Today we got the news that Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali sacked Taye Dendea Aredo. That happened suddenly, because Dendea dared to question a policy or an action of the government. The appointed Minister of Peace is now out of office.
He wrote a piece on social media called “For the sake of the sacrificed children” and that must have been the reason. The Minister has also written other pieces lately which has been critical of state. That must have hurt the pride of the Prime Minister and alerted him of the insubordination. Because, he only wants blind loyalty and Dendea should have known this already.
I am not sorry for the man. He knew who he joined and accepted to be associated with him. As a Minister and a man of the party. Dendea stood tall on disgraceful policies, war-rhetoric and other measures, which wasn’t for the common good. Alas, it was all a game and Dendea thought he knew how to play it.
Today he sees the grim reality. Today he faces judgement and the fall. A man who bashed in glory and was a man of prestige. That was all built around the Prime Minister and his wars. Even as a Minister of Peace, he spoke of conflict and “unity” through the use of arms. Therefore, he should have seen this one coming.
The ironic part of his office and title. You wouldn’t believe he worked for peace. He would rather promote war and more conflict at times. I cannot believe that he cares or a concerned about the innocent civilians caught in the cross-fire. Neither pre-occupied with the prisoners of conscience.
I don’t feel pity for the man. He was a man of the PM and his reign. This man defended and was a supportive force behind him. Not just a random bloke or a civilian campaigning. No, he was a vocal one and who made pieces that was promoted by the government itself. While his foul rhetoric and the stench of blood. He didn’t mind at all.
This is why I wonder if he had a change of heart of someone close to him got into his ear. That’s why he suddenly renegade against the PM and the government. A government that he served in and was a part of. It is hard to believe it, but the PM has gotten rid of other who stood him near. Even the ones that ensured his rise to power. This PM can get rid of them all and won’t even flinch a tear.
Dendea was useful, but now his useless. He has lost his edge and is now expendable. That’s why someone else will fill his void. Sooner or later, the PM will totally forget about him or what he did for him. Because, he dared to question his motives or reasoning. That’s a sin in the Republic and Dendea was happy to even be a high ranking official. A Minister and at the prestigious, Ministry of Peace.
The Ministry of Peace, which is ironic in itself and how it was operated. There wasn’t much peace gained or even dialogue to be hold. The hardliners and the ones in the inner-circle wouldn’t had allowed that either. Not like the Minister was a beloved character or a sincere subject himself. That’s why I am not sad he was sacked.
He is just lucky the force of vengeance haven’t been put on him. Nevertheless, if the government strikes or harm him. I wouldn’t be surprised, because he knows to much and those are the ones you want to get rid of. He can hurt the PM in the long run and he don’t want that. Peace.
