Opinion: Fear for tomorrow’s Homecoming of Besigye, not for the reasons you might think!

Entebbe Road Kampala 11.02.2016 FDC Convoy P2
Entebbe Road on 11th February 2016 – FDC Convoy!

I fear for tomorrow and for the roads from Entebbe International Airport tomorrow. That is because the Uganda Police Force have beaten civilians with batons and thrown tear-gas steady through 2015-2016. As long as the Forum for Democratic Change and former Presidential Candidate Dr. Kizza Besigye have drove or been around somewhere the Police Force has used excessive force towards the ordinary people.

I also fear for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC), even as the organizers of the return of Besigye have been at the Police Force. They we’re detained as is tradition by now for the IGP Kale Kayihura colleagues and family. Who takes in Political Opposition into jail daily if they could for no apparent reason; but on this rare occasion the Police actually talked to FDC Youth and others who are behind the procession.

The Procession will happen if they we’re organizing or not, since if you have followed the political leader Besigye, you know his real popularity and the reasons for his epical rise. Also if you have followed the man you know the ending of it; if it is business as usual in Kampala.

The National Resistance Movement and Uganda Police Force are two tightknit bodies who work for the general calm and control of all people under the vision of the old man with the hat. That is an unwritten rule and guideline that was forgotten to amend into the 1995 Constitution; nevertheless, the outcomes are usually the same.

There will be Police Brutality and will be people detained tomorrow, the Besigye himself will be taken from his car at some point. Harold Kajja, Ingrid Turinawe, Erias Lukwago, Pastor David Ngabo, Doreen Nyanjura, Wafula Oguttu and others might be detained after their cars been taken away at the same time. The planned rally or consulting meeting will be dispersed by the Police Force as well.

Kale Kayihura Choose Peace

Afterwards the AIGP Kaweesi will sweet-talk on NTV Uganda and NBS TV using all kind of excuses and say the Police Officers was doing so because of criminal activity, looting, exodus of rats, thieving and the unauthorized movement not complying with Public Order Management Act; the infamous Anti-Besigye Act. Because it was created to silence the public and the opportunity for him to garn crowds without having the authorities to silence them with protection of a government sanctions towards him and his party.

With this in mind, I fear tomorrow, it should be jolly, but I don’t. I have no faith in the NRM and their Police Commanders doing something positive and something that resemble justice at this point .The rotten acts of misbehaviour and violence that has been sanctioned over decades under President Yoweri Museveni doesn’t just stop. Even if he is living in riches and ignorance of the commoners struggle. Hey, he is rich and has all the wealth he could dream of in the bush before overthrowing the Kampala Political-Junta of the time.

So, with this in mind he has taken it all for granted and his nemesis is arriving on Entebbe tomorrow. It will be hostile and the suspect of treason arrives from Europe. I am not hopeful, I am not; do I wish it was different? Yes! Do I think it will be different? No. Not unless there are some people who a filling in forms for redemption.

The Police Force I expect tomorrow to create chaos on the road between Entebbe-Kampala-Kasangati. That the FDC Headquarters in Najjankumbi might even also be hit as the Treason Charged Michael Kabaziguruka and Dr. Kizza Besigye both might still have evidence shelved there.

The Police and their henchmen will use all kind of accusations to validate the violence on the citizens and the FDC who organize tomorrow “Homecoming” of Besigye. If not there are clearly a charade of decency that is unnatural under the leadership of Gen. Kayihura and Gen. Museveni. They cannot do anything else than use their tools to oppress their civilians. Peace.

Zimbabwe: I’m impressed by the Zanu-PF officially banning they’re own National Flag!

Evan Mawarire 13.07.2016

Well, President Mugabe has never been totally rational as his service has always been run on the emotions and the irrational belief that he is the only character that can run the Nation after the Smith Government. Now, the Zanu-PF is full circle as the #ThisFlag movement is so powerful that the leaked information on outrages part of business from the Southern African state comes.

That is not banning demonstrations, more police brutality that is so regular that the tongues get comfortable numb. The Zanu-PF the Secretary for Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Virginia Mabiza have signed a document saying that using the National Symbol of Zimbabwe Flag is no illegal. If you import, produce or wear anything with the National Flag of the proud the nation you can get fined $200! If you’re unlucky you can get impersonated up-to 6 months. In the document surfacing is even saying that the ones doing this illegal activity as the manufacture or wearing as this is seen as an illegal activity.

This proves how far the nonsense of the ruling regime, the draconian laws that are into levels of ridiculous as before where they went it more expensive to go online and buy computers. The level of impunity, the National Assembly will soon make it illegal to jaywalk and will make traditional dresses illegal to wear as they represent the Zimbabwean idea. The Zimbabwean idea that isn’t made in the image of Mugabe or his Zanu-PF who thinks they own the people and their minds.

Zanu-PF you have impressed with me with your foolishness and this proves that you’re so far from legitimate government that can be as your soon also making the National Animal or National Bird from being printed on Merchandize. Kudos props and acknowledges the abuse of movement, freedom and liberty of the citizens of Zimbabwe.

The Citizens should be allowed without any questions honour the national flag and use it the way they see fit. The Government shouldn’t sanction it unless they would use it to detoriate or do unholy stuff to it. Like the Zanu-PF youth who burned it after a #ThisFlag demonstrations earlier this year. That Pastor Evan Mawarire and his organizing have hurt the Zanu-PF so much that they want to stop their own citizens from using their own National Symbol!

But hey, the Chinese are offering blood-money for you to build 650 seats in Parliament in Harare. So the Zanu-PF gets a pay day while using excessive force to silence their opposition. Peace.

Press Release: President Mugabe’s attack on Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission uncalled for (12.09.2016)

zimbabwe-human-rights-commission

Harare –The Zimbabwe Human Rights Association (ZimRights) takes seriously the recent attacks by President Robert Mugabe on the Zimbabwe Human Rights Commission (ZHRC) as reflective of the Head of State and Government’s worrisome and negative attitude towards basic human rights in the country.

Following a report of investigations by the ZHRC on human rights violations concerning partisan food aid distribution, the President launched personal attacks on the Human Rights Commission’s chairperson, Mr. Elasto Mugwadi, and other Commissioners and deployed language meant to denigrate them and discredit their important work.

The President should be reminded that the independent constitutional Commission does not report to individual politicians, but to the Parliament of Zimbabwe which is a separate arm from the executive.

The Human Commission should be allowed to carry out is mandate without being subjected to unwarranted abuse, interference, and naked threats from political actors in evident disregard of the requirement that the constitutional body should conduct its public business independently.

As a Head of State and Government who is sworn to defending the people-driven Constitution of Zimbabwe, President Mugabe’s utterances betray a knee-jerk inclination to defend his political party, Zanu-PF’s officials who are accused of perpetuating discrimination than his constitutional duty and the public good to serve all citizens regardless of political affiliation.

Sections of 56 of the Constitution of Zimbabwe ensures equality and non-discrimination, and Section 77 guarantees the right to food, and the acts of partisan distribution of food aid and agricultural inputs grossly violate these fundamental human rights.

The revelations by the ZHRC are not new as many similar cases of discrimination in food aid and agricultural inputs were repeatedly reported by various civil society organisations, including ZimRights, the media and certain Members of Parliament over the past months, since and even before the onset of the current drought affecting many parts of the country.

This wave of concern from various stakeholders prompted earlier remarks from the President and Labour and Social Welfare Minister clarifying the position that government policy did not endorse discrimination in social welfare programs.

Given the importance of the human rights matter during the ongoing El-Nino induced drought affecting over 4 million people in the country, and the relief efforts by the government and humanitarian agencies, the ZHRC had a clear duty to investigate the continued concerns of discrimination brought to it by members of affected communities.

If President Robert Mugabe was true to his earlier word against discrimination the report by the ZHRC should move the government to discipline officials who are involved and perpetuating the human rights violations against government policy, the Constitution’s Bill of Rights and international human rights and humanitarian principles.

ZimRights is therefore concerned that despite spirited efforts by other stakeholders and of late the ZHRC, the utterances to the effect that these reports are false by the President encourages rather than discourage public officials who are behind such a clearly unconstitutional and inhuman practise that violates Ubuntu/Unhu.
