Ethiopia: Baytona leader claims the ENDF are preparing for another “invasion”

Kinfe Gebreyohannes, a leader of Baytona, a Tigray opposition party, says the Ethiopian army is nearing full operational readiness. According to him, almost the entire army is approaching Tigray from multiple directions. In the Southern Tigray direction, two ENDF commands stretching across the Dessie–Woldia–Kobo corridor are moving toward Raya. Two additional large forces—made up of Republican Guard units and the 3rd and 8th mechanized divisions—have achieved combat readiness in North Shewa. In the Afar direction, a combined ENDF army command—comprised of the Southern Command (led by Lieutenant General Solomon Etefa) and the Northeastern Command (led by Lieutenant General Asefa Chekol)—is at full combat readiness and approaching Tigray from the east via Chifra. In Western Tigray, the Northwestern Command (led by Lt. Gen. Birhanu Bekele) has been reinforced by the 5th and 8th mechanized divisions and the redeployed Western Command, previously stationed in Wollega. ENDF’s Central Command is expected to be redeployed to Tigray soon” (Yonas Nigussie, 16.02.2026).

This sounds like the acts, which was made before the 4th November 2020. That’s when the Tripartite Alliance attacked Tigray Region and made the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) designated as a “terrorist organization”. We are seeing the same thing now.

The Tigray Defence Force should be aware and be alert. Mekelle should call Addis Ababa and try to mediate before another conflict comes to their homes. The villages and towns will be assaulted. There will be tarnish and destruction in a region that’s still suffering from the last conflict. The Tigray region isn’t rebuilt or even returned to normalcy after the signatories of the Cessation of Hostilities Agreement signed in Pretoria, South Africa. That Pretoria Agreement haven’t unleashed new peaceful means or ability to regain structure of the region. Instead it has been stalled and been a stalemate.

The Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) are not only enlisting retired soldiers and preparing for more war. The ENDF have been moving troops around. This will be a “Final Offensive” or a new “Operation Law Enforcement”. Meanwhile, the Eritrean Defence Force (EDF) are reported have incursions into the Tigray region. Though that’s not verified, but been claimed for weeks now by the Federal Democratic Republicof Ethiopia. We can just wonder if this is true or an excuse to invade and claim Eritrean forces are collaborating with the TDF. That’s what the Addis Ababa wants to say and will swiftly do. They will most likely state that and say the PFDJ and TPLF are now allies. Even when there is no proof of this and it’s just another fallout of former allies in regards to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. A man who has burned most bridges and all of his goodwill on the altar of war. That’s what he does and everyone should recognize that.

We have to wait and see when the ENDF acts. The ENDF will act eventually and especially if these statements are verified. That the troop movement is encircling the Tigray region. This looks like the beginning of the “Operation Law Enforcement” and now it is done in early 2026 instead of late 2020.

Years go by, but the Prosperity Party and the PM is a warlord who thrives on war. Conflict and murder in the air is what gives him life. Peace.
