Ethiopia: Tigray Region – Press Statement from Tigray Nationalist Political Parties (08.09.2023)

“The repressive regime has been illegally arresting and repressing senior leaders and members of the three political parties since yesterday. The repressive regime has been claiming that it does not have security forces and in practice pretending that there is no security threat. However, today it turned out to be the opposite. The city of Mekelle, where the man was raped during the day and the welfare of the people was threatened, has been forced to disperse the peaceful demonstration by deploying excessive security forces” (Tigray National Political Parties, 07.09.2023).
It has been a hot minute since the Tigray National Political Parties announced the planned demonstrations this week. They were planned for today on the 7th September and 8th September in Mekelle. As the parties had the slogans and the political message to spread to the grander public of the Tigray region.
The parties that was planning and organizing the demonstrations where the Salsay Weyane Tigray (SaWeT), National Congress of Great Tigray (Baytona) and Tigray Independence Party (TIP). These parties have been in stark contrast to the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF). They have been vocal and a breath of fresh air during the grander conflict of Northern Ethiopia. These parties has dared to not only question the Federal Government and their allies, but also being a voice dissent against the Regional Government. Meaning they have dissented from the ideals and the methods of the TPLF.
With that in mind… as the scheduled demonstrations was to be held. The democratic principals of the TPLF and the Interim Regional Administration (TPLF) has been tested. It is proven to be false and be a fraud. As there is no difference between them and the Prosperity Party in Addis Ababa. The only difference is their banner and regional powerhouse. The rest is just mere words and empty promises.
The parties further says: “The National Parties came out with popular demands, but the TPLF spread a lot of slander and the propaganda about the peaceful demonstration. They claimed it was violent. This is an accusation and intimidation to stay in power. On the other hand, it was openly shown that the repressive regime itself was the main violator and the source of all the weaknesses of Tigray. The violation of human and democratic rights committed today has made our people clearly understand that they are living in slavery and prepare them for further struggle. In this regard, we will intensify our struggle until the demands of the people are answered. We are confident that our people will stand by us with greater determination and clarity” (Tigray National Political Parties, 07.09.2023).
The Tigray National Political Parties, which dubbed itself the Alliance for Radical Change before this demonstrations. The pressure that these parties put on the TPLF. The TPLF couldn’t handle or have the ability to process. That’s why they are acting like the Federal Government and using an iron fist on the ones questioning their legitimacy as a governing entity.
Even this statement came in solidarity of the parties protesting: “Tigray Action Committee expresses our solidarity with the people of Tigray & Tigrayans worldwide, as we advocate for a peaceful Tigray where all can freely exercise their rights. We strongly call for an end to manifestations of violence, including violent response to protests. Together, we strive for a harmonious and inclusive society where peace prevails. Our power is in our unity” (Tigray Action Committee, 07.09.2023).
That is just a sign of how the TPLF has drifted away from its principals and only busy with ensuring itself power. They are used to be rulers and doing so with a swift force. The iron fist of the TPLF isn’t endearing, but endangering. That is clear for anyone to see. The TPLF acting like marionette for the Federal Government isn’t a good look either. Especially, when the region is still suffering and now they feel tormented not from the outside, but from within. That should be a sign to the IRA (TPLF) that they have to change and fast. Peace.

“We have repeatedly asked the government to stop the war in Amhara region and solve the problems only through discussion. We have also stated that our innocent citizens will be victims of the war that is led by illiteracy and competition is a country destroyer. Even if there is no listener, we will continue to strengthen our work as a part of the responsibility of letting the Ethiopian people know the truth and the international community understand the truth” (ENAT; 05.09.2023).
Yet again, the ENAT Party releases a Press Release, this time called: “The killing that is being carried out on our innocent citizens should stop immediately!”. The title of it is telling. It is sign of what is happening in Ehtiopia. ENAT Party is one of the vocal opposition parties and it has done so in a collective of others parties too. This time its all alone, but the message is loud and clear.
Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali should listen to the voice of reason. Though after all these years. We know that is futile. He isn’t a man of peace, but a man of war. A proper warlord and a proud one of that. His getting more energy and hope for the future, the more death and consolidating power he gets. He just needs to get rid of one more self-created enemy before going to bed. That’s what the PM does and how he schemes. It is a game and the Amhara Region is his latest victim.
ENAT Party continues:
“As we have repeatedly tried to express that our country’s complex political problems will not be solved by war but by calm and civilized discussion and dialogue. Enat Party, together with four cooperative parties, as it has been stated repeatedly in press release and in different medias, before the country goes out of control and enters into a total crisis, we have come back to our minds and are free from arrogance and self-esteem. We ask the government again to open the door for an urgent national rescue dialogue and save our country from the worst danger” (ENAT, 05.09.2023).
Nothing that is said by the ENAT Party is shocking at this point. The endangering situation in Amhara is striking. It is self-caused and an internally battle for supremacy. Where former allies has become bitter enemies of the state. Former Weapon-Brothers are now fighting each other and it’s all done so one man can be King. That’s the Medemer Terror and it’s now appearing it’s vicious beast in Amhara. Just like it has done in other regions in past.
ENAT Party is asking for talks, dialogue and negotiations between the stakeholders. However, the Amhara Popular Front/FANO knows they will be destroyed and lose everything by doing so. They have seen how the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) haven’t earned political currency by accepting a Cessation of Hostilities Agreement in Pretoria, South Africa. Instead they are still hurting and nothing positive is really happening in Tigray. The issues remains and the stalling of progress is so evident. As the people are starving and lack of support is deliberate still.
That’s why the Prosperity Party and the PM is the only winner of this. They still get to control and have the final say. While the dissidents and possible rebels still will have to pay even after the signed agreement. The PP and PM just uses it for positive PR and possible photo-ops. That’s what they do, but implementation is another matter.
The Amhara must have seen this and ENAT Party shouldn’t be fools either. Yes peace is the best. Nevertheless, a fake peace is only causing a more terrible war later. As the grievances aren’t met and people are kept in the dark. Even when the lights are supposed to be on or fixed for their enlightenment. Alas, that’s the scenario and the losers are in Amhara. Neither they will accept it or not. It is a loose-lose situation… it just depends on how much the Amhara is willing to loose. That’s the end-game here and the legitimacy are in the hands of Abiy. He can govern the way he pleases and his yes-men will ensure just that.
The rebels of Amhara can stand up to him and wish him gone. However, that will be a hard bargain, unless he does something very stupid. That is not known yet, but he will only go to the field or be there shortly to show “victory” and resilience against his enemies. That’s when he joins the battle and acts like the biggest G.I. Joe.
Seriously, it is tragic that ENAT Party has to state these thing. That just shows what is going down in Amhara region. It is a warning and the Prosperity Party should listen to the pleas of ENAT. Regardless of that, I know it won’t happen. The PM is to arrogant and entitled to humiliate himself to that level. He rather bury the men who stands in his way and do so with a grin while planting a tree. That’s what Abiy does and don’t mind if their bodies are buried by the trees either. It is just meant to be that way. Peace.

Yesterday, Eskinder Nega suddenly released an audio-clip, which was leaked from Washington D.C., United States of America. We don’t know when it was taped or at what exact date it was recorded. However, it was published yesterday. The former politician and firebrand activist, Eskinder Nega who has become a militia leader of the Amhara Popular Front. The APF which consist of Fano and former Amhara Regional Special Forces. Both outfits that was either to be disbanded or become a part of Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF).
These are now former brothers in arms, which are now bitter enemies. The warfare is continuing in the Amhara Region. Yesterday’s audio clip is set out to galvanize and inspire the troops. This is an initial war-cry. A plea and the a message of hope to the ones fighting in the trenches. That’s what Nega is doing. What is striking is that Nega wanted to annihilate Tigray, but now attacks the same methods used against Amhara. It just shows the hypocrisy of leaders like him. Both are wrong, but he shows the Amhara chauvinism, which is so prevalent within Amhara officials. They knew what they were doing in Tigray and what sort of war they participated in. Now that the same army is attacking them and theirs. The voice of reason changes. It is a bitter truth, but the Amhara ushered in together with ENDF the Medemer Terror in Tigray. Now the Medemer Terror is entering Amhara and it’s as horrific as it was elsewhere.
This is the transcript of his message from yesterday…
“Greetings, esteemed people of Ethiopia, and esteemed people of Amhara who always defend Ethiopia to death. This era’s story of David & Goliath is undergoing between the Amhara and ENDF. We have ENDF that is armed to the teeth with all kinds of modern weapons and the Amhara who are armed with the will to live with dignity. With this picture, the only reason the ENDF was not able to swiftly gain victory and made the Amhara kneel is because the Divine Intervention by almighty God. Because of that, I want to give thanks to God Almighty on behalf of the Amhara who have just cause of demanding the right to live, and their supporters everywhere. The last 30 days have proven it is impossible to suppress the Amhara people’s questions through force. There are some declarations from the international community that took this very fact into consideration. The Amhara Popular Front is following this development attentively. All the Amhara wishes for Ethiopia is lasting peace, never to be devastated by war. While the Amhara’s desire is lasting peace, the people is forced to defend itself from the unabated massacres based solely on its identity as a people. The fundamental question now is, the problem of genocide that is presenting great danger for the survival of the Amhara as a people should be addressed profoundly. Obviously this question cannot be addressed by the government sending military force in Amhara; not now, not in the future. Until the federal government realizes this and come to its senses, the Amhara will continue to defend himself with all he has. During this period, the Amhara people whose struggle is for its survival as a people in a free Ethiopia, asks the people of Ethiopia and international community to stand in solidarity. Thank you!” – Eskinder Nega (01.09.2023).
We know there is a harsh reality. Food prices are souring. Roads are closed and the conflict is spiralling out of hand. The ENDF acts like it has defeated the APF/Fano, but we know that isn’t true. The ENDF tries to get rid of enemy, but it has a hard time. That’s because of the will of defending their own. Just like the Tripartite Alliance struggled to take and get a grasp of the whole Tigray region from the Tigray Defence Force (TDF). The same is now happening in Amhara.
In Amhara the para-military and militia tactics is hard for a conventional army to conquer. They can move much easier and hide quickly. While the army is in the open and follows certain protocol for their warfare. Tactics the Fano knows and the APF has good knowledge of. Since they were allies and worked on one simple objective not to long ago.
I am in solidarity with the innocent lives. The ones scorn by this conflict. All the ones who are caught in cross-fire and citizens who are hurt. The Fano and APF I’m not that sympathetic of for one simple reason. They haven’t taken any accountability or acted in good faith in concern to Tigray. They only rebelled when they were losing power and becoming less important to Addis Ababa. When Prime Minister Abiy didn’t need them and they had to disarm. That’s when they turned their guns against the state. This is the gist of things.
The Amhara region shouldn’t be a war-zone. Neither should the Tigray region. Nevertheless, the Amhara elite and nationalist had no issues waging war in Tigray. Now they are feeling the same ills and injustice, as the Tigray did. They are feeling the same impunity and genocidal affairs, which they dismissed in the name of “unity”. The wars of the North is haunting themselves. They are creating ghosts and scores death. That’s what they do…
Eskinder Nega is within his right to call out and want justice. However, he would never have asked for the same for Tigray. We all know that. It’s very selective and such are dangerous. Just as Amhara deserves peace and righteous path to live. The same did Tigray and they are also still hurting, because of the conflict, which Amhara participated and part took in. Therefore, my sympathy only goes so far. Both are wrongs, but here in this conflict. They both have bloodstains on their hands and they should be held responsible for just that. Peace.

Today it has gotten to my attention that the Tigray National Political Forum (the Alliance for Radical Change) or the Opposition Parties in the Region of Tigray have planned to hold demonstrations on the 7th September 2023. These parties are Salsay Weyane Tigray (SaWeT), National Congress of Great Tigray (Baytona) and Tigray Independence Party (TIP). They have sent a joint letter protesting to the Interim Regional Administration, which has blocked the planned demonstration in Mekelle. By law the Opposition Parties should be allowed to do so.
The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) is clearly feeling the pinch and the mounting steps ahead. There is no easy road, if the TPLF have any road to begin with. The Tigray region is in a shaky peace with obstacles and outsiders still keeping territories. The TPLF is weaker and lacks the moral authority for what’s it currently doing. The Cessation of Hostilities has only brought a false peace and a lack of mechanisms to ensure a proper one. As the Amhara is still occupying lands and Eritrean Defence Forces is too. Therefore, the TPLF have lost by negotiating the peace and giving way to Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. He won and got his way. By weakening them to an extent that the TPLF had to fold.
That’s why it’s interesting to read the slogans of the Alliance for Radical Change. These says something about the brewing sentiments within the public of Tigray. It is a statement of how the CoHA and TPLF have failed the region. Yes, the brutal and genocidal war destroyed the region. The region never gotten free-flow of humanitarian assistance or help from the government. Which is why it’s hurting to this day. Alas, the Opposition Parties is just doing their duty and holding the IRA and TPLF checked.
Just read these poignant slogans that TIP released today ahead of the protests.
“The slogans of the Alliance for Radical Change peaceful demonstration:
1. The struggle for the return and security of the land of Adibo
2. Displaced and displaced Tigrayans should return to their homes
3. Avoid the territorial and popular unity of Tigrayans
4. Humanitarian aid to beneficiaries now
5. No one who steals humanitarian aid will escape accountability
6. Eliminate the administration that does not protect the security of Tigrayans
7. Salaries for employees and pensioners
8. Stop the killing of Tigrayans
9. Sexual violence against women in Tigray is violence against Tigray
10. Justice for all the crowns of Tigray
11. A popular and democratic government is established
12. Credible and acceptable political system now
13. It becomes a one-party system
14. Murderers and robbers are brought to justice
15. Let’s set out for radical change
16. The TPLF regime should be removed
17. Tigray Nationalism: Tigray Exodus
18. Let the voices of our fighters be heard
19. Adequate footing shall be provided for the wounded and disabled
20. The sacrifices of our heroes are honorably told
21. Mother Tigray , waiting for the news of her heroic sons
22. Stop the land grabbing. Let the invaders be brought to justice.
23. ITEM from person of vested interest to the public
24. Those who slow down the struggle against extinction, be held accountable!
25. Dictatorship is hated and democracy reigns
26. Freedom for the people of Tigray
27. Peace, security and safety of the people!
28. Income supply to the farmer now
29. Stop overriding the basic demands of the people for political reasons
30. International attention to our people who are suffering at the hands of the enemy
31. One Tigray! To all of us in Tigray!
32. It is the natural right of our people to govern themselves!
33. Secret prisons should be closed
34. The rights of those subject to the law shall be protected
35. Stop human trafficking
36. The peace and security of our people shall be respected
37. Smuggling is disgusting: smugglers to accountability
38. Bread for our people” (Tigray Independence Party – TIP, 01.09.2023)
I think these slogans says it all about what is happening in Tigray. The Alliance for Radical Change certainly needs people on its side and hopes for a big turnout. The Opposition Parties has to show resilience and swift actions to show the TPLF that they mean the real deal. This is a blow for the IRA and the TPLF. As they are now feeling the pinch from within and not only from the outside. The insiders are also starting to bicker and that should have consequences. The Opposition Parties are now piling on pressure on Reda. He needs to listen to this and acknowledge the failure of his administration. Reda needs to understand the grievances and the public outcry. People are suffering and the costs of the conflict is just rising.
There is little to show for the CoHA. Unless, it was titles and easily becoming legit party again. That the TPLF still have to get validated. However, we know they are now in talks and can negotiate further with the Prosperity Party. Therefore, if the Reda and IRA wants things to happen. They can push for it and possibly succeed. If that happens… then the demonstration was for something and not just false hope for the masses. Peace.

Right now… there is a never ending stories of atrocities committed on a regular basis. That is being done by the Ethiopian National Defence Forces (ENDF) and their enemies the Amhara Popular Front (APF).
The APF consist of “Fano” the regional paramilitary unit, which was also a key ally in the invasion and war against Tigray. As well, as other fellow military trained recruits from the Amhara. Some are said to be former Amhara Regional Special Force, which was forced to disband and become a direct part of the ENDF in a restructuring effort of the Federal Government. Alas, that has all backfired and the conflict is spiralling out of hand.
The Federal Government have appointed yet another Regional President like it matters. The fifth since Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali took office. While the war is persisting and the “guerrilla” or “militia” tactics of the APF/Fano is working. As they are gaining grounds and territories as the days go by. It just shows that the conventional warfare of ENDF isn’t winning the war. Neither is the drones or other sophisticated methods that the ENDF is currently doing. As the APF/Fano can use the uncertainty and the ambush means to conquer their enemy.
This is a war over consolidating power. That’s the end-game here and the ones who wins will get the price. As the loser will taste the bitter fruits of not only the loss, but also see the victor parade the skeletons in-front of his face. The APF/Fano is working on overtime to serve its objectives. They are undermining and showing the ENDF that they are a threat to reckon with. The ENDF should feel humiliated and hurt by all of this. They are fighting brothers in arms and over petty things, actually.
If Fano and the Regional Special Forces had accepted to be part of the ENDF. This war would have ended and been avoided. We know there is more to it. Nevertheless, that is a key component that we cannot forget. APF/Fano can fight for independence and for self-control. However, the FDRE and the Prosperity Party will never accept that. Just like it didn’t accept the independence and the lack of bond with the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF), which is what lead to the bloody war in Tigray Region.
Now the same conflict, the same pain and suffering is happening in Amhara region. The same Medemer Terror and it’s committed on a daily basis. New families are losing homes, schools are destroyed and people are either killed or arrested. There are so many innocent lives that are caught in between the fighting parties. This is happening on people’s plots, in proximity of neighbourhoods and in general affecting all walks of life.
The Amhara region is feeling the “unity” and “national awaking” in the way that only the Prime Minister Abiy can offer. He cannot offer sustainable peace or liberty of people. The warlord can only order more war. His a man who settles things with guns and hopes his enemies get silent. That’s what he does… and his proud of making people stop.
This war is just continuing. The war that is making the Amhara region burn. The flame of the conflict is turning it’s evil manoeuvres and hurting innocent bystanders. People are fleeing, hungry and dying. This is what is happening in 2023.
Brothers in Arms are now fighting each other. Just mere months ago these would have fought in the same battlefield and for the same cause. Now they are turning their guns against each other. That’s the brutal truth in this and population is paying the price of this conflict. They are seeing the bullets, the drones and the death.
The flame will only be alive as long as it is getting oxygen. The moment someone puts a lid on it or tries to blow it out. There will be no burning, be no heat and no concern. It would be amazing, but at this current time. The flames and the fire will just continue. The blue flame will be visible and we will know the damage. The hurt and the ones who died for their cause. That is bound to happen… the ENDF is only willing to annihilate the APF/Fano, as it is has promised to do in similar campaigns in Oromia and the Ogaden. Peace.

“If glass is contaminated and cannot be cleaned by washing, the only option is to break the glass” (Natnael Mekonnen, 23.08.2023).
We have heard similar stories from the Prosperity Party before and in regard to other regional states or ethnicities. This here sort of talk isn’t new under the reign of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali. At one point the PP official public record stated this: “to eliminate the fish we need to drain the sea” that was in correlation of the conflict and warfare in Oromia. Which meant the PP was ready to act in genocidal tendencies and wipe out an entire population. That’s the gist of things.
Now that the PP has another conflict and its spiralling out of control. We have seen this before and the rhetoric isn’t new. Just like the PP said these things about Oromia. There was similar statements and talk while the war in Tigray was going on. Therefore, the Prosperity Party is consistent in the talk of bloodshed, massacres and will to annihilate people.
In 2023 the Federal Republic should be better, but apparently the same means are used. The same tricks of the trade. The same evil is apparently in the open. Addis Ababa and the PP are not compromising. No, they have their offensives and their special missions, which inflicts more harm, plight and total destruction. They come with ammunition, guns, tanks and drones. The ENDF isn’t saving anything and leaving anything to chance. No, they are burning the place to the ground and to set yet another example.
The Amhara region is just entering their phase of Medemer Terror. They participated in the Medemer terror in the Tigray region. They cheered and was happy to be a part of it. The Amhara region enjoyed the spoils and the prominence. They thought they were unique and had a loyal ally in Abiy.
However, just like Abiy needed to make the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) into beggars and “yes-men”. He needs the extremists and the nationalists of Amhara to do the same. The PM needs to consolidate and takeover all power. He yearns for the control and the final say. As the PM don’t mind the consequences or the costs. The results and the end-game that matters to him. That the militias, the para-military and the ones who fought with him is bowing their knees to him. This is all his seeking and that they join his army on his conditions. That’s what the gist of the things are and they rebelled against him. Because, they didn’t want to be under the spell and be token solider of Abiy. No, the Amhara Regional Special Forces and Fano wanted more, they wanted a say and they thought they had the right for it. However, their alliance was short-sighted and only for personal gains of Abiy. As he got the TPLF to beg for mercy. Therefore, he could now swing the swords against the ones who fought with him.
With that in mind, Mekonnen says these words. As we know Abiy is a warlord and a man who thrives in conflict. He earns his political capital by killing, slaughtering and destroying regions. That’s how he shows force and get his will done. The citizens are paying the price. The ones on the front-lines are buried. The ones who dares to challenge him stops breathing too. There are so many victims and so many who has been scorned. This will be a generational curse and take decades to rebuild.
The violent years of Abiy will cause harm for the next generation and possibly the one after that too. As there are so many who has fought and so many who was injured. There was so many who died and the total costs of doing so will be paid by the next generation. That’s just how these things goes. The grandfathers fought so the their grandchildren can pay their debt.
Amhara is facing that now. The PP and the allies of Addis Ababa is ready to use the same rhetoric and talking points. They are talking of annihilating a region again. The Amhara people are now feeling and hearing the same they talked about Tigray or Oromia. That shows how fickle things are and how little value life has in Ethiopia. When leaders, the ones appointed or elected are speaking in this manner. This is endangering people and sending signals of genocidal affairs. That isn’t just worrying, but alarming. Which is tragic that this isn’t new, but just repeating itself.
The PP is a party of war and they are now brutally assaulting Amhara region just to prove a point. Peace.

Neither force nor a command post will bring a lasting solution; for peaceful solution the importance of a comprehensive dialogue among political forces cannot be overstated.
The current state of our nation, in terms of politics, economics, and society, indicates that we are experiencing a significant amount of chaos, stress, loss, and destruction not just sporadically but on a daily basis. As a result, the public is demanding the Government to live up to its promises and duties, saying ‹‹ Walk Your Talk››. In relation to this matter, during its evaluation of the contemporary state of our nation on the 18th of August 18, 2023, our caucus, cognizant of the fact that our country and its populace are in a phase where they require prompt measures for a viable resolution, has adopted a stance and put forth a solution.
At present, conflicts, instability and public demands for good governance in all regions of our country are accompanied by people’s dissatisfaction and despair; and it can be said that the relationship between the government and the people in all regions has gone beyond mere questioning to total lack of trust. In addition, the relationship, cooperation and trust between the federal government and regional governments, as well as among the regional governments themselves, have fallen into question.
Therefore, it is utterly imperative to take urgent and permanent action to reverse the current situation so that our country is not subjected to even more security crises, and our people to even worse pain and suffering.
Although the situation in all four directions and regions of our country is very serious, in the past mainly in Tigray, then in Oromia, and recently in the Amhara region, there have been clashes between the government defense forces and the armed forces; in previous conflicts and problems, and in connection with these conflicts, the government tried to bring a solution through forceful measures by issuing a state of emergency at different times, but it did not bring a lasting solution except to expand and worsen the political instability and tension, economic loss and destruction, loss of life and social crisis. Instead, in the first Tigray case, the pain and suffering ended as the conflict was resolved through reconciliation and negotiation. Although there is a fear that the problem will recur due to the delay in the implementation of the agreement or the failure to implement it according to the agreement, we have actually seen that the disaster, the massacre and the crisis were not stopped by force or the declaration of the state emergency, but by discussion, negotiation and agreement. Although the dialogue that started to resolve the security crisis in the Oromia region was not open and inclusive, and the fact that it was started and ended has darkened the hope of the people for a short time, it was an indicator of peoples trust in dialogue and negotiation.
Henceforth, we advocate for a departure from the conceit and implementation of political machinations and stratagems as markers of astuteness and erudition, which has become the reflexive response during the short-lived tenure of the prosperity party. Instead, we strongly advocate for prompt and meaningful dialogue aimed at fostering tranquility among all political factions, for an enduring and comprehensive resolution.
Therefore, we call on the ruling party to respond positively to this call to save the country so that the political thinking and experience of our country can improve and grow, and leave a positive mark on our political history building on the past learning experience;
We implore media institutions and all relevant stakeholders of the nation to refrain from portraying the present state of affairs as if it is a conflict among the people, as such a portrayal may impede the attainment of a durable political resolution and inadvertently extend the life of the existing system;
We call on religious leaders and elders to assume their rightful place among the populace and diligently carry out their social obligations.
Caucus of Opposition Parties.
August 21/2023, Addis Ababa.
