“On Tuesday 10 February 2026, the President of the Republic Zimbabwe Cde E.D. Mnangagwa convened the first Cabinet meeting of 2026. Among other issues, Cabinet resolved to initiate far reaching Amendments to the Constitution as contained in Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill, 2026. Of particular significance is the clause which seeks to alter the life of Parliament, term of office of the Head of State and Government as well as the management of our elections in general” (CCC Party Parliamentary Caucus Resolutions, 12.02.2026).
The Citizens Coalition for Change (CCC) released their resolution on the Constitutional Amendment No. 3 Bill of 2026 dated 12th February 2026. That’s two days after the state launched the bill and the Cabinet has approved it. That’s why there should be some fierce language and words from the main opposition party, but that’s not the case.
Reading the Resolution of the CCC Party Parliamentary Caucus Resolutions is just a disappointing affair. This party is just there to secure meal-tickets and be a favourable force in regard to the ZANU-PF. They aren’t there to challenge the or the regime itself. These people aren’t interested in protesting, demonstrating or speaking up against the 2nd Republic. That is very clear.
Just to show the direction of the party, read this paragraph:
“Members of Parliament, and councillors are to provide written reports of the outcome of their engagement and consultation with their constituencies to the office of the Interim Secretary General by no later than 1 March 2026” (CCC Party Parliamentary Caucus Resolutions, 12.02.2026).
But the real kicker is this one:
“Electoral reforms contemplated in the Bill are a welcome step in the right direction. They, at least in part, address institutional and legitimacy issues which have perennially affected our electoral democracy” (CCC Party Parliamentary Caucus Resolutions, 12.02.2026).
This isn’t sounding like a opposition party, but a party who is working willingly and coordinated together with ZANU-PF. That’s what these resolutions are saying. It is really weak and mediocre. They aren’t even trying to convene or be sincere about the mission.
There needs to be a new movement and a party who really represents the people and their will. Because this CCC is a joke and a mockery of what other opposition parties has done in the past. These are just stooges waiting for their meal-tickets and their pay checks. Peace.
