Sudan: Resistance Committee’s revive the ideals of the revolution

The Resistance Committees of Al-Jarif East announce the complete closure of Al-Jarif Bridge, east of Al-Jarif, on Thursday evening, and the start of the revolutionary escalation to topple the military and civilian alliance

The last Sudanese revolution lasted from 19th December 2018 to 11th April 2019. As the Transitional Military Council (TMC) took control of the Republic. Later with negotiations with the Forces for Freedom and Change Declaration (FCD) lasted into the fall when they we’re able to make a mixed Transitional Government in the establishment of the Sovereign Council. Which still gave a lot of power to the men that toppled Al-Bahir and was his henchmen. Therefore, these leaders and rulers are mostly military fashion and not caring about the will of the people. That is a counter to the ideals of the revolution.

Now it’s two years since the start of the Sudanese Revolution. The citizens are again reviving the ideals of the Revolution. As they are seeing a slow change and nearly none. That being no accountability for the deaths, murders, extra-judicial killings and neither better governance. The Sudanese government is more of the same and only one civilian Prime Minister Abdualla Hamadok. Still, his appointment haven’t given more hope for a transition.

The ones that was skeptical to the ideals and the inception of Sovereign Council clearly see that they we’re right. As the military and former big-men of the dictator got legitimized by doing this. The Transitional Military Council and it’s members have become “state” figures, even as they still rules with the same army command of the past. Therefore, the revolution never got its results.

The FCD and SPA traded their chips early last time and that’s maybe why the Resistance Committee’s is starting a new Sudan Uprising. These RCs are planning to start on the 19th December 2020. However, some Committees have started and preparing their protests on the streets. Burning tires and other means to show support of the failed revolution that got hijacked by the TMC.

The message sent out was this: “Resistance Committees across the country must take utmost security [precautions] and begin serious preparation for the December 19 Millioniya by intensifying advertisements in the streets, raising patriotism, awareness”.

So, be aware there will be more and message is being spread. The public and the RCs are preparing ahead. This might spark the same crowds and possible rebellion in a manner, which we saw in 2018 and 2019. Where the public showed their tiredness and took all means. Just to show the power of all the feet on the ground. The Sudanese people have shown their character before and beaten one dictator. The same people can easily get rid of a temporary one and his Sovereign Council. Peace.

Opinion: NRM queuing in the line of 1989

It was reported that in February 2019, that the National Resistance Movement – Central Executive Council (NRM -CEC) was proposing to have the NRM Primary Elections of 2020. Where all the members and the general public who would participate in these elections would go behind their lines. By that way decide whose the candidate in the up-coming election in 2021.

That was just a mere report from NRM CEC was reported in the New Vision this: “The Central Executive Committee (CEC) sitting in Entebbe on Thursday discussed the proposed amendments to the NRM Constitution and adopted lining up as a mode of voting during party elections” (New Vision, 24.01.2020). That’s a mere year later and they are really sticking to it.

This time they have made excuses for this lax elections too: “The party leaders extensively discussed the advantages that come along with this proposed amendment some of which include reduction in logistical and financial such as procurement of ballot papers, buckets, indelible ink, pens and basins among other electoral materials, provide a desirable party cohesion because it will be open and transparent and elimination of ghost polling stations” (New Vision, 24.01.2020).

Its like they are initially saying, we are so bad at holding these elections and we don’t trust the NRM Electoral Commission. Especially not that rascal Dr. Tanga Odoi. His a useless tool, but our useless tool. So, we have to abolish ordinary elections. The candidates has to put forward like school-kids in the yard and the ones with the most people behind them. Becomes not only captain, but the class-president. This is how it seems.

Just like in 1989, it was the personal merit, which counted in the National Resistance Council Elections. Now, the same will happen. On the grounds on Election Day. Where the polls will all be open. Where the members and the public in general participating will stand in line behind the person they see most fit or feels the pressure to vote for. This is not secret voting, but a public gathering of people and pressuring them.

The NRM CEC and Delegates Conference should maybe give it a three week notice for the elections. Let the President decide the majority of the Candidates and call it a rewind of the RC Election of 1989. They are queuing like the RC1 did back then. So, the NRM CEC and the President wants a Personality Contest.

What is special is that the liberator is going back to his old tricks to get his cronies behind the wheels. His using the same tools he did in the 1980s. Instead of developing, the NRM and its Secretariat is digressing. This isn’t developing the party, but time travelling back-in-time.

So, the NRM want the public to ‘Walk a fine line’. It’s 34 years in power, 31 years since the first election was held and now they want to repeat that. It is internally, but shows their lack of respect for their members and voters. When they want to continue the “art of peer-pressure”.

We are living in 2020, but the NRM CEC is still in 1989. Maybe, the NRM CEC should buy a Nintendo Gameboy or even watch Lethal Weapon again. So, they can reminisce about that long forgotten time. Instead of pushing old tricks on the public now. The Party of a ruling regime, which is getting closer to 4 decades. Should be able to run a proper election. Not do the same as it did in their inception.

That’s what’s you do when your lost and you got no where else to go. Peace.

NRM Primaries in 2020 will be like the Resistance Councils election in 1989!

All our politics must be development oriented” Yoweri Kagtua Museveni on 11th April 1989

We know that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) is a big organization and run by the President himself. He has never let his hand out of the cookie jar. Especially now, as the NRM Electoral Commission and the whole NRM are planning their Roadmap for General Elections of 2020/21. However, the President and his CEC has decided that they are copying the LC1 Elections for the Primaries.

Not t that its shocking, as the NRM Primaries of late, has been tragic and so rigged, that even NRM Party Offices gets burned by angry party members. Therefore, the NRM Primaries of the 2015, was even described by Gen. Kahinda Otafiire as a Circus at one point. Surely, because he lost his Primaries. There was so much shocking nonsense happening, that NRM CEC wants the NRM EC to have a easier job and secure the elections being held like kids does when picking their team captain or class-captain. Not for picking candidates as legislators or their representatives. It was done in the recent LC1 Elections in 2018,

What was done in 2018 was ordinary procedure in the 1980s and 1990s, as the people was lining behind the candidate they favoured. Therefore, the NRM is re-issuing the method that was done by the predecessors, instead of ensuring the secret ballot is respected. As they want the peer-pressure to reign in the Republic. So, they can secure the candidates, that the NRM CEC has selected, because no one wants to be foolish standing behind the wrong person.

Report from the NRM CEC:

From their deliberations this Saturday 16th February 2019, the members of the Central Executive Committee (CEC) have agreed to recommend to members and other organs the amendment of the Party Constitution to provide for lining-up as a mode for all internal elections. CEC has also set up a Sub committee to enhance resource mobilisation for the party and its expected to report back to CEC within a period not exceeding one month. The Committe will be chaired by the 1st National Vice Chairman of NRM Hajji Moses Kigongo with the National Treasurer Hon Rose Namayanja Nsereko as its Secretary. Other members on the committe are Hon. Sam Engola (Northern), Maj. Gen. Jim Muhwezi (Veterans), Hon. Mike Mukula (Eastern), Dr. Robert Rukari (Entreprenuers) and the Deputy National Treasurer Dr. Kenneth Omona” (Rogers Mulindwa – ‘NRM: CEC APPROVES LINING-UP FOR INTERNAL ELECTIONS’ 16.02.2019).

What the NRM are proposing are going back in history, not only doing it like the LC1 Elections in 2018. This is a practice the NRM did the first time in 1989 for the Resistance Councils back-then. Where they we’re lining up behind the candidate of choice. Therefore, the NRM are not moving forward, but moving backwards. They are using techniques and methods of old, instead of innovating or even trying to fulfil the possibility of a secret ballot.

Therefore, the NRM CEC is going for old trick in the NRM Primaries. They are entrusting themselves in old methods. Instead of trying to go digital or even configure the measures of the 2015 Primaries. They are doubting Dr. Tanga Odoi and the whole NRM EC. The NRM CEC is initially saying, the party is not able to run an election as professional or sincere as others. They have to use school-kid, UPE ways of picking the class captain. They are not able to create the environment to ensure the ballots, that is why they are going back to lining up behind their candidate of choice. This is in the end, a way of defeat. Where there isn’t steady progress, but more steady regress, because the NRM Primaries are becoming like the first Resistance Councils was elected in 1989.

That is why Museveni is securing his legacy, that he is showing the world. That instead of going into the future, he is going into his past. Instead of delivering and securing the future, he is just securing himself. The President is more keen on consolidating power and his cronies, than genuinely offering a democratic model. As he has even by this means, scrapped the secret ballot internally within the ruling party. That is how weak his ideas of democracy and his lack of concern of privacy of the voters. As it will be all in the open, instead of being a secret choice.

They will stand upright like school-kids voting for their candidate of choice. Instead of getting the ability to honour their candidate in secrecy. The choice they do will be public, where the possible fear, intimidation and even peer-pressure will be more prominent. As if the NRM selected candidate for the constituency will maybe gain more, than a upcoming candidate, which is not the favourable one. Peace.

Opinion: Why does every By-Election these days look like a War-Zone?

Let us be honest for a minute, the recent By-Elections under President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, have become more hostile and more militarized, where the big guns, the soldiers and the mambas are all over the place. That is happening today in Sheema Muncipality in Ibanda and in Bugiri Muncipality in Busoga sub-region. Both National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidates and opposition contest in both of them.

What is striking today is the efforts of the police and the army to intimidate in both places. In Sheema Muncipality and in Bugiri Muncipality, the Army and Soldiers are armed to their teeth. Like there is a war going on, and not a democratic exercise on who gets to represent the people in the newly created districts. No, no, it looks like a war story and someone is going to die!

Seriously, who brings the war machine to an election, if they are not fearing for losing it? Who isn’t bringing the police to arrest opposition activist on the day of the poll and not afraid of losing it?

If the NRM was so steady and had a message, had a mandate and trust in the community, would they need the UPDF and the Police Force to settle intimidation into their eyes. Seriously? I beg to ask!

You can say what you want about elections and about campaigning, but when the ruling regime and the orders from above, is to send a brigades of soldiers to the polls. You know something is wrong, you know that these elections are no good. That is just a common knowledge. Maybe not for Ofwono Opondo or Frank Tumwebaze, but for the rest of us it is.

This isn’t a sign of strength, but more of weakness, of a justification of harassing and intimidating the public. Just because you can and because you have the army. This isn’t there to secure democratic values or secure the public. Than, the soldiers would have bases there and await a sudden strike from an enemy. Not suddenly come out of their barracks and post up in the middle of towns and poll stations in the early mist of morning. No, that isn’t it.

Maybe, just maybe, the NRM thinks so, but than they are gallantly, stupid and I cannot blame them anymore. They are just the National Rwakitura Movement, where all citizens are his cows and he is just waiting to spoil their milk. That is just what is up.

Are the NRM so afraid of losing, that they have to order soldiers in the street to prove they exists and that they can hurt you, if you don’t obey every command made by Museveni? Is that it, is that the magic potion to get people on board. If so, than the President have forgotten Franz Fanon and his wisdom.

As the war-zones of Sheema and Bugiri have smiled to us today and God knows how the tallies will be. Let me end with the words of Fanon.

“The state, which by its strength and discretion ought to inspire confidence and disarm and lull everybody to sleep, on the contrary seeks to impose itself in spectacular fashion. It makes a display, it jostles people and bullies them, thus intimating to the citizen that he is in continual danger. The single party is the modern form of the dictatorship of the bourgeoisie, unmasked, unpainted, unscrupulous, and cynical” (Frantz Fanon – ‘The Wretched of the Earth, P: 164, 1961).

That is enough of the nonsense. Peace.

Opinion: If the Sheema Rally is how you feel Mzee, please reinstate the Resistance Councils and abolish Multi-Party Democracy!

That is why it is important to elect representatives who sit in the NRM caucus where decisions are made and who can lobby for projects for you”Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on the 20th July 2018.

I think the time is up for fooling everyone. I am tired of the old man and his wisdom. Yesterday, he proven again, that the Multi-Democracy of Uganda isn’t important to the President. The act of putting it into law in 2005. Was just to make the donors happy, because he really shows disregard for the people’s will to pick the candidates and not the ones he has prepared for them. He wants loyal tin-soldiers to follow his whims from the State House when he calls in the NRM Caucus, which means all elected majority of Parliament at his place. That is why he shields the opposition out and silence them.

Stop playing with politics. I have told you that in 1962, people though politics was a joke. The resultant was loss of lives; we suffered.” (…) “That woman [opposition Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) candidate Virginia Plan Mugyenyi] will not help you at all,” said Museveni. Also the NRM chairman, Museveni said Mugyenyi, like Mwijukye, would have no access to the party’s caucus meetings which discuss development projects. He reminded the voters that NRM had the numbers in parliament and it would be safe for them to vote for Tumwesigye if they wanted to see Sheema Municipality develop” (Samuel Kamugisha – ‘Museveni: Mwijukye Is A Useless MP; I Struck Buhweju Off Uganda’s Map’ 20.07.2018).

Let’s be clear, if you feels this way Mr. President, stop the charades, be the real self and reinstate the Resistance Councils of 1986-87. So that the Local Councils and Local Government can be all in-house and controlled from the State House and through the Office of the President. Just the way you want it.

While you at it, since the Members of Parliament from other parties have no value. Pleas, just Please, make the state a ONE-PARTY State. That will be real you and the sincere judgment of what you are Mr. President. Museveni, you are already showing disregard for Mwijukye and his time as an MP. Therefore, why do you even bother with elections and doesn’t just ask for having direct elections of MPs through the NRM Primaries and internally. There isn’t any reason to have Multi-Party in Parliament if they are not existing to you.

You are directly diminishing the districts and sub-counties that has voted in favor of the opposition. You are showing what sort of disgrace of a man you are. Mr. President if you represent that other than your own narrow mind, you would be there for all communities, no matter who represents them to in Parliament. However, that is not the case and is shown with your meager display in Sheema Municipality.

Be real, be honest Mr. President. You are not representing the whole country, just the NRM. If you want it all NRM, abolish Multi-Party Democracy and also reinstate the Resistance Councils of the 1980s. Than, you would be honest with yourself and your dictating ways, also the public would know the real you. Not the fake forgery of a man you really are.

President Museveni, we are tired of lies and deception. Just show the real you, as you are directing everyone of your tin-soldiers from the State House, through your decrees and decisions. Instead of having several other parties within the Parliament. Just let the people decide who they think is the best within NRM and not have others. If you are for this.

Upon capturing power, the NRM introduced the Movement political system, under which all Ugandans belonged. The Movement united Ugandans under one political system and partly cured the deep-seated sectarianism that has been sowed by the political parties. Political party activities were formally suspended in 1992” (Pascal Kwesiga – ‘NRM’s political achievements’ NEW VISION, Tuesday, January 26, 2016).

So, please Mr. President, just go back to the real you. Suspend political party activities and make sure all are under the umbrella of the NRM. If you have the feeling that opposition MPs are useless and their areas doesn’t exists anymore. Than, you might just abolish it and stop the faking it to the Republic. You might have done this to please foreign donors, but those you don’t care about anymore. We know this and they know it too.

Stop playing and show the real self. Your already President for Life. Show the reality and stop playing. It is getting real old. Peace.
