The skirmishes, the battles and the conflict that is now 9 days old. The ability to strike, or do so out of nowhere is now gone. The momentum and the possible quick coup d’etat is also over. That was done after the first two days. A successful coup is done within the first day and sealed on the second. If a man who has planned a coup doesn’t succeed within 48 hours. It is usually a dead one and a start of a civil war instead.
That’s what we are seeing now in Khartoum. This is what is happening across the Republic. It is now a game of a militia versus an army. The game of who of the Army Commanders who has the wisest troops, the tactics and the strategies to conquer the other one. Because, this isn’t about “democracy” or the “transition to civilian rule”.
No, this is a game of chess and who can be crowned King. One who wants to stay King and another who wants be proclaimed King. Al-Burhan and the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) is fighting for Status Quo. The General is fighting not only to keep his office, but also his powerful base. The reason why his the Chairman of the Sovereign Council and keep things a float.
While the Deputy Chairman and Leader of Rapid Support Forces Lt. Gen. Hemeti is in it for the taking. He thought he saw a moment of weakness and could strike. The janjaweed militant thought he could a trick and takeover. Hemeti was most likely informed and thought he had a go-sign to overcome the last obstacle of total power. Because, that’s what’s in store if he wins.
Hemeti and Al-Burhan are both part of the same evil. They are both part of the reason why the war exists in the first place. They are both token henchmen of a brutal dictatorship. These two has served and been respected men under former President Al-Bashir. They have earned political currency and also has a lot of blood on their hands. Therefore, neither of them are any good… and none of them should have given such prominence in the first place.
However, that is clearly too late. The Sovereign Council and the prolonged transition period has been established. The Military had ceased power and relentlessly seemed bothered by the civilian resistance too it. They seemed like it was a nuisance and a stressing factor that one day they would loose their influence. The Army Commanders had become the rulers and they could dictate the order of the state.
That’s why the likes of Hemeti wants more. He wants it all. His so close to the final destination. The militia leader has thrived in bloodshed, massacres and quelling rebellion in Darfur, South Kordofan and elsewhere. His armies was the ones behind the massacres of 2019. The RSF are a bloodthirsty para-military group, which has become to prominent for it’s own good. That’s why it could spark this conflict and try to cease power.
Al-Burhan is wrong in a lot of things. He isn’t the custodian or the righteous leader of the Republic. His there because of clever politicking and being there at the right moment. He should step down too and so should Hemeti. They should both retire and the war-games. Innocent civilians are dying. Innocent people are starving and lacking water. Hospitals are running out of medicines and the Republic is hurting. All because of two elephants wants to fight. The grass is being destroyed and there is nothing left to eat afterwards.
That’s what is happening in Sudan. There is no “victor” and the bullets can hit anyone. Therefore, nothing good is coming out of this. Sudan is bleeding. The proud people are hurt, in danger and in need. That’s all because of two gentlemen who cannot talk, but know how to fire arms. Peace.
