The Silent War: Makenga confirmed dead at Bombo military hospital in Uganda

“The Congolese people and the international community are invited to take note, with the utmost attention, of the repeated violations of the ceasefire perpetrated by the Kinshasa regime, which gravely undermine the efforts at de-escalation and impose a dynamic of total war against the Alliance Fleuve Congo / Mouvement du 23 Mars (AFC/M23). The latter, for its part, remains resolutely committed to the strict observance of the ceasefire as well as the obligations arising from the Doha Agreement. The world is witness to this today” (Lawrence Kanyuka, 26.02.2026).

Today there are confirmed news about the demise of Gen. Sultani Makenga and his final time on earth. He was severely wounded by the drone attack on AFC/M23 which happened to kill Willy Ngoma too. The spokesperson was verified quickly after, which is ironic in the circumstances, as he was nicknamed “Quick Quick”.

Now there is sources and reports that Makenga died in the military hospital at Bombo in Uganda. Meaning he went and was transported from the Democratic Republic of Congo and gotten permission to be treated in Uganda. That’s telling…

The M23 shows who their allies are and who they are cooperating with. This should be recognized in Kinshasa. That’s why the leaders and propaganda peddling people are defending AFC/M23 are from Rwanda. The RDF and UPDF are clearly involved in the operations and the logistical affairs of the AFC/M23. That’s not shocking, because we have said so from the get-go. They are just showing it, again and again.

“The Kinshasa regime has crossed a threshold. It has trampled the ceasefire and with it, the fragile hope of a peace awaited by an entire people. It is no longer a matter of isolated incidents. It is no longer a matter of interpretive ambiguities. It is a matter of a succession of deliberate, repeated, methodical acts. Every offensive launched in violation of commitments made is a breach. Every strike moves further away the prospect of a political settlement. Every military advance cracks a little more the already fragile trust. The Doha Agreement was not a mere diplomatic text. It was a word given. A moral commitment. A promise made to the Congolese people and the international community. Today, that promise wavers under the weight of weapons” (Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC), 26.02.2026).

These ones wants to claim they fight for the Congolese and Congo. Nevertheless, the moment things gets hot or there is pushback. They will return back to Kigali or Kampala. That’s where the logistical support and the militaries are behind it all. They act like we don’t know, but why did Sultani Makenga die in Uganda?

Please, why was it the Military Hospital of Bombo active and had space for him. He wasn’t a direct part of UPDF or the army itself. However, they could still be operational and had a bed for him for treatment of his wounds.

There will be more stories to tell, but certainly the AFC/M23 is feeling the heat. The offensive of the FARDC and allies are hurting it. They have already lost several key people and that shows. We don’t know how this will play out, but the next few days will show. They have tried to keep this murky too and kept uncertainty about Makenga. Now it is verified and been reported as true. So, Mukenga and Ngoma got assassinated at the same time. Peace.

RDC: Martin Fayulu – Garantir l’Inclusivite et la Representativite dans le Processus du Dialogue Congolais (26.02.2026)

The Silent War: Ngoma confirmed assassinated, but uncertainty surrounding Makenga.

“We note that the Kinshasa regime has, once again, trampled the ceasefire by launching a generalized offensive across all front lines and beyond. This is a coordinated and extensive operation that reflects a deliberate choice of the military option. We cannot, either, help but note with deep concern the absence, at this stage, of any clear and visible initiative aimed at obtaining the immediate halt of this governmental offensive. No public reprimand, no condemnation, no perceptible action appears to have been taken to prevent the risk of escalation. This silence contrasts with the speed of the reactions observed when our movement is prompted to exercise its legitimate right to defense in the face of direct attacks” (AFC/M23 President Bertrand Bisimwa, 25.02.2026).

“North Kivu: General Sultani Makenga seriously injured, several AFC/M23 leaders killed near Rubaya. The military leader of the AFC/M23, Sultani Makenga, is said to have been seriously injured during the night from Monday to Tuesday, according to several concordant sources. The exact circumstances of the incident remain unclear. The events are reported to have occurred in a tense area of the Masisi territory, in North Kivu province. According to these same sources, several officers of the rebel movement are also said to have been killed during clashes that took place near Rubaya. Among the victims would be the group’s military spokesperson, Willy Ngoma. At this stage, these reports have not been independently confirmed” (Opportunités 243, 25.02.2026).

Hours goes go by and there is a lack of certainty. The assassination and the drone attack taking the life Willy Ngoma is established. However, what has happened to several other high-ranking commanders are still up in the air.

Hours after hours and we still don’t know with certainty what happened to General Sultani Makenga. As some sources claimed he was taken in the same attack. There was other ones also severely injured, but we don’t know their fate either. Therefore, we just have to await see now.

This drone attack is showing the abilities of the FARDC and allies. Which is able to strike deliberately and towards central characters of the AFC/M23. That is shown now. However, we have to wait to apply with confidence what is happening to everyone. As the tides are changing through the day and what is said through the grapevine.

There is more stories to be told, but right now everything is murky and there is no one telling in detail what went down and who got a fatal blow. We only know about one, but not the others who was with him and how badly they were injured. Therefore, the best thing is just to wait and see. Peace.

The Silent War: Two central figures of the AFC/M23 assassinated by a drone strike yesterday

“Two central figures of the AFC/M23 rebellion were eliminated on Tuesday, February 24, 2026. Willy Ngoma, the military spokesperson of the rebel movement, was killed on the spot during a drone strike launched by the Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Rubaya, in the territory of Masisi. Sultani Makenga, the commander-in-chief of the AFC/M23 military operations, succumbed to his injuries this evening at 21:00, after being evacuated in critical condition to a medical facility” (Kivu Media, 24.02.2026).

This here is a game changer. Things are changing fast. The AFC/M23 are now being hurt and precisely too. This is by precision and with great intelligence of the FARDC. They knew where the leadership was moving and where their convoys was travelling. That’s how they did this. As they had knowledge and accurate ability to strike the AFC/M23 in their territories.

Seriously, the AFC/M23 is hurting. The AFC/M23 haven’t addressed this and neither has FARDC/Kinshasa. We know this is deep, as other sources claims this:

“Update: Sources indicate that Maj Gen Sultani Makenga and Brig Gen Justin Musanga Gaceri were reportedly critically injured in the same drone strike that killed Lt Col Willy Ngoma. Reports suggest they were together at the time of the attack. Developments are still emerging on this story” (Samuel Baker Byansi, 24.02.2026).

This drone strike has seriously wounded and taken out vital parts of the leadership of the AFC/M23. They have done it with intent and knew what they were up against. Because, this isn’t some random soldiers or rebels. No, this is the core leadership and people who are well known for their strategic assets of the AFC/M23. That’s why their names are so well known and has peaked people’s interests for years.

There will be more to this, but the radio silence from Kinshasa and from AFC/M23 is shocking. Sooner or later, they will let out more details. Time will tell, but this isn’t over. Peace.

RDC: Agissons pour la Republique (AREP) – Communique de Presse No. 036 (22.08.2024)

DRC: Leaders associated with AFC/M23 is handed a death sentence…

A military court in Kinshasa has handed down the death penalty to former electoral commission boss Corneille Nangaa and more than two dozen other members of the rebel group, Alliance Fleuve Congo or Congo River Alliance (AFC).The Congolese court adopted a rarely used weapon to tame a group associated with the M23 rebels, who were declared a terrorist organisation. Leaders of the M23, Sultani Makenga and Bertrand Bisimwa and their spokesmen Willy Ngoma and Lawrence Kanyuka, are in the same boat” (Capital FM Uganda, 09.08.2024).

When a power becomes afraid, it is because it sees its fall coming. And its fall is this parody of a trial, followed by obsequious condemnations. It is the expression of the fear of a regime at bay, and which sees its decline coming. These sentences only bind and concern those who pronounced them. They will be obliged, after release, to return to them and ask for forgiveness for having carried out a manifestly illegal order, intended to please a autocrate crook, sick and charlatan to boot” (Corneille Nangaa, 08.08.2024).

Today we are getting the news that Alliance Fleuve Congo (AFC) and Mouvement du Mars 23 (M23) leaders have been sentenced to death by a military court in Kinshasa. Their armed rebellion and usage of militia activities within the Republic have caused this. They are parts of armed rebellion against the state and is directly challenging the Republic’s own army in parts of the Republic. Which is reasonable to target and sanction, to give the leaders a punitive action and act within the rule of law. Therefore, this sort of sentencing on them isn’t shocking, but is a sign of the will of the state.

A state that hasn’t had the will or the power to do so. Now they are addressing the insurgency and the militias within the Republic. It is targeting the M23/AFC or the AFC/M23 which seems inter-connected. They seem like an entity and the leadership there can be questioned. As they are targeting a region and province of the DRC.

M23 are a threat in the Nord-Kivu Province. That is common knowledge and AFC is a vehicle of just that. The fall of Nangaa is clear too, as he was a respected fellow and a man who had the authority of the electoral commission of the DRC. He was the man that announced the victory of President Felix Tshisekedi in 2019. Now, his sentenced by the court to death. That is significant and shows what is possible in the DRC.

Nangaa has to answer for his choices and why he took part of the AFC. The avenues was maybe closed and he knew he wouldn’t have any favours with the allies of Tshisekedi, as he was a man that had entrusted this role by former President Joseph Kabila. Therefore, he was a relic and a man of the wrong administration.

Still, it is risky to associate yourself with an armed rebellion and militia’s within a Republic. That could easily be seen as treason and be seen as a criminal act against the state. This isn’t anything new for the M23, but for the AFC it is. Others has been here before and won’t be last, as long as there are mineral resources to loot and lacking structures to control the territories. Which gives breading ground for rebellion and armed militias to control mineral rich regions. That’s where these comes in and make a business out of it. Since the army isn’t capable or have the manpower to enforce rule of law. Therefore, in the vacuum of the state, these militias and armed rebellions comes in and takeover from the state.

That isn’t done without a risk and they are only allowed to do so. If they serve the interests of the current leadership and President. If the militias or armed groups has association with the government. They could get away with their crimes and profiteering on the extraction of minerals within their zones or occupied areas.

That’s why we know this will not stop the M23 or the AFC from operating. They are now seen as illegal entities and are a danger to society. This it should have been seen from the onset and from how they have used lethal force to have a say. Not only for the association with foreign entities and logistical support as such. Which has been reported and been known, especially for the M23. We shouldn’t be shocked if the AFC are the same or in the same boat. They are working for the same thing and trying to evolve the same beast. Therefore, the state is within it’s rights to address it.

The Military Court has only reacted within its realm and within its mandate. The ones charged and getting on trial should answer for it. It is only righteous… and for a greater cause. Some might say this is to consolidate or control more power in the eyes of the President. Well, the M23 and AFC isn’t Sunday School Choirs or Bible Salesmen, but an armed opposition against the state. That’s why the state is within it’s right to sanction it. Peace.
