Ezra Chiloba wasn’t professing to knowledge of deep wisdom, there we’re no Socrates or Achilles, there we’re no PLO Lumumba dictionary, it was just a straight forward interview on Sidebar. Today, CEO of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Ezra Chiloba had his first interview since the bottled election on the 8th August 2017. That was nullified by Supreme Court on the 1st September 2017, as the next election is happening on the 17th October 2017. Clearly, he want’s to clean his hand, but this interview didn’t help the cause.
“Larry: Do you believe the election was free and fair?
Ezra Chiloba: From where we stand yes, the election was free and fair” (NTV Kenya, 13.09.2017).
“Larry: Did you conduct the election with the right law and under the constitution?
Ezra Chiloba: Of course” (NTV Kenya, 13.09.2017).
“Ezra Chiloba: The minor irregularities were not adequate to invalidate the election, but that is water under the bridge” (NTV Kenya, 13.09.2017).
So these are key quotes that proves the arrogance of the CEO of the IEBC. That he cannot understand how people feel after being tried with a ruse, a trick to usher in Kenyatta for a second term. This without doing the proper job or following the Electoral Codes, the law that the IEBC are supposed to abide to. If they had did it, the SCOK would have had no reason to nullify the election. But it did because of all the breaches.
These elections wasn’t free and fair, they we’re peaceful and was done good. The public could do their civic duty and walk home in peace. But their votes and ballots was not respected or counted properly, neither verified or announced within reason. That is why he should beg for forgiveness, as he has no issues to give Kenyatta a second term. If he has no issues with, doesn’t that prove his partiality and not independence from a party? Since if the elections, as the Election Observers Missions was proclaiming, than the election was righteous. Even if it weeks after was proven otherwise in courts. Now, even the CEO of the operation trying to justify the actions done. It smells like raw-fish laying on the market for days upon end. It smells like crap and bullshit, an it is!
Chiloba is trying to save face, but I have to say is bad at it. He is acting ignorant and arrogant. Like he owns the place, when he doesn’t. He is there to serve the Kenyan population, not serve Jubilee or any other client for that matter. He is supposed to be impartial, but if he believes the previous election was free and fair, he needs to proper schooling and education. Should resign and also get a lesson or two in proper procedure of verifying ballots. Since that is an art-form he cannot manage or have under his wings.
He could have asked forgiveness and said they would make amends and change their acts. Instead he went in with damage control and spin-control. Seriously, underestimating the knowledge of his crowd and the people. As NASA and other unleashed the problems as they could to the public, even if the mainstream media didn’t want to publish or verify it. Peace.
