow its Constitutional and legal obligation defined in the Electoral Act of formally announcing the result that is consistent with what we have gathered through our own parallel voter tabulation process. As you know we set up command centres in every constituency…” (Xaxa – ‘Nelson Chamisa Has Won Election And Must Be Sworn In: Biti’ 31.08.2018, link: https://news.pindula.co.zw/2018/07/31/nelson-chamisa-has-won-election-and-must-be-sworn-in-biti/).

Because, the Opposition leader said this at the Press Conference on the 31st August 2018 at the Morgan Tsvangirai House in Harare. He has gotten into legal jeopardy, as his words are used against him. As the challenge of the election and the polls are contended. Since, the state and regime is going after him for saying it. It touched a nerve, as they are taking way his rights to say or announce results, which is not done by ZEC. That is what the state says today to all citizens.

Today, the Harare Magistrate Gloria Takundwa charged him on two counts, where the lawyer broke the Electoral Law. As he today either had to pay $200 or spend a week in jail. So, he was found guilty of crimes. The Second count, which is yet not fixed is where he could spend 6 months in jail.

This is all because he said Chamisa won, instead of Emmerson Mnangagwa, a President incumbent who also said this on the 31st August 2018: “Good morning Zimbabwe, I am delighted by the high turnout and citizen engagement so far. The information from our reps on the ground is extremely positive! Waiting patiently for official results as per constitution” (Takunda Shumba – ‘ED Mnangagwa claims victory? Chamisa warned elections could be reversed, rigged’ 31.08.2018, link: https://zwnews.com/ed-mnangagwa-claims-victory-chamisa-warned-elections-could-be-reversed-rigged/ ).

So, we can see that Mnangagwa was allowed and got into no issues proclaiming victory. He came with an online video on the same day as Tendai Biti said his peace at a Press Conference. This again, shows he different use of law and how it always sticks directly to the MDC-A, but ZANU-PF gets off the hook.

Well, we know that this regime is a type that retaliates and is vicious. That the ZANU-PF has shown, again and again. This is just another one, who is picked out and shown as political target by the regime. Because, the state are not initiating anything against the President or even a warning for his words about this, but Tendai Biti is fair game. Peace.

Zimbabwe: Kadzere, Hungwe & Mandevere – The Firm letter to Speaker of Parliament – “Re: Our Client Honourable Themba Muswa – Threats of Death and Personal Security by Honourable Dexter Nduna” (13.02.2019)

Opinion: Nduna MP, there is no honour among thieves…

“Don’t call me a thief, I am saying this for the last time, don’t call me a thief, I have people who I killed who I don’t even know,”Dexter Nduna MP

I don’t know if Dexter Nduna, the Chegutu MP, the Zimbabwe African National Union – Patriotic Front (ZANU-PF) noble and representative said in Parliament, as there was a heated discussion on Monday, the 11th of February 2019.

What is striking how easy it was for the man to say this, that he had killed. That he says he is responsible to taken lives, that he doesn’t even know. That means subjectively, that there are plenty of people, which he have killed without people knowing. Also, that he has gotten away with it too.

Also, should be said, is that MP in question is known for using violence as an election tactic. Meaning, he has fired shots during primary elections and sponsoring it for his cause, himself. Therefore, him saying he has killed someone or somebody. Might, even be an understatement, because who knows what he did during the election campaigns in 2008 and 2013. To be elected and get in office.

Therefore, who knows what he has done and sponsored on his road, in elections and in Chegutu constituency, as he boosted so strongly about on Monday. We can clearly, see and state, that there is more to follow and there should be an investigation.

Because, the man, has a problem with thieving, but not issues with murder. Nduna has at least not pulled off the perfect crime, because he cannot keep it tight. His lips are far from sealed, when he get into an intense argument. However, these words shows to what extent, that he does to get in power. To what extent he will go, to get his way.

It is chilling and cold-blooded. Just like when the President is deflecting and saying, he needs evidence for the sinister acts during the shutdown this year. We can see a party, who promotes and who has no scruples. They are a den of thieves, crooks and killers, who are congregating in the halls of power. Instead of sealed of cells and in secrecy.

What is clear, even as vicious and vindictive the man is, he is not the brightest. Because, these words that was said, was recorded and went viral. They opens up a can of worms and he to answer for those. We knows, that ZANU-PF shields their own, but for how long, when someone as toxic as this hangs around. Peace.

Opinion: Legitimize rigged in leaders won’t create good governance!

I know that this should be a day of celebration. It is supposed to be, because there been a sort of peaceful transition in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In any fashion, that should be elevated and put a smirk on your face. However, with the instance of the 30th December 2018 Elections, there are to many open wounds and lack of transparent counting, announcing and also acceptance of the results from the Constitutional Court. To be able to throw the information away and forget it. That because of the lingering speculation of the inside deals between CACH and former President Joseph Kabila.

That is why I don’t celebrate the inauguration of Felix Tshisekedi on this 24th January 2019. Even if it as peaceful transition. Because it is a lie. It is a fraud. It is not a electoral victory. It is a pyrrhic victory. President Tshisekedi isn’t the first one with this issue. It is becoming a bit to common. That certain elections are like this, where the whole election are made to ensure a certain result and if not. There will be problems after, prolonged time for announcing the results and media/social media /internet blackout. While the Nation is awaiting the final results and plan the inauguration. This has happen so many places.

That is why Nelson Chamisa claimed to be the winner in 2018. He claimed to have won the popular vote and that the ruling regime had rigged the results in favour of Emmerson Mnangagwa. Therefore, the President could continue and we see today, what a party does with the guns against the people. As the Zimbabwean Ruling Party uses all tools to oppress, because they don’t respect the will of the people.

That is why Raila Odinga claimed to be the People’s President in 2017. As he claimed to have won and that the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) rigged the Fresh Presidential Elections in 2017 so that President Uhuru Kenyatta could have his second term.

That is why Dr. Kizza Besigye in 2016 claimed to be the victor in the General Elections of 2016. This is after the famous Kiggundu Math of the Electoral Commission and sudden victory of the 5th Official Presidential Term of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (who I claim is on his seventh).

The same can be said about several other elections, where the opposition has claimed victory. Where they have been rigged away and been thrown in the wind. That is why the leaders can run wild. They can acts as they please, just paying of the ones who stands in their way. The leaders can use their ways, as they are rigged into power. They are just using the elections as a way to be legitimate, but not representing the public. That is a trick. They are tricking the world, using the ballots as a weapon. Not using it to represent them.

Therefore, Tshisekedi are now doing to Lamuka’s Presidential Candidate Martin Fayulu, what Kenyatta, Museveni did to their opposition. They have cheated the ones who could lead and run their republic on the trust of the people, not altered results to fit one paradigm.

So, when these leaders got that position on a lie, on a fake result and without being truly representative of the people. That is why they can live after the saying, Taxation without Representation. As they can tax the public, but not represent them. They can be a sort of colonial entity, who is within society and be the public, but in the end it will not represent the people. It takes it money, but doesn’t have to provide government programs. Other than some PR Stunts and Display of it, somehow. Because, they are only acting and not actually doing.

These leaders are doing it and will continue to be self-serving, they where selected in by any means. Rigging the ballots, rigging the Electoral Commission and ensuring one result to get them in. They didn’t get in by the means of the people, but by boiling/cooking the numbers to fit a prefixed narrative, where one person would carry the mantle.

So, when you celebrate Tshisekedi today, when you celebrated Kenyatta or Museveni. You celebrated a pyrrhic victory, you celebrated ghost ballots and algorithms, not the will of the people. Therefore, you can see how Kenyatta and Museveni govern. Don’t expect Tshisekedi to govern differently, he doesn’t represent the public, but the ones who got him there. The deals done in the chambers of power, not what the ballots did say on the 30th December 2018. Just like the 2017 and 2016 rigging did too.

So, please, celebrate, but if the thieving goes on. When the atrocities goes on. When the lack of good governance or transparency from the government. Expect it to continue and be rampant. As the leaders could rig themselves in power, they could take power without the need of people. Therefore, the leaders doesn’t need to serve them or develop it. They can just preoccupied with eating and being Big-Men.

Big-Men who are living by the simple paradigm of taxation without representation. Where the Big-Man lives above the public, where the Big-Man can do whatever and allowed to do, but will tax the public for everything. Because that is the power of the State. Peace.

A look into the Motlanthe Report on the 1st August 2018!

Today, Kgalema Motlanthe Commission who was appointed by President Emmerson Mnangagwa to investigate the 1st August Post-Election Violence in Harare have released the Report on the Investigation today. However, what is vital before reading this report, is that the President has recently promoted the Commander behind the violence, this being Anselem Nhamo Sanyatwe, who has gone from being a Brigadier-General to Major General in the Presidential Guard. Therefore, don’t expect much pain to befall the ones who did the crimes. As they are already vindicated.

With that in mind, lets take the gist from the report:

The demonstrations which became riotous and caused extensive damage to property and injury had been incited, pre-planned and well organised by the MDC Alliance” (…) “Six (6) people died and thirty-five (35) were injured as a result of actions by the Military and the Police” (…) “The demonstrations started peacefully in the morning in front of Harvest House, MDC Alliance headquarters, and degenerated into violent protests as the demonstrators split and moved to HICC, ZEC Headquarters and ZANU PF headquarters (western side of the CBD) and ZANU PF Provincial Offices (eastern side of CBD) as the day progressed” (…) “The fact that the Police were severely depleted because of duties at polling stations throughout the country and that they were ill- equipped did not help the situation. As the demonstrations degenerated into a riot, the Police were overwhelmed” (…) “The deployment could only have been avoided if the Police were adequately experienced, better equipped, sufficient in numbers and more suitably organised. While recognising that in the circumstances, the deployment was unavoidable, the Commission considers that it would have been preferable if the Police had been able to deal with the situation on their own” (…) “However, the use of live ammunition directed at people especially when they were fleeing was clearly unjustified and disproportionate” (…) “The use of sjamboks, baton sticks and rifle butts to assault members of the public indiscriminately was also disproportionate” (…) “The Military should conduct an immediate and full audit of its standing orders and procedures for engagement in law and order enforcement operations, including riot control, in order to identify in an appropriate public report the lessons learnt and the tailored safeguards and targeted training to be undertaken to prevent any ill-discipline that could lead to loss of life and injury in the future on the part of its forces in highly politicised, tense, and stressful situations of crowd control. This would include the firing of warning shots not in accordance with its standing operational procedures” (…) “Those particular members of the Military and the Police found to have been in breach of their professional duties and discipline on the 1st of August 2018 should be identified as soon as possible for internal investigations and appropriate sanction, which should include hearing from the victims and their families for impact assessment and to provide the necessary compensation” (Mothlanthe Commission, 2018).

This is what I see as vital information from the Report. It really says the gist. This is the parts that says what is needed to know. It is the basic basis of what happen on the 1st August 2018. As there was violence and acts from authorities.

What I found striking was this:

The whole demonstrations started peaceful, but when the police got worried about the situation, they called in the Police and Army got into it. Than, the stirring of the pot and the violence got into play. The Police is ill-disciplined and the Army wasn’t following protocol concerning use of warning shots or live-bullets. They we’re acts who was disproportionate, they acted violently against the civilians who was not armed. That is the reality. The Commission has found the army and police acting vile. They we’re attempting to quell the demonstrations, but they seemed also to amplified it. That is how you can look into the report and understand it.

What is also special about the Commission is the blame on the MDC and the speeches there, but they didn’t say anything about the President or what he had done until the polls. Only that both parties had direct inflammatory speech. It wasn’t only Chamisa who spoke, it was also Mnangagwa too. That is if you follow the campaign, you could see it too. The hostility wasn’t a one-way street, there was to parties fueling this, but the Commission was ONE-SIDED on this manner. As they pledges in the beginning that the President is on the journey to inclusive and reconciliation of the Republic in general.

Nevertheless, the Report is saying something important that the Police and Military needs to investigate the ones behind the violence and harmed the public. That is hard to believe it will happen, as the Commander gotten higher ranks recently. This is a gift of pleasure, as the President offers a favor for favor. The President wants loyalty and therefore, giving him a higher position. That is the reality and why I don’t trust the Army to look into itself. Unless, the Operation Restore Legacy starts to work backwards and shots the Vice-President in his leg. But that will not happen. We all know that, only the naive believing that Mnangagwa do something after promoting the Commander behind the violence.

Pretty please, lets Pimpin’ Curly talk the business, because everyone else knows how this goes. ZANU-PF will not target itselt. They are only targeting the opposition and the men who stands in their way. Peace.

Democracy dies on the altar of Stability!

“the crisis of democracy” as when normally passive and apathetic populations become organized and seek to enter the political arena to pursue their interests and demands, threatening stability and order.”Noam Chomsky

I know, this is our time paradigm and it isn’t a shift of policy, just a ignorance of the mere fact that dictatorships and totalitarian affairs gets to linger, because the international stakeholders rather see stability and military efforts to control the population, instead of a tolerant and transparent democracy. That is just the mere reality, it isn’t fiction.

This happens again and again, it rebounds and recharge after every contested and questionable election. Now in Zimbabwe, previously in Kenya last year and in Uganda the year before. It doesn’t matter if the head of state rigged themselves in and used the army to silence the population after. As long as they are stable and loot their nations at a steady pace. It isn’t happening on our shores, so why should the international stakeholders suffer and make the public lose faith in the institutions. They are moving forward and showing some signs of democratic values, even as belittling as letting them have a rally or two without interference of the police.

Therefore, this get boring as this sort of play get back-to-back, no return and steady road without any redemption. Only more of the same old suffering and toils in the midst of oppression. We see no salvation and not turn of events, where the mere factors changes. It is just the same old story with new names and new charges put on opposition leaders.

If not there will be ‘Unity Governments’ where the loser reign supreme and the winner begs for breadcrumbs, where the rigging master get the head of state and military, while the real winner get meaningless positions and a title not even worth the print of ink. It is just a mere puppet show the façade to look beautiful, while the population and the ones who govern knows it is just a play. They could be shooting a movie and not run a government, because this is just nonsense. They all know it, but they have to secure donor funding and legitimacy.

This is the sort of game we play, we return to it, as the opposition is tarnished, called terrorists and hooligans, while the democratic playing field is shrinking and no one seems to care. Unless, you’re the President and you’re the VPs bitch, because you cannot pressure the VP or the army, since they hired you to be the head of state. That is why Mnangagwa will speak of tolerance and unity, but will not challenge any solider killing innocent civilians, than he plays against the ones who hired him.

The army will hold Kenyatta in force too, and they did with their assaults on the public after the Fresh Presidential Elections, as the did their duty in Kisumu and Kibera. They really went ahead with violence and killed civilians. Just like the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) did after the 2016 in Kampala and elsewhere to prove their majesty, his excellency Museveni all power.

Therefore, this game is getting old and stale, where the ruling regime is eating of the plate, taking it all and only leaving pain for the majority. It isn’t funny, but the same old play we have seen before and no one seems to really care. They accept this and doesn’t really challenge it. They are putting out statements: We condemn. But a few minutes later, they will not do anything about it.

We are just moving in circles and it isn’t funny. Democracy is dying and it does it on the temple of stability. What is the value of stability, if the elite eats 99 % and the 99 % eats the 1 %. It is worthless, as worthless as these “elections”, where the handpicked Gentlemen are doing as they please and has no consequence. Seriously, what value does it add? Other than for some empty headed businessmen who eats of the electoral tenders. Very little are to gain for the society or the stakeholders. Just buying legitimacy and race to the supreme.

Just getting tired of this scheme, of this race and of these sort of play. It is time to get serious and engage properly, respect the ballot and the will of the people. Not just use that election for the little regard regime so they can stay afloat for another term. That isn’t cool, screw stability, when it only leads to power-vacuum and a more intolerant society afterwards. Peace.

Opinion: Tsvangirai, the man who had deserved to be President!

There are some fellows walking on this earth, who has deserved with their persistence and leadership, with their potential and their spirit. That they are justified to become President. The way they are and their aura. It is rare and unique. Morgan Tsvangirai and his Movement for Democratic Change – T (MDC-T) had deserved to carry that mantle. The way he carried himself through the oppression and the hacks who took him for granted.

Tsvangirai has proven to resilient and strong, he got played, but still showed his character. No one would have judged him if he had given up after the Second Round Elections and the rigged affair of 2008. With all the merciless use of force and the obvious stolen elections. Someone could have given in and said enough. Instead, he shown his leadership abilities. The way he continued to build his party and take a path towards a better tomorrow.

Tsvangirai shouldn’t just be remembered for being the main opposition of former dictator Robert Mugabe, who ruled until last November 2017. Who kept him away from the office and from the Presidency, by all means. Tsvangirai tried by all means to get there and used with peace. He didn’t want to take power by the guns, like Mugabe did and never left. He was tricked by the Global Political Agreement that made him Prime Minister, even if he won the 2008 election. That shows the conning ways of Mugabe and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) helper Thabo Mbeki. His weakness of Mbeki and wishes for stability by any means. That gave Mugabe a freeway to stay in power.

Therefore, Tsvangirai was risked on the alter and ZANU-PF, the Mugabe Presidency lingered on and the MDC-T and the MDC turned into different fractions. That is why it’s with time become the MDC-Alliance. Where some has given up Tsvangirai and others still has hope for the man. Even if he has been sickly and weak, there has still been hope that he could run against ZANU-PF new President Emmerson Mnangagwa. However, today we know, that Mnangagwa doesn’t need to fear Tsvangirai. His body gave way and he finally got peace.

Tsvangirai has fought a battle, he has risked it all and seen comrades die in the street. He has campaigned for a just cause, he has done it with swift actions and persistence. No one can take that away from him.

He has often spoken of not retribution against the regime, against Zanu-PF and Mugabe. Even as he has used the military and police to stifle the MDC. This Tsvangirai did even with the International Community and with communications, which been leaked in United States Embassy Cables. Therefore, Tsvangirai proved his legacy and his wishes of peaceful transition. Not making the same mistakes as in the past of violence and retribution. That could have been understandable with the violations and the harassment of the MDC. Still, he wouldn’t budge and give-in.

That is leadership and consistency. He had deserved to win in 2008, he won it in 2008 by my definition. It was ZANU-PF and SADC who gave it Mugabe. Tsvangirai knew this, but on the alter of International Pressure and a transition, while struggling with hyper-inflation. He gave in and gave way to Mugabe. This is sooner used and his men got the powerful positions. While Tsvangirai was the galleon figure to the international community.

There are people who says he lost 2013 because the party was confused, well, it wasn’t like he would have had the same backing or powerful message after been in power as Prime Minister. A position made to shut him down and not give him enough to be a problem for Mugabe.

Tsvangirai has run against Mugabe since 2002 and has had decent results, he shown that character and resilience matters. I think that he would have been a worthy successor and would have made changes worthwhile. He wasn’t an international stooge, but the world wanted someone else than Mugabe. Mugabe had gone from Liberation Hero into a totalitarian dictator. He had shown his despicable ways. That Tsvangirai proven to different from and wanting a peaceful transition.

Tsvangirai tried to cross the bridge, he tried to find the peaceful means to cross and get there. He worked for over a decade as a Presidential Candidate in the MDC-T. He had deserved to win and be it. Even during the worst economic crisis in near history. MDC could have mustered a direct change and not just a challenge to Mugabe.

Tsvangirai seemed like much more. MDC-T and could have been a great President. However he never got to call the shots, he got played and was tricked. If he in the end became tired and not as fierce as in the past. That comes with age and with experience. There is just as many times you can try the same thing and seeing no change.

Tsvangirai died today, not fool, not a loser, but a legendary politician who fought for the betterment of Zimbabwe and for its people. His service to the country should be remembered. Also his trials and tribulations. The MDC wouldn’t have a power struggle and leadership question of late, if it wouldn’t be for the foundation built by Tsvangirai.

That is just the result of the work done by Tsvangirai. This shouldn’t be forgotten.

Tsvangirai shall not be remembered because of Mugabe, but because of how he fought and did what he could to stand against him day in and day out for years. If people give up and start farming, instead of fighting dictatorship. That would be natural, but Tsvangirai didn’t. That is inspirational and should show us all. How to carry and try to make change into the society you wish for. Not that all tricks and all sorts of play work. However, you cannot deny that he didn’t do what he could.

Tsvangirai, your a hero and a lost one now. But your legacy and your achievements will be inspirational for generations to come. Peace.
