National Unity Platform (NUP): Statement on Mr. Moses Nkonge Kibalama (17.09.2020)

National Unity Platform Northern Uganda Region Press Release (09.09.2020)

Opinion: There will be more like Basajja Mivule…

There are always some fire-starters, some rascals and some noise-makers. The ones that are just there to incite fear and spread nonsense. The likes of Veteran Journalist and Baba TV Presenter Basajja Mivule.

Who are now on the air and on television. All spreading utter rubbish about People Power, Bobi Wine and the National Unity Platform (NUP). Doing his best to discredit, create a storm and make a lot of fuzz over nothing.

The newest non-asset that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) have taken from the PPM/NUP. Just like Jennifer Full Figure and others before him. They are all acting like they are the visionary, the behind scenes fellows, but when it cooks down. They we’re not even important or had a say.

Basajja Mivule are acting a fool. Acting out a scheme, a pay for play act. Which is to make the People Power foolish and the followers stupid. Making them seem like a obvious obnoxious group nobody should be associated with. Alas, he was just there himself a minute ago.

He is not persuaded by money, cars and whatnot from the NRM. No, it is all on the basis of his good heart and his moral capacity. We are supposed to believe a man who discredits others. The moment he left the fold and now throws around claims like a drunk sailor.

Mivule isn’t that bright when he does so. It just makes him look ridiculous. Andrew Mwenda was dumb enough the other day, but the Baba TV Presenter has amped it up. His up so many levels, that he needs a unique upgrade to get there.

This man will not be last to this. The ones scorned, the ones in it for a meal-card. The ones who thought it was a winning bet. The ones who thought they would strike gold joining. They will cry havoc just like this man. That is why Mivule is not the last….

His just the one screaming loudest and from anywhere people giving him a microphone. If he thinking his fooling anyone. His not and secondly, his not that good at it. For someone working in media. He should know this communication and spreading intended message. However, his only spreading rubbish and looking like a lame duck.

Mivule, you should know better, but you don’t. That is why there is no way for you to turn now. You have put yourself in a corner. Accepted the coins and swallowed the bitter pill. That is why your are sending missiles after cats and dogs, thinking modern warfare is the key to salvation. While those salvos are blasting, you are not hitting anything. Except for losing your credit, your mind and your moral compass. Alas, you are a lose canon and you should be at ease.

Not storm into a fight, which you don’t know how will end. You have reaped some perks now. However, your integrity is also sold. So, now … you have to live with it. Peace.

Memo to Museveni: Its not a level playing-field in campaign season..

I would address one subcounty and bring delegates from the other remaining three to address them. So, I would not reach all my people. But you can reach more people on radio when the Electoral Commission (EC) allocates politicians time, especially in the evening when people are at home”Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (Chris Kiwawulo – ‘Museveni speaks out on opening schools’ 16.08.2020).

President for Life, the Eternal Prince and the Don of the Republic, Yoweri Kaguta Museveni can act like its a democratic playing-field, where everyone can act accordingly and have their say. However, that is far from the truth. His people can do whatever and they are allowed to breech presidential directives and campaign guidelines from the Electoral Commission. Heck, himself doesn’t have to abide to it either. It’s all fair game and they will be ensured the victory in the end.

His Excellency can act like its an good idea to be on the radio. The President can say there will be delegated time-slots and opportunity for all candidates to be on-air. However, the issue is that the broadcasters, the editors and the owners are holding control over these. There are stations owned by relics, historicals and backers of the Movement. Will these open up the air for Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine or someone swinging for the FDC ?

Like we are supposed to forget there has been initiated two specialized units, one for media control and one for population control. Where one is part of the army and the other police force. Both will in general be used to disperse and arrest opposition candidates and their supporters. To think otherwise is to foolish at this point.

President Museveni can think we are all stupid. That we are all dumb and don’t know his ways. Not like he have opened the floodgates and given way to the opposition. It is not like they can run on any narrow street and spread their gospel. No, they have to get a nudge from the authorities, they have to secure a venue and then pray to the Gods that the authorities actually let them.

So, when they struggle so hard to do party politics outside their headquarters. You can wonder, if the President would have been able to walk so proud and with high regard. If he had to go through what the opposition does on his watch. The old man with the hat clearly doesn’t see the ills of his ways. The way his destroying the political sphere only for short-sighted personal gains.

The President is winning this election. Just like he has done with all the other elections. Not because of his popularity or his standing in the public. No, his winning because he has the guns and the loyalty among the authorities. The men he feeds and appoints serves him. However, when these rented men betrays him. At that point he will loose it all.

At this very moment. The opposition struggles to have a voice. Within the small space they have. They are trying to reach the public, use the digital means, while the Movement can campaign like usual. Clearly, there is a mixed bag of approach to the guidelines. One for the NRM and another for the rest.

The President knows this as well, but will act differently. That’s why he takes us for fools. That we are so dumb and doesn’t understand his vision. However, his vision is blurred, his foresight isn’t that clever and at one point of time. He will understand his failure, but he will not profess it. Because, that means he has to redeem his soul and his conscience. Two things he sold a long time ago for the golden opportunity to stay in power for life. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni can sleepwalk into the elections [as the opposition only aim at their own]

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) who are not caring about the guidelines or the regulations for COVID-19 or Coronavirus. Who are busy scheduling all activities ahead of the General Elections of 2021. also settling the final flag-bearers of the party. Which sometimes are the same-old, same-old and dozens of sole candidates. The NRM looks solid ahead of the elections.

At this point, as the President Museveni is busy preparing for this 8th Term since 1986. The man, the legend, the dictator and the President for Life. The supposed Fountain of Honour and His Excellency can just sleep. He can be lazy, he can squander around and even have a few scandals on his hands.

The opposition are busy scheming tearing each other apart. The Uganda People’s Congress is the NRM-Light at this point. The big-man Akena and his wife is both in the sphere of the President. They have traded perks and agreement with the NRM .The UPC is only viable in small pockets and doesn’t have the organization nor trust in the public. Because of the trade-off that Akena, Son-of-Obote did in the last election cycle.

Democratic Party have been raided, taken by everyone. Norbert Mao should by crying at home this weekend. The day of betrayal was this week and he lost his MPs. He got none of the big-men and the party is weakened. There is little left and the promise in the months ahead can’t be much. Not like they can muster such voices and cadres over night. To take the space, which these MPs left.

Forum for Democratic Change are also weakened, also many questions about where they are turning. The ghost of Besigye. While Lukwago only created questions of protocol and validity of the nomination process. No matter what it does, it has lost plenty of the faction belonging to Muntu. The pragmatic part of the FDC has left and the defiance of Besigye lingers on. We can wonder what it will do and how it will become the biggest opposition party again. It needs to show flex and muscle ahead. Needs to drop heavy hitters of flag-bearers and show it isn’t just a punchline.

One of the newcomers, who has shown new strength is Muntu and his Alliance of National Transformation (ANT). Most of this has come by weakening the FDC. The ones who was supporters and allies of Muntu is the ones that left the FDC. There are very few independents who has come, except for Kassiano Wadri. Who is also a former FDC, but had left the party already. Muntu got some good people around him, but he seems like his trying to do the same thing he always does. Saying the right things, but not really challenging status quo.

The second newcomer is the People Power Movement and the National Unity Platform. Where Bobi Wine have really scored big and creating headlines. A man who is getting support from all parties and independents. He raided the DP party and gotten several of MPs standing for the NUP. Right now the momentum of the opposition is in his hands. He even got the nudge of the DP Block and the Justice forum for the Presidency. However, JEEMA will field own MPs and not do that under the NUP flag. Showing, there are a balance of sorts and there will be honest competition.

The DP is losing big, FDC is weakened and creating uncertainty, as the biggest party and the one historically challenging the President. Museveni must be giddy that the FDC is lingering like this. Instead of having a steady line and showing resilience. The up-hill battle that persist must be tiring and that’s why its showing some fatigue.

ANT and NUP are revitalized, but they are still not that big or organized like the FDC. Bobi Wine has momentum, but he needs support from everywhere to get the final push. He got friends all around, but with purges like recently in the DP: There might be fear that does happen elsewhere too.

The NRM should be joyful that the opposition looks like this. The message is distorted and the opposition is busy seeing whose deflecting and whose staying. Not to talk about finding out who is the flag-bearer and who gets the nominations. There are so much in-fighting.

There is more talk about what’s happening between the parties. The new and the old. If the old parties have the push or if they are out of steam. We can wonder ourselves. If this is all meal-ticket politics or actual battle for change.

Museveni is lucky with this. They are not pin-point at his failures, at him tanking the economy, taking up more loans and continuing his impunity in power. He can walk free of that. Only touched a small amount of time. Instead of being the target, the one people are aiming for and proving his recklessness. That is what they should do. Expose and show the intolerant and the state sponsored brutality, which is the image of this state.

Except he gets away with that. As he visits factories, radio stations and hold speeches on the regular. He walks and travels at ease like a bird. While the others are in cages and they are not even allowed to sing. Peace.

Bobi Wine blocked from a radio appearance in Mbale

On the 8th August 2020, the Police Force was ready and had besieged BCU Radio in Mbale, Eastern Uganda. Where Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine was scheduled this morning to be on air. Again, the law enforcement has decided to politically engage and block an opposition from entering a media house. As per standard.

We know the drill, they will pin-point the elections road-map and “scientific” elections. We know this. The Police will say they wasn’t informed enough or had the capacity to let him attend. However, they always have enough manpower to block a venue, tear-gas and use live-bullets. Cause a lot of chaos and arrests. Nevertheless, not enough security to ensure the safety of the political opponent of the President. No, that they don’t prioritize. It is less costs to cause possible harm and make arbitrary arrests.

While this is happening to Bobi Wine, we know that the National Resistance Movement are holding rallies, are campaigning in their districts and using their roles as Ministers and MPs to give gifts, donate and start their campaigns for 2021.

So, there is a clear double standard. Where the Movement are above the rest. They are the anointed, who can act above guidelines and the laws of the land, while the opposition have to abide and even when they do. They are not allowed. There voices are silenced and their place to in prison of their own homes. Since, they should not dare to aim at the throne.

Bobi Wine is a prime example of that. A man who tries to campaign, tries to hold radio shows, but is not allowed. Paying to be on-air, but radios are either blocked, authorities saying “no” or his arrested for trying.

Today, he was blocked. God knows what happens tomorrow. But this is a familiar game and its systematic. The political police force is in full effect and today it hit Bobi Wine. Peace.

Opinion: Zaake MP will only get served injustice…

There will be no justice in the cases surrounding Francis Zaake MP. To think so is bitterly naive and redundant at this point. The National Unity Platform (NUP) and People Power Movement MP for Mityana will not be served justice or paid costs for the hardship, the torture or the arbitrary arrests done against him.

All the pain he has gone through since Arua By-Election. All the arrests, charges and the twice tortured for being the man he is and the sort of opposition he is. Zaake is getting the blunt and brutal force dropped right in his lap.

Zaake MP the man who couldn’t stand on his feet, but still was able to escape police custody. The man who needed permission to get counsel and visits at a hospital. Needed special care and concern before he got a fit-to-flight and bond to do so. Even has he was struggling after the blunt force and the trauma he had.

That is the sort of treatment and service the state delivers to its own MP. The ones speaking of justice, democracy and freedom. Should clearly look into the cases surrounding this man. The treatment this man is getting and what he has to go through. Just to give neighbours some food, to be an active politician and activist. It clearly costs and the authorities can violate you without any punishment or retribution towards them.

The can break his arm, hit his head and bruise his skin. They can harm a man without any consideration or inkling. These people can just use their means to cause pain and suffering. While he has to beg for justice, go back to the courts who are not willing to apprehend their own, but a man like him. They can produce this man in court, when his nearly stopping from breathing and at a abysmal state. That is fine and dandy, but the ones causing him that state. Will not even attend a trial or be called for. This shows whose the overlords and whose the peasants of this society.

When police officers, law enforcement can skate free after harming and damaging a fellow citizen, a citizen who is an MP and they don’t even have to set foot in a court. While this man had to be produced when his skull was harmed and his bones was healing. That shows the impunity and the lack of justice in the Republic.

How easily they could raid his home, detain him and hurt him. While it will take forever and be nearly impossible to answers for the ills committed. That will be like pulling canine teeth. An affair and troublesome ways to justice.

In the republic of Museveni. Impunity and injustice is awarded, while defiance and civil disobedience against him is punished with furious vengeance. A vengeance that Zaake knows all to well. He has tasted the bittersweet remedy of the power-trip these officers has, as they are following command and orders from “high above”.

That is why Zaake will not get his justice. Especially not for now. They will not do that, because that implies their actions are wrong. That the state did something wrong in ordering and sanctioning it. This will not happen, they rather keep it up in the air and hoping it will be forgotten about. Peace.

Opinion: Colour me red…

This isn’t Red Dead Redemption or any other thing associated with the colour. No, this is just a small piece of utter rubbish thrown the way of National Unity Platform, the Political Party of the People Power Movement, which is lead by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine.

He has ruffled some feathers; he has stood tall during trouble. While remaining calm and collected. Others might have given up or traded for greener pastures, but Bobi Wine has carried that stick and taken that burden with him. Just like others who has worked for the same cause in the past. Bobi Wine isn’t the first and hopefully not the last. He has taken a stand and works against the oppression, militarism and the ability to enjoy liberty and freedom in the Republic.

So, now that the Electoral Commission are warning of the usage of colour, the party NUP of using red, because its owned by Uganda People’s Congress (UPC). You know things has gone stupid. As the UPC has three colours, FDC has three colours and so has plenty of other parties. The same has NUP, but they are defiant in their red beret and colour of the umbrella.

It just like the state agency, the government are looking for any excuse, reason or argument to deregister the NUP. While using allies in the UPC as a shield. Using Akena, the son of Obote as a spokesperson for the foolish attempt to tarnish and to talk in defence of the colour red. Jimmy could have talked about black and blue too? Why haven’t the UPC tried to block FDC from using blue?

Because it’s a foolish enterprise like selling sand in the middle of a desert. That is how it is and only idiots are eating up the hot garbage.

Jimmy, Jimmy, Jimmy, who knew you would sell out this way? Who knew you would trade away your father’s legacy and party over such insignificant thing? How narrow-minded are you Jimmy?

I just got to ask, because, there is no way in the world the UPC owns a colour. That is just nonsense. Because, Justice Forum (JEEMA) is blue, Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) is blue, National Convention For Democracy (NCD) in blue and Liberal Democratic Transparency (LDT) is blue too.

So, why can’t NUP and UPC both be RED? What’s the issue, unless you’re a pawn for the grand party and want to be used?

Akena wants to be on the bus so badly. Since he knows his no conducting anything fruitful. A pawn and he hate it. He wants to be a big shot, but isn’t, he cannot even come out of the shadow of Otunnu. That is such a poor leader he is.

That is why he got use his platform to attack NUP. Since he knows that is the only way he can get brownie points and get a moment of nostalgia with the Head of State. If he doesn’t he will be forgotten and not seen as useful at all. That is why he does this.

We can all see, the partisan Electoral Commission can let four parties have the colour blue, so why not two have the colour red, suddenly?

That’s how dumb this is. Peace.

Opinion: Wadri’s gamble

Kassiano Wadri won the polls on the 15th August 2018 in by-election in Arua district, which by now has been a unique one, because of the aftermath for the opposition. Wadri has gone from the Forum for Democratic Change, which he represented between 2001 to 2016 in Terengo County, while he now represents Arua Muncipality as Independent with the help People Power Movement in the By-Election.

That is why his dismissal and arrogance of the organization of People Power and National Unity Platform (NUP). Can prove to be a lot eat for the ones who elected him in and especially depending on who the NUP and People Power field in his stead.

He has now revealed his next step is go to Alliance for National Transformation (ANT). Mugisha Muntu also campaigned for Wadri in Arua in 2018. Therefore, he had help from both Muntu and Bobi Wine. While the popularity of Bobi Wine is of another league in comparison to Muntu. To think otherwise is very foolish.

Wadri was the joint candidate in the area and in the by-election. He has now picked his man and his team. Even downplaying the People Power, which is interesting as his a coordinator. He acts like Tinkasmiire. Just think about that for minute, there is similarities in the statements of Wadri, as it was of Tinkasmiire. Both mocking and joking about the work and organization of People Power. That signals the arrogance of some leaders.

Yes, Wadri has won with the FDC the Terengo County seat since 2001 and is well-known. He has been a major player in Arua district and therefore, re-elected. However, this is really shady of him to act like this. We don’t know if Bobi Wine was a factor in the Arua By-Election.

Nevertheless, we know it amplified the elections and gave more firepower to the campaigning. In a manner, which Muntu never would have been able too. We can act like there wasn’t help that all parties stepped aside for Wadri. This time around the FDC, NRM and everyone else will field their flag-bearer. The challenge is bigger than Wadri versus Tiperu. Someone who has never won, but tried again and again.

Wadri can act like a big-man, as his used to get his way and also get elected. However, will he be able to stand People Power flag-bearer in a race with more candidates. It will not be a race with two candidates contesting. There will be from FDC, DP, PPM/NUP and so fourth.

Kassiano might think this power-play is wise. That he goes ring-side and such. Again, it shows that Bobi Wine loyalty is fickle and easily traded away. We know like Mwiru, Wadri have been a supporter of Muntu. Therefore, the move isn’t surprising, but its behaviour towards Bobi Wine and PPM, which is disrespectful.

He be ahead, as his the incumbent and have represented two counties in Arua district. Wadri might feel he has teflon and doesn’t need anyone. Still, its bad politicking doing this. I understand that he feels loyalty to Muntu. That is fine and dandy, but the way he undermines People Power is not what you should see from a seasoned politician like him. Especially, when they came for you aid and support in the recent Arua By-Election.

Wadri might think his the joker, the man of the hour and important where-ever he is. As his been part of FDC and had vital roles in the party. Even tried to swipe the role of Mafabi without luck. So, now his like Muntu in new fields, but we can wonder how this journey ends in 2021. Peace.

Opinion: Tinkasimire is finessing the game

People Power is a political club, the NRM is a political party. In People Power, we were just driving an agenda of change, In NRM, there are structures and processes.”Barnabas Tinkasimire

The supposed rebel is mocking the pressure group his participating in, because he wants to show loyalty to the President and the Movement. That is not shocking. He has been open about being a NRM MP and continuing to subscribe to the party. Even as he was put in the charge of co-ordinating for Bunyoro.

Tinkasimire might get some brownie points with the President by stating this to the Press. After having the meeting earlier in the week. Where all NRM Rebel MPs paid respects and kneeled to their king. The protocol the MP talks about. The structure of being blindly loyal to the Old Man with the Hat. Follow his NRM CEC and not questioning his decisions. That is the party Barnabas is so proud off.

The man that is calling People Power a political club is demeaning and downplaying its organization. A pressure group run by Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. It is just like his saying its not sincerely working and they are just playing around. When calling it a club his initially saying its fun and games, while the Movement is serious. That shows how insincere Barnabas is at this point.

Barnabas is saying the NRM is the United Nations, but People Power is the Model United Nations. This should infuriate Bobi Wine and his close associates. That someone he trusted to lead the Bunyoro chapter thinks like this. If he says this now, he should distance himself from Barnabas.

Tinkasimire is showing his true colours. It is a facade what his doing in People Power. If he trusts the structure and process of the NRM. If he does that, what the hell does do in People Power?

That doesn’t make sense. When he wants to act like rebel, but trust the President and his ways. If you find that weird. Your part of the clique and we see the same sort of thing.

Why do you join a club and talk it down? When your already a part of party that your believe in and enjoy the comforts from?

It doesn’t make sense. Unless, he now wants to show loyalty after getting the good graces against after the meeting at the State House last week. That would make sense and shows People Power where his heart is. Especially, he speaks of change, but wants to have process of NRM. That is just foolish at best. Then he wants to blindly follow the “high above” and continue a charade as a “rebel”. I am sure President is happy about that. He has someone who can tell and has his ears to everything happening within People Power.

That is why the Bunyoro role of Tinkasimire should be in question. As he says the PPM isn’t that serious. While praising his party. That’s just a pure insult for the causes that PPM is supposed to be about.

Why are you having people within the Pressure Group who confess their admiration to the party, which your trying to overcome?

That’s Math, which doesn’t add up. 1 +1 = 3 or 1,5 and certainly not 2. If you want change and make difference. To be associated with the likes of Tinkasimire … is just vouching to have Movement friendly people and only uses PPM to get more votes. While he will continue to work for the status quo. A status quo the PPM is supposed to meet head-on. Peace.
