“It’s official raise your glasses
Cause this party gonna go to Damascus” – Wyclef Jean – ‘Party to Damascus’ (2003)
The rebels are ringing things in. The foreign mercenaries and troops are fleeing. The Iranian and Russians are leaving the Syrian Arab Republic. The national army is in shambles and the various forces of rebels are able to strategically manoeuvre. The end of tyranny and dictatorship is soon over.
Bashar Al-Assad’s reign in Syria is in its final stretch. The news of asking Washington D.C. for help and a new alliance. That is telling, because Hezbollah and Iran has been his guiding star together with the massive help from Kremlin. Now all of these allies are ditching him and seemingly they hope for better fortunes. As the civil war and possible revolution turns things around. Alas, we don’t know what is on the other side, but it certainly isn’t the Ba’ath Party and Al-Assad.
Some says Al-Assad is already in exile. That he is residing in Teheran and is a guest in Iran. Maybe he went together with troops and weaponry of the Iranian forces earlier in the day. Meanwhile others are saying his hiding in Damascus. Whatever it is… it doesn’t look good and his end is near.
The HTS, SDF, SNA and SFA all have to find ways to work together. As they are operating in various parts of the Republic. They are all able with combine forces to defeat the Al-Assad loyalist troops. These are able to takeover massive territories and send the Al-Assad army retreating. However, after the fact comes the big question.
Who will guide the nation and how will it be organized. As this is various groups with different interests or possible ideologies. Therefore, these has to talk and negotiate. Especially in the interim and the transitional phase after Al-Assad is toppled. Because right now… it is just a matter of time. The minorities and the ones who are easily forgotten needs to be remembered too. As they need their say as well. So with an easy assessment to say this is a quagmire and not an easy road ahead.
People should celebrate and be giddy of the end of Al-Assad. His brutal reign and misuse of power will be remembered. It is a reason why people fled the nation, remember all the lost and all the suffering as a cause of one man ruling indefinitely. Now the question is who comes after and what sort of ruler is that.
Al-Assad is soon history. Everything is going in that direction. Everyone can see that appearing now and there is no return for him. He has lost everything and the titles he has is worthless. Sooner or later he has to accept that, but that’s the truth. Another tyrant and dictator who lost it all. Some will cry tears, but plenty more will celebrate. Because he has a legacy left behind of torture, pain and suffering. The demise of so many people, just so he could be the President and Head of State.
We don’t know what tomorrow will look like, but things are looking grim for Al-Assad. His people should leave and find refuge. As we are seeing and hearing reports of allies fleeing. It is just a sign that this is over and it just a matter of time. The clock is ticking and it is getting closer to the grand finale.
The final showdown and the last salute. That is here very soon and the road to Damascus is clear. Peace.
