She was charged with inciting violence and remanded until Feb 17. Authorities allege she urged attacks on NRM supporters in Dec 2025” (Arua City Journalists Association (ACJA), 06.02.2026).
“The National Unity Platform (NUP) Deputy President for Western Uganda, Jolly Jacline Tukamushaba, has been arraigned before Kabale Court on charges of allegedly inciting violence against supporters of the NRM. Tukamushaba reportedly went missing on the eve of polling day, 15th January 2026” (91.2 Crooze FM, 06.02.2026).
“Bright Muhumuza, NUP’s Ankole regional coordinator, has resurfaced after weeks missing and was Wednesday produced before Mbarara Chief Magistrate’s Court under tight SFC security. Muhumuza, a former NUP candidate for Mbarara City South MP, disappeared on Jan 14, 2026” (Celeb Patrol UG, 05.02.2026).
There is a talk of close to 3,000 National Unity Platform activists and supporters who are behind bars or kept in detention as a consequence of the General Elections of 2026. That’s a vast number, but there are high ranking officials and important leaders of the party, which are behind bars too. They have been kept incommunicado and no knowledge of where they were kept until they are suddenly arraigned in courts.
This here is telling of how unfair and rigged the polls where this year. When the state and the law enforcement is acting this way against the opposition. They are not even hiding it or trying to small cases. No, they have tried to undermine and intimidate the whole party of NUP. That’s the gist of it. This is why so many of them was taken away…
These three leaders are just several out of plenty. There so many horror stories and where we don’t know their whereabouts. Where the state keeps them in the fridge and doesn’t allow them freedom. There is no due process or rule of law here. Only blind violence and usage of force. A military enforced rule and they are doing this systematically.
This is now their modus operandi. It is who the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are, and this is how they want to be remembered. This sort of misuse of power and force on civilians. They are making people prisoners without any justification or any sort of evidence or even any criminal conspiracy. These people are just kept behind bars because of their political affiliation.
The three leaders are apart of the National Unity Platform (NUP) and this is why they are detained indefinitely. These people have been kept for weeks with uncertainty and without prior knowledge to why they are there. It is all flimsy and done with disregard of their rights and their liberties. This is just who the NRM are and what they are proud of promoting.
If you believe in the 2026 General Elections and the results announced. Well, they are rigged and jaded, because who needs to do this to the opposition. If you are a proper winner and the one who got so easily the majority. That’s why you know things are wrong and everyone should be aware of this. Peace.
