“A ministerial decree dissolving forty opposition parties is shaking up the political class.
In Guinea, the government announced, in the night from Friday to this Saturday, March 7, the dissolution of forty political parties, including the three most important ones, namely the Rally of the Guinean People (RPG), of former president Alpha Condé, the Union of Democratic Forces (UFD), of former Prime Minister Cellou Dalein Diallo, and the Union of Republican Forces (UFR), of former prime minister Sidya Touré. According to the decree, these political organizations were dissolved for non-compliance with the new Guinean legislation adopted on September 21, 2025” (France-Afrique MÉDIA, 07.03.2026).
Now we know, but General Mamady Doumbouya is just a self-serving individual. The Junta government that recently got “elected” in an election. Has now taken the final step and is just ensuring total control and consolidation of all political power. That’s all that matters to him.
He had his election in December and everything went down as anticipated. Now a few months later after being “elected” his now dissolving opposition parties. That’s because the President and his fellow allies has all the instruments of power.
This man took power in September 2021 and now has ensnared everyone else. Right now it is targeting his enemies and the opponents to his reign. The activists and the ones caring about the rights and rules, like Front National pur la Defense de la Constitution (FNDC) and Forces Vives de Guinee (FVG) should start to campaign and be offensive. Because now is their hour.
This military junta government are now beholden to the General. His their master and a coming tyrant. A man who spoke like a credible leader against ageing leaders like Yoweri Museveni. However, now his doing what he would have did and using his office for gains for himself. That’s how this looks like.
He isn’t letting go. The nation should understand that and his now willing to let go. He took power and now he will cling onto it. The General will see it as his and won’t relent about it either. When he is dissolving 40 parties by decree. It just shows his character and where his heart remains. He isn’t a democrat or someone who believes in multiple voices. No, he wants to be the only one and everyone to obey him. That’s why a person does this.
This is red alert.
Now is the time to open up your eyes and see who this General really is. He will go even further. Expect civil society and NGOs to be dissolved too. There will be activists who are arrested and opposition leaders who will have to flee into exile. That’s what is coming here.
