Kenya: Former President Ruto – Tomorrow will not be ready for a “new normal”

Today is a day that could be the final one. Nothing is sacred. Nothing is holy and nothing cannot be touched. Especially, when the people are tired, fatigued and lack any sort of proper results from their government. A government that is preoccupied with eating, living lavish and not delivering sufficient services to the population.

The Kenyan people are tired of years and decades of lacking service delivery from the government. The Executive, the cabinet and the high-ranking officials haven’t delivered. They have found ways of siphoning funds and eating of the plate of others. That’s what they have been preoccupied in doing. It is what the state has become, and the leaders are so accustomed to it.

We can understand the tiredness and anger, the frustration, and the blatant voices of discontent after what they have been through. We have seen no changes and just empty promises. The state has offered and said it would make a difference. However, it never comes and never reforms itself. Only ensures enrichment of the high-ranking officials who are gaining and gaining on end.

The acts of Parliament to push through the Finance Bill of 2024 and the voting of deployment of Kenyan Defence Forces (KDF) on the streets this week. It only shows what the representatives, the MPs and the Cabinet Secretaries are up too. The same with Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula. The whole leadership surrounding Ruto is rotten to the core. The system is made to be indifference and be for one elite. That’s why they don’t mind the cost on others. If you look at the he Appropriation Bill 2024, you see more of the same. That’s why the regime needed more taxation to pay for the lavish spending on itself and it’s allies.

Former President Ruto can today show heart and allow the demonstrators to show their emotions. The state should allow the citizens to voice their dissenting voices. They need to be able to go and walk around. Harambee house or anywhere for that matter. They should be allowed to go to State House(s) or State Lodges. They should be able to protest at government buildings and government institutions. Those buildings and entities are there to serve them and be there for them. If they cannot go there or protest around it. Then something is wrong with the state itself. They should allow to enter and be around them. It is theirs to begin with and the former President isn’t the owner of the Harambee house. No, the current custodian of it is there on behalf of the protesting civilians. That is something the former President has to get accustomed with.

Now the protesters can protest against the abduction of citizens, activists and people who has participated in previous demonstrations. The protestors can protest the lives who was taken and remember their sacrifice. The protestors can protest the need for health care and nourishment for all the ones that has been injured in the previous protests. They can protest that the state isn’t a military one and neither a police state. No, they have a right to assemble and protest the state without fear, intimidation and without lethal violence from the state.

Ruto and his cronies has forgotten that fact. The leadership of the security organizations and the monopoly of violence come from the high command. They are the ones that starts and uses brutality to quell protests. That’s orders from the state and from His Excellency himself. A man who wants this to end, but the protesters wants this to be his end.

It is time for Ruto to read the room. The usage of the state as a slush-fund and eating are over. The same should the political elite surrounding him see as well. We have seen this happen again and again. The story is never ending.

The protests now are a sign of change, a sign of that the tide is turning. The people had enough. The lies of Ruto cannot save him nor his government. That ship has sailed. The deaths, the extra judicial killings, the political prisoners, prisoners of conscience and abducted are all victims to the regime that thinks it is above them. This is why Ruto should have let go already, but we know he won’t do that. He hopes he can stand tall and overcome this. But it seems like this time around.

There will be no new normal tomorrow. The pressure is on and it haven’t stopped. Peace.

Opinion: Riggy G cannot call of anything

Please make an announcement this evening and call off the protests so that we can begin honest conversations on how to work in our country. Consider a plan to help families who have lost their livelihoods. This should have never happened” – Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua (26.06.2024)

The Deputy President cannot “kill” or “silence” an idea that is already present. There is no return or no way back. After the actions of his government and fellow allies… the public are right to be in mourning, in sorrow and in anger. Their rights has been violated with lethal means. People have died because they demonstrated and people are hurting as a cause of it. The vindictive and viscousness of the state has been so severe. There is no way back now…

This confrontation will continue now. The goal post has shifted. It is about more than the Finance Bill of 2024. Now its about a rotten system, a core functional body and how that is operating. Which is a part of the cog that the Deputy President is operating in. His involved in the matter and should be a former Deputy President by now. Not only his boss should be a former President. However, they should resign and call for new General Elections. That’s what should be done, but we know they are weathering the storm and hoping the pressures ceases. So things can go back to “normal” after the unique days that has just entered.

This was a promise that both the President and I made. We want to call the overzealous heads of security agencies not to be tempted to use the criminal justice system to manage politics. Let us manage politics the conventional way through reaching out, consensus and concurrence” (…) “The President and I promised that never again will the criminal justice system be used to manage politics” (Gachagua, 26.06.2024).

The Deputy President can speak his peace and ask for a peaceful route. Nevertheless, the public is the decision makers. The citizens has the final say and they can use their voices to be heard. The political elite didn’t listen and take into account their grievances. The Parliament voted on the bill regardless and pushed it through. Just like it pushed through the agenda of having the soldiers deployed on the streets, which was in violation of the Constitution. This government have no trouble using all means to survive.

Former President Ruto has no trouble using all avenues to succeed and violence follows his name. Violence is part of his ethos and what has given him power. That’s why he goes to it in the hour of need. Uses the brutality, the lethal force and the usage of fear to intimidate in such a fashion that he overcomes any obstacle in his way. This was supposed to go the same, but it doesn’t feel that way.

That’s why Riggy G is trying to sound smart, sophisticated and thoughtful. His trying to forge a narrative and get someone else to be the scapegoat in all of this. Alas, that is the problem. The Whole Kenya Kwanza, the President and everyone in the inner-circle are all in on it. If they weren’t… they wouldn’t have forced the vote and let it happen. However, they did and it shows their “heart” or lack thereof…

The Former Deputy President better resign and bow out with honour. If he has any. He and others should follow after yesterday. Regardless of what happens tomorrow or the day after. The mourning is occurring, but the battle isn’t over. The citizens of Kenya deserves more and better. That isn’t what this leadership is giving them. They think they can dupe and outsmart them.

That’s why Riggy G cannot stop the idea or the ideals of the protest. They will continue until they get their way. Peace.

Opinion: That he [former President Ruto] didn’t assent doesn’t matter…

Today it’s official that former President William Ruto didn’t assent the Financial Bill of 2024 after getting the majority vote earlier in the day yesterday. The Parliament are now going into recess later today and most likely the Parliament won’t touch any of the amendments or anything else.

What is happening after yesterday’s violence, lethal attacks on civilians and extra judicial killings by law enforcement. Yesterday will forever stain the reign of Ruto. He cannot return into power or be respected as the Head of State after what happened. Ruto cannot be legitimate or even seen as the President. That ship has sailed…

Former President Ruto should just resign and the dissolve the whole Parliament. The political elite which is currently there isn’t serving the will of the people. They are there for personal reasons and their own wealth. That’s why they are serving and being representatives.

It is hard to believe this was done because of the pressure. Yesterday evening the former President called the protesters “criminals” and “treasonous”. Now he didn’t assent the same bill they are rejecting. Therefore, this doesn’t add up.

This is buying “peace” but a fake peace. A man who secured the ordering of soldiers and the army on the streets. He knows there will be more protestors and they are not done. The citizens and people are tired of this regime. They don’t trust Ruto, and neither should they.

Ruto and his cronies has already shown his “heart”. The former President has shown his priorities and has lost face. There is nothing he can salvage. The deaths, the murders and the misuse of power is shown. It has been televised and the hurt is now open. The state haven’t tried to fix it or listen to the pleas.

That’s why the sending back of the bill is only a half-assed way of looking like he cares. Nevertheless, he won’t do much and it will much ado nothing in the end. That’s what he does… and we can see it coming. His a con, a long-con and a serial-liar. The former President only thinks about himself and his own wealth. That’s why his there and being the Head of State.

The Finance Bill of 2024 is still a viable thing. It is not yet gone. That won’t go away that easily. Ruto will still make it happen, as the man who needs IMF and World Bank on his side. He needs them to cover for his overspending and shortfalls in the budgets. That’s why their policies and strings attached matters more than the complaining people on the streets. The money from the IMF is more important than them.

That’s what Ruto has already shown. The Kenya Kwanza and allies of Ruto will push it through. They hope to buy time, but it is futile. The people aren’t having it. The costs are already to big and he should have seen the writing on the wall. Instead, he used live bullets to get it his way. That’s who Ruto is and that’s now his legacy.

Ruto’s violence will live on forever. That will be attached to his name. The victims, the killings and the violence will be how we remember him. Peace.

Opinion: Kenya doesn’t deserve to bleed…

“53 deaths were recorded from Tuesday’s Anti-Finance Bill protests. 30 were from Githurai 45 night killings and 23 from the daytime demonstrations. 100 more are nursing gunshot wounds, according to the Police Reforms Working Group. PRWG is an alliance of national and grassroots organisations committed to professional and rule-of-law policing” (The Eastleigh Voice, 26.06.2024).

The protests the Finance Bill happened across the Republic yesterday. Lots of county assemblies was breached, businesses of MPs touched, and the Parliament was occupied. The MPs have now held assembly and ordered the Kenya Defence Forces to the streets to stop them from protesting. The representative has forgotten who they represent and who they are representing. As they are trying to force people of the streets and just accept the state are overtaxing them.

That’s what is happening in Kenya. The President and the High-Ranking Officials are busy violating the rights of the people. They want to silence and intimidate the ones who wants to fight for their living. The cost of living is already a heavy burden, and the new taxation is taking blood out of a stone. It is reason why millions went to the streets yesterday.

That the state took over 50 people’s lives yesterday is telling. The number of deaths shows how sinister and grim the realities are. The usage of lethal weapons and live bullet has caused this much damage. The hurt and pain, the suffering and lingering tension will be everlasting.

The actions are already made, and the regime is only making it worse. Instead of taking things to account and trying to salvage something. It is instead using more force and willing to make a warzone to stay in office. The time to reign in and try to find another way out was there; but now he chooses to go somewhere else.

President Ruto and his Kenya Kwanza have forgotten why they are there. The people shouldn’t die on the streets. People shouldn’t be killed by law enforcement. There shouldn’t be the usage of live bullets on unarmed civilians. However, that is a choice that the regime did and what Ruto wanted. This is the Kenya his proud of and what he stands for. Usage of violence, intimidation, and force to be in office. That’s who Ruto is, and he shows it.

We should weep, be sad and be worried. The republic deserves better. The people of Kenya shouldn’t live like this. The Kenyan people deserves a government serving them and listening to their pleas. Not fight on the streets and be victims of violence from it. They should be represented and have a say.

That is something Ruto doesn’t offer them, and he rather order live bullets against them. Then have a conversation and try to appease them. That’s who he is and it’s tragic. Peace.

Ruto should become a “former President” now!

“Wherever there is violence, it seems Ruto’s name features. It began with the infamous YK’92. Then came Kiambaa and Ruto’s trip to The Hague. Soon, witnesses started disappearing or being found murdered. Ruto’s name keeps cropping up in other cases – I won’t name them. And now here he is again, along with his running-mate, making wild accusations and telling implausible stories that can only have an ill intent” (The Elephant – ‘“How Could William Ruto Contain RVP?”: Echoes of 2007 in Kenya Kwanza Rhetoric” 07.08.2022).

Yesterday’s violence and lethal attacks on civilians shouldn’t shock anyone. For decades that’s been the method of His Excellency, Commander-in-Chief and the hustler, William Ruto. This has been done way back to the early 1990s and unto present day.

He has used methods of violence, intimidation and used armed groups to get his way. That was done to serve KANU and former President Daniel Arap Moi. Later he did so to further his cause in the election violence of 2007. As soon as the International Criminal Court (ICC) started to look into that. The Deputy President ensured the witnesses was tampered with or silenced, so the Hague couldn’t build a proper case or be able to validation of criminal actions made by Ruto.

Yesterday we saw it again and he has no trouble causing violence for his personal benefit. Former President Ruto is willing to do so and silence the ones who are in his way. That’s what is personal and important to his ambition. His now on the top and he fought his way there from the KANU days to the Jubilee and now UDA. Every step is one way higher and higher.

That there is blood, victims and innocent lives taken for his personal gains isn’t important. What is important is that Ruto gets power and stays in power. Now he will order the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) on unarmed civilians. The President now wants soldiers on the streets and defend his reign. He wants the army to serve him and be his token mercenaries.

Ruto wants to launch his junta and military state. The military is his henchmen and guards to keep him in power. It is not the will of the people or listening to them. No, the people is just pawns for him. The tyrant and the King of Kenya.

William Ruto is for many the Former President. He shouldn’t be there anymore. Yesterday proves just that. The President should be impeached. The Parliament to be dissolved and fresh elections for new representation in the county assemblies too. Therefore, there is a need for new blood and people who wants to serve the public.

Former President Ruto. Get the memo. Time to retire. Time to resign and go home. William Ruto has done enough. There is enough blood on his hands. There are enough people who has died for him to stay in office. He shouldn’t be there anymore, and his time is up. Peace.

Kenya: Office of the 4th President of the Republic of Kenya – Statement by H.E. Uhuru Kenyatta, C.G.H, Fourth President of the Republic of Kenya (25.06.2024)

Former President William Ruto has lost the people…

President William Ruto warns perpetrators and financiers of violence and anarchy that security apparatus will be deployed to protect lives. President William Ruto says that criminal elements hijacked peaceful protests. He says he will continue to lead a government that is fully committed to protect the sovereignty of the country and protect lives. Says he will continue to lead the country which all sovereign powers belongs to the people which shall be exercised according to the Constitution. The country shall treat every threat to the state as an existential danger to Kenya’s security. The government will provide a swift, full and effective response to today’s treasonous event” (The Eastleigh Voice, 25.06.2024)

Today on the 25th June 2024, the moment of change and the moment of reckoning was upon us. The Republic of Kenya has forever been changed. The actions of the people and their will on the streets across the Republic has shown their feet, their voice and their dissent.

The Parliament continued the process and voted in majority for the Finance Bill of 2024. A bill that people wanted to reject and stop. They didn’t want more taxes and getting a huger burden on their shoulders. However, the President and his cronies didn’t care about that.

The public prepared and was ready. The citizens had a plan and aimed at the throne. Their anger and resolute ideas was unfolding. They were tired of being taken for granted and accepting more pain. There was too much water under the bridge.

Now the state has attacked them, abducted them, injured them and even killed them. The state is now using military force to silence them. That’s being done without Constitutional Order, but by a Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale taking power unto his own hands. This shows how power corrupts and how they are not willing to listen to the dissent in the Republic.

President William Ruto is already the Former President in plenty people’s eyes. A man who is blind-sided and he cannot return to normal now. He will never be respected or be seen as a honourable. The dead, the detained and the injured are on his hands. The brutality and the lethal usage of live bullets against unarmed civilians is saying enough. The state ordered vicious and vindictive tactics to silence the protests. Therefore, calling the citizens criminal and treasonous. Just shows how he has lost them.

The Former President better resign and retire. The career as the Head of State is over. The whole elite surrounding him should follow suit. They are all losers and no one in the right mind respects any of them. They are illegitimate and insincere people who are now in dire jeopardy. The whole electorate and most of the population is ready to see them gone.

Former President Ruto will forever regret the last acts and the violence used on civilians. Those wounds can never be healed and they will remember that he did it to them. The usage of lethal weapons and military to quell the will of the people. It is only showing how he wants to be the tyrant and the dictator. He wants to bring in a new Moi Era and be the Grand Dictator.

Nevertheless, the people aren’t prepared to be ruled by a dictator or a tyrant. They want representatives that actually represents them. The people wants people who are representing their will. However, Ruto and his kind won’t do that…

When the state is willing to kill and call civilians “criminals” that’s when you know a Head of State is naked. His reign is over and practically it is only a matter of time. Time which Ruto doesn’t have and has totally lost. Maybe he should even consider exile. His a King without a Kingdom. That’s tragic for him, but even more worse for the citizens who currently are ruled by him. Peace.
