Opinion: Why was the Police blocking Besigye from the Requiem Mass At Rubaga Cathedral?

I am sometimes boggled by the disregard for justice that are in Uganda, that the Opposition leader Dr. Kizza Besigye of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) that had been to Nakawa Court to prove that he had not fled the country, while his long-term pending treason charge case continues unto the heart of President Yoweri Museveni stops beating, that is my guess by now.

Still, Besigye could not be part of the Requiem Mass at Rubaga Cathedral, as the dignitaries and mourning family was gathered to remember the assassinated Assistant Inspector General of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi. This was a mass in celebration for the life that the AIGP did have before the fatal mourning this Friday.

Though as the state did attend the Police Officer and Guard in Amuria district:

Internal Affairs Minister, General Haji Abubaker Jeje Odongo has arrived at the burial of Corporal Kenneth Erau who will be laid to rest today in Orungo sub-county in Amuria district” (87.7 Baba FM, 20.03.2017).

IGP Kale Kayihura and the NRM regime must be insane to stop him, but let all the others attend the mass. That just shows the, not pardon me, the tyranny and the standard of oppression the NRM are doing on the daily basis to the ones questioning the legitimacy of the NRM. That they cannot have the stomach and the ability to let him take part of state mourning of a fallen comrade in the Police. The man who has spent the most time in prison and been detained by all of the politicians combined in the republic. So, if somebody should be parts of the mass, it was him!

This regime doesn’t have the courage or the ability to give any way or show mercy on anyone, except for the ones loyal to the President. The rest are in the wind without any safe land to land on. I don’t know who gave this order if it was UPF Kayihura, CID, Special Force Command, Gen. Salim Selah or President Museveni himself. Still, it seem like a foolish betray of justice and rule of law to stop, yet again the opposition leader to be in church. They have detained him for going to church in All Saints after the election in 2016. This is in the same alley. So the UPF and the Security Organizations of Uganda has nowadays no quarrel to challenge the idea of what is justice and the injustice. Peace.

UCC: Letter to All Television Broadcaters – “Re: Broadcast of Grusome Images” (17.03.2017)

AIGP Kaweesi assassinated today as assailants flee the scene!

“Where justice is denied, where poverty is enforced, where ignorance prevails, and where any one class is made to feel that society is an organized conspiracy to oppress, rob and degrade them, neither persons nor property will be safe.”

Frederick Douglass

Today, the shocking report of the Assistant Inspector General of Police (AIGP) Andrew Felix Kaweesi assassinated near his home in Kulambiro in the suburbs of Kampala. Certainly, the sudden demise of one of the heads of Police show is that you can be touched, even as your grace and your stature does not save you. He was today together with his bodyguards, other fellow police officers assassinated, some say by snipers and others by assailants.

Others who lost their lives in these vile sorts of reckless violence was the driver Godfrey Mambewa and the bodyguard Corporal Kenneth Erau. Therefore, there are families today who has lost their breadwinners and their fathers. Certainly, no one saw this one coming. Eyewitness says their riding along on boda boda’s trailing the car as they fled the scene on the same manner they arrived. This was all happing at 09:00 Am at the home area of AIGP Kaweesi.

“Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Emilian Kayima has confirmed the tragedy. Eye Witnesses say the killers were traveling on a motorcycle. The shooting reportedly lasted 20 minutes” (Verified Source).

As the mourning and the condolences are sent the State House responded briefly to the press as well:

“I condemn in the strongest terms the killing of Assistant Inspector of Police Andrew Felix Kaweesi, his driver Godfrey Mambewa and bodyguard Kenneth Erau by thugs riding on motorcycles. As a consequence of these repeated murders in the city and other towns, I have directed the immediate installation of cameras in all major towns of Uganda and along the highways. We have been planning to do this project for some time but we have been postponing it on account of other priorities like roads and electricity. Since, however, these thugs think they can use this remaining gap in our otherwise robust security frame work, I have decided and directed the Minister of Finance to work with Police to immediately close this gap. Security personnel and all citizens should be vigilant and on the lookout for these thugs who have made it a habit to use motorcycles to kill people” (State House, 17.03.2017).

So the death of a top official now makes the changes, as the reckless killings has occurred in recent times, but not made the state or the State House change their tune. That they prove the value of works, as they had other priorities, proves that instead of investigations and such. They are planning to have more surveillance, less police work as the Police Officer, and AIGP Kaweesi lost his life. That is the message the State House and President Museveni sends out.

The Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda have spread this message after the fatal death:

“Prime Minister Dr David Livingstone Ruhakana Rugunda has asked Ugandans to refrain from spreading unfounded speculations about the murder of Police spokesperson Andrew Felix Kaweesi. Rugunda urged while speaking to press a few hours after the gruesome murder of the police mouthpiece outside his home; that police should be allowed to conduct its work, to find the assailants. He also cautioned against reading deep into the murder and fronting claims that the country’s security as a whole has been compromised” (Rocket Media Africa, 17.03.2017).

What is sure is that something not told some one behind a killing like this. This was a well sort out affair to scare or to send a message, as the key man in the media from the Uganda Police Force all of a sudden gunned down on the way to a public meeting or lecture at Uganda Christian University (UCU). Therefore, I doubt these was just gangster going wild and creating mayhem in the streets of Kampala. There are certainly someone in the Central Government; someone in the army or other places, who has intelligence and briefings on the killings, before the Police suddenly showed-up to start their on-going investigation! A man of this stature and rank do not just pass away in silence. Especially not when guns, boda-boda’s and the knowledge of his house.

This is here is real life assassination, not for play, somebody order and someone served it to the contract. They would not just go around killing without some sort of retribution and security that they got their fees for the killings. The death of a man like AIGP Kaweesi, is a political and a security issue, that show that there are vile attempt of control and also there is imposed security officials an such who might to overturn the institutions. Since the Police officers this high, should not be able to be touched! Still, the AIGP went down today. Now unknown men blasted Kaweesi into oblivion, but someone know these men and hired them. They are not ghost appearing and then disappearing. Peace.

Opinion: Hon. Kyambadde revealed what was important at the State House!

“I resigned from State House Uganda, because there were so many powerful people and power centers, and for example the sons and sons-in-law of first family would bring in some foreign businessmen and despite being my duty to clear them, i could not say anything.”Amalie Kyambadde (On Face Off on NBS TV Uganda, 12.03.2017).

Hon. Kyambadde who is now her second term as Member of Parliament for Mawokota North County in Mpigi District after she left or resigned her position Private Presidential Secretary at the State House, she had the PPS position from 2001 to 2010. Therefore, you see that she went to be elected as MP, instead of working in the State House.

This is very interesting as she knows the perks and working ethics of State House, as she spent nearly a decade in the State House and worked closely with the President. So the knowledge of how it works, she knows perfectly well. As the speculated issues inside the State House came out to the public in 2015:

“The wars in State House, an insider told us, “were always there but they came out in the open when Amelia (Kyambadde, the Trade minister), left State House.” (…) “The source said Ms Kyambadde exerted considerable authority over the presidential palace, hardly allowing internal wrangles to burst open into the public domain” (Mukiibi Sserungjogi & Okuda, 2015).

So there have been revealed things before, but today what she said on NBS have been sort of common knowledge, as the pictures of Hamis Kiggundu, Ruparelia Sundir and others who certainly has conducted their business transactions from the State House with deals between them. The development and acceptance of big-business happens directly inside the state. As well as the decrees and licence to do business, so the words of Hon. Kyambadde extend this idea and verifies what has been commonly known, but not yet said by former internal workers at this capacity.

That she also shows the turn-over of family business inside the State House, their own ideas bringing their connections to the State House, shows the allegiance of state is within the family and not with the procedures of the state. That can be said by the negotiations that even happened a few years ago:

“Byabagambi, who attended the meeting at State House, as did officials from CHEC and the Ugandan attorney general, has accused the MPs of receiving bribes from CCECC to frustrate the project; two of the MPs held a press conference on Monday to deny the accusations and to accuse the government of overpaying CHEC” (Rogers, 2014). So the Chinese investors and entrepreneurs had direct meetings at the State House, so the Attorney General and the MP who oversaw the Standard Gauge Railway project at the time. So the ties all connect to the State House.

In 2011 the State House had made another deal as report back in 2013:

“The Auditor General’s report for the year ending June 2012 notes that there was unfair treatment of bidders ahead of the Presidential swearing in Ceremony in May 2011 where one bidder was dropped for no particular reason” (…) “This was despite the fact that other bidders such as Country Safaris were considered to have the same problem as Africa One Tours and Travel because they could not meet the specifications of the required manufacturers” (…) “In their response, State House officials stated that they had been given a short period within which to prepare for the swearing-in ceremony yet they did not have a set date and there was no money for the function” (Athumani, 2013). So back in 2011, it wasn’t the ministries task to hire and secure the cars for the President, but State House officials. This shows the controlling aspects of the State House, not only the business being decided inside the State House.

This is just some proof of some of the business activity that happens at the State House, surely more than meet the eye and that has been reported about. Certainly, the Museveni family and kin has done more business there than we can ever know. However, there will only be indications until more is revealed or if the leaks from the State House, as it haven’t been controlled as much as it was under Hon. Kyambadde. Peace.

Opinion: A 93 year old, apparently doesn’t need succession!

robert-mugabe3-660x400

The President of Zimbabwe, President Robert Mugabe, the man who is in the psalms, who was written to stay as a leader and even be voted on after death, that is if Grace Mugabe, the first lady gets her wish. The Zanu-PF which was created by him as he mended to parties together when he got rid of a rival; so many forgets the past history of how ZANU became Zanu-PF. The Patriotic Front was sucked into the merger for the political ambition of President Mugabe, as he swallowed and got rid of Joshua Nkomo. Nkomo also lost his party as it became one party Zanu-PF.

Therefore listening to the President and leader of decades upon decades Mugabe had to say this on his 93rd birthday:

“PRESIDENT Mugabe has warned ambitious lieutenants in his party who are angling to succeed him to stop fanning divisions, saying he will not be pressured into appointing his successor” (…) “He slammed succession-driven factional divisions in Zanu-PF, called for unity in the ruling party, and reaffirmed his position that whoever would succeed him was going to be chosen by the people through an election” (Gono, Mukarati & Tshuma, 2017).

The man who will run and continue to be the kingpin, the grand master of Zimbabwe, President Mugabe will not leave the republic and the reign before his last breath. The lasting regime and the will to stay is not only for his benefit, but for his closest allies and elite. The ones who drives flash cars in Harare, who owns the banks and export resources to abroad, also the ones who sells special-made cakes, lays chips and all sort of imported goods. That is who keeps breathing air into the Zanu-PF regime and Mugabe’s continues reign.

The ones who thinks this isn’t eating he system, isn’t costing the republics coffers, the possibility for good governance and accountability are not there with a man who rules and give the rules, without following any common-sense himself. A man has used any trick possible in the book and use all sort force to gain his will.

Are now imposing him and continuing his ill-will reign with the force of his army and sometimes like in the past mercenaries or paid forces from North Korea even. Because Mugabe doesn’t believe in democracy, but in his power to reign by all means!

Also, so his family can benefit and earns wealth on his reign. The Mugabe clan must surely have become rich from all of these years. If not why would he not step down and give way for somebody else? That is because he knows that all that is created around him and his family de facto disappears the day he leaves. However, the Mugabe name will tarnish history of a liberator turned Orwellian master. Nobody foresaw the transformation, but over time he has showed more and more traits of a scrupulous leader who use any means to stay and to forge the power around him. Therefore, the ones near him and the first lady are loyal fellows with no spine. If they had spine they would be beaten by the Police in protest, getting produced in courts or starving, even lacking civil service salaries. That is the means of lacking of governance and institutions as it all is and has been all Mugabe.

So there is no surprise, that the future casket President and the one ruling into death. So why be subtle about it. That is not the need of the Mugabe regime now. They are beating civilians, detaining civilian activists and silencing the opposition. Therefore, they feel invisible to anyone who thinks they can bring down President Mugabe. Peace.

Opinion: Does Dr. Abed Bwanika, Maj. Gen. Benon Biraaro or Elton John Mabirizi have a voice after the election?

UGDebate16 Prayer

I have just wondered and continue to wonder if these three brothers really have standing and place of political platform to gain momentum at all after the General Election of 2016. These both are veterans and people who have tried more times to be elected as the President of Uganda, without succeeding for that matter. Not because of their words or anything, because like for the rest of the candidates the Electoral Commission has been rigged for President Museveni, to be re-elected for another yet again!

Dr. Abed Bwanika, is a character and a man of words, a man who doesn’t fear to speak his mind and opinion. That is what it seems. The man of the People Development Party (PDP), an opposition politician who has been claimed by Tamale Mirundi of being a NRM diehard; so the man who has lost land in Lwengo are still in cahoots with the ruling regime if the AK-Mouth Mirundi is true to his words. Bwanika usually only appears like every blue moon, but after the recent election has been more visible, tried to talk of dialogue between FDC and NRM. Still, the evident wish of concluding that seems far-fetched. A person can wonder why he cares and what are his motives?

Than you have Maj. Gen. Benon Biraaro, the Farmers Party Presidential Candidate who was a man of reason within the general election and campaign. That even after the house arrest of Dr. Kizza Besigye tried to visit and talk about possible dialogue with the Movement or the NRM. Still, he has not been that visible after the election. So he is like a ghost inside some buildings and venues in Uganda.

Than you have the youthful and funny character Elton Joseph Mabirizi who ran as independent candidate in the recent election in the The Independent Coalition (TIC), who I remember even meet up with Dr. Kizza Besigye while he was house-arrested as well, they had a decent talks there. Seems like a decent fellow, has even had a few TV spots after the election. His businesses keep him occupied and busy, his private schools for instance. So it is not like he needs politics. Even as he addressed the public like this on the 15th February: “Museveni lied again about providing sanitary pads to school going children during the last elections which he rigged!” This he said after the Monitor article that the schools wouldn’t give away sanitary pads to female students as promised during the general election of 2016.

Uganda EC Wall

These three are just a few of them, which have gone away in the wind, that isn’t main stay or having a meaningful place on the political map of Uganda. These we’re three persons or individuals we followed and swallowed their words during the general campaign. They showed character and flair. But went away when their time for seeking office went away, certainly themselves wish they more say after the elections. Still, their place and their microphone dwindle away as if they we’re able to build an organization or supporters, which they could use on the next go-around. Maj. Gen. Benon Biraaro has been there before and still doesn’t have a big organization behind; the same can be said with Dr. Abed Bwanika. It’s a different matter for Elton Joseph Mabirizi who went in without anything, but still worked together with another independent candidate Maureen Kyala Waluube who was the The Independent Coalition (TIC). I haven’t mentioned her, because she has stirred lot’s of madness on social media after the general election and continues to stir the pot. Not that she has a dozens of supporters, but she has the Mwenda effect online.

So do you wonder what these people are trying to achieve after the election? Do you wonder if they really want to build political parties or are they needed figures so President Museveni can say the election are democratic since he has enough candidates that there is initial election, even if the result is already fixed. So he can show that he opens the doors for many to show up, but has an electoral commission that closes the door when the ballot is cast.

These individual’s that was in the spotlight is dimming and is less there, their suction and their quotes isn’t there. Their focus is back to life or whatever they did before the election. So you are now a year since the ballot was cast the people who run for the ballots is not really there and you wonder if these will pop-up again when the Movement needs again. Because the Movement, they needs a road-show and candidates to spring up from the elephant grass. Certainly, it can seem so and wouldn’t be wrong to understand it so.

If you understand it differently than please say so, still the voices of these three has lingered and lost their value as they are not steady in the spotlight. They do not have a civil servant position, they are not MPs, and they are not RDCs or any other important level of public elected officials. Therefore, the three doesn’t have a giant say, neither do these ones take part of Capital Gang or NBS Frontline, therefore the voice is not in the midst of the national debate. They do not engage in the newspapers or in public in general. So there are many more reasons than just being out of office, because Norbert Mao isn’t an MP, but a leader of a party and steady on NBS Frontline, that is why his voice still matters because of the steady exposure.

So, will these men change or will they stay in the outskirts and suddenly embrace it when the elections return and the spotlight are on those that engage in that? Because that is when President Museveni needs gullible people and people he knows doesn’t have enough support to really challenge him. Peace.
