Opinion: Muhoozi wants people to rebel [as that is what his father is most known for…]

If your energy, determination and motivation are well oriented towards making this country better, Uganda will be unstoppable. Therefore, it is a challenge to the youth that a better country begins with you. We need to learn from the example of our current President who in his youth in 1960s started mobilising peasants in his home district to embrace modern methods of farming” – Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga (Felix Ainebyoona – ‘Kainerugaba tells youth to emulate Museveni¨ 30.11.2021, Daily Monitor Uganda).

The son of the President and His Excellency Yoweri Kaguta Museveni might think otherwise. However, Lt. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga might think differently about the legacy and what his father leaves behind. Muhoozi can deny it and stifle the conversation. However, this man will not be known for farming or his cattle, but his rebellion.

President Museveni will be known for the civil-war and his rebellious way. We know what Museveni did as a part of FRONASA and NRA. It is not like his known for being elected and having a peaceful transition of power. No, he is known for taking power with the guns and not over the ballot.

If people where to emulate or copy the legacy of Museveni. It would be defiant and be cunning behaviour. Where he would promise pledges of change, but continue with similar acts of what the past leaders did. While claiming to be about fundamental change or come with a new vision. Alas, that is clearly not what the son wants people to do.

Because, he wants them to be citizens and civilians who serve the needs of the Republic. The Third in Command of the Army doesn’t want people to start their own armed rebellion to get rid of Museveni. Neither, does he want someone to be as deceitful, as his father either. If so… he must be stupid and foolish.

Muhoozi wants it sound like his father is legendary. That is not strange either. As he wants the legacy of his father to be noble and honourable. No, matter how many skulls, skeletons and decomposed bodies his father has passed over to stay in office. Because, that is the mere reality. This is why so many was tricked and was caught slipping. They lost one moment and it was fatal. That is the sort of political game his father is known for and the son cannot rewrite that.

I am very sure that the Muhoozi don’t want people to emulate his father. That would be risky and would be defiant of how the National Resistance Movement cares for it’s rebels. They usually use an iron fist and ensure they turn into bootlickers again. Before they are allowed or able to return to the fold. Therefore, we know the state and the ones close association with Muhoozi. Don’t want anyone to rebel against the state or the President.

However, if people wants to follow his example. They need to drop out of the NRM and start an armed rebellion after a failed election. If not join the armed diaspora and overthrow a dictator with the help of a foreign adversary and other allies in the struggle. That’s the two ways to follow his example and become like him. If not they can be a minister with his own private army, which he also had at one point. Therefore, he has been stable with militarising everything and use it as a way to get power.

So, I doubt that Muhoozi wants people to do that either. I can be honest… because it is not his farming abilities or cattle keeping that he his known for. Neither is it cash-crop mannerism and the wealth creation aspects either. That is just part of his schemes to stay in-power and nothing else. We know he is a man of arms and rebellion. That’s what Museveni is … and who he become. Muhoozi cannot change that… Peace.

Opinion: Bobi Wine is getting the whole Besigye-Treatment [in Lira and Mbale]

These days we are seeing the former Presidential Candidate and Member of Parliament Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine, the National Unity Platform (NUP) leader is getting similar treatment to what Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) leader Dr. Kizza Besigye gotten over the years.

What happened at the radio station at Mbale and Lira is common practice. That the regional appointed bureaucratic goons are doing to the opposition. The Residential District Commanders (RDCs) and District Police Commanders (DPCs) are following direct orders to block people like Bobi Wine and Besigye. That is just part of their protocol and what they do.

It is not fair or justified, but it is the mere reality. What is happening in these towns and places. We have all seen before… it is just a new generational leader, which the old man is blocking from moving and speaking. While the same party and President will say his nothing to fear. Which is really ironic, if you didn’t fear the man. Why don’t let him speak and operate like anyone else?

No, we know the Police Force is more busy scheming and finding ways of pinning crimes on opposition leaders and activists, instead of catching thieves, murders and blue-collar criminals. That’s just the mere reality and the Uganda Police Force (UPF) is embedded in partisan politics. They are so beholden to the throne and his decrees. These folks aren’t there to serve the general public or the needs of the people. No, they are there to uphold the reign of their king and that’s it.

This is why Bobi Wine will be in trouble. It doesn’t matter if his up-north, in the east or west. He can be in central (Buganda) but that doesn’t matter either. If he wants to be on a radio in Mukono or Busoga. Just forget about it. Bobi Wine won’t get access and the state will find all sorts of excuses. However, the President and his men can go on radio-tour anytime they want. This is because this is his kingdom and everyone is his servants. That’s why he prefers to sit in a high chair and dole away money to begging citizens. This is what he has become and his proud of it too.

It is not shocking that there is arrests, tear-gas and blocked radio-stations. This is what the National Resistance Movement (NRM) does to it’s enemies. Because, the NRM got nothing to prove or nothing to give. They have only monopoly on violence … and that’s what gives it additional life. The NRM surges on violence and secures the levels of fear is living within the population. That is what the NRM saying by doing over the years. It is not because the NRM values the 10 point programme or any promises made over the years. Nah, these are just empty pleas and to make some headlines. Since, the NRM and the President cannot keep up with them or even have the funding for any of it.

That’s why any serious challenger has to be silenced and stopped in their tracks. This is why Bobi Wine is getting the Besigye treatment. Bobi Wine haven’t been detained or arrested in such a way yet. However, Bobi Wine doesn’t have the years that Besigye have in the trenches. Bobi Wine needs years to be able to hit the numbers of charges, days behind bars and pending treason charges too. Therefore, Bobi Wine is only at the beginning of it. Even with the heartache of aftermath of Arua By-Election.

Bobi Wine now tasting the bitter fruits of popularity and being the voice of reason. Which is in the Republic, a voice of Treason. That’s the just the way things are… and it’s tragic. Freedom is limited and justice is only for the chosen few. The rest is prey waiting to taken by the predator. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni’s 1966 lie [SONA21 quote]

Let all the leaders stop confusing people by sending contradictory or divergent messages. The NRM message ever since 1966 has been: all homesteads to join the money economy using ekibaro (cura, otita, aimar ─ profitability assessment) to guide their enterprise selection” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni from State of the Nation Address on the 4th June 2021

Well, this isn’t a shock, but President Museveni lies. Let’s make things clear. The National Resistance Army (NRA) was founded in 1981. Secondly, before that Museveni had launched a new political party before the 1980 General Election. That was the Uganda Patriotic Movement (UPM) and because of the failure of that party. He went to the bush and founded NRA/M.

Thirdly, as stated underneath here. We can see how his stances was personally in 1960s and there was no NRA/M at that time. He was a student in Tanzania. So, it would be difficult to be a capitalist and believe in the free-market. When you where kicked out of the UPC for your leftist tendencies. Also, Museveni was reading up on Marxism and even formed a forum to study it. So, how come he says the NRM has believed in capitalistic ideals since1966? Who can riddle me that?

This was written about Museveni in 1987:

Indeed, in 1964, just two years after the country’s independence, Museveni was fired from Premier Obote’s Uganda Peoples Congress (UPC) party, when UPC’s youth league (in which Museveni was an active member) was banned for advancing “leftist tendencies”. This anti-people move was not a surprise, for it was in Uganda where the first genuine and coherent critique of colonialism was made. The critique, not by an historian or political-scientist, but by a poet, the late Professor Okot p’Bitek, one of Africa’s greatest poets to emerge after World Warn, remains a solid 200-page epic poem called Song of Lawino. Around the same time, in 1966, Museveni joined the University of Dares Salaam where he played a progressive role as Chairman of the University Student African Revolutionary Front (USARF) a forum for the rigorous study of Marxism. In Dar es Salaam, he was greatly influenced by the peoples’ historian, revolutionary and scholar, the late Professor Walter Rodney, author of the famous How Europe Underdeveloped Africa. As leader of USARF, Museveni led a group of six revolutionary students on a month-long tour of the liberated areas of Mozambique in September, 1968” (UFAHAMU, A Journal of African Studies, 15(3) – ‘MUSEVENI, THE NEW GENERATION OF AFRICAN LEADERS AND THE STATE IN UGANDA’, 1987).

When you know this and read this. You can just see how easy it was to debunk this lie. The NRA/M wasn’t even existing at that time. That’s shows how he wants to manipulate and rewrite history. Just like he hopes these sorts of records stop to exist.

President Museveni didn’t preach Operation Wealth Creation in the 1960s. Just to further prove the bogus statement of the President yesterday, Dr. Ezra Suruma said this about the economic policy in 1986: “The thrust of its economic policy is a mixed economy in which government and the private sector are copartners in the development of Uganda .. Economic regulation is minimal while private initiative and public infrastructural construction proceed at a maximal pace ..” (Dr. Ezra Suruma – ‘UGANDA 1986: PROBLEMS AND PROSPECTS’ in Transafrica Forum, August-September 1986).

So, even in the beginning of the reign of Museveni it was a mixed economy. It wasn’t even then a fully capitalistic policies. So, the truth is reveal and the lie is so easy to expose at this point. Museveni should know better. He cannot even go back to 1966 with the NRA. Because, that is impossible. The ideals of now… wasn’t the deal back-then. So speak truth, you are lying and your bad at it. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni rehashing old ideas for yet another public address

Today, it’s a formality, a technicality of sorts, the State of the Nation address, which is the part of the protocol and Parliamentary Procedure. Therefore, this speech is scheduled and a fixed affair. However, President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni have been speaking to the public on the regular. It not like he will say anything new or sincere today.

Nobody expect a ground-breaking and earth-shattering revelation, which is of epic proportions. No, it will just be the run-of-the-mill speech, which could have been easily drafted before any other public gathering from this old man. There will be nothing substantial or game changing.

President Museveni will spew the same sort of rhetoric, same sort of fashionable play and praise his own achievements. Go back in age, have a historical lesson and even a few bible quotes. Then have a few left-field touches and grins, as the man cannot help himself. He will dig into a few bottlenecks and lack of integration. We know the drill.

That’s why using time to listen or even evaluate his speech is redundant. Its waisted energy. We have done it all before and the ploys are getting old. Just like the old man himself. It is recycling and rehashing the same things. There is nothing new under the sun, but this is just stating the obvious.

During the lockdown of yester-year, I had a Keeping up with Kaguta series on the speeches there. Without a shadow of a doubt. The speeches there in comparison to this wouldn’t far from each other. The only thing different is a few minor tweaks and what he needs to say, as per protocol of the State of the Nation. Therefore, to address it all or even look into it is benign.

Very few will listen, and even fewer will bother to read it. They know it is filled of obnoxious lies, deceit and deceptions, also exaggerations and personal brownie-points of good work done. Ensuring that he has done great since taking office in 1986. That the economy is strong, the military stronger and his dick can still create babies. Because, we have heard it all before and its old news. This isn’t even fake news, but old fossil fuel news, which could have been dropped a press release and we could have moved on swiftly.

President Museveni will come with same sort of claims, words and quotations, where he boosts his own ego and achievements. There will be nothing that is worthwhile or memorable. Unless, his coming with the Leopards Anus or speaking of truck-drivers finding wives. Because, we know his into those kinds of things. Maybe even pigs and other non-preferred insects, which is derogatory statements said about his enemies or “hoodlums”. The people he doesn’t want to be associated with.

Don’t be confused. There are no lessons here and only the same old story. Again for 2021. By Mr. 1986 and his junta government. Peace.

Opinion: The 27 guns vetted Museveni [Kadaga know this]

I want CEC to explain to me why Museveni is not subjected to the same. Why isn’t he also vetted? Nobody puts him under any vetting. He automatically qualifies and yet this is too undemocratic. Which kind of democracy is this?”Rebecca Kadaga (Emmanuel Busingye – ‘Kadaga to NRM CEC: Who vets Museveni?’ 19.05.2021, ekyooto.co.uk)

The two time speaker of Parliament Rebecca Kadaga have no suddenly questioned the vetting of President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni. The sole-candidate and automatic chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM). It is funny that she does this after skating through the General Election herself and following ordinary protocol of the NRM.

Kadaga knows perfectly well… that everyone else has to follow electoral stipulations, codes and regulations. The President, the High Above and the King over Kings. He doesn’t have too. That’s why the Electoral Commission can write a sentence or two, but never publicly drop his credentials for his education or anything else. While others can be sued and lose their seat over the same issues.

Kadaga has seen this and knows this very well. This isn’t a new issue. It is old and gotten old with all the elections happening every 5 years. Museveni is never touched and he never have to deliver anything. He can just do a walk-over and the due-process continues like always.

President Museveni is practically untouchable. His the Don of the Family, the one who has all power and everyone else is his court. Museveni is the king and the rest are his servants, one way or another. Kadaga should has seen this and it couldn’t be shocking to her.

It is just that entitlement and expectations are hitting the fan. She doesn’t like that she has to follow the party lines and be a loyal subject. While he can do whatever and doesn’t have worry about anything. That’s because everything is built around him. She might dislike that, but that is the mere fact in this.

Museveni has been allowed and ensured things are run this way. Everyone else is accountable to him, but his not accountable to anyone. He has been the master, the commander and the supreme leader without any question of authority. Kadaga maybe doesn’t abide by this, but she has played along these lines in her career.

Kadaga can be infuriated that her tenure and her role is fading. As Museveni is dealing with his petty politics and keeping his ducks in a row. We know that the only ones keeping Museveni to account was the 27 guns. It was the NRA getting him into power in 1986. Since then his been above it all and haven’t needed any help from anyone. His been the man and people have allowed him that.

It is the guns, the army, the police and the authorities that gives him power. It isn’t the likes of Kadaga or anyone else. They are just there to serve his wishes and be a loyal subject. She might hate that and dislike that she has to be accountable to the NRM CEC. However, she has accepted this so far, why are she blasting the system now? Is that because she’s worried that someone will muffle with the bag? That her pay-off will be less and she is accustomed to a favourable salary. Is that the reason for all of this?

Kadaga has been a token soldier in Parliament for years. It is seemingly a worry that she will fall and be just another MP. That’s why she acts like this. Even though she knows and we knows that it was only the NRA that have held Museveni accountable. The rest is just small players who entertains him within his spectrum of power. Peace.

Opinion: Do you expect an old man to save the youth?

I hate to say this… am not an ageist or anything. Usually, you age or career, the wisdom and the knowledge gotten over the years would be a positive. In most cases the wisdom of an elder is more valuable than the short-term gains of a quick pay-off. However, in this case it abundantly clear that this old man doesn’t care about the growing citizens or their needs.

This man in question in Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni. He will not dwell on that a second. Him and his allies will only care if their pockets are getting deeper or someone else is covering the bills. This man will not stand on the barricades for the ghettoes, the youths and the unemployed. No, he rather re-open the same factory and promise an industrial revolution. This man rather create white-elephants of food-processing or Juice-Factories across the Republic. Than actually do something sustainable.

Museveni have done the drill. He has dismantled commissions, national entities and he has profited. If not his allies have and they are loyal to him for it. They have misused ministries, tenders and created ghost enterprises. The whole charade will continue until his reign is over. The ones closely associated and “investors” will be pulled in by the grand corruption and the possible kickbacks. They will not be there for “development” or create a unique business. No, they are there because they know they will earn a quick buck without putting in the work. It is that is.

With that sort of regime and entitlement. With that sort modus operandi. Who thinks this man will save anyone else? He has let other die in his stead, but he has not come to the rescue of those who carried him at his weakest. This man have never returned a favour and only tried to compromise the ones he could get into the fold. He just want to ensure loyalty to him and not to further his supposed project.

No, this revolutionary was only in it for himself and used the “liberation” war as ploy to get wealth. He is fraud and fake with a lot of arms and fire-power. Not denying that and that what gives him the reign still. Not because he created a society or a policies which is fuelling hope. No, that boat have been sinking for years.

The state have delivered the same sort of monetary gains schemes, which is supposed to produce massive wealth and riches on the hustling economy. It is supposed to make farmers, cow-herders and charcoal salesmen into multi-millionaires within this method. However, there is little to no proof of this. Neither is many of these schemes are also supposed to secure the livelihoods and improve the cash-crops and profitable rural economy. This has been done with little to mediocre success. While the state has pushed similar things all along.

President Museveni will not save the youth and the unemployed. They are just useful tools to keep the oppression and keep the citizens hungry enough to worry about the next meal. Instead of wanting to fight or create a revolution to bring him down. This sort of play is also securing multi-national organization, the UN Organizations and others to cover from the misgivings of the state. So, that he doesn’t have to make proper and strong institutions to carry these things. The shortfall and lacks will be covered by aid, donor-funds or loans from IMF/WB/AfDB. That is just how things goes…

Museveni… will not save the youths as his ageing. He has less of reasons to care or even create real opportunities now. He has had 35 years to produce and haven’t done that until now. That train has left the station and now way it’s returning.

President Museveni promises to “Secure Your Future” and “Steady Progress” but he will not deliver either of this. Just like all the other promises. They are “hot air” and the up-coming generation, the previous ones and only a marginal elite have found some sort way to get promoted in this system. Just like the entitled few who has been anointed or was a part of the National Resistance Army (NRA). They are the ones who get the perks and the deals. The others get breadcrumbs, if they really that lucky even.

So don’t believe the hype… he will not be saviour but only be more sinister and more horrific as his gotten used to get away with murder. Peace.

7th Time the “charm”: The 12th May 2021 ceremony is no real celebration

What is happening today on the 12th May 2021 is the seventh ceremony of this one man. He is celebrating himself “winning” for the 7th time. They are saying his 6th Term, but I say it’s his 8th term because of the decade without any election, which should be counted as well. That is only fair to the general public who had to live through the “transitional” period with President Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni with no polls, election or awaiting a new Constitution.

He took power on the 26th January 1986 and he got sworn-in on the 29th January 1986. The 2nd time was after the “no” party election in 1996. When he was sworn-in on the 12th May 1996. The 3rd time started again on the 12th May 2001. The 4th time was on the 12th May 2006. The 5th time was on the 12th May 2011. The 6th Time was on the 12th May 2016 and now the final edition of this was in full effect.

That’s why this is his seventh time and it has been traditionally held at Kololo Independence Grounds. Which is happening today too. He has clearly scheduled the 12th May every five years since 1996. That is steady programming and the venue is the same too. The only difference is the guests and the year it’s happening in. The VIPs and the speeches might differ a little bit, but not much because its the same genie out of the bottle every time.

If you think this term will be any difference than before. You are out for a loss of words and proper conclusions. The National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the same President of the ages. Who never seems to get things done or able to fix his bottlenecks.

The same man who has said all the rights things, but that is all lies to keep himself in office. He knows perfectly well that he has betrayed those words and those policies too. This Presidency will not get better. It will only become more horrific and deprecating. There will be no nice silver-lining ahead. Only if you have some false hope that the oil money will be able to pay the rising debts. Than you are living on hope and not reality. As this President and his cronies eats everything else up and sends the bill to the next generation.

That is why you shouldn’t look forward or think he will make a difference. This man has produced fancy plans, policies and papers for development, but that can only happen if donors, aid organizations or multi-national organizations paying the bill of doing so. That’s why every piece of gravel or road is hugely overpriced to cover cronies and kickbacks for every single kilometre they cover. This will not … be better now and his been of the hook for so many years.

Just like with the militarization, impunity and anti-democratic actions, which is happening on the regular. Where the opposition and dissidents are hunted down. There is no wiggle room for their existence and the laws are applied to them. Sometimes on random and the state is detaining people without even charging them, abducting them and keeping them incommunicado. Therefore, this Presidency will not be better. He will only continue to unleash the beasts and drones to go after the ones who dares to support someone else than him.

So, today isn’t a day of celebration. It is a day of ceremonial burial of freedom, liberty and justice. The state and the President is celebrating a 1980 Election Victory, again!

He is repeating the same sins and not repenting anything. His just hoping its all water under the bridge. That we are supposed to forget all the lives taken so he can rule supreme. We are supposed forget all the lives kept without due process, the lives put on hold and the ones living in exile. That is all so one MAN can rule indefinitely. This is tragic, but the reality here. Peace.

Opinion: Museveni proves one thing “If you live by the gun … you will die by the gun too”

What is happening tomorrow on the 12th May 2021 is occurring because of what he did all the way to the 26th January 1986. That is the celebration of his “sixth” election victory. Though we all know he has used the same tricks as the ones toppled to stay in power. The elections are mirroring and copying the 1980 election, which was the reason for the civil war in the 1980s.

That is why it’s really special that the arrogance and entitlement of a big bash, 4,000 people at the Kololo Independence Grounds. In the end of a campaign and a year, which has made it nearly impossible for people to gather or campaign. Where the authorities have blocked rallies, campaign meetings, concerts and other public gatherings. Therefore, it is really a show of power to do it at this day.

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni came into power by the gun. He didn’t come in as the elected fella. No, he had to topple and get rid of his opponents. Museveni didn’t win people’s heart, but was able to destroy, hurt and harm the leadership of Kampala over years. That was done in a “liberation” war, which only freed him and anointed allies. The rest have to accept the idea of a limited freedom, liberty and justice. They just have to bite the dust and live with the impunity and injustice served on the daily. That’s because they are not part of the clientele and the cronies who serves the President well.

At this point and time we can give up the idea of a peaceful transition. The dreams of Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) and National Unity Platform (NUP) isn’t happening with Museveni. No, he came in with the guns and will only leave with them. There are only three avenues to his end and it’s not through the ballot-box. Any election held within the spectrum of Museveni will be rigged and an run in a manner, which will resemble the 1980 fiasco.

So, there are just three ways out. These are the first and the obvious one is that he has to die. Death. That means his heartbeat stops and his last breathe is finally done. The natural death of ageing… and it is inevitable. Everyone living will at one point die and then there will be a battle to fill the power vacuum. That will be horrific days and possible new atrocities, if not another military takeover for a “Transitional” Government supported for “stability” sake. Which is just a mere lie and will only prolong the agony of the citizens wanting a true civilian government.

The second is an assassination or a coup d’etat. Neither how this is happening. They have to go against the militarization of the Presidency and Government will make this hard. Unless, there is getting people disgruntled and feeling disfranchised by the regime. If the armed forces, security organizations and such feels they are taken care off. As if the state stops paying them off and starving them. Then they might turn on the President, but that is all just mere speculation at this point. This is ruling by the bullet and dying by the bullet. This is a General falling for another General. That is the ultimate betrayal, but is one way out… and will cause even a more totalitarian state. As it will be less forgiving as well.

The third solution is the revolution. That has been described by Dr. Kizza Besigye on many occasions. He has deliberately tried to spark this off. He has tried to get the people to revolt and demonstrate. The defiant man has tried to get people organized and boycott. Besigye have tried to educate the public on how the dismantle the system. Hurt it where it matters and get the feet on the ground. However, he has been close and shown that he could boost the public. Nevertheless, the politician and opposition couldn’t get it passed the finishing-line. He couldn’t get the state loose its strength and control. It was hurt, but not totally damaged and weak.

The defiance and walk to work was forceful, but lacked the final push to end the curse of the misrule and mismanaged state of Museveni. It couldn’t stop his oppression and his atrocities.

Museveni has lasted because of relations to the guns. His clinging to power to arms and security organizations. He has armed personnel and police officers ready on the go. There are people able and ready to kidnap, abduct, torture and get rid of his enemies. The state is doing this willingly to keep Museveni in power.

That is why Museveni will be a warlord and continue this life of never begging, but carrying a canon. This is why you either have to end it the way it started or show the force of the whole general public against him. The whole population have to rise onto levels like the Sudanese did to Omar Al-Bashir. That’s what is needed to be done to get rid of him. The will haven’t been there, but if it happens.

It will be like lightning and the thunder will hurt him. He will loose everything. Because, even a tyrant and a dictator cannot hold everyone captive. The Head of State cannot kill, arrest and abduct everyone. He can do that to a minority and to levels of society, but not to the ranks of cities, towns and whole districts standing up against the state. That is what needed and they need to stand-up. It will cost. Just like the ones who are already paying for their activism and trying to campaign against him. There are so many victims already and families scorn for decades, because one needed to rule for life.

Those guns and those weapons will only keep you there for so long. When he looses all momentum and there is hope for proper fundamental change of guards. That has never happened with Museveni. His still keeping lingering without anything like the peasants he “freed” in the 1980s. There is still so many educated people not getting jobs and so fourth. The state Museveni will leave behind will have plenty of the same misgivings as the ones he promised to fix. That says more about Museveni, than it says about the Republic itself. This is because of how he became the personification of the state and never let go. The “high above” and the one deciding people’s fate from the State House.

Museveni will not be remembered for freeing the people, but keeping them hostage, because of his powerful guns. Peace.

Opinion: Deo Akiiki, who is the new President?

“We, therefore, want to assure Ugandans that the country will be at peace as the new president is being sworn in” (Deo Akiiki, 10.05.2021).

Apparently, we are in for a shocker. As the opposition is either behind bars, house-arrested, abducted, kept incommunicado or tortured as well. The Defence Spokesperson Deo Akiiki is speaking out and promising a “new president” on the “d-day” or 12th May 2021.

Uganda has been waiting for a new President for ages. They have this one guy that never wants to leave office. The Republic has this one old man that seems to linger on forever. He seems to be busy burying his enemies. If not hoping he can compromise and corrupt the weak one among the opposition. That old man is the one who will have hold a massive ceremony again.

Still, Deo said this. He said it twice during his presser ahead of the Swearing-In.

The UPDF under the Joint Security architecture on national security has strengthened its support to civil authority as mandated by law in a bid to ensure that the country, the function of inauguration and swearing in of the new president is safe and secure for both nationals and international guests invited to grace the same” (Deo Akiiki, 10.05.2021).

We are all awaiting for the new president. There been several of candidates aiming for that since 1996, but none has been able to get there. The system, the authorities and the state itself have worked hard to make it impossible to happen. It is nearly impossible to even overturn or try to challenge a Presidential Election Petition. That’s because the state and the his handlers have made it nearly impossible to prove the rigging.

That’s why the people is awaiting a new president. Not rebranding the same old fella of 1986. He was new in the 1990s but we are 20 years from that even. Museveni isn’t new, but he has a new middle name since last election: Tibuhurwa. He always comes with a new name. That is why he has gone from Yoweri Musevei, to Yoweri Kaguta Museveni to the final Yoweri Tibuhurwa Kaguta Museveni.

So, with every name-change… his still the same man who overthrow his predecessors in the 26th January 1986 coup d’etat after a long civil war. Therefore, Deo is promising a new president. Which we will not see. Not after this D-Day… no no no …. it is just the same old fellow from around the way. Not a new breed or the hope of the future. No, just the same old same old man who is using the army and the guns to stay in power.

Because Museveni isn’t anything new. He is the status quo and the continuation of the same. There isn’t anything he can do at this point. The old man cannot reinvent himself. He can only continue to lie to himself and deceive the whole Republic. President Museveni will not make a fundamental change now. That time has passed and he will not reconsider that now.

Therefore, we are all wondering who is the new President? Because it’s not Museveni. Neither is it Besigye since wasn’t running in January 2021. Maybe he is initially saying Bobi Wine should be sworn-in, but then his going against his master. Deo is maybe thinking that Museveni is “new” because of his new term. However, Museveni is far from new.

I will end with Matthew 9:17: “Neither do people pour new wine into old wineskins. If they do, the skins will burst; the wine will run out and the wineskins will be ruined. No, they pour new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved” (New International Version).

The same can be said about Museveni. This lesson from the bible is relevant and maybe Deo should check it out too. Peace.
