Five (5) people were killed and thirty-three (33) others injured due to artillery shelling that targeted the city of Al-Dilling. The attack was carried out by the Rapid Support Forces and the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement–North (Al-Hilu faction). The shelling struck the neighborhoods of Freish, Al-Marafid, and Al-Hilla Al-Jadida, causing civilian casualties and varying degrees of damage to homes and property. Health facilities in the city received the wounded, some of whom are in critical condition, while medical staff are working under extremely difficult circumstances.
The Sudan Doctors Network strongly condemns this systematic targeting of residential neighborhoods, describing it as a blatant violation of international humanitarian law that puts innocent civilians at grave risk—especially with the use of heavy artillery in densely populated areas. The network affirms that the continuation of such actions exacerbates citizens’ suffering and further deteriorates the humanitarian and health situation in the city.
The network holds the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM–Al-Hilu faction fully responsible for this systematic targeting and calls on the international community, as well as UN and human rights organizations, to take urgent action to pressure for an end to attacks on civilians and residential areas. It also calls for providing necessary protection to residents who have begun voluntarily returning following the lifting of the siege on the city. Additionally, the network urges the United Nations to pressure the leadership of the Rapid Support Forces and the SPLM–Al-Hilu faction responsible for these violations.
