Opinion: Gereson get a grip…

A leaked WhatsApp audio from a one Kuluthum Sherry to Dj Erycom pins Gravity Omutujju as a masquerading owner of the Busabala Land where the rapper has commenced the construction of Busabala Medical Centre. The rightful owner according to availed documents, Dj Erycom says Kuluthum contacted him to buy the land but has since failed to pay the total agreed sum of money” (100.2 Galaxy FM Zzina!, 08.02.2024)

This here man Gereson Wabuyi aka Gravity Omutujju thinks his clever. Nah, scratch that. He thinks his the wisest man in the room and who has all the answers. Gravity believes that everything encircles around him and whatever gig his doing. That’s how things are looking.

Gravity expects the Opposition Leader to deliver government services and donate his land to build a government facility. That’s not merited anyone and is up to the owner of the set land. Nevertheless, the artist believes it is within his rights to demand that from Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. That’s his supposed to give up and sign off land in Busabala to the “hospital” or the “medical centre” Gravity is building.

Alas, here is where the problem remains. The owner is within rights to use their plot as they pleases. Secondly, Bobi Wine can use his platform, party and leadership the way he pleases too. There is nothing the opposition needs to or have too. Unless, it is to challenge and be guarding principals that the government isn’t upholding.

The National Unity Platform and Bobi Wine aren’t the ones who is supposed to facilitate or supply government services. It is the government and the state organizations that is supposed to deliver government services. That’s why Gravity is asking the wrong brother to act on his behalf and he should know this.

Whatever Gravity wants out of it all is hard to know. As it is a solo mission and it only shows either his greed for a plot of land or him undermining his own character. Because this isn’t clever, smart or wise. Instead it shows that there is a need for civic education and lessons to be taught. Since there are some missing marbles here and some knowledge that isn’t common sense apparently.

Gravity might get some locals happy and everyone deserves a health care facility nearby. No shade thrown at that, but the manner of which he has done it. That’s where you can fault him. The execution and asking for Bobi Wine to fix it. When it is the Ministry of Health and government entities that should do the bidding.

This is certainly not a finished saga just yet. As we know people with big egos and little cliff-notes will do unhinged things. We can just expect more drama and lack of understanding of how things operate. In the grand scheme of things, that doesn’t matter to Gravity as long as he makes headlines and is sort of relevant. Peace.

Opinion: The PLU is for Muhoozi and not for the Republic

The First Son’s launch of the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) it is only made for one reason and one reason only. It is only made for Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga. They can call it a “civic organization” and even some said it was made for a “transitional” purpose, which means for after Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

This is the “Project Muhoozi” in the flesh. It isn’t a figment of imagination or an idea. No, the MK Army, the MK Movement and now the Patriotic League of Uganda is all there for one man. That one man being the Senior Presidential Advisor and the First Son. It is all made and prepared for him. Where his minions and the high-ranking officials surrounding him bashes in the glory. That’s all they are doing and making so much noise like it is special.

This is just a step to further prepare Muhoozi for grander things. Just like the foreign envoys trips to Kenya and Rwanda. Make him ready and let him taste the juices of politics. Now this is the organization and the party for 2026. There is nothing else to say about it.

That’s why dozens of National Resistance Movement (NRM) MPs and other cronies like the sold-out MPs from the National Unity Platform (NUP) showed up too. There was several cabinet ministers and officials from the NRM party itself. It is all show of who is who and who are loyal to the First Son. As his party and special purpose vehicle is prepared for the next election.

The ones believing this will be something is naïve. It is too late and we know he has ambitions. This started with the birthday bashes and the sporting events. Then the various formations and yes-men creating organizations to make him look “popular”. Now they are taking it a step further and making him ready for the big league. The puppy now has to show fully flex and what muscle he carries.

The Proclamation itself states clearly that it derives from the NRM. As the same incentives and sloganeering as his father is known for. It is like his copying his fathers homework and calling it his own. Just like the name too, which like UPM has the Patriotic side in it. The generations down and the family still have to use the same rhetoric and moral ambiguity to be selling to the masses. Alas, the people have seen what the father has done and who believes the son will be any better? Seriously?

The son who is a brute, army commander and who has used his role as the Commander of Special Forces Command to torture, arbitrary arrest and kill dissidents. That’s what his been doing and we recognize him for it. His soldiers and troops have been used for evil and not for the common good. That’s why it’s hard to believe that this man will serve the public with care or concern. No, it’s all a bid for him to inherit the Republic and install a pseudo “monarchy” of the Museveni clan. That’s it really and they cannot fool around with it anymore either. We see it and others does too.

The creation of the PLU isn’t for the betterment or purposely created for good governance. No, it is all for Muhoozi and his ego. It is all for his future and his progress. That’s all too it. There is no gold on the other side of the rainbow. No, only a empty refuge of scavengers trying to find their next plate to eat beside the designated leader. That’s all the others are doing and they are bidding to show loyalty, because that is more valuable than intellect. This is proven now and with time all of that will wither. As the center will not hold and the grip will loosen. When that moment strikes. That’s when the house of cards falls, and the “majesty” will lose his crown. Peace.

Opinion: Nabbanja cannot lie about the Red Berets…

“The issue of berets, I always see people putting them on and I haven’t seen anybody arrested, including MPs here, I see you putting them on, but I haven’t seen anybody being arrested, even Joel Ssenyonyi is usually on berets, have you ever been arrested? Have you ever been arrested?” – Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja (07.02.2024).

We have a familiar discussion and it’s nothing new. Not long ago the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) gazetted and made it illegal to wear “red berets” in the Republic. That is public knowledge, that happened as a result of the People Power Movement and the rise of Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in the political sphere.

However, as time has gone on and it has become normalized. The red beret haven’t been used as a mean to target and arrest people. While in the beginning the authorities has arrested civilians, activists and people for wearing it. The authorities even went after Bobi Wine for wearing it years ago. Therefore, the Prime Minister is lying.

There is people behind bars for wearing an attire. They had the “red beret” and that was enough reason for them to arrested and detained. This is why people are reacting when they are seeing Andrew Mwenda and Lillian Arber wearing military uniform. These high-ranking officials within the regime are allowed to wear military attire, but others are charged, arrested, and detained for doing the same.

This just shows there is a difference between the average joe and the ones who is connected. The ones who has a function and a role within the regime can get off the hook, but civilians and others have to beg for mercy. This is the gist here.

It is not funny that the Prime Minister is mocking this. When we know of individuals who are charged and having trials in Court Martial as civilians for wearing “red berets”. Maybe it hasn’t caused headlines in recent time, but in the last few years there are incidents of this. There are times when the authorities have gone after politicians, activists and civilians for wearing that.

This is why the PM in her arrogance forgets the plights and the hardships of the ones on the frontline. The PM can do this, because she is living the fine life now. She has achieved everything and living in her golden era. That’s why the PM can mock it and laugh at the Opposition for questioning this.

While the PM disregard the citizens who are behind bars for this, but her allies are allowed to cosplay as soldiers or uniformed personnel. So, please step your game up. This isn’t it. We should feel sorry for the ones behind bars for wearing the red beret. They shouldn’t be there, but they are.

These people are prisoners of conscience and out of political affiliation. Peace.

Opinion: Muhoozi is now trying out his father’s scenic route…

“Today I had the honor to unveil our new formation from MK Movement to Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) a civic organization. The PLU will at all time remain non-partisan,  non-denominational and non-sectarian. The future of this country Uganda is indeed bright!” – Michael Mawanda, Igara East MP (07.02.2024)

It is now confirmed, and a proclamation has been released, the Muhoozi Kainerubaga Movement is rebranded and become the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU). The out of the First Son and Senior Presidential Advisor Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga has gone from the MK Army – MK Movement and into the Patriotic League of Uganda.

The launch of the PLU is evident that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is part of it. That’s been evident for so long, as Muhoozi has poached people in the NRM and elected officials from there. As well, as others who can be vocal and be voices that sings his psalms.

While reading the proclamation of the PLU. It is evident that the son is using all the sloganeering of his father’s words of the years as his “reviving patriotism”, “non-partisan” and “non-sectarian”. It is just re-amping the known traits of his father. This isn’t even trying, but photo-copying his fathers work and calling it his own.

What is striking is that the MK Movement which is rebranded is re-organized to become the PLU. That’s to sound grand and bigger than life. However, it is just using familiar words and trying to make things supreme.

While the son is following the sins of his father, as in 1980 Yoweri Museveni ran as a Presidential Candidate for the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) and now his son has his PLU. They are both “patriotic” and using the same pattern of existence.

The ones believing this is a revolutionary thing. No, this is just finalization of “Project Muhoozi” and the succession of Yoweri. That’s all it is and the whole apparatus of the state is in action. This is why MPs and MK Movement was filled with high-ranking officials from the state. They are all gearing things up.

The PLU is now a civic organization, but we know this is a political move. It is to ensure and give way for Muhoozi. The ones believing this for the betterment of the Republic. No, this is an organization to make Muhoozi relevant and let him play around as a “voice of reason”.

That’s all it is… and it is so obvious. The usage of funds and ability to do this is just showing how blatant things are. The son and his handlers have the funds to make such a push. They got the coins and the funding to rebrand, rebuild and restructure itself. Even if it is mere months since the consolidation of the MK Organizations into the MK Movement. Now the same things have become yet another thing.

This is to create bid for 2026 for Muhoozi. He needs a platform and an organization behind him. They are not doing this fun or the enjoyment of high-ranking officials. The 2024 UPM is now official and daddy must have approved it. Muhoozi must know that his father ran on a Patriotic ticket in 1980 and now he does the same in our time. Certainly, there is nothing new under the sun, but we are just getting more “hot air”. Peace.

Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU): Proclamation (07.02.2024)

Opinion: Kagabo MP do yourself a favor and become yellow…

“That is their opinion, you know any opinion that ignores the facts is inclined to a fool or an idiot. This invite had an agenda, it isn’t perfunctory that you saw me in State House. I went to State House to meet the President, not NRM. Those are two different things. I pray to God that he gives you the wits to know the difference between meeting the President and party issues, they are very distinct. Just pray to God that He gives you that wisdom to demystify the two” – Twaha Kagabo (Bukoto South MP, National Unity Platform (NUP)) – (06.02.2024)

There is no turning back after a person announces their allegiance towards another movement or party. That’s when you should in good conscience leave the old party or movement to seek refuge where you belong. It is the same for the ones leaving National Resistance Movement (NRM) for other opposition parties. The same for opposition party members to join the NRM.

In this regard, the man who professes loyalty to the MK Movement and still being associated with the National Unity Platform (NUP). That is just ridiculous and foolish at this point. He either stands by the loyalty of the first family or he works to topple the dictator. He cannot be both a meat-eater and a vegetarian. The MP must decide if he is in defiance or in compliance. That’s all up to him.

Kagabo MP is within his own rights to choose either to be by Robert Kyagulanyi or Muhoozi Kainerubaga. However, he cannot be both Bobi Wine or the First Son. He cannot be a token soldier for the Standby Generator and be activist for the Bad Man of Kamwokya, No, that isn’t how this one works.

It isn’t smart, wise or brilliant. It is foolish actually. Partly the way he moves and navigates, is that he should renounce his membership in the NUP and become an Independent MP the rest of the term. That’s if he wanted to comply with Parliamentary rules. However, he thinks his the wisest in the room, which he isn’t and it’s obvious.

Kagabo MP is a sign of failing civic education and lack of protocol. As he can dance between the parties and wherever he deems fit. Meaning he has no basic understanding or can acknowledge where he politically stands. He can be bought and sold on the market, because he has no integrity or moral backbone to begin with. If so… he wouldn’t think that he can be in opposition and dance with the MK Movement. Seriously, that is math that isn’t adding up.

This man needs guidance. Not that the NUP will miss this man. His a man with no substance or heart. He is a man that can bought by shiny things and lofty promises, which will be shattered. As his a useful pawn now, but in the future, the NRM will dump him or if not the MK Movement. Sooner or later, it will dawn on him, but I wouldn’t count on it.

He hasn’t learned from Jennifer Full Figure, Ashburg Katto or anyone else who traded their soul. His just another one and he cannot phantom it yet. Peace.

Dokolo By-Election: Hereditary politics is the tone of the nation…

“Cecilia Ogwal’s family has fronted her daughter Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal to replace her as Dokolo Woman MP. Alwoc Ogwal has been living in the UK and is not well versed with Dokolo. Her brother however says she has been briefed on the issues and is ready to stand” (News 24/7, 31.01.2024).

“Rosemary Alwoc Ogwal, first born daughter to the late Cecilia Barbara Atim Ogwal and Mzee Lamech Ogwal seek public opinion regarding pending projects the legislature left behind. This was during the Joint Regional council session Dokolo” (94.3 QFM Lira, 31.01.2024).

We have now seen this sort of story play out elsewhere when someone dies in office. This happened with Jacob Oulanyah and others like him. Where the sons are inheriting the offices of their fathers. Now a daughter is running to continue the legacy of her mother. There is no difference here other than the gender.

In Omoro County it was like this in 2022. Oyam North By-Election in 2023 was the same and so was Serere County By-Election in the same year. It was all inherited and family members taking over from the late Members of Parliament. This will be the fourth in this 11th Parliament alone and this practice is going back to 2012 and when Prosvocia Alengot got elected as the MP for Usuk County in Katekwi district. She got the office and the opportunity after her father passed away. Therefore, this is now a practice dating back to this.

While that all be true, and we have seen this as common practice. It surely is questionable and a form of nepotism. As families are now fencing in offices and ensuring their control of elected roles. That’s what they are doing by fielding family members.

This is surely questionable at best, as the citizens and the constituents are tricked to vote out of compassion or based on the narrative that the representative’s family is the righteous to leadership roles. While others in the same districts and counties are left behind. Were only handpicked individuals are getting ahead of the rest. That’s what is happening, and no one is shocked that the family of the late Cecilia Ogwal wants a continuation of her role.

We are just seeing a pattern of behavior and a common practice at this point. Because, if a family member dies in office. The family itself wants to ensure someone within the family takes over from them. This is the justification and pure hereditary politics. Where blood and kin matter more than stature, experience or even character. Heck, pledges or promises, even the so-called ethos of work is gone in the wind. Since the only thing matters is who was your father or mother. Not if you are qualified or not.

This isn’t Rosemary Ogwal’s fault, but she is a part of the same problem as the others. She is picked by family members who wants their family to have this privilege. That is the obvious path here. They want to eat of the plate and ensure their family wealth through representing Dokolo like her mother. Therefore, things are more of the same and someone who inherits office.

There will be other contestants and candidates who will linger. However, if the previous by-elections are telling. Than Rosemary will be first in line and get elected. That we saw in Serere, Oyam North and Omoro. It wouldn’t be out of order, if the same happens in Dokolo. Peace.

Opinion: 38 years of wasted energy…

You would think someone who has ruled a nation for 38 years would have more to celebrate. Someone that has been in-charge and been in office for close to 40 years should be settled. The President and the National Resistance Movement (NRM) should have been revered and popular. However, the only thing keeping it afloat and in office is the total control of the state apparatus. The NRM and the President runs things by force and by decree. That’s why his still there after all these years…

President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni could have retired in grace a long time ago. Then people would have given way and been more forgiving to his shortcomings. They would have seen him as a victor and someone who brought proper change. However, as time moves on, the pain is becoming more dire and the wasted time is evident too.

As the Fountain of Honor and His Excellency, the President has had the ability to make significant difference. He could have made vast policy changes and state programs that would affect society for decades after his reign. Nevertheless, a man who is self-serving and pro-himself. That’s why his wealth and riches are more vital than the needs of the republic.

Museveni and the NRM has had their chances, and they could have done a lot of more. Especially, in the era of being donor darling and being the “new breed” of leaders. That’s when Museveni could have ushered in a new era for the Republic.

Now we see that didn’t matter and he spoilt it all. The lessons and lectures over the years is showing that the President knows what is wrong, but his not willingly dealing with it. Instead, he has institutionalized the problems, bottlenecks and rather looks away from the crippling duplications of the state. While there is a tendency to siphon funds and they go “missing”. The words of “missing funds” have become a proverb in his time. Just like it is common knowledge that ghosts appears on paper across government entities. It doesn’t matter sort of ghost there is, but we know they are there, and someone is eating because of it.

We have seen all sorts of plans, pledges and promises. While the West Nile is left in the dark. The education sector is hurting. The Ministry of Health isn’t in a better state either. Neither is the road networks or anything else the state is supposed to deliver. Unless it is involving the army and the law enforcement. Then it is left behind and that’s what the NRM has prioritized over the years.

Museveni knows he needs LDUs, Soldiers and Police Officers to survive in office. That’s the men and woman who is at his backing-call. They are there in the moments of need and can stifle whoever stands up to him. The authorities and the state deliberately block, intervene, and ensures fear is in the air. They are using violence and brutality to show who is ruling. This is why it is either the “NRM Way” or the possible demise of someone who dares to challenge that.

Museveni and his people can act like this isn’t the case. We have all seen this. The Ten Point Program and all the other fancy plans have been thwarted. They are all in the dust-bin of history and only made to foil donors or the ones willing to cover the tab. That’s how it looks like in 2024.

38 years and Museveni have little to show for it. Unless, he wants to speak about Presidential Advisors, huge cabinet and the amounts of staff at the State House or the Office of the Presidency. I am sure he could say that has ballooned over the years. Just like the number of districts and counties over the years. There is so many and still… there is little to nothing delivered to the communities at large. That’s why you know the system is rotten from the top and it’s a deliberate act from His Excellency.

We can act surprised and shocked, but this man promised to leave after 8 years and never to alter the 1995 constitution. However, he did so twice for his own benefit and ability to rule for life. That’s who he is and his speeches means little when his action is obviously in stark contrast to how he rules the nation.

This is who Museveni is and we can all see it. He isn’t a savior or a man who really liberated the nation. He liberated himself and his inner circle, but the rest of republic is living under his mercy. It is his decision and choices that allows or blocks their liberties. They are either under his wings or in danger of being crucified. That’s who Museveni is and we all have seen it.

He came with massive promises, and he didn’t deliver. His stock has dwindled over the years and he cannot control the masses like he did in the past. Neither can the flow of information be controlled either. That’s why he could be silent about the conflict in the north that persisted for years after taking office in the 1980s. However, he couldn’t have been able to do the same now. We would see, hear or get snippets of evidence of what is going down, which is something His Excellency don’t want you to know.

Museveni has lived on a lie, defended the lie and extended the lie. We can just wonder if he would ever dare to say the truth and be blunt about what he has done. As time goes by and the acts of mischief is clear. We can just wonder if Museveni would care or be concerned about the true legacy he leaves behind.

He won’t beloved or be a hero. For some he will be, but for plenty who has been scorned and felt the iron-fist. They will never forgive a man who wielded the sword the way he did and he could have avoided doing so. Peace.

Opinion: The bad man can play games…

The theatrics continues on the 5th Day of House Arrest for Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. He has already been to church, eaten in the ghetto and used boda-boda to cross the Greater Kampala region.

On the fifth day he was spotted using taxi’s to skirt through road-blocks and pass by the security detail. As he was a fugitive and an outlaw in his own homestead. Therefore, his popularity and the solidarity of fellow citizens have helped him these days. As the law enforcement and the security agencies are supposed to be keep him at home. Alas, they are not capable even with the military presence and with bunch of police officers to in Magere, Wakiso district.

That he was using a taxi and not being spotted says something. As he has used the boda-boda before and could easily do that again. He just shows how he is able move and get around. Even if he is supposed to be under house-arrest.

The ones in-charge of the detail and stationed at Magere must feel foolish. They must feel dumb, as they are bound by orders and sitting by a house. However, at the house isn’t their VIP or the “prisoner”. No he is traversing Kampala and the nearby area like nothing.

Today he travelled to Iganga and proved what he was capable of. It just shows that his not out reach and can “avoid the arrest”. While the state tries to keep him “pre-emptive arrested” for the moment. Which isn’t successful, as he visit restaurants, churches and shrines. Just to prove a point, because his party and allies isn’t allowed to demonstrate or assemble like the constitutional rights gives them. Therefore, his just acting in resistance and defiance of the state.

His acts of going outside his home and travelling like a commoner. Sets him apart from other. A man of his now ranks shows his savvy-ness and ability to be an average citizen. Because, his the former bad man of Kamwokya and everyone knows this. His a kid from the ghetto who rose up to prominence.

That’s why these actions matters, as it is humiliates the state and its apparatus. It shows that it is possible to trick the system and get away with it. That’s what he has done and perfected it too. This is the fifth day and the “house-arrest” isn’t working this time around.

Not to Bobi Wine. He is able to get off the hook and still be at liberty of travelling. Even if it is not in any of his vehicles or personal transport with a driver. He is stuck with public transport and use the means of the common man. That is compelling and tells a story that the authorities and the ruling regime don’t want.

Bobi Wine has enough power and popularity that he can get away with it and people will help him. They are willing and caring to do so. That’s what they are showing and they happy to do so. This is something the state and the security organizations will hate. Because, his popularity and gravitas is helping him along the way. Peace.

Continued house-arrest of opposition leaders… [on the fourth day]

Since 18th January 2024 there been opposition leaders put under house-arrest in the Republic. These are Erias Lukwago, Dr. Kizza Besigye and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. Even if Bobi Wine has on three occasions been able to slip out and enjoy the resistance.

The facts remains that in Kasangati and in Wakiso District where Besigye and Bobi Wine lives have been put up road-blocks and facilities to keep them under siege. In Magere though, the law enforcement struggles to contain Bobi Wine as he slips out and gets to see the ghettos of Kampala even.

While Besigye have been locked inside and the same has Lukwago. This is pre-emptive arrests and they have been kept for four days now. It is the double of the 48 hours rule before being arraigned in court. They are just continuing the norm of acting outside the laws and skirt them to justify detention of opposition leaders.

No one should be surprised by this in 2024. This is the democracy and the multi-party democracy that reflects the vision of Museveni. It is his mannerisms and his vision that is actively followed. The orders from the high above and the acts of impunity towards the ones who defies him. That’s why these leaders are in trouble and in legal jeopardy, yet again.

Certainly, the NRM and the Uganda Police Force will come with excuses. Surely, the safeguarding of the national security and endangering of society will be one of the reasons for arresting them on the spot. Keeping them detained in their own houses and taking away their liberties.

While Bobi Wine has to flee from his house like a common crook and hope he isn’t captured on his expeditions or adventures across the Greater Kampala region. As he visit Kampala and Wakiso through his journeys.

There is reasons for everything, but we have seen this game being played out before and nothing new under the sun. The reasons now was to contain them while Museveni had visitors and not humiliate him to much with resistance and defiance against the state. That’s why they did this and had to use the military and police to keep them at bay.

This is what we know, but we all see the quagmire too. As the Republic, the officers and the authorities has to make things up to make it “believable” and secondly there is no good “case” or justification for the continued arrest. It only shows what sort of state of freedom and liberty the state serves the nation. How it can easily take it away and don’t even bother to have proper reasons for doing so. Peace.
