Ethiopia: UN Organizations celebrates mediocrity – Humanitarian Assistance Blockade still ravaging large in Tigray region

All 50 trucks just arrived safely in #Mekelle, bringing essential humanitarian supplies including:

➡️1,000mt of wheat & pulses

➡️700mt of health, nutrition & WASH items

+ 115,000 litres of fuel” (World Food Programme Ethiopia, 15.04.2022).

Since the humanitarian truce of 24th March 2022 and that is 22 days of supposed opening of entry to the Tigray region. However, previously there has only come about 21 trucks into the region early in April. Now by the middle of the month on the 15th April it has come another 50 trucks. The United Nations and World Food Programme (WFP) praising the FDRE over it is obnoxious. When you know how the state has been working and using food insecurity as a weapon.

The region by previous estimates of needs are 100 trucks per day. In the middle of only the humanitarian truce by now. It would mean the UN and WFP should have driven convoys of a 100, every single day. However, they are barely scraping that after two famous entries of about 75 trucks on max. That isn’t something to salute. In the time of the Humanitarian Truce the region should have seen about 2000 trucks and such. To be exact, the state should have ensured that the region could see 2200 trucks get into Tigray.

The recent OCHA reports states the situation like this:

Humanitarian partners have not been able to move any additional aid supplies into Tigray via the Semera-Abala-Mekelle since the convoy of 20 trucks with food and nutrition supplies and one fuel tanker that arrived on 1 and 2 April, the first convoy since 15 December 2021. Humanitarian organizations in Tigray are facing growing challenges in reaching people in need due to shortages of essential supplies, and the continuing suspension of basic essential services, including banking, electricity, and communications. Food partners, for instance, remain with only around 1,300 metric tons (MT) of food commodities within Tigray out of which, there is merely enough stock or 360 MT to feed about 21,000 people with a balanced three-commodity food basket for one round. Between 4 and 8 April, humanitarian partners airlifted 100 MT of nutrition and medical supplies to Mekelle, Tigray. As of 11 April, the total amount of medical and nutrition supplies airlifted since the first cargo flight on 24 January is about 538 MT, equivalent to only 13 trucks of humanitarian supplies. The supplies included about 36 MT of HIV anti-retroviral medicines, the first time since July 2021. This will be enough to treat 46,000 HIV patients for six months. The airlifts remain limited to low quantities between 5 and 13 MT per flight and were prioritized according to the most urgent lifesaving needs, therefore cannot fill in the significant gap between the needs on the ground and the supplies delivered” (OCHA, 14.04.2022).

More than 9 million people need food assistance in northern Ethiopia and food assistance will be required throughout 2022 across northern Ethiopia. Provision of food assistance in hard-to-reach areas in Tigray, Amhara and Afar. Increased food needs due to increased number of IDPs in parts of Amhara and in Afar” (OCHA, 14.04.2022).

So, when you read what the last round of humanitarian assistance was able to help, which is about 21,000 people. You know the amount of trucks of humanitarian assistance versus the needs of the millions of people. It is easy to see the gaps which is enormous. This just shows how the humanitarian assistance have been weaponized and it’s a man-made famine.

The entries of the about the 75 trucks is only an anomaly and only patches the hurt, but it doesn’t fix the problems. This isn’t something to celebrate or sound victories. No, this is just disgraceful and shows how distasteful the FDRE are. The FDRE and Tripartite Alliance has created this monster, they are proud of blocking people’s ability to eat and starve them on-mass. That’s why they have allowed 75 trucks in a period the state should have seen over 2000 trucks should have entered the same area. That’s how unserious and careless they are about the plights of the Tigray region. The Addis Ababa and Asmara ruling elites wouldn’t care if Mekelle would burn to the ground and be left in the dust. That is what they are doing and we are not supposed to say anything.

The 75 trucks isn’t worth texts of gravitas and sending pigeons to Bahir Dar. No, it deserves contempt, as much contempt as the current regime has for the Tigray region. Peace.

Ethiopia-Eritrea: Shabait says Badme is theirs, the conflict over the Badme triangle… never ends…

Even before the economic issue became important, however, in July 1997, Ethiopian forces occupied part of the Badda District, a small, remote, but more fertile area close to the Danakil depression, and replaced the Eritrean administration in the village of Adi Murug. The claim was on historical grounds, and based on the “inaccuracy” of current maps. The most widely used map of Eritrea, published in 1995 by the Eritrean Government in cooperation with the University of Berne, shows only Eritrean territory; neighbouring countries are simply marked in grey. Unhelpfully, this map shows neither Adi Murug nor Badme nor places just across the Ethiopian border, such as Zalambessa. Despite its claims, the map presented by the Ethiopian government to representatives of the international community in Addis Ababa in May 1998 showed the border in the same way as in all current atlases. A month later, however, the provincial authorities in Mekelle (Tigray) produced a different map – funded, in their case, in cooperation with the German government which showed several areas hitherto considered part of Eritrea coming within the Ethiopian border” (Margaret Fielding – ‘BAD TIMES IN BADME: BITTER WARFARE CONTINUES ALONG THE ERITREA-ETHIOPIA BORDER’ – IBRU Boundary and Security Bulletin Spring 1999).

The Tripartite Alliance are still very active and there is reports of furthering the war in the Tigray Region. The reports that the Eritrean Defence Force has been stationed and vital in the warfare in the Tigrayan war of late is an understatement. The EDF has been one of the reasons why the Tigray region was invaded and they occupied it whole for some time. That was a retaliation of old grudges and wanted to settle old grievances. Therefore… that Shabait brings back the Badme Triangle.

Shows that the Eritrean government planned all along to annex and get the territory, which has been contested. The Ethiopian government has also claimed this land and the Badme Territory. Now, the Eritrean government claims it theirs and that the recent peace agreement of 2018 is stating so. This means the Tigray Regional Government have to give up this territory and let the demarcation of the border continue. That is evident and the Eritrean government does this… as they have allies in Addis Ababa and wants Mekelle to know that.

Here is the most interesting parts of the Shabait piece published today:

When TPLF’s military campaigns was thwarted by a costly defeat at the Assab Front in June 2000, it was finally forced to accept cessation of hostilities and later the entire Algiers Peace Agreement on December 12, 2000. The Algiers Agreement created a court of arbitration, the EEBC. The Algiers Agreement also stipulated, in categorical terms, that “the parties agree that the delimitation and demarcation determinations of the Commission shall be final and binding”. But notwithstanding the unequivocal provisions of the Algiers Agreement, the EEBC decision was not enforced by the UN Security Council because principal sponsors – especially the US and the EU – failed to honour their obligations for their own narrow geopolitical considerations. When the EEBC decision was announced, Seyoum Mesfin, Ethiopia’s Foreign Minister at the time falsely claimed that “Badme was awarded to Ethiopia”. He urged the international community to use punitive sanctions if necessary, to secure Eritrea’s full and immediate compliance with the provisions of the EEBC Award. The Foreign Minister and his government were soon to make a u-turn, sing a different song and reject the EEBC Award. Subsequent sessions of the EEBC were marked by Ethiopia’s dilatory tactics. Thus, in its 16th Report to the UN in 2006, the Commission was compelled to write: “Ethiopia is not prepared to allow demarcation to continue in the manner laid down in the demarcation directions and in accordance with the timeline set by the Commission.” (…) “The course of events changed when Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed declared Ethiopia’s readiness to accept and implement in full the Decision of the Boundary Commission. Following his visit to Asmara, a Joint Declaration on Peace and Friendship was signed between Eritrea and Ethiopia on July 9, 2018. The Declaration brought to an end eighteen years of ‘no war no peace’ between Ethiopia and Eritrea and opened a new era of peace and friendship. Article four of the Joint Agreement stipulates that “The two countries will implement the Eritrea-Ethiopia Boundary Commission decision.” (Shabait – ‘We do Not Relinquish What is ours; Nor do We Covet What Belongs to Others: (Natna Aynhbn Zeynatna Ayndeln)’ 13.04.2022).

We know these ideals of Badme is old by now. As it has been part of the independence of Eritrea from Ethiopia. The Eritrean government is willing to use Italian colonial maps to prove it too. That the land and territory belongs to them.

That’s why Eritrea Daily wrote this in 2005: “At worst, the status of Badme is unclear, at best, Badme is part of Eritrea and never Ethiopian. Regardless, if there is any one left that believes Ethiopia has accepted the border ruling, here is the proof to the contrary: In a clear demonstration of its defiance of the border ruling, Ethiopia today reported that it has started registering voters in the village of Eritrean Badme for the upcoming “elections.” The international community cannot remain indifferent to this Ethiopia’s provocative action?” (EDNews, 22.01.2005).

So, the Eritrean claims are old and they are pursuing them still. What is striking is the Tripartite Alliance way of violating, war-crimes and weaponizing humanitarian assistance isn’t helping the cause of Asmara. Even if the Badme triangle or parts of Badda district is belonging to Eritrea. Their forces and the acts done in Tigray region will not help them legitimizing it. Instead, there will no goodwill and no wishes of recognizing the border between the two nations. They will rather ensure the investigations into the warfare, the violations of the Geneva convention and crimes against humanity.

The Eritrean government could be within their rights and have historical basis for the territory. However, when they are known for their actions and use of force against unarmed civilians within the Tigray region. Very few to none will give them a bouquet of flowers and give the Republic more territory.

The WikiLeaks cable says this: “Legwaila, who has served as UNMEE SRSG for five years, detailed how both Ethiopia and Eritrea had initially committed to accept any decision by the EEBC, at December 2000 cease-fire talks in Algiers. Upon the announcement of the EEBC’s decision in April 2002, Ethiopia’s foreign minister hosted a celebration and issued a statement hailing the decision as a victory for both parties; however, Ethiopia had not realized that Badame had been awarded to Eritrea. The reason for this is the EEBC did not identify Badame so it took sometime for the experts to determine to whom Badame had been given. Legwaila observed that delimitation of the border (i.e., determining where it lies) was complete, whereas demarcation (i.e., placing physical markers) was stalemated. Delimitation of the border had been conducted professionally and impartially, Legwaila said, through an Asmara-based chief surveyor armed with GPS equipment and assistance from New Zealand experts, and with aerial mapping conducted by a Swedish company. Demarcation would reflect the boundaries determined by delimiation — there would be very little change, e.g. Badame would remain in Eritrea” (WikiLeaks – ‘UNITED NATIONS REQUESTS USG ASSISTANCE TO MONITOR AND RESOLVE ERITREA-ETHIOPIA CRISIS’ 28.10.2008).

Time will tell if Prime Minister Abiy will honour his peace agreement with Asmara. Which is what Shabait hopes it does. The Tripartite Alliance has been favourable for the PM and his reign. That has helped his causes and he couldn’t continue or hold on so long with warfare in Ethiopia. He needs the EDF and he knows that. Therefore, if the Tripartite Alliance is able to silence and annihilate the Tigray region. That’s what the alliance wants to achieve.

Alas, the Eritrean government is clearly saying by publishing this on Shabait. That they want it legitimized and recognized. This is the what it is initially saying. While we can wonder how Mekelle is thinking about this. Since, this is taking away territory it had occupied for a few decades now. While the current federal government of Ethiopia might offer it and do it, because Abiy has a good relations with Afewerki. Peace.

Ethiopia: Amhara National Regional State – Statement on the Joint Investigation Report of Amnesty International and the Human Rights Watch (11.04.2022)

Ethiopia: Abiy – How many parts of the Republic do you want to burn?

The Tigray region has been besieged for months, humanitarian assistance weaponized and a man made famine. While parts of Afar region is war-toned. The Western Tigray is burned, looted and a genocidal affair to get annexed by the Amhara region. While Northern Wollo has been destroyed and gotten war-torn as well.

In addition, the Republic has ensured to stifle, silence and got after dissidents with an iron fist in any region. The Ogaden or Somali Region there been no remorse and an absolute will to arrest, detain and keep political prisoners. The same can be said about regions too. There is really no where to find solace or peace.

The last few days… there is a new offensive to annihilate the Oromo Liberation Front/Army in Oromia. As there are several parts of Regional Special Forces, which are used to destroy the OLF/OLA. The most prominent is the usage of Somali RSF and they are the ones that is shown in pictures online.

While the blood is shed in Oromia. There is planned escalations and continuing the conflict in Tigray. As there are reports of troops moving into Afar and plans of invading it from there. That will be done with ENDF and Eritrean Defence Forces. Therefore, the Tripartite Alliance is still alive.

The Amhara Para-Military Group “Fano” is practically everywhere too. It has become a vital part of the army and the national ideals, the ethnocentric and Amhara nationalist unit. This is being not only deployed in Western Tigray and part of the campaigns there. It can be launched into other regions on behalf of the Amhara Regional State. That is how they do it to fight the battles of Amhara. This is why the prospects of a greater Amhara and Amhara centric views on the rise. Just like the Tigrayan and the Tigray People Liberation Front (TPLF) was the front of the EPRDF era.

The Prosperity Party which is the unified one-party made out the EPRDF without TPLF has become this. The PP has installed their puppets, their hand-picked leaders and representatives in an election. Which was the perfect selection and with no real opposition. Only the parties that could be seen as branches of the PP or who would work with the PP. That’s why the PP even let some of them become appointed to the cabinet too after the election.

Now, that you know this. It makes sense that the puppets of the regions are fighting the battles of Addis Ababa and Bahir Dar. They are fighting these crusades to get the pure regions. Certainly, just like the same folks has intended to bury and silence the Tigray for eternity. They are now ceasing an opportunity to let the Oromia burn. In such a manner, that gives further prospects of grandeur of the Amhara. The Somali regional President also got to show support and he can later get help to get rid of the ONLF, once and for all too. When the Federal Government is done with TPLF and OLF/OLA.

Everywhere Abiy touches, he burns and destroys. He doesn’t build or create peace. No, everywhere he is ensure death and bloodshed. There is only death and no possible way of peaceful future. It is only more destruction and devastation. It is no rest and everywhere there is dissidents, rebellion or possible revolts. The state will address it with blunt force and no remorse.

The Abiy regime will not bring hope of a better tomorrow. That is proven by the Tigray civil-war and how it has been done. The achievements of the state proves this and they will be remembered for the Medemer Terror. Just like the Derg was known for the Red Terror. Every village, town and zone is getting touched. It will be remembered, because somewhere and someone people know was scorned. The people was touched, hit and hit with plights of the terror of Abiy. That’s what his offering… while promising peace and prosperity. He promises reforms and grandeur, but comes with guns and ammunition. Abiy doesn’t come with dialogue or talks… no… everyone is to follow his orders and bow down to his greatness. If not… they are supposed to follow the directives and his leaders, which is puppets of his will. That’s why as long as this is happening. The destruction will continue and the plights will not be easier to carry.

It will be damages for generations to come. The costs will be enormous and the lack of trust in the Federal Government will linger on. The pains and the lost will be told about in tales. They will be martyrs of the Medemer Terror. That is the reality here. Just like ones that lost their lives for the Red Terror. The ones who fell now and fallen in the campaigns of the government will be remembered like this.

Just like people despised and felt betrayed by the Tigrayan minority and rule. The same fate will befall on the Amhara and the PP. That’s because the path it has chosen. Instead of building a better tomorrow. It has now ensured prolonged agony and hurt. The wars that Abiy wages doesn’t seem to have an end. Neither does the promise of swift endings either. That’s why he has so many names and protocols, but they never succeed. This is because the army and the government his running isn’t capable or have the will of the people to win it. These wars aren’t justified and this is why his slowly losing.

The blood is on his hands and he has nowhere to hide. The military fatigue and the proclamations will not do anything. It will only show his thirst for more and he will continue to he has annihilated anyone who could stand in his past of total supremacy. Peace.

Ethiopia: A new offensive is planned from the Afar region to attack the Tigray Region

“Over 300,000 northern #Afar living under trees, herded by the terrifying sound of artillery.” As of March 8, 43,000 Konnoba Afar fleeing into the last remaining “safe” land are under the threat of dying of thirst.” – Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA, 10.04.2022).

ACT NOW to prevent more bloodshed in Ethiopia. Eritrean general Humed Karkari, and Awel Araba have signed a military agreement on 4/7/2022. They are fully positioned to launch a new offensive against Tigray. In the meantime 6 milion Tigrayans continue to suffer under the humanitarian blockade and the threat of extermination and IDPs in Afar continue to suffer from lack of basic humanitarian support from the government. ACTNOW and save lives” (Afar Federalist Diaspora Coordination Committee, 10.04.2022).

General Semeon Gebredingil who manages Eritrea’s internal security, police, immigration and airport security is also now in Addis Ababa. Eritrea not only is making top military decisions in Afar but has infiltrated the federal government of Ethiopia. As long as Eritrea continues to operate in Ethiopia, war will be inevitable and peace impossible” (Afar Federalist Diaspora Coordination Committee, 10.04.2022).

All roads at this moment are going towards Asayita, as the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF) and Eritrean Defence Force (EDF) is planning a new joint effort to invade and conquer the whole Tigray region. The recent reports are stating so and there been troop movement to the Afar region and the border zones of the Amhara region.

Alas, the secrecy of the planned attack and offensive on Tigray has been out there for awhile. It is just that the voices of Afar region is saying it. The latest release of a few trucks into the Tigray region. Wasn’t really any real humanitarian truce, but instead it was a smokescreen.

Since they are planning a new offensive and has an agreement to do so. The allies are doing it yet again and will do so soon. The people of Afar and the organizations there know it. The ones following the movement of troops. See it, hear it and the war-drums are returning.

The Tigray Defence Force (TDF) have attacked the Afar Region for awhile, but that will also be a front for the Tigray, as they are defending their region. Therefore, it was a strategically move, which has hurt innocent Afar people and hundreds of thousands are internally displaced.

The Tigray region is starving, in a famine and it’s man made. The Afar organizations are even asking to save the millions of Tigrayan people. While they are meeting the blunt force of the TDF, as they are defending their region.

However, we should soon anticipate an announcement and the Prime Minister Abiy in military fatigue. Where he promised to “liberate” and “end the TPLF” once and for all. That is what is coming and with the knowledge of Afar. We should see this happening sooner or later. Because, the Federal Government have prepared together with Eritrea another offensive. Peace.

Ethiopia: A “Final Offensive” have been launched against OLA in Oromia

There are now reports that on the 9th April 2022 that the Federal Government have initiated a “Final Offensive” or a “Final Comprehensive War” against the Oromo Liberation Front/Army (OLF/OLA) in the Oromia Region.

The ones on the Federal side of spectrum is the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF), Oromia Regional Special Forces, Somali (Ogaden) Regional Special Forces, Sidama Regional Special Forces and Amhara Regional Special Forces. These are the ones that is coordinated and sent to go against the OLF/OLA in Oromia. There are two more forces that is also reported to be involved, these are the Somali Region Para-Military Police “Liyu” and Amhara Para-Military Force “Fano”. Therefore, the Federal Government have really pulled all strings to get enough troops to participate in this here offensive.

There reports of air-raids and also of civilian casualties, especially from the Somali (Ogaden) RSF involvement in the offensive within Oromia. However, the scale and such of atrocities is unknown at the moment. The reports are scattered and hard to come by.

The Federal Government initiative is fighting on several of fronts and the possibilities of civilian casualties is endless. As well, as the lack of concern of them from the Central Government. That’s why the OLF/OLA has risen to prominence in the Prosperity Party era.

The plan of the government is to eliminate the OLF/OLA from Wollega, Guji, Western and North Shoa. Also, it is not enough the Colonel or Prime Minister was wearing military fatigue as he promised the end of OLF/OLA in Oromia. This has been promised before and that was a 15 day campaign. He has doubled the response time, but it won’t make much difference.

The only thing that we can be rest assured with… is that the innocent civilians will be caught in the cross-fire, more devastation will happen and atrocities sponsored by the Federal Government. Because, that is what the PP has to offer. Especially, when it wages war against a region and their opponents there.

Nothing good will come out of this. Only more bloodshed… Peace.
