It has also launched multiple offensives against Tigray Defense Forces (TDF) positions. If the reports about the skirmishes are true and the actors behind it is well known to us. The leaders of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) and Semeret or the Tigray Liberal Democratic Party. These are now making their differences into an armed conflict. That’s the matter here and that’s because they know the game that is played here.
The rumours that Reda was building a private army or militia has been in the wind. There been reports and possibility of so. Which stated that he would train people and arm them in the Afar Region. They being called the Tigray Peace Force (TPF) wouldn’t be surprising, but it is compelling. As Reda are now allied with the Federal Government and a high-ranking official within the state. His a useful pawn for the Prime Minister and the Prosperity Party. They can easily use him as a pawn to destroy and deplete TPLF completely.
It seems like the battlefront and the battlefield of the Afar Region is because of the location and the proximity of the Tigray region. Now Getachew Reda is sending Mekelle and the TPLF warnings. Mocking them and saying they should not fight. He continues to vilify the TPLF and state it as an ally of Eritrea. Though there been no proof of this or any connection, as Eritrea was a Tripartite Alliance member in the Tigray conflict. Therefore, it would be interesting to turn it around and become an ally with the former enemies. Nevertheless, we never know until the truth has seen a light of day.
What is striking is that the TDF is going into the Afar region to attack a Tigrayan militia trained there. A militia and armed group, which is created to invade and overthrow the TPLF in the Tigray region. That would be the best thing for Abiy and the Prosperity Party (PP). He wants them gone and consolidate power completely in the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia.
Here we are and there is reports of possibly 25 TDF dead, but nothing is verified by now. A conflict between TDF and a TPF in the Afar Region is a possible start of a bigger conflict. It might seem like a small fraction and one division of the TDF going into the Afar region. However, there is more at stake here… and could possibly give reasons for Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) to return with arms into the Tigray region. This because the TDF breached the Pretoria Agreement and now has the ENDF any excuse to retaliate. Therefore, we have to follow it and be alerted, because this could get bloody very quickly and become more warfare in a war-torn region of the Tigray region. Also, continue the proxy war within Afar region, which only hurts this region as well.
That’s why we have to monitor this and be worried. This seems like a continued conflict of the power-play within the TPLF. As Getachew Reda wants to retaliate and get weaponry to takeover from Debretsion Gebremichael. That wouldn’t be shocking, but shows that they rather settle these sorts of scores with guns, instead of with the will of the people. Peace.
