Zimbabwe: Is “Bombshell” the only hope in the Republic?

“Emmerson and his apologists can call me names, I do not care, I’m determined to change the lives of Zimbabweans for the better and that I will do. Calling me a terrorist will never stop me from challenging bad governance, corruption, nepotism and gross incompetence, Zimbabwe does not belong to him, it belongs to us all so we must equally be beneficiaries of its natural resources. I am also prepared to pay whatever price for whatever I’m doing for the betterment of our nation, isu vamwe takafa kudhara so threatening me will never move me an inch away from executing my mandate as a liberation war hero- asante sana” – Comrade Blessed Geza (23.04.2025).

“Militant war veterans’ leader Blessed “Bombshell” Geza has warned citizens that they might become collateral damage if there is an exchange of gunfire between security forces sympathetic to him and those guarding the corrupt individuals they intend to confront” (The Harare Times, 23.04.2025).

Today is the second day of shutdowns, which haven’t been totally or worked completely. There are several factors for that, and one is that people cannot afford to stay home and not work. They cannot afford to stay home and not go out to get paid. The poverty and living day-to-day costs them. Therefore, the M31 Movement have failed here.

The War Veteran and former loyalist of ZANU-PF, Comrade Blessed “Bombshell” Geza knows how the state operates, and he shouldn’t be shocked by it. The defiance and the new resistance against it come out of personal interests and such. It is hard to know what sort of gambit “Bombshell” has and for what reason.

Is Bombshell doing this to ensure Gen. Constantino Chiwenga becomes the successor of the President? Are there personal grievances in regard to Emmerson Mnangagwa?

That’s how it looks, as it only happened as he was ousted and lost his pivotal role. His now a firebrand renegade and sending out signals to the nation. He is asking for a National Shutdown of two days. Yesterday and today, after the March 31 one didn’t go to well and the huge protest didn’t appear. People stayed home that day and now they aren’t even doing that. Because the people cannot do so, and they are worried about their livelihood.

We should understand the ones who see the hope and wants Geza to succeed. That’s because there is little hope left, and the people have tricked by charlatans so many times. People looking like opposition and people who wants change. However, the moment they get into office. They start to work with the ZANU-PF anyway. Therefore, Geza is maybe a sign and on a reasonable quest.

Bombshell is maybe working for the betterment of the Republic and his challenging the status quo. That is necessary as the CCC is a smokescreen and the MDC-T or MDC-A is gone too. There is little to anything that is organized to disrupt and create tension with the state. As the MPs and the elected leadership aren’t capable or powerless to compete with the ZANU-PF.

Blessed Geza is shaking things up, but it’s hard to see him succeed. Unless, the people and the citizens all joins in on it. His maybe doing it for personal reasons, because it came out of nowhere. We can just wonder how this will play out, but this is a process and we have to wonder when it is enough. When the people are to tired and angry. That’s when Bombshell’s signal will matter. That’s when it will explode and the authorities cannot turn back the clock. Peace.
