Opinion: DPRK-Uganda have been trading partners for years…

The relationship between Uganda and North Korea is more than an ordinary diplomatic relationship. It is a special friendship built over the years by the relationship between the Presidents of the two states” (Parliament.go.ug, 31.10.2014).

The Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) or North Korea have been dealing with the Government of Uganda for decades. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) have been closely dealing with the North Korean counterparts. This has been done since the bush-war.

The North Koreans have both having businesses in Uganda, but also traded weapons to the Ugandan army. This have been older systems of ammunitions and weapons. Still, it has been an enterprise that have given the Pyongyang the needed foreign exchange and profits. While the Ugandans could get excessive weaponry to conflicts across their borders. It has been a win-win for both parties.

Which, when the Danish documentary series “the mole” exposed this. It has been known for ages. The UN has filed it in its reports for years. The knowledge of this trading and collaboration have been known. The DPRK and Uganda have been partners in crime. These low-cost parts and ammunition sold to Uganda have been good business for them both. Cheap imports and accessible to use in proxy wars.

There is knowledge and reports that contrary to UN Sanctions, the North Koreans has both manual workers and medical professionals working in Uganda. This is a way of earning money on the labour made by these citizens. Who are facilitated by state corporations working on projects and as part of state tenders in Uganda. Therefore, “the Mole” idea with building an arms factory in Uganda and using that as means for exporting illegal weapons. Wouldn’t be far-fetched because of the relationship between the states. It would be a win-win for both Republics and Presidents.

Just recently, Kim Jong-Un sent this message to Uganda on its independence day:

Our people sincerely hope that under your leadership, the friendly people of Uganda will achieve great successes in their efforts for consolidating the national unity and attaining the socio-economic development of the country. I take this opportunity to express my conviction that the friendly and cooperative relations between our two countries would continuously strengthen and develop by inheriting their history and tradition.” (Mfa.gov.kp, 2020).

If that isn’t a message, than nothing is. It really says it all. As well, with the knowledge of how long they been trading. Using illegal means to profit of each other. As the one benefits from the other. Both parties knows that. The DPRK wouldn’t be involved and has this sort of deals, unless it earned on it. Neither, would the Ugandan have it either. Since, they are getting a bargain and getting things cheaply, but also weapons, which it can use for questionable enterprises elsewhere.

President Museveni have had this sort of relationship, because it has been beneficial to him and his allies. He wouldn’t have done this, if it wasn’t anything in it for him. Pyongyang and Kampala been friendly, because its good business. They are both getting what they need.

The Mole” is maybe opening the eyes of a few new faces. However, many of us knew. Peace.

A look into Taban Idi Amin: The new Deputy Director General of ISO

The man, the myth and the legend. Who am I kidding, right? The oldest son of Idi Amin Dada. The man who came back from exile. A man who ran a racket and battalion of mercenaries in the Democratic Republic of Congo. A man who has been part of the Internal Security Organization before. Therefore, this is not new to him. The man is going to familiar offices and work.

The man who is a former rebel, warlord and even occupied the Embassy in Kinshasa at one point. This man is in-charge and has a grand oversight of ISO now. That is job that is important in the months ahead. As these sort of organizations combined with the Chieftain of Military Intelligence (CMI) is spying on, doing surveillance and detaining dissidents ahead of the polls.

That is why the President has men like this around him and who are capable of doing so. This man is bold enough to ask years of bloody war and horrific acts. To ask for millions of dollars for his duty as a Warlord in the DRC. That is the sort of man, Taban Amin is. He reflects the sort of leadership and sort of military commanders, the President promotes.

The President did the same or similar appointment of him in 2006. Just two weeks ahead of the polls. Now, he does it earlier in October, than 14 days ahead last. We know the state doesn’t want to flaunt this.

So, that his returning to ISO. Is only a warning for what’s ahead. The man who has no quarrels and qualms to use force. Will do it again. As he can be bought and use all means to fulfil his missions. The President can apparently trust him and could re-appoint him. He has gotten this job twice.

Taban Amin has a unique place in the reign of Museveni. Which is weird in the grand scheme of things. The President is so proud of toppling his father with Fronasa. Therefore, to give one of his sons such a role within the law enforcement is quite rare.

We can wonder what he knows, what he offers and how come he become relevant for this. Since, his now picked up for this twice. That is an achievement. No doubt about that. Trust me, Taban Amin will not like this text.

He wanted to run FUFA at one point, but wasn’t deemed fit by technicalities. Surely, he wouldn’t run it because of his knowledge of the sports. The man has run a Congolese Music Band in favour of the President’s third term and run of several other enterprises.

Well, enough for one day. ISO got a “new” Deputy Director General. Golly gee, we will see some headlines and will some people hurt ahead of these elections. Especially, if someone tries to steal his woman. Allegedly, he tortured a man for doing that back-in-the-day. That is the sort of man Taban is. Peace.

Muwanda & Co. Advocates: Press Statement (09.10.2020)

Opinion: Independence, but only for a few…

On the 9th October 1962 the Republic of Uganda got its independence from the United Kingdom. Instead of being a protectorate. It became its own entity and its own state. This was done by issuing the Uganda Independence Act. In which it states:

On the ninth day of October, nineteen hundred and sixty-two (in this Act referred to as “the appointed day”), the territories which at the passing of this Act are comprised in the Uganda Protectorate (that is to say, all those territories which, whether designated as kingdoms, districts or otherwise, are specified in section one of the Constitution set out in the Second Schedule to the existing Constitution Order, and whose boundaries are as mentioned in section two of that Constitution) shall together form part of Her Majesty’s dominions under the name of Uganda; and as from the appointed day Her Majesty’s Government in the United Kingdom shall have no responsibility for the Government of Uganda or any part thereof. No Act of the Parliament of the United Kingdom passed on or after the appointed day shall extend, or be deemed to extend, to Uganda, or any part of Uganda, as part of the law thereof; and as from that day the provisions of the First Schedule to this Act shall have effect with respect to legislative powers in Uganda” (Uganda Independence Act, 1962).

This again set fourth a battle to be supreme. Internal conflict and battles between the political elites. Which have culminated to today’s ways and means of centralized control within one person. Instead of building a government on protocol, institutionalized and with regulations. The state is all controlled from the “high above”.

That has been moved and switched heads in power. This has changed with the power of the gun. The coup d’etats and the use of foreign forces to bring the heads of state down. This being Dr. Milton Obote who reigned in two terms. This being Idi Amin Dada and so fourth. The previous Head of States was taken out by the guns. They lost power not by a peaceful transition, but that the latest victor get the reign.

The same can be said about the man in power today. His in power because of guns and not because of people’s glorious tales about rule. President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is a rebel who took power. A man who deemed one election so fraudulent. That it gave him reason to challenge the state to war. This he succeeded with and has clung onto ever since.

This one man is free, his cronies are too and few elite individuals has all the powers of the state. They can do and is befallen all the gracious gifts of the state. These ones are untouchables and the ones who profits on the system. A system that has been created and is fuelled by the Presidency itself.

With this in mind, you can see. I haven’t mentioned liberty and freedom. Neither, have I mentioned justice or rule of law. Because, that is beneath the current state of affairs. Where everything is run as shop and the shopkeeper is the President. He can be bought, he can select who gets to trade and who gets the liberty to do things. If you are in his way, you will be punished and will be hurt. It is just a matter of what legal means and methods the state can use against you. The state will not blink to strike against the ones who are in the way of the President. That is the reality of it all.

This is why after 58 years of independence. The state is still an individual game. A place of where the adherent power is using all arms of government to promote itself. Instead, of being a partisan and open society. It is locked within the ruling regime and only a skin-deep “democratic values” put forward to appease friendly donors of the state.

The President has no interest is playing out a real democracy. He has dreamed of a movement system and have everyone underneath his ranks. The man would prefer to just have everyone within his own organization. This is why his belief of liberty, freedom and justice is limited. A limited world-view, where everything circles around him. That is the sad reality of today.

Museveni has given freedom to few, but not to the many. They have to follow him and his vision. If you don’t, you get punished or hurt. That is the mere reality. That is why the Nation isn’t free. Yes, the orders of London is gone, but the Entebbe State House is still suffocating people. Still, silencing the ones who dares to challenge the throne. They are monitored, surveillance and arrests the ones who goes across the correct line.

This is why…. its a state of a limited freedom. Where Museveni and his ways are limiting it. That is remains of today. As today could just be under the same banner as NRM Day. The President and his party celebrate both days the same. It is the same false liberation under the banner of one man. A man who wants to be foundation and the cornerstone of the Republic.

However, when history will be written. The ideals, the political dogma will be unleashed with all the skeletons that has to be answered for. Which until now… been left and lest we forget, these has to be liberated too. As they have to be remembered and never forgotten. These souls has get answers for… if they are not answered for. Then, we will repeat the same sins as our forefathers and we will not progress to a place of hope, freedom and liberty.

A place not ruled by ones man’s whim, but by the statutes, laws and regulations, which everyone will abide too. Also, the ones in the highest of offices and the poorest peasants too. That everyone is equal under the law. That everyone has the same rights and the prospects. Not just a few, not just the ones anointed by the “high above”. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni has added an T!

It ain’t what they call you, it’s what you answer to.”W.C. Fields

On the 6th October 2020 the President has gotten his name gazetted. The change is with one name middle-name. His not officially Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, but is from now on Yoweri Tibuhaburwa Kaguta Museveni. This is a vital change, because the President needs to soon drop his academic credentials. These has to be altered and fixed. Therefore, the change of name is maybe his way of showing that he is “consistent” with his story. However, the man has changed back-and-fourth.

The newly added name is Tibuhaburwa, which means “Wisdom is inherent, born with” and was given to him by his grandmother Nyinancwende. That is a name he used in the past. This is maybe why he has re-issued it. As his name has to resonate with his credentials. Even if they are not released. Before, the President have ensured it fits his narrative.

So, the President have taken a nickname and made it his own. There is already speculation that his name before he became a rebel was Yoseri, but also Yoweri Kayibanda aka Rutabasirwa. Therefore, adding the Tibuhaburwa is more of a recognition of the part of his life his tried to hide.

The President for Life is really cornered, as the authorities are not delivering petitions of his academic credentials and the proof of eligibility as a Presidential Candidate. Which the authorities has no issues with doing with the other candidates.

That is why the changes of name now seems like a ploy to fit the paper-trail, which suddenly might be released. The sort of action made to validate and fit in with the paperwork. The paperwork that seems to never to be released.

It is sort of odd that he does it now. That the President changes his name 34 years into power. In the middle of the early campaigns for the 2021 elections. This shows that the challenge is bigger than before. That he has to answer the opposition in a fashion like this. It is done to prove himself.

However, adding a nickname is not the real him. He has added a nickname his grandmother gave him. A way of showing his greatness, as the meaning is so deep.

He is the Commander-in-Chief, the King of Kings and now born with Wisdom. The President wants to be everything.

Nevertheless, changing the name now. Only make him Mr. T, as a mockery like Bosco, Jajja and Mr. Sunday.

With the action made by the President. He only shows that he hasn’t been truthful about his origin and his family history. As he has to peel the onion, piece by piece. He needs to be challenged and put into a corner. So, that he cannot keep it a secret.

There been speculations going on for years. With this sort of change. It is verified that people are right and its righteous to question him. As he takes the name his grandmother gave him. What else has he hidden? What other skeletons does he has in his closet?

We don’t know, but at some point. He has to give way and give in. Peace.

Uganda: Nationwide analysis finds Gulu, Jinja, Kasese worst affected by hunger during lockdown (07.10.2020)

For the rest of the year, Gulu and Kasese are expected to remain at Crisis levels even while their markets are supplied with harvests.

KAMPALA, Uganda, October 7, 2020 – Ugandans in nine urban areas were at Crisis levels of food insecurity or worse for months leading to August because of negative impacts of the COVID-19 lockdown. The worst affected of were Gulu, Jinja and Kasese where nearly one in three people struggled to find nutritious food on a regular basis.

For the rest of the year, Gulu and Kasese are expected to remain at Crisis levels even while their markets are supplied with harvests.

These were some of the findings of the most comprehensive Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) analysis conducted in Uganda to date, covering Kampala and other urban areas, the Karamoja region and refugee settlements and host communities for the first time.

The analysis was carried out by the Government of Uganda and three UN agencies and measures food insecurity from June through August and projected from September to December. It was informed in part by real-time data gathered by remote telephone monitoring of households in 13 urban areas, refugee hosting districts and Karamoja region in the northeast. It is the first time, real-time data informed the IPC on urban areas.

The IPC attributed Crisis food insecurity to the loss of livelihoods in the informal sector, tourism, the travel and events industry and the education sector, reduced remittances and reduced commercial networks due to the closure of borders.

Releasing the results of the analysis, the Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Eng. Hillary Onek, said that the Government is committed to ensuring food and nutrition security and well-being for all people in Uganda, including those in urban areas.

Speaking while releasing the results of the analysis, the Minister for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Eng. Hillary Onek, said Government is committed to ensuring food and nutrition security and well-being for all people in the country, including those in urban areas.

“With these new findings, we now know, reliably, who the most food-insecure people are in Uganda, where they are and what we can do to save lives and preserve livelihoods. Such knowledge is critical before we take any decisions,” Mr Onek said.

“We thank our partners for working with us to come up with this very important analysis. We now must continue to work together to find solutions to the issues raised in the study,” Mr Onek added.

Currently, through a collaboration with the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the United Nations makes 10,000 calls a month to monitor food security in refugee areas, 12 urban areas and Karamoja region.

Using the real-time and other data, the IPC found that refugees in all 13 settlements in Uganda along with more than 1.3 million Ugandans in refugee-hosting districts and Karamoja region experienced Crisis or worse levels of hunger between June and August.

In Karamoja, all districts had worrying levels of malnutrition among young children and pregnant and nursing women, with malnutrition above emergency levels in Moroto and Napak.

The IPC attributed the high levels of food insecurity in refugee hosting districts and Karamoja to WFP’s ration cuts for refugees, the lockdown, floods and subsequent food losses, animal and human diseases, insecurity in some parts of Karamoja and reduced remittances as key contributors to the situation.

“Ration cuts for refugees will remain in place until we secure sufficient funding. To be able to provide full rations for refugees in the settlements until the end of 2020, WFP needs nearly US$15.3 million immediately,” said WFP Uganda Country Director, Mr El-Khidir Daloum.

FAO’s Deputy Representative, Ms Priya Gujadhur said “As part of the UN Uganda’s Emergency Appeal launched earlier this year, FAO has appealed for USD 7.8 million for food security, nutrition and livelihoods interventions. This will allow FAO to provide agricultural livelihood support and training in climate smart agricultural practices to help up to 10,000 of the most vulnerable households produce for their own consumption and diversify income sources through value chain development, thereby strengthening their resilience.”

Even with coming harvests this year, it is expected households will continue to struggle with food shortages partly because of lost incomes during the lockdown. All refugee settlements are expected to remain at Crisis level at best. Food security should improve in nine out of 12 worst-affected refugee-hosting districts. Malnutrition is expected to decline in two districts in Karamoja in the coming months.

The Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries, the Ministry for Disaster Preparedness and Refugees, Kampala Capital City Authority, the Uganda Bureau of Statistics, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations and WFP participated in the IPC analysis. The European Union, World Bank and UK Aid funded the exercise

Opinion: Museveni wants to be a legend

There are so many things unanswered with this man. A man who has ruled supreme since 1986. For some reasons, there are plenty of things who are hidden and kept away. Which makes people speculate and question.

The man I am questioning is President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. There must be a reason why his academic credentials isn’t released and why his other certificates are released for the grander public. As he should be able to prove what any other bloke or person has to do. If they want to run for office. He might think his special, but laws are made for everyone, which means they are valid for him as well.

I think that President Museveni wants to a be a legend. He wants to have a cult and myth around his origins. The man wants to make it special and be like the Gods. That is why his the King of Kings (Ssabagabe) of the Nkore or Ankole Kingdom.

It is a ego thing. Not that its strange he has an ego. This is why he went to war and claimed all the ill things about the 1980 election. Why he petitioned the polls and went to the bush. Because, he believed he was the only man with a vision. That he was so special and unique. He was the most brilliant and had the character to reign supreme.

In the same regard, he wants his roots to grand. The man wants to be from the best and make it look like that. Even if that isn’t true. He wants to be legendary. The President wants the public to know. That his majestic, the greatest and the father of the nation. Even when that isn’t the case.

Why do I say all of that? Well, it seems like he has made himself a moniker or a nickname like artists do. The paperwork that is in public has stated that he has other names than Museveni. Which means “Son of a man of the Seventh”. He took the middle name from his step-father Amos Kaguta. Therefore, his original names are vastly different and not as mystical.

Before he was Museveni he was Yoseri. To be more precise he was Yoseri Tubuhaburwa. Other names he has had was Yoweri Kayibanda aka Rutabasirwa. So, none of these names are as rare as Museveni.

The name change in combination with the change of birthdates and birthplace. Proves even more how he wants to be a legend. A man that cannot be traced and can re-create his origin. A man who can become whatever he feels like and entertain various of stories of his life. With that sort of play, he can be a king, instead of being a immigrant and a peasant. The man who came from poverty, became a man of Uganda Research Bureau, went to war and never returned.

That’s why his ego is like this. He wants to be extraordinary and exceptional. The President cannot be like a commoner. The man got to be out of the ordinary.

He can act like he is all of that, but that doesn’t make it more true. Just like he wants to be the King of Kings. The man above and the “high above”. The only man with a vision, which isn’t true either.

The delusion is real. The reality can hit someone right in the face. However, this man has been allowed to build this character and this life history. Even if there are no solid facts or truths to it. That is why his the son of seventh, instead of a Kayibanda. Maybe, he feels more significant with the name Museveni.

Still, the truth will come out one day. These sort of metamorphosis doesn’t last forever. Peace.

Mawogola North: A family affair [where Kaguta settled old scores over Kuteesa]

The National Resistance Movement Primary Elections in Sembabule district and in Mawogola North County especially. Where there was a need to postpone the election twice and having the polls finally on the 30th September 2020. The first primaries was slated for 4th September and was moved to 28th September, but happened on the 30th September 2020. The first polls was stopped because of election violence between the two main parties in the polls. These are people related to high ranking officials and therefore, the results are even more important.

This is all because of the ones involved. On the days of the polls on the 30th September, there was 2,000 soldiers in the district to ensure peaceful elections. That says a lot and what is at stake. This was one seat in question and the army had to go in like they we’re defeating a militia.

The Primaries here was the highest stakes. This is why it was so extra contested. The battle of Museveni versus Kuteesa. A race that was reminding people of when Yoweri lost to Sam to in 1980 and took him to court, where he lost the petition as well.

Times has changed since then. Sam Kuteesa is still a Minister and a powerful individual. Who are connected deeply in the State House. However, he is still not the President.

While the President had his brother going to the polls here. That being Godfrey Aine Kaguta aka Sodo. Sam had his daughter Shartsi Kuteesa Musherure.

Just to put the family structure into a grander scale. The other son of Museveni, Muhoozi Kainerugaba have married the twin of Shartsi Kuteesa Musherure, that being Charlotte Kuteesa. While Sodo is a half-brother of Museveni and is therefore a Uncle to Muhoozi. That was all done to put things into perspective. Also, Sam Kuteesa himself is a “father-in-law” as his late wife Jennifer Kuteesa was a cousin to Janet Museveni, the wife of the President Yoweri. Therefore, the whole clan was internally battling out in this Primary.

Which meant that the big-men, the ones at the highest table was sending their closest family members to challenge each other. That would be a battle of pride and honour. Especially for Kaguta who has already lost once to Kuteesa. He didn’t want that to be repeated.

So, yesterday, Sodo fixed the bill and won the race. Even as Shartsi and her team won’t concede the loss. They are taking the polls to the courts and having the election contested there. That is repeating history, but the other way around. Now, Sodo has the one in office on his side, just like Sam had in the 1980s. Therefore, I doubt that this petition will bare any grounds or change the Primaries.

Sodo has this, but whoever he challenges in the General Election that matters. There might even be an independent he has challenged before. Which will try their luck again. Sodo is lucky to be a half-brother of the President. If he wasn’t there would be very much in the hands of Shartsi, as she has not only the support of her father, but would have Muhoozi as well.

This is the sort of family affairs turned politics. As they all wants part of the stakes. Secure the next generation and ensure their legacy. That is what this was all about. Kuteesa wanted his own to excel too. The Son of Kaguta wanted that for his own well. We saw how that went.

We can always question if these numbers are accurate and the results are a honest representation. As there well known rigging and that wouldn’t shock anyone here. Tanga Odoi wouldn’t offend the Don and mock the half-brother of the President. That he cannot afford.

These elections was bound to be this way. Neither way, they would be contested and would be messy. As there is not only the next generation ambition, but old scores to fought. Secondly, the one in power wants his folk first. At this junction that happened to be Sodo, even as Shartsi could easily been one too. As the extended family is all in the near proximity of the First Family. It isn’t far from Janet, neither far from Muhoozi, which means Yoweri know them all. Peace.

Opinion: Reminiscing about Maj. Gen. Kazini [and will Museveni launch a “new breed” of military entrepreneurialism in North Kivu?]

This isn’t a far fetched, ancient history and such. Many of the men behind the ills of the past is still lingering around. They are in the chambers of powers, having titles and being called “honourable”. These men used their opportunities in the past to earn fortunes on the misery of others. They created massive networks, supported local militias and forged companies to ensure wealth. These was Generals, High Ranking Officials and Associates of the President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This they did across the Democratic Republic of Congo. These men in question was Gen. Salim Selah, Gen. Kahinda Otafiire and Maj. Gen. James Kazini. They we’re all participating in the plundering, the looting and the illicit resource flight from the DRC to Uganda. They ensured the military presence and their allies could extract, steal and operate illegal businesses to profit out of. That was all done with the blessing of the “High Above” in Kampala.

Today, I started to reminiscing about Maj. Gen. James Kazini, the late General who was killed by his girlfriend in 2009. That was year after the war in the DRC ended. The man who had together with various of factions, barriers to market and usage of force made it possible to enrich himself on the conflict. He together with Gen. Salim Selah secured companies like Victoria Group. Victoria Group even had as one of their shareholders being Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga. That’s why this enterprise was supported, all from the top!

The Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) used the power they had in the region to exploit the mineral resource and re-export it. Like selling diamonds, gold and coffee as Ugandan, but it origins was from the DRC.

Therefore, knowing all this, as the news of the Cabinet Meeting in Entebbe on Monday this week. Which stated building road-network in the North Kivu Province. I cannot help to think, that it’s not only a wet-dream for road-scandal with tenders, lost funds and ghosts. Also with the history of the UPDF. The history of men like Maj. Gen. Kazini. There could be people willing to profit from the sins of the past again. Especially, profitable mineral resources as cobalt and others, which happens to be in North Kivu.

So, if Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) is building the roads in North Kivu. Then, the President and his team will come excuses that the UPDF need a battalion to ensure the safety of contractors and engineers. While, the same army will also configure ways to participate in more military entrepreneurialism in the province. That would be a way to kick-back and make it profitable.

That the UPDF and UNRA would do this wouldn’t be shocking. There is to much resources and possible exploits for them to not grab it. Even if it is a illicit business and illegal. Still, to this day the Ugandan government is exploiting Congolese gold as they are minting it at the Gold Refinery in Entebbe. Which is why, I am thinking there is more plans ahead in North Kivu.

They are not just going there to tarmac some roads and build a bridge or two. No, they are not compensation for the past hurt and looting. No, these men are finding a new way to exploit and profit of the situation. This is the same government that has used Kisoro as a base and supported para-military groups in the DRC. The same government that was a safe-haven for M-23 soldiers. Therefore, I have little trust of the goodwill…

Until proven otherwise. Peace.

Opinion: Rwabwogo isn’t wrong… [about the NRM and Museveni]

The NRM party that I identify with, we are most likely building democracy around an individual. If you remove Museveni, NRM party will struggle”Sylvia Rwabwogo (Anthony Wesaka . ‘NRM party will struggle without Museveni, says MP Rwabwogo’ 30.09.2020).

That the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni are interconnected has been from the start. Just like the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) was tied with Museveni. The NRM is the same…

There would be no NRM, if there was no Museveni and vice-versa. They are both connected. We all know this. The National Resistance Movement is his child, the political party made out of the National Resistance Army (NRA). This is all well-known.

The whole party is built around and his vision. The NRM is Museveni and Museveni is NRM. We are many who has said that. They are calling it a mass-party, the party of the public, but there is lack of membership cards and it’s just supposed to be all citizens are naturally members of the party. There is also this idea that you can scratch away the citizens who are members of opposition parties and equate the rest as NRM members. That shows how they are making the citizens members of the party.

Museveni has made it like this. That has been his idea. It is historical for him, as he ushered in the Movement System and reluctantly rectified the Multi-Party Democracy. Because, the NRM as it came into power. It wanted everyone to be under their organization and keep it under one house.

That was all part of Museveni’s vision. The NRM will loose steam the moment Museveni is gone. Just like Uganda People’s Congress (UPC) have lost their fire after the loss of Dr. Milton Obote. The same will happen to the NRM.

When your not building institutions, but is building on one personality. Than, you will loose it all when that personality is gone. The NRM will fade when Museveni goes. This is because it was all him.

Some will say this is hogwash, but we all know the gist. The NRM will start to battle over the throne. The NRM will face struggles and the NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) will fight for the Presidency. There will be fraction and the sides will take their turns. These will not easily give way, as the man who steered the ship has already left the party.

Museveni is the reason why people are there. He is making sure all of the people are eating out his hand and his feeding them. Museveni is the man, the legend and the hero of the party. The one everyone looks up to and praise. The President knows this and that is why his the sole candidate. The same are plenty of his loyal allies. They are supposed to be automatically supported, because he vouch for them.

This is why the NRM will loose its importance and vitality. The party will not be itself without its founder and visionary. Museveni is the foundation and when they take away that stone. It is bound to fail. It will be bickering and internal squabble, which will cost.

They will not be as strong, as the centre is lost. The one place to always pin and secure the party will not be there.

It was good to hear this from someone from the inside. As it validates what we critics been saying for years.

The day Museveni is gone, the day his not there, the NRM might be history. If not the NRM might end up as powerful and respected as UPC. That wouldn’t be shocking. When you build a party around one man. You can loose it all, when the one man isn’t there. This is why, good governance is to build institutions with procedures and not just follow one man blindly like the NRM has does. Peace.
