Opinion: The Guards will guard his coffee…

Similarly, handling the village thieves legally firmly, is good for the villages and also good for those thieves. I recently, got a report from anattendant of the advanced military course at the National Defence College, Njeru, following their field research. In the research, they noticed some People drying green coffee harvested prematurely. When they inquired, they were told by the Wanainchi that nibatangatangana (to compete with some other People as to who would do something first) with the marijuana-smoking youth that idle in the Trading Centres doing nothing and, then, steal People’s coffee at night. What are the RDCs doing? Why do they not engage these youth to direct their efforts towards honest work? How about the Police? If the concerned People do not act, I will involve the UPDF to empower all the wealth creators–farmers, etc–to guard their property by activating the vast militia of our LDUs. It will not be good for those thieves. This harvesting of immature coffee, will affect the quality of our coffee. It is not acceptable” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (31.12.2024).

I know, I know the Police Bonds are the biggest revelation of the Year End Address of Musveni. Nevertheless, the Uganda Law Society (ULS) has addressed that properly and don’t need to repeat the man. Therefore, I am going in on the one that was solidified in silence before the New Years.

As am I writing this in 2025. The UCDA was rationalized and signed the National Coffee (Amendment) Bill of 2024 was signed by the President on the 24th December 2024. When the villagers was back in the villages and the people affected was busy with Christmas schedules. People was busy buying food and drinks for the celebratory day. That’s when he did it and for a reason.

The nation got owners and tenants. The owners are the ones in power and the ones in the inner-circle. That’s why the villagers and farmers just have to accept this fate. This is done to takeover more control of the coffee and he wants to take it further.

Just a mere week after signing the law. His now making the National Army and other Security Organizations to guard the Coffee. That is preparing the total control of the cash-crop. It is showing how he will enforce his will and take it for himself.

The President is spilling the beans here. We have seen how the President decrees and orders the army around. They are involved in civilian matters for years. That’s why civilians are tried in Military Courts. Therefore, this isn’t anything new in the years of power of the President and his party, the National Resistance Movement (NRM).

Museveni has ordered the army to stop illegal fishing and delivering out nets against mosquitoes. The army has even been used to fix potholes and build stadiums. Therefore, there isn’t anything they cannot be micro-managed to do.

However, the army should secure the borders and the national integrity, therefore… is the coffe that important. The coffee is so vital for the economy and for the longevity of his reign. That he needs to guard it with soldiers and people has to follow orders of the high command. This is the gist here…

President Museveni is misusing his office and showing his junta affairs when he decides this is the way to resolve things. Instead of having the police to enforce the laws and securing the farmers. There isn’t incentive or means to an end. That’s why he takes the usage of the military to ensure his ends. It is really tragic that after all these years in power. A man who has been in office since the 1980s and he cannot find better measures to ensure development of the coffee crop. He only knows the guns and think the striking fear is the way of moving forward. This is going backwards into the future and will only make things worse.

Hungry soldiers and LDUs on the fields of coffee won’t make it more safer. Instead it will create more fear and intimidation. The soldiers will misuse this and most likely will extort the farmers. That is the end-game here and it will only hurt the production of the cash crop. This is how these sort of stupid ends. Therefore, the President cannot see this, because he thinks his clever.

Alas, that is the problem… and we can see it coming. Peace.

Uganda Law Society (ULS): Let’s fight corruption, not human rights (01.01.2025)

Rise Up Acholi: Christmas and New Years Message to Rise Up Acholi (RUA) Members (20.12.2024)

Nkunyingi Muwanda MP: Statement on Non-Diplomatic Rhetoric by the Chief of Defense Forces Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on Democratic Republic of Congo & Sudan that has Attracted Diplomatic Concerns (20.12.2024)

Opinion: “Kabobi” lives rent free in Muhoozi’s mind…

“Kabobi tries to pretend that he is Bob Marley’s successor. First of all, Bob Marley sang legendary music! Bob Marley was a handsome Munyankore whose teeth were organised! Kabobi’s teeth are very disorganised!” – General Muhoozi Kainerubaga (17.12.2024).

Yet again, we must discuss the actions of the General and Chief of Defence Forces of the Uganda People’s Defence Force (UPDF) Muhoozi Kainerubaga who has yet again used his Twitter fingers and posted filth on his X account. FYI: He has blocked me there and I feel very honoured by it.

Nevertheless, there is more important things to discuss. We know the violations of the UPDF Act doesn’t matter in regards to Muhoozi. General Muhoozi is above the law and is one of the owners of the Republic. Even if he isn’t on the deed or has any paper work to substantiate the ownership. He still acts entitled to rule and be the next in-charge. That’s how he operates and he significantly thinks his beyond any sort of accountability, which is striking too.

That’s why he can mock and ridicule a fellow citizen. The official leader of the Opposition and the biggest threat to the ruling regime. That’s what his doing and he is despicable at it too. No sort of moral high ground or any sort of policy discussion for that matter. Just blatant disregard and refutable discourse which is worthy of no one.

We are just seeing the vindictiveness of the state. Gen. Muhoozi have no regard for Bobi Wine. This is no breaking news, but it showing his true colours here. The Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) wants to be a serious outfit and a “party” for the future. However, they act as a unit of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) at the moment. The father is still having a say over the son. Nevertheless, we don’t know how long that last either.

Whatever there is to say. Is that KaBobi gives Muhoozi sleepless nights. They are grinding their teeth and are worried about his every action. That’s why they are trying to downplay him and act supreme over him. However, that is an hopeless enterprise when you come with nothing of substance in your attack of a fellow peer. No, Muhoozi is a violent brute who doesn’t know how to bring forward a cohesive message. Peace

Opinion: Mpuuga is now the second coming of Mao

“Mathias Mpuuga, the leader of the Democratic Alliance, has written to the National Resistance Movement (NRM) leadership seeking an opportunity to discuss Uganda’s transition plan. Mpuuga has emphasized that the National Resistance Movement’s views cannot be overlooked in the talks, given its more than 30 years in power” (NTV Uganda, 17.12.2024).

Who knew that someone wanted to emulate and become Norbert Mao in 2024? Maybe the Ministry and a High Office is refreshing. Maybe the years of being the Leader of the Opposition and such has given him the envelopes he now misses. That’s why he wants to return into good graces and be at the table with the mighty.

Mpuuga MP who has become leader of his own entity after running on others parties platforms. Now his scheduled to run on his own and together with allies from the DP Bloc that has created the Democratic Alliance. The one that made the Holy Alliance fall apart.

That’s where Mpuuga is residing after falling out with the National Unity Platform and earlier leaving the Democratic Party. This man has fled and left nothing behind in the parties, which he was a part of. That happens because of his choices and lack of accountability for his own actions.

It is just amazing that his running on a similar platform and road of ideas as Norbert Mao. Mao who later signed an agreement and became a minister. That’s the road that Mpuuga has now. I cannot see any other path…

Mpuuga and an ally will dine with dignitaries and the President at the State House. Where they sign an agreement and a joint communique between the Democratic Alliance and the National Resistance Movement (NRM). That’s what is up coming and the future of Mpuuga.

The Transition Plan and the reforms are the lessons that Mao spoke of, but ditched when he got into office. There is no real substantial plan or sufficient tools to secure the future for the Republic. The ones believing in Mpuuga is naïve. When we have seen how Mao spoke openly and later has fallen short.

Mpuuga MP is showing how he is a pawn and a useful idiot of the rulers. That his in their bidding and trying to find ways of getting favours. Because his just working for them and being vocal to ensure further longevity of the NRM. The DA is just a front for him to eat and find measures of possibly get DA officials elected on his behalf. Therefore, it is just sad and tragic.

Mathias Mpuuga is a sorry excuse of a man. He is now becoming Norbert Mao, and I wonder if he can see it himself. Peace.

A look into Bobi Wine’s statement: “On Gen. Museveni’s Statement Justifying Military Trials of Civilians”

Civilians must be tried in civilian courts, regardless of the accusations leveled against them. The Constitution of Uganda and international human rights law are clear on this point: military courts are for military personnel, not civilians” (Bobi Wine, 14.12.2024).

After the delusional statement of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on his dense defence of the civilians tried in a General Court Martial. His defence was just bonkers and had little weight behind the reasoning to continue the practice. Alas, now the Party President of the Opposition Party, National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine released his public statement in response. This will be discussed and needs to be shed lights on. As the General Court Martials needs to be used to whip the enlisted or the soldiers who acts ill in-action, but not as a tool of oppression, which it is used for in this day and age.

Of course his statement comes at the backdrop of the citizens’ outcry and demand that the Supreme Court puts a final end to the trial of civilians in military courts. By issuing that statement, he is intimidating the court and certainly trying to influence their ruling- or trying to ensure that they do not deliver that ruling at all! In his desperate bid to cling to power, Museveni has made the military an instrument of oppression instead of defense. His claims that the kangaroo court martial system is about stabilizing the country are outright lies meant to mask his regime’s naked abuse of power and intimidate the people of Uganda into submission” (Bobi Wine, 14.12.2024).

Here the reality is addressed, the Opposition Leader is speaking his peace. The truth is shed light on and the means to an end. The Military Courts are there for one reason, but is used for another one. These are tools of oppression and put the people into submission. Everyone can see it and Bobi Wine only speaks facts here.

Bobi Wine continues:

Trying civilians in military courts is not only illegal—it is dangerous. It creates a system where no one is safe. Today, it is opposition political leaders and activists. Tomorrow, it could be you, your family, or your neighbor falling victim. This is not justice—it is oppression! The Museveni regime thrives on fear, lies, and division. But we, the people of Uganda, know the truth. We know that his kangaroo court martial is not about stabilizing the country but about stabilizing his grip on power. We must reject it” (Bobi Wine, 14.12.2024).

This is just who the authorities are and how the power is used in the Republic. The state of affairs is the usage of force and intimidation. That’s how the NRM and the President has been able to stay in power for so long. As people are fearing to speak out or demonstrate. As they rather go along on their business, instead of dying or being tortured for acting against the oppressors. That’s how a violent oppressive government is keeping the people at a choke-hold and calling it “peaceful”.

Bobi Wine drops words of wisdom right here:

We must reject the narrative that oppression and injustice are necessary for stability. True stability can only be achieved through upholding the rule of law, respecting human rights, and making a commitment to justice for all” (Bobi Wine, 14.12.2024).

This here is speaking out towards the ones that is accepting this nature of things and the status quo, as it is better with the devil you know versus the devil that is to come. It is better to support a friendly benevolent dictator, instead of a proper statesman in office. That’s the ones that is accepting the plight and suffering in the name of “stability”. This will sooner or later fail and people will revolt. Therefore, the idea of allowing injustice will sooner or later cause more harm. The usage of military court against civilians is just one of plenty of the things the NRM and Museveni does wrong towards its citizens. However, it is the hot-potato at the moment.

Bobi Wine spoke facts here and he acknowledge the bleak reality. A scenario and a state of affairs that needs to end. Nevertheless, as long as Museveni is in power. These sorts of practices will persist, as it is a gift that keeps on giving. These sorts of actions are keeping his administration alive and allowing him to reign supreme. That’s why the President and Commander-in-Chief will continue to use it and defend it. Peace.

My letter to Maj. Gen. Mugisha Muntu – “With more years on my back, I respect your ways even more”

Dear Sir,

Retired Major General Mugisha Muntu, the National Coordinator or Party President of the Alliance for National Transformation (ANT), I got to say. I got to say one thing. Your mellow, pragmatic ways are understandable, but also a path that takes forever to make change. That’s just a fact, but the reality we live in. I understand why you act like this and takes this approach.

I got to say, I respect it and the way you handle yourself in public. As a politician and a leader, your mannerisms and choices, I have to vouch for them. They aren’t revolutionary or shocking in any regard. You are standing on principle and on your grounds. That is something many others cannot say.

Mugisha Muntu my writings on you in the past has been reflective on how you distanced yourself from the Defiance Campaign and how you created own fraction from within in the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC). It was you against Besigye and that shouldn’t have happened. You both work towards the same goal, but has different visions of approaching it. I can see that you two are brothers of the same struggle, but just act with alternative measures to gain true liberation and freedom in the Republic.

This isn’t words I would written in my hay-day of 2014 to 2018. I know, but I see things with other eyes. Aging has a way of making you see and oversee events with new eyes. That’s why the pragmatic and well thought acts are one way of doing it. Even if it is a slow measure and reformation by hoping the wheels fall off. It is an understandable approach, as it doesn’t cost and won’t be a dangerous path.

Muntu has seen conflict, seen the cost of liberation and been part of the struggle. As a leader and as a opposition for decades. He knows what price people are paying for their actions. Muntu has seen the price people are paying, the pain and the suffering they are going through. Therefore, we can acknowledge why he works this way.

Mugisha Muntu will address the current affairs and drop knowledge. That he does when he is invited. He shows up in solidarity, even with people who has betrayed him and the cause his fighting. Because deep inside, he knows these people have just acted in their faith and with their conscience in their fight in the same struggle.

That’s why you should respect Muntu. Not because his a party leader, a former FDC leader and someone who turned on Museveni. We who has been vocal supporters of Besigye. Should reflect on how we went hard on Muntu. I can see that was a bit to harsh and out of loyalty towards another fellow leader in the struggle. That’s something I have acknowledge and say, as anything else would be insincere.

Muntu deserves credit, acknowledgement and praise for what he has done. Not that he has moved mountains, but he has shown how a man can carry himself and silently building on his own. He has done so without going against the ones who went after him and vilified him. Which was wrong and I take my blame for my part.

I cannot take the time back or change it, but I can in this moment say: “I was wrong and I’m sorry”. More people should do the same too. As we all mature and gets more years on our backs.

Muntu deserves to be honoured and get his flowers. Not only nice remarks when his gone. No, he should be saluted, and people should study how he operates. As a man of honour and candance.

Best Regards

The Writer of Minbane

Opinion: Museveni’s tone deaf defence of the civilians tried at Court Martial…

Indeed, Uganda and many parts of Africa were and, in some cases are still, disturbed by these unprincipled actors. This is why that law provided that since you became a “soldier,” albeit an illegal one, be tried by a court-martial because it is the one that deals with guns. Besides, the court martial courts’ system is a subordinate one to the general courts of the whole country. If the Court Martial judged badly, the superior courts will rectify the issue. The advantage is that, in the meantime, these dangerous actors are legally being fed, medically treated by the State and are kept away from harming people. It is also good for the lawbreakers because that dangerous enterprise of theirs of killing People, can lead to their own deaths in the encounters with peace and law─protection agencies” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni (12.12.2024).

Lord Have Mercy On Me. I need it and the sounds of the sweet tones of worship. Because this is just showing the fierceness and the vindictiveness of the totalitarian system of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The ones believing that His Excellency and Commander-in-Chief, the Head of State would be bothered or be really concerned about civilians tested in the Military Courts. His just proving defending it and being a supporter of it. This is the NRA or the NRM Way to a T. It is who the they are and they owning it too. The justification is just bonkers too.

If a man possess a gun or arms. Then you are justified to be tried in a Military Court. Anything in connection with ammunition or even fire-arms. Than you should expect to be tried by the army. Even when your a civilian and haven’t had any connection or any sort of time to enlisted or be an official cadet in the armed forces. That is what is happening here and these non-independent tribunals and military courts are obvious tools of suppression and usage of the monopoly of force by the state to apprehend, detain and convict the ones who are opposing their ways. Seriously, the old man takes people for fools.

Just continue to read his reasoning here!

Here, the focused and you could say dedicated court martials, do the preliminary work, release the obviously innocent and convict the guilty and sentence them. The convicted can appeal. In the meantime, the country is peaceful because the disturbers are State guests at Kitalya and other prisons. Should we have a Referendum on this issue? Why would lawyers not see what the ordinary mwanainchi sees? If we were to have Referendum in the affected districts neighbouring Karamoja on this issue, I am sure 100% would support the law” (Museveni, 12.12.2024).

The Court Martial haven’t been used at cattle-rustlers or such, but is known for being used against civilians, activists, political opponents and whatnot who are in opposition to the NRM. The Court Martial is a tool and an instrument of keeping people bound by law and pre-sentencing them indefinitely. Until the case goes cold and the state doesn’t care about the alleged criminal conspirators anymore. That’s what these courts are about and the usage of it.

Jesus, I’ve forgotten the words that You have spoken

Promises that burned within my heart have now grown dim

With a doubting heart I follow the paths of earthly wisdom

Forgive me for my unbelief

Renew the fire again” – Michael W. Smith – ‘Lord Have Mercy (2002).

It is hard to believe we are here. That we are seeing this unfold, but it is telling. This shows the heart and the lack of care. The sinister and vindictive ways of the system. When it is built like that and used in this manner. The High Above is praising it and wants it to be used. That’s what we are seeing. The defence of the matter is so scrupulous too. Like is it only the army that can deem the usage and the timing of using weaponry? Is that how it is the Republic?

That is foolery and everyone should know it. It is unacceptable and there should be other remedies. This isn’t the way of a civilized society to handle affairs. Neither is this respectable for the peers and civilians. Who are the ones who are getting subjected to this treatment, as they are forced into chambers and into trials or tribunals, which are just settled or behest with people who are ready to penalize you. As it is following chain of command and not necessarily independent by any measurement. Therefore, it is really showing the bleak side of the authorities and the government.

When the Head of State and the President since 1986 is writing these words. It is just showing where his mind is at and what his willing to do. Because this is one of his methods to stay in office and get the troublesome people away from his path. Peace.

Besigye behind bars for 52 days [on the 7th of January 2025] without proper trial as a civilian…

“Dr. Kizza Besigye and Hajj Obed Lutale have been remanded to Luzira Prison until Jan 7, 2025. This follows a delay in constituting their defence team after lead counsel Martha Karua was denied a practicing license by the Uganda Law Council” (Nexus Media, 11.12.2024).

You know the Makindye Military Court and the authorities have targeted the opposition leader and activist Dr. Kizza Besigye, as they kidnapped and apprehended him in Nairobi, Kenya. Yesterday it was official that he will go 52 days without a proper trial or produced in court. As a civilian tested and tried in a Court Martial.

Meanwhile, we aren’t hearing about witnesses, production of evidence or any proof of the alleged crimes or conspiracy to do so. No, the state is just busy blocking the representation of Besigye in the Court. Also, they are just remanding it and not actually doing it. The typical act of the courts under this Museveni era.

They are deferring cases, keeping them remanded for ages and never ever delivering anything sincere in the Courts. That is what is going on here, as the political gambit and works are reflected in it all. As the lawyers are barred from entering and such. This case just shows how the President is having a hold on every entity of the state.

Dr. Kizza Besigye is captured, apprehended and charged because of who he is, and the state manufactures criminal conspiracy easily. We have seen how many times they claim the opposition plans to blow up gas-stations and create riots in the Greater Kampala Metropolitan Region. That happens so often…

So, to believe the charges on the questionable gun-charges on him. Shows how the state works and elaborately tarnish any open dissent. Besigye is the nemesis that never left the realm of the state. A man who is vocal and has the ability to be relevant because of his message. A message the state wants to silence and doesn’t want people to react too. Therefore, it is so easy to make up a criminal prosecution and go after him.

We know this is made up charges and the misuse of power of the authorities. They are doing this because of the paranoia of the State House. The President cannot get over the enemy or his way of operating. This is why the President uses the Court Martial to prove his power. Alas, it shows how weak he is too. Because he has no validity or sincerity using it.

Besigye is a victim of his popularity and his way of manoeuvring. If Besigye was more silent and in the dark. He wouldn’t be touched, but since his in the spotlight and daring the state. That’s why they pick on him and pin him with crimes. Therefore, we are seeing it happening yet again. To a man that deserves better.

When he returns to the Court Martial over the new year’s…. He will be in custody for 52 days and counting. That just shows the impunity and misuse of law enforcement against a civilian. Besigye is a victim and should have his freedom. The guns and the allegations will be squashed, because they are fiction. Fiction deserves to be in books and not in Court documents. Peace.
