Kawooya admitted to Kampala Hospital after getting bond: Police Brutality as its worse!

On Thursday the 18^th October 2018, in the middle of the street and while people where watching in the street. Armed men was using their guns to hit individual there. His name was Yusuf Kawooya a Young Uganda Democrat (YUD) Member. This was a fierce arrest on Colville Street near King Church in the midst of Kampala. The video of the arrest went viral.

While he was taken for unknown reasons and was arrested with mere brutality, later found out the same people left him detained at the SIU Kireka. Which is sort of the new Nalufenya. The place where you sent when your really into trouble and has issues with the state. Even if Nalufenya is closed, the practices of that place lingers on. The torture and pains of people are evident.

The Police and the Security Organizations of the state was really at it, as the Chief of Military Intelligence (CMI) officers was behind the arrest and detained him. Where they went in on him, apparently. Since on the 24^th October, he was released on bond by help from MP Michael Kabaziguruka. So, that he gotten free, after they did all of this, because the Security Organizations alleged that Kawooya hit on Presidents car, when he visited Owino Market on the 6^th of October 2018.

This seems more like an attack on the YUD member, which was deliberate and made to show a signal, that he was a “Bad DP”. Like the President has talked about in the past. They sent the men to the streets, they hit with their guns and now after days in arrests. He is released and has to get specialized treatment at Kampala Hospital. That is what the state does to you.

Yusuf is yet another example, in a long list of political operatives who are badly hurt or in constant distress, because of their political affiliation or their message. Something, that has been actively done against the opposition. There are so many walking with Cains and Wheelchairs because of their political stance. That it shows their battle against the dictatorship, as they are victims to his oppression and lack of tolerance.

What we have seen today, is that the victim and not even a prosecuted felon. Has been tortured by the state officers and on bond. Because they think or alleging crimes on him. There is no proof of it, therefore, this a political act to spread more fear. As they did it publicly and has shown no signs of truthful exercise any legal remedies or trying to tell the public what went down. This seems like a show of force and not of an arrest.

This is a bad sign and shows how impunity and lack rule of law. When the ISO, CMI, Special Force Command and other Security Organizations can do this to civilians and get away with it. That he is out on bond is good, but still. With this sort of state, they will pursuit him and prolong the case for years if needed.

Yusuf will be picked up again. Maybe not early, but later. This is not over. Another proof of the violent tyranny of Museveni. Peace.

Today, armed men tortured a civilian in the midst of Kampala!

Today’s leaked video from Kampala, is the second time in a short time where either Security Forces or trained military men are using weapons to torture people. Last time it was CMI (Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence) Officers or ISO (Internal Security Organization) who was beating up soldiers in Bugiza on the 12^th October 2018.

Now, today, there is another one video leaked, as the plain clothed men in broad daylight was hitting on a civilian with their weapons in the ribs. before they abducted him into the car. Clearly there is something sinister going as these men was allowed to do so. Just like the men in Bugiza who was Security Officials beating the suspects up in cars.

The report from the street is this:

“During a broad daylight in Kampala city, Uganda near Theatre Labonita. First tortured and later driven away in a PSV vehicle registration No. UAF 325 S to unknown destination” (Aaron Ainomugisha, 18.10.2018).

There was plenty of witnesses of this crime done in the midst of Kampala. We don’t know which organization they comes from and why they picked this man up. This is mere violence, an expression of the lack of procedure or rights for the people. As the Security Officials can beat on you for no reason and take you to an unknown destination. When they can hit you like these gentlemen did with their weapons. Who knows what they will do to him in the car.

This sort of leaked video of the horrific scenes shows the blatant impunity that is happening in the Republic. That they were allowed to do this and it is terrifying that this is happening. This is a sign of free rampant display of possible state sanctioned violence. That not even the ending of the power of Boda Boda 2010 could stop. There are clearly more groups who are allowed and you can wonder where these people reside. As they we’re allowed to do this in the midst of Kampala.

That the security and the lack of respect of people’s value are evident. As this was mafia style of sanctioned violence, as they were beating on him and shown the people who was ruling. Before riding away in the Toyota Hiace type of car. Looking like any random taxi in the Old Taxi Park.

Therefore, this shows that the army, the police and the government are letting violence get out of hand. This is the second time within a week these sort of videos has leaked of security personnel violently attacking people in public. Who knows what happens behind closed doors. We known some of safe-houses and Nalufenya, but who knows what is hidden behind the surface.

What else sinister is going on to the enemies of the state and the ones who are in the way of the elite and the ruling regime. Peace.

Bobi Wine’s artist’s that were detained on raid on the Swearing-In of Museveni; Are now finally released for prison; Statement from Bobi Wine after the release!

Firebase Artists of Bobi Wine is now finally released after the silence of some kind of weird normaly returns. The NRM Regime fears so much the Opposition. That a musician that are positive to change and his fellow musicians are detained, and his studio is raided while he was conducting an interview. For those of you who forgot, here is the famous of the reporter who interview Bobi Wine that day. And after that today’s statement after the Release.

“Finally our artists have been released from jail since Thursday morning. We have done post-detention counselling and they are now already in a good mood heading to One Love Beach Busabala for the Carnival. We are musicians not politicians…We are citizens not criminals!

Bobi Wine’s Rehearsal Studio in Kamwokya raided by armed soldiers and Police officers during the Swearing-In going on at Kololo!

Here you see to what extent the Police Force and Army crack-down on the Opposition even in the midst of the lavish party on the other side of town. A reason alone why I don’t care. Because the Army and Police is harrassing the Opposition and even a Musician and his fellow Musicians. They are arrested and taken in without warrents or charges.

This here is level of impunity, the level of discontent between the rule of law and the justified attack on civil society that the Security Organizations are doing in Uganda right now. That Bobi Wine and his studio is raided is just madness. They we’re even watching what happen with at Kololo. So they we’re not up-to criminal activity, if so is it illegal to watch Museveni on TV now?

This here shows level of Police State, the army are allowed without any question or any law just to breach private space and arrest fellow citizens without charges. These artist been taken in as common criminals who was reharsing or watching the actions on Kololo. Is this the level of foolery the State of Uganda will be proud of? Is this the legacy of Musveni wants to leave behind? That the Police Force in honour of the Head of State even arrest fellow artist connected to Bobi Wine.

Here is his statement on the matter, I am just sad that they goes this far. The Police State now is high intimidation level that even musicians are an issue who needs to be silenced for National Security. Then the state have gone to far and needs a shake-up.

“Meanwhile, as the swearing in is going on, our rehearsal studio in Kamwokya was invaded by armed soldiers and police as young Firebase artists were rehearsing,and others were watching the swearing in on T.V. They were beaten and arrested (no charge yet). Even when I tried to explain that these youth were no harm to society and actually productive members of our community, nobody listened. They were bundled up to into a car, humiliated, and are now detained at Kira Road Police station. The arrested artists include: Red Aya, Dex, Wagi, and the CEO of Bigs promotion who had come to book these artists for a small gig. I was actually there doing an interview with New York Times when this happened. Many times I have worked with the Uganda police to calm down riots and to create peace and stability in the ghetto, as well as to build a good relationship between the police and the common people… To the Uganda Police: next time you call me to calm down riots in the ghetto, please remember how you have treated our people… I MEAN, WHAT KIND OF RELATIONSHIP IS THIS?

This might be the reason for the delayed return of VP Dr. Riek Machar, as there reports of how the tension was created in Juba before President Kiir let him back into the Capital of South Sudan.

There here is certain report that was in sent in between the Kenyan Embassy in the South Sudan and their Ministry of Foreign Affairs. As the stories and taking time to get Dr. Riek Machar the leader of SPLM in Opposition instated again as Vice President of South Sudan. That took time and was speculation already, and the commentary was at the size of the guns and the amount of men that the SPLM-IO was allowed to enter the Capital. This here reports shed some lights into the tension of the capital before he returned and to what state of affairs.

That the Government we’re prepared and even decided to put up a military barrack besides an UN POC site proves the levels of tension in the country as the steps of movement before the returning of planned TGoNU or the Government of National Unity.

The Formation of the TGoNU:

The Formation of the Transitional Government of National Unity will nominate 16 ministers, 10 SPLM-IO, two former detainees becoming ministers and also two minsters from other political parties. The Transitional National Legislative Assembly (TNLA) will have President Kiir decree that nominated 50 SPLM/A-IO to the TNLA, with this will expand the ARCSS to 400 MPs with the SPLM-IO getting 50 seats, and one seat of a former detainee and also 17 seats nominated from other Political Parties.

The Ceasefire Transitional Security Arrangement and Monitoring Mechanism (CTSAMM):

Have set up a centre in Juba as a Joint Operation Centre there with the South Sudanese National Police Service; but the level forces and demilitarization have slowed down the progress as the lack of resources to function.

 

This is reports from Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Kenya 15^th April:

That the SPLM-IO had been travelling in civilian clothes into Juba and under UN protection sites located in Juba. SPLM-IO is believed to have 40,000 civilians/soldiers hiding at the UN POC sites with their weapons. These have prompted the Government to have a Military Base 300 meters away. They have also deployed artillery pieces and helicopter gunships around the Jebel Hill. This intended to be close to where the SPLM-IO is located.

As well as the Tiger Battalion from the Western Barh El Ghazal State transported in to Juba on the 10^th April, which was 10,000 strong. This is something that SPLA have confirmed.

With tense situations before the re-entering of Riek Machar the Juba capital was reported that the Government army was walking in civilian around the town; either as change of the uniforms of the armed men; this in the style of Prison officers, Police Officers and Wildlife Officers. But they are all heavy armed.

These reports together with Public remark of SPLA Chief of General Gen. Paul Mahong, that he would never allow Dr. Riek Machar to become President of South Sudan and that if he provokes them again he would kill him. That was reported to worsen the tense situation in the capital in other parts of the country.

Afterthought:

As much as we can see the militarized politics is clear and the levels of tension create between the friction of President Kiir and VP Machar. These have to play with care especially if they are playing each other. This because South Sudan needs peace and need stability as the inflation is over 200% right now; the government need to be structured and save haven for rule of law. That is since the civil war between the leaders needs to rest and build the new country. Just as the country become a new member of the East African Community and have the ability to prosper if it gives itself peace and its citizen’s stability to build and regenerate the country. Peace.
