Opinion: Stoltenberg got to prove his worth now

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) has a massive hurdle to pass over. As French President Emmanuel Macron and the French government is reacting to a secretive alliance agreement between United States of America, United Kingdom and Australia (AUSUK).

This agreement or alliance is not only shaping the military alignment in Indo-Pacific sphere, but in Europe as well. The Biden Administration has with this thrown more shade and fire on a fickle organization. Which was already bickering and had lot of internal strife’s.

It is not like NATO has been running smoothly in the Trump era. No, it has been raised havoc and Trump has caused diplomatic furore over his actions. However, Biden is causing even more damage by selling sub-marines and making strategic agreements without considering close allies. This is not a wise move. The United Kingdom has been a running mate of Washington D.C. since the time of Tony Blair. So, it isn’t new on that front and post-Brexit this is just showing their own way.

Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg has a huge burden on his hands. Not only clean up the mess left behind from Afghanistan and other missions associated with NATO. Now he also has a diplomatic task of epic proportions. He has to sit-down and discuss with all the allies. Stoltenberg has to appease the French, meet with Biden and zoom-call Prime Minister Scott Morrison. Because, this has to be settled.

NATO will pay a price for this. The levels of distrust the French feels might goes to others as well. Just like the Turkish are closing the waters of the Greeks in the Mediterranean. The Turks have blocked a Maltese vessel from doing it’s scientific mission in Greek waters. Therefore, Stoltenberg doesn’t only have Macron and the French to appease.

An alliance like NATO builds it’s structure on trust and protocol. This was not only business of military industries of the French, but of their pride as a sovereign within an alliance. They were promised and this wasn’t kept. While the NATO members haven’t talked or been upfront about things. That hurts the pride of Paris and surely they will feel betrayed by their allies. USA and UK might not care, but do they really want more friends anyway?

Stoltenberg has to be clever. He got to be wise and hopefully he got good council at NATO. Since these troubling times will not be easy on him. He has to stand stall until the end of his office in September 2022. Stoltenberg has had the office in 2014 and he thought the idiotic times Trump would be bad enough. However, this will be his biggest personal challenge.

As the Secretary General he has to be strong, confident and humble meeting these Head of State. Stoltenberg needs to confine and find time to build trust. He needs reassurance and security on behalf of the alliance. While trying to forge relations between Macron, Biden, Johnson and Morrison. These has to appeased and feel the vibe. That will not be easy. Yes, Stoltenberg is a seasoned politician and has touched upon trouble before.

Nevertheless, this will be a huge operation. It cannot be saved by speeches or poetic statements. No, this is mending wounds and healing relations between allies. That will not be easy. Especially, when the French says it could even ditch the whole alliance. This is why Stoltenberg have to show character and do it quick.

If NATO is still going to matter. Stoltenberg have to prove it and he got to show courage. He needs to go to Paris, Washington D.C., London and Canberra. Stoltenberg needs to show his whole skill-set of diplomacy and political game of compromise.

This will not be easy. Stoltenberg has to pass over this mountain with a proper compass or a map. He needs to follow streams, use his gut-feeling and follow the lights on the horizon. There will be no second chances and he got deliver. NATO depends on it….

Stoltenberg has to prove it’s validity and it’s value. While building trust…. that’s huge task and it’s his to bear. He got to carry it and resolve the matter. That is an unforgiving mission, but that’s what he signed up for when he accepted the office. Peace.

Opinion: Biden is lukewarm coffee Part II

We have now for some time seen the real deal of the Biden Administration. The people have been appointed and hired. The Democratic President Joe Biden who took over after a shambolic and snake-oil salesman in Donald J. Trump. Biden had the world ahead of him and with some promises of changes during the campaigns. However, the U.S. is more of the same and not a vast change from the Trump administration.

The U.S. government is still bombing Somalia. Selling weapons and arms to Middle East allies who fights wars in Yemen and elsewhere. The U.S. is still caging and detaining asylum-seekers. The President is maybe not crying foul and wanting a wall. However, the detention-centres are still a viable industry and the President has not shut this down. Neither has he address the ruthless and injustice served by the ICE agents across the Republic.

Biden is clearly lukewarm coffee. He is not hot coffee or cold coffee. No, his the boring and adherent liquid you drink in need, but not because you enjoys it. It is a tragic blend and misuse of good coffee. As you let it become lukewarm and that’s why it’s not a tasty cup of coffee.

President Biden is just that. This is why he cannot forgive student debt by Executive Order. Neither could he or his administration configure the relief for millions of people as the pandemic and lack of steady salaries possibly could evict millions of citizens from their landlords. He has just suspended the payments and the rent will sooner or later haunt the tenants who has to either save or move out at one point. While they will struggle to find another home or flat to live in.

President Biden has also made it impossible to find a measure to make Medicare for All a thing. Neither opening up for a public option. Therefore, the man who was beside Obama with Obamacare and additional measures with Medicaid. The current administration is even more mediocre with that after years of dismantling this by the Trump Administration.

Biden and his government is just a light-Republican edition. There is little to no real changes to see. Especially not from a far. The so-called “progressive” representatives and senators in the Democratic Party haven’t done much either. They are nice in the media and making statements in the press. However, they are not amending laws or policies which follows their “progressive” ideals. It is more of a posture and selling out to the rest of the Corporate democrats. Therefore, there is little difference between the “moderates” in the Democratic Party and the Republican counterparts.

This is why Biden bipartisan works makes sense. As the Democratic Party and their works are so much alike the Republican. Only difference is the party and the donors. The Democratic Party have the majority, but by what they have achieved. It doesn’t look like it. The Republican party is still in sort of control and giving the Democratic party a majority seems like a failure. Since they are not using it or trying to do what they promised.

Biden and the Democratic party will suffer and possible be hit in the mid-terms. That’s because they had the majority, but acted as a minority. They didn’t even try or use their authority for common sense polices. Policies that is popular by the general public and across the board. Yes, the donors and the budget would be bloated. However, it is not like the previous administration cared about that. The fiscal responsibility shouldn’t only be held by Democrats while Republicans can spend like drunk sea-men. This is why Biden could have spent vast funds on student debt and Medicare, which would have made legendary. However, he rather be a moderate and corporate politician who could easily be branded with an elephant instead of the donkey. Peace.

US Election 2020: Hey young world, do we need to know about Pennsylvania?

As the world are following with a kind eye the 2020 Elections in the United States of America. Nearly any citizens needs to know what happens in Hicksville, USA. Like it should matter to the villagers of rural communities in far away land. People who will never visit the United States or have any interests in what is happening there anyway.

It is just like they have been the Empire, but they are not anymore. The US have been losing ground in the world. That is their own making by ditching international agreements and not following protocol with international bodies, which the rest of the world does. The dropping out of the Paris Agreement and others have weaken the US standing in the world. It is just a matter of time before the Republic’s debt and debt-collectors keep calling. Then, the US government cannot spend like it does and have the current advantages it does have.

Alas, why should we care if Wisconsin does this or that? Utah? Pennsylvania? Do we care about William Penn and whatever he did? That Pittsburg is the capitol and Benjamin Franklin opened a Zoo. We as international citizens shouldn’t need to know this. Should we care what happens in Harrisburg?

That is what is weird about this. How the sudden fixation with minor voting districts and gerrymandering of the United States. In a nation of a duopoly with the Republicans and Democrats. They have both held the power and inter-changed. Mixing it up and flipping states.

These combined with the money in politics, the use of Super-PACs and other techniques. The US system where the Courts and the party can change the rules even after the first ballots are cast. Clearly, the US system is far from perfect … and has lots of misgivings. Still, this Republic has the audacity to lecture others. When they have far from a grand Democracy to begin with.

This is why as an outsider it feels weird to wonder how Pennsylvania is going. Why should I care about Pennsylvania or Utah? Arizona or Flordia? Care about Florida because George W. Bush had the Supreme Court to vouch for him and now possibly Trump got the same?

Now its a battle between Trump and Biden. Biden seems to win, but in this system. There will be litigation and possible twisting changes to alter it. Even the Electoral College can put the whole votes out of whack. So, in mind with that the popular vote is outbalanced by a second electoral body. If that doesn’t work… then you have the Courts and if that doesn’t work. You have the Supreme Court to end the polls.

The US Election is important even if the US is a failing giant. It is stumbling and walking in the shadow of former greatness. It has been a Republic going to war and using imperial means. That is why some are favourable of the Republic and others despise it. Some hope it falls into obscurity and become a big Banana Republic. Which have been the trajectory under Trump.

Now that might change with Biden. They might alter its racist and xenophobic ways. Also, become more friendly to asylum seekers and refugees. Going back to its ideals, but we cannot know. What we all should ask ourselves.

Should we care what happens in Pennsylvania? I don’t know, but it shouldn’t have priority for everyone. Yes, it is still a big deal who is the President of the US, but we shouldn’t need to know how they vote in Harrisburg or in Pittsburg. Peace.
