Ethiopia: Tigray External Affairs Office – Statement on OCHA’s Puzzling Complicity in Injustice (30.04.2022)

Today the OCHA released yet another weekly report on the 29th April 2022. The prolonged agony and war in Tigray Region is far from over. The warfare that started in November 2020. The direct conflict and skirmishes in vast parts of Tigray is maybe not happening. While Western Tigray are occupied and continued to loot, destroy and kill.
What is striking by reading these reports for over a year. The same sort of texts are spread week-in-and-week-out. The Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (FDRE) and the leadership of Addis Ababa has called a “humanitarian truce” but only allowed around about 170 trucks in two months time. When the humanitarian organizations or United Nations organizations says a 100 trucks is needed daily. So, we know the needs are vast and things are not getting better. The airdrops and other things doesn’t do much either.
That’s why OCHA again is saying 9 million citizens in Northern Ethiopia need food assistance. While we know the North is burning and looted. The farmers and agricultural sector haven’t gotten seeds and whatnot for the season either. The amount the region has gotten is measly and not even close to the needs of the region. That’s why we know this is in an evil cycle of worsen condition and lack of proper support. This is deliberate and done with strings from the Federal Government.
We know that the Federal Government claims the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) are stopping the trucks, but there never been any proof of this. While there was proof that the Tripartite Alliance raiding humanitarian organizations warehouses and whatnot in close proximity to the Northern regions. Therefore, we know FDRE isn’t truthful in this and they move the goalpost for Tigray Defence Force (TDF). Just like it retreat from Afar region, but now it is told to hold a whole road open directly to Mekelle. Alas, the Ethiopian National Defence Force (ENDF), Fano and Eritrean Defence Force (EDF) wouldn’t accept similar conditions in their territory either. That’s why we know this is insincere.
What is striking and truthful… is that the Addis Ababa regime and their allies wants to starve the Tigray Region. They want the region to burn, be depleted and deleted from memory. The Tripartite Alliance wants to silence, stop and ensure the Tigrayan people cannot rise up again. That’s what the Prosperity Party wants and it’s proven by now. This is why… the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and President Isaias Afewerki are happy to see the troubles of Tigray.
The troubles of Tigray have furthered though to parts of Amhara and Afar regions. This being North Wollo Zone and some border zones of the Afar region. That is initially the case, because the state has issued the same sort of orders there. This being stop of utilities, banking services, electricity black-out and no running water. The stop of phone-lines and such too. Therefore, the whole system has put the Tigray on a total blackout from the rest of FDRE. It just shows what the state is willing to do…
Prime Minister Abiy must be proud of all the children that is not eating tonight. All the sick people who cannot go to the hospital or health centres, which cannot run as they should or have the equipment or medicines they need. Abiy must be proud to know that the elderly is dying in their homes and don’t have the energy to leave their homestead. That is the “medemer terror” and what is signifying his reign.
Abiy has done this for so long now. It is the only thing that makes sense. Not only did he tried to end the party that didn’t want to bow down and take the knee to him. The TPLF, but all the other enemies are now also being crossed with offensives like in Oromia right now. Therefore, the Prime Minister is willing to destroy and go after people with not only weapons, but targeting their livelihoods and takeaway their food.
Abiy haven’t only weaponized humanitarian assistance, but he has weaponized the right to live and be safe in their own homes. He has taken away all dignity and destroyed society. As he has targeted the Tigray region since November 2020. This is the epitome of evil and when they call other terrorists. The terror Abiy has served the communities, villages, towns and cities of Tigray is directly taking away the basics and holding them hostages in their own homes. That is the sort of act that Abiy has done and the world should never forget that.
Abiy maybe not fired a bullet or used genocidal means by systematic killing machines. However, he instead used the silent death of starvation, famine and destroying the society as people knew it. Peace.

“Afar capital of Northern zone Abala being liberated from 3 month occupation of TPLF terrorist group! Afar people’s force crushed terrorist TPLF group in every front after full scale operation initiated. The Afar flag has been hoisted in capital” (Asseb Press, 25.04.2022)
“A spokesperson of Tigray forces confirmed that the forces are fully withdrawing from the neighboring region of Afar in Ethiopia, saying that he hoped this meant desperately needed food aid could finally reach famine-hit Tigray, Reuters reported” (CTGN Africa, 25.04.2022).
The Tigray Defence Force in the latest offensive in the Afar Region lasted from January to April 2022. This is if the recent news are true. The Humanitarian Truce is a month old and with only about 150 trucks entering into the region. As the Tigray region is needing a 100 trucks daily to be able to cope.
The man-made famine and starvation is going on it’s second year and there only been small glimpses of hope. While that have never last or been sincere. That’s why if the TDF is retreating yet again.
The Tigray region is still entrenched. The whole Tigray region is far from liberated and neither is there any changes on the ground. The Federal Government has blocked most road, utilities, electricity and phone-lines. The hospitals is lacking supplies and the region is looted by invaders. They have destroyed factories and whatnot too. Therefore, Tigray Region is not only hurting agriculturally, but as a whole society and as a fabric of the Tripartite Alliance invasion of the region.
The Federal Government and their allies of Amhara and Eritrea didn’t’ come with good intentions, but came with ill mind. They came to burn, destroy, rape and kill. There wasn’t left anything left to chance and it’s obvious as the Federal Government only lets a drop in the ocean cross into Tigray. There is no real genuine will, while they are continuing to vilify the UN Organizations and Humanitarian organizations for not returning the trucks at the same time. As they have for months stopped all supply of fuel. I wish that was satire, but that is paraphrasing what the FDRE Government Communications Service press release of 23rd April 2022.
So, that the TDF retreats and returns home is good for the war-torn region of Afar. There are plenty of zones where there are thousands of displaced, destroyed and looted too. Where there warfare has caused horrific damage and countless lives have been taken. Hopefully, the humanitarian agencies can reach here now and help to normalize it there too.
However, the TDF wouldn’t go into Afar region, if the situation wasn’t dire in the Tigray region and their fear of a front-line within it’s own region. The Humanitarian Truce haven’t resulted in much. There isn’t any real goodwill and the it seemed to be called to create positive headlines, but not save actual lives. Alas, the TDF is doing what the Federal Government of them. Nevertheless, will the FDRE return the favour and hope they are just starving to death in their own homes? Because, it seems pointless, as the stalemate continues and the pledged brief “Law Enforcement Operation” of November 2020 haven’t resulted in the quick victory both Addis Ababa or Asmara wanted.
We can wonder how this one will play out. Now the FDRE, Eritrea and Amhara allies cannot use the reason of invading in Afar to block humanitarian aid. However, there will be excuses and they are vilified just for breathing at this current time. Therefore, there is little hope, but let see if it pays-off or is just ploy to create an option for a new offensive of the Tripartite Alliance to target Tigray at the heart, yet again. That would be a possibility when the offensive in Oromia is winding down. Peace.
