Unfortunately, inadvertently, or wittingly Ethiopia is in the process of self-destruction simply because its rulers are recklessly waging destructive war on own citizens by inviting foreign army to dehumanise and depersonalise the citizens. We have categorically denounced such brutal war on own citizens from its very onset. Therefore, in the face of a continued siege imposed on Tigray by Ethiopian government following Tigray’s invasion by allied forces involving foreign actors including the Eritrean Army, UAE’s, Turkey’s, Iran’s, and China’s drones strikes since November 04, 2020; over 90% of the Tigray’s over 6 million people are denied access to necessities such as food, banking, telecommunication, electricity, and the other basic services. Hospitals, factories, universities, religious institutions, and infrastructures were decimated due to the indicated war.
It is now close to 2 years since such tragic incidents unfolded to leave citizens fighting for their mere survival. Therefore, the Tegarus have no time for luxurious talk of anything else other than fighting for their survival because, the objective of the war waged on Tigray is eradicating them from the face of earth according to the vows of the government and its hatred intoxicated supporters. To date citizens in Tigray mainly and Oromia and elsewhere generally are needlessly dying for no apparent reasons only to satisfy the vindictive appetites of invading allied forces including that of the Eritrea’s dictator.
An historic tragedy unfolding in Tigray has never seen before in the empire’s soil and the wider world although the rest of Ethiopians to date remain oblivious silent and they are willingly sending their children to fight unnecessary genocidal war with their brothers and sisters. Their cooperation with the regime committing genocide on own citizens and to date hell bent in continuing to do so; dictates the fact that they are equally committing inexcusable crimes whose consequences will touch each and individual household of the empire sooner or later.
In fact, the consequence of the war is already touching every single household as sky rocketing price and unmanageable level of living conditions shake the foundation of the empire as ongoing war swallows down the entire economy due to the regime’s becoming engrossed in using the available scarce resources on purchasing of weapons to dehumanise citizens. The international key players also remain oblivious only paying lip services.
Furthermore, the war in Tigray, Oromia, Agaw, Benishangul, Afar, Amhara, Kemant, Ogaden Somali and elsewhere in the empire is wreaking havoc causing the death and displacements of millions mainly in Tigray and generally in Oromia and elsewhere. Moreover, Abiy Ahmed’s War in Oromia is also causing silent genocide where the citizens are agonisingly dying in their thousands due to manmade and naturally caused adverse weather conditions. Last week’s massacre of Oromo civilians in West Wolaga, Horo-Guduru district was therefore a part of Oromo disabling project that we strongly condemn.
In the face of such tragedies, wittingly or unwittingly, the elites of nations and nationalities in Ethiopia are falling their Tegaru, and Oromo brothers and sisters by embarking on Tigray and Oromo eradication mission that is masterminded by Abiy Ahmed’s regime and his vindictive allies who are all determined on continuing with self-destructive mission by binning the option of peaceful political solution. Additionally, as indicated, the peoples of Ethiopia are failing their Tegaru brothers and sisters by sending their children to fight meaningless and unjust war. Those who are recruited to fight their own brothers and sisters are often blessed by religious leaders who openly supported the Tigray War thus fail their religious duties and moral obligations. We, the Sidama nation feel extremely saddened to observe in our lifetime such brutality happening to fellow citizens and mankind generally.
The unprecedented level of suffering of citizens in Tigray due to ongoing allied war, the continued siege, and the denial of access to basic services defies sane belief. Besides, the PP regime, its vindictive supporters and the Eritrean despot are hellbent on keeping Tigray under siege until they ensure their total elimination. We strongly believe that what is happening to Tegarus in Tigray and in the rest parts of Ethiopia where they are ethnic-profiled, hunted and surrounded to be mass imprisoned in concentration camps throughout Ethiopia- is genocidal – that must be unconditionally denounced and stopped.
The Sidama nation sends its unreserved support to Tegarus and unequivocally makes it clear that the Sidama nation is not and never be part of such citizens’ dehumanising project. Instead, the Sidama nation unreservedly supports the Tigray’s and Oromo’s self-defending war with all possible means. Furthermore, the Sidama nation categorically denounces the denial of access to necessities to Tigray and urges the Ethiopian regime to unconditionally lift siege before sitting down for all-inclusive political dialogue that must involves OLA.
We call upon the Sidama nation to reject Abiy Ahmed’s call to send nation’s children to fight unnecessary war with own citizens in Tigray and Oromia instead refusing to obey the PP regime installed cadres in Sidama’s hardly earned state, in unison. We call upon all nations and nationalities of Ethiopia to stop sending of their children to fight unjust war with their brothers and sisters in Tigray instead urge them to support Tigray’s self-defending war. We urge the international community that is doing little or nothing as crimes against humanity, war crimes and genocides are unfolding in Tigray mainly and throughout the country generally; to discharge its moral obligations and international duties by taking urgent, and realistic measures to stop the suffering of millions in the besieged Tigray predominantly and in Oromia and elsewhere generally.
Deeply disturbed by the sad news of children and other civilians’ execution in Mekele’s Kindergarten and Hospital during the recent air and drone strikes of Ethiopian regime; we condemn with the strongest possible terms such barbarism to non-combatant civilians and demand the perpetrators to be brought to justice. We also urge the immediate removal of foreign army including the Eritreans from West Tigray and the rest parts of Ethiopian soil. Finally, we urge services to be urgently and unconditionally restored to Tigray before agreeing to a negotiated ceasefire thereby assume a formal all-inclusive dialogue for Ethiopia to continue as it used to be since its creation over 142 years ago.
These are left unaddressed, the SNLF sternly warns nations and nationalities who are supporting the regime committing genocide on own citizens; and the wider global key players, the consequence of the regime’s war on Tigray, Oromia and other parts of the country will be dangerously far reaching with debilitating damage not only to Ethiopians but also the wider horn and beyond. We urge an unconditional political solutions to be immediately sought after removing genocidal rope tied and tightened on Tigray, now!

“A command post is a committee of military personnel that actually holds power in an area under a state of emergency. In addition to command posts, the army also controls areas on many interregional borders” (Netherlands – ‘Country of Origin Information Report Ethiopia’ February 2021).
Today the National Security Council released a statement after holding a meeting. This meeting and statement is revelling the rising insecurity across the Republic. The authorities and the republic’s forces are stretched, apparently. Since there aren’t anywhere to hide or seek relief. The state is also claiming to catch “terrorists” on the regular, but that could also just mean “dissidents” or “opposition”. Since the Federal Government have hang of arresting vocal activists, journalists or anyone who dares to oppose it. Therefore, the definition of “terrorist” in Ethiopia in 2022 can be a bit “blurry” to put it mildly.
However, there was too very revealing things in the release from the National Security Council and even in the government press. The Command Post isn’t a new thing and was part of the former State of Emergencies that the previous Prime Minister and his political allies used to target dissidents. That’s why reading about them now and without declared “state of emergencies” it is clearly a tool of oppression and use of excessive force. Not that it’s shocking, since the army is used against civilians and not to defend the territories of Ethiopia against invaders. Alas, here is one of the problems. While the same government uses Command Post and goes after civilians while competing with rebellions. It surely is losing grounds and moral high-ground. Since, the population see the usage of force and cannot see the possible difference between a “terrorist” and a “government agent” except for the badge or label on their uniform.
Just read here from Government Friendly Press:
“According to the statement, to fully destroy the OLF-Shene terrorist group, command posts of Shewa, Wollega and Guji have been formed in Oromia Region. The national Defence Force, Oromia Region leadership and security forces are undertaking coordinated deployment to this end. Statement indicates that 3,280 militants of Shene have been captured, and others refused to surrender to the government forces have been destroyed” (Fana BC, 08.08.2022).
“The Somali Regional leadership mobilizing and involving the people took an exemplary measure against the enemy, the Council said. Saying that a command post including the national army is established, the council indicated that 813 Al-Shabab militants were killed while 79 others captured in a join operation” (Fana BC, 08.08.2022).
Yes, the OLF has targeted just like Querro did in the past. This is a continuation of that and the OLF has only been more vigilant as they are operating in what seems like war. That has been done for months and the state has promised to do the “final operation” and finish them. However, they never seem to be able or have the capacity to do so.
The attacks of Al-Shabaab is different and is foreign terrorist organization attacking Ethiopian soil. That is understandable and within reason of what a National Army should do. What I am more worried about is the establishment of Command Posts, which has been reflected as a means of “State of Emergency” and been used as a tool to silence the citizens of any given region, which we have seen before in Ethiopia. That’s why the Command Post usage both place can be questioned. Because, this tool has been used in the EPRDF time and now under PP.
This isn’t a sign of peace, but utter insecurity when the army has to control parts of regions under Command Posts. It shows that things are dire and not in good place. Also, shows how far reaching the troubles are now. As it is burning wherever you turn. Especially, if you read the statement of National Security Council. There wasn’t corner where the authorities needed to be vigilant or acts with suspicious. That is just saying something and how things really are. Peace.
