Today, the Courts was adjourned again… and the case is pending again to December 4th 2025. This is the case against Dr. Kizza Besigye and fellow comrades who has been behind bars for months upon months, which is soon clocking a full year without a proper trial, gathering of evidence, witness reports or even proper sentencing for that matter.
The authorities and state is just using all technicalities, moving between the jurisdictions and ensuring the political prisoner is kept behind bars. Besigye and fellow peers are political prisoners and prisoners of conscience. The charges has been worsened, Besigye have been moved between the Courts, but nothing has been served, directly moved or been any sort of procedure, which gives reasons to keep him behind bars. No, they are just using technicalities and legalize without any code or judicial process to properly conduct the affairs.
Instead, by the time of everything. They intend to keep him in Luzira until over the General Elections of 2026. That’s to weaken the opposition and ensure the PFF has less of reach. They want to malign and distort the abilities of the new party. That’s how it seems from here.
Dr. Kizza Besigye could have caused a lot of stir and interrupt things in campaign season and during the polls. His still has a name and a sway. Maybe not as big as in the early 2010 and early 2000s, but I wouldn’t put it past him. Besigye can still be a moral figure and be a figurative opposition. His the sort of leader you want to aspire to emulate, as he wants change and fought from that to begin with. The moment he saw the corruption and the misrule of the Movement he rebelled against it. Therefore, Besigye has shown character and stood tall…
No one has been through as much as Besigye has for the cause. He has the most times being arrested, charged and times spent within the courts. However, he has never been sentenced or served time for the pinned criminal conspiracy. He has been kept behind bars and been incarcerated as “pre-emptive” means and without proper causes. That’s why none of it has able to pass the threshold or made him a felon. They wanted to take him down and he has already been charged with treason before, but nothing came out of it.
Besigye knows this and is strong. He has fought and continues to fight. That’s why his not relenting or even giving up. No one would fault him or even look bad on him for totally retire from it all. This man has done everything he could, been part of Reform Agenda, cemented the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and was so close to the Presidency. A man who really was on the barricades, become sick, tortured, tear-gassed and arrested more times than anyone else. That’s why you cannot speak ill of the man.
Dr. Kizza Besigye is a living hero for people like me. His a man who has never given way. No one would have denied him or even been mad, if he stepped to the side. He has every right to do so and let the new generation take the mantle. That would be natural, he has fought for decades and never seen promised land. A man who hasn’t seen a peaceful transition of power or seen a time without Museveni in Office.
That’s why we know it’s beneficial for Museveni and his allies to hold Besigye behind bars. There will be to much noise and hectic mess to keep him house-arrested. It is better for them to have him in prison and not guarded at his home. We have seen how much trouble that causes and it is less costly to have him in the pen.
It is just… an honest thought and rant. Besigye is kept there for a reason and by orders. Because all Court proceedings and judicial acts is just prolonging the agony, but not sufficiently giving any reasons to keep him there. Neither is there any evidence, witness or whatnot to prove any criminal conspiracy. That’s why you know this is a sham and done out of spite from the authorities. They have the power to keep him and just needs shallow arguments to keep him there. That’s it… and this is the impunity of the state.
Expect him to be released or get stringent bail bonds or continued procedures after the General Elections of 2026. That’s the inevitable thing here. The case and the charges will go nowhere, because the state hasn’t produced anything or has any case to begin with. They just need to make thin air into solid gold. Peace.
