Opinion: The fall of Evelyn Anite

She had it all, she was a golden child of the President, the former radio presenter from Koboko, who became the Youth Representative MP for the Northern Uganda in 2011 and became the incumbent winner in 2016. Evelyn Anite in her second term became also a State Minister for Investment & Privatization. Where she has now shown force, but maybe she’s aiming to high, a bit to fast.

That is why the recent months, she has both expressed pressure on the clean-up for ownership, audit of and transparency surrounding Uganda Telecom Limited (UTL). A company the government had sold to Libyan owners, but had to re-corporate and restructure after the fall of Gadaffi. Now, this has turned a bitter pill for the loyal subject and minister. She has lashed out and said the mafia is out after her.

Certainly, she has ruffed some feathers, she has questioned some big-men, which will not accept to be hassled with. Anite has with her quest to clear the slate of the UTL, she has surely gone into the hidden secrets within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and the government itself. Where she should have stayed away. As the ones who does that, is the likes of Muhammad Kirumira, Andrew Felix Kaweesi and so on.

They did all say similar things like Anite. They were on the rise and was also saying there would be a moment of silence, if you pushed the forces of power in the Republic. That is what Anite now is stating too. She calls it a mafia running the government, that means she is directly a part of racket herself. Meaning, it was cool, when she was a “made man” within it, until she crossed within the boundaries and codes within the mafia. This is what it seems, because, why else would she blast and rant like this in the public?

Anite is now going far, but sounding more like the opposition, than someone who is government. She could be mixed with Besigye or Bobi Wine in this matter. There is similarities in the usage of words. Because, the tale of going after the walking dead within the UTL is to costly. That the NRM doesn’t want to show the dark-side of the business and how its done. This is why, she suddenly shouldn’t continue to pursuit it.

Anite is therefore, receiving the hardship, which is usually intended on the dissidents and not the ones whose loyal to the projects of the President and his cronies. Evelyn though she was made and part of the inner-circle. Instead, she has crossed a path, which the NRM doesn’t accept. That is why Ante is in trouble and shouts out so loud.

Instead of winning, she’s continue to loose. Anite isn’t succeeding …. she is failing and not finding her way out of the trouble that she has put herself in. She could have let it all go, because this is more a ego-boost and to prove her place within the hierarchy.

She was a soldier, a loyal subject and a “made-man” but not one of them. An outsider, who got a big position. Now she is afraid of the enforcers, as the confidants and the consigliere advice behind closed chambers, maybe has aimed at her. Because, she broken a secret code and added pressure on something she shouldn’t have.

That is why she has fallen, why she’s trailing. She hasn’t resigned or even backed away from the mafia. She’s still there and trying to get through. But will she? Will she end up like others whose been taken out or is she another Abiriga in the waiting?

We don’t know, but she surely has fallen from the pedestal and is now a commoner with a fancy title. Peace.

Uganda Police Force: Police Refutes Claim of Spying on Opposition (19.08.2019)

Chief Justice Inaugurates Taskforce on Corruption (19.08.2019)

Opinion: Surveillance of the opposition is nothing new by Mzee

That the National Resistance Movement (NRM) and President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni have used many methods to continue to surveillance the ones in opposition. Not only all the notifications to the Police Force, when the Opposition parties are planning gatherings, meetings and rallies. This clearly shows that the state wants to follow and monitor them.

This is not the only tricks, the state have done what it could to hack into the gadgets of opposition leaders.

Like Privacy International reports: “In late 2011, officials of the Chieftaincy of Military Intelligence (CMI) and Uganda Police Force (UPF), acting on presidential orders, used an intrusion malware, short for malicious software, to infect the communications devices of key opposition leaders, media and establishment insiders. The secret operation was codenamed Fungua Macho (‘open your eyes’ in Swahili), according to documents acquired by Privacy International. The tool chosen as the ‘backbone’ of the operation, FinFisher, is intrusion malware that was at the time manufactured by the Gamma Group of companies, headquartered in the UK” (Privacy International, January 2019).

Clearly, the NRM has used this tactics before and could use it again. Through new forms and even other type of equipment. So, the idea that the NRM could use all sort of tactics of surveillance of the new People Power Movement and Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine. This has been written about in Wall Street Journal. However, the Chinese Embassy of Kampala has dismissed it.

Still, the Chinese company haven’t dismissed it, and secondly, the company has gotten into question for questionable usage of data in the past. Therefore, Huawei could have breach the privacy and done this to the rising star, Bobi Wine. They could do this on order combined with favourable deals with the Ugandan Government. None of which, sounds surprising, knowing the friendly relationship between the NRM and Beijing.

So, I am not shocked, as the NRM has even used other techniques in the past. Like putting in devices to monitor the movement of the car of Besigye. This they did during the campaigns of 2014/15. Therefore, that they could launch a new method to follow Bobi Wine wouldn’t be shocking.

We cannot be sure, but knowing how the NRM operate and uses all methods to breach the peace. They will initially find a way to monitor, surveillance and use their power to know everything. To take the data and connections, they will wire-tap or do whatever it take to gather intelligence on opposition leaders. That is what they do, if they have the opportunity.

They used Fungua Macho, they have used other since. To believe otherwise, would be naive and the usage of CMI, ISO, UPF and Office of the State House would be anticipated. Peace.

Opinion: Mwenda must be blind..

I don’t know, when he became a lost one. I don’t what happen or changed Andrew Mwenda, but surely at one point, he gave up and ate the whole plate served in-front of him. Sure, it was more flamboyant, than what he had ever been offered in opposition and as s sceptical human being. Now, his a defender of the indefensible and he continues to run on that path.

We know that his retaliating against the opposition, when his recent piece is named this: Inside Bobby Wine’s crass opportunism in Ziggy Wyne’s death”. That is the headline of the piece he wrote today, he didn’t even care to write Bobi Wine, but Bobby, like Ricky Bobby of Talladega Nights. That’s what’s has become of this man.

People Power is a movement without a cause except to grab power. It seeks so exploit the anger many Ugandans have at the state of affairs of in our country in order to gain power. But it has neither facts not a vision to justify its reckless pursuit of power. So its strategy is to deny all facts and insist that everything is subjective and relative; to dismiss all evidence as forged if it does not promote their political agenda; and to argue that every argument that seems to favor President Yoweri Museveni and his NRM is not based on conviction but has been paid for. It is interesting People Power resembles the Donald Trump movement in the USA although Americans who support it are anti Trump” (Mwenda, 14.08.2019).

We can clearly, see by this paragraph alone where Andrew stands on the issue. It isn’t rocket science, neither is it exceptional. As his rants against Defiance and Besigye will become legendary and age like old open cans of coke. You just know the fuzz, the sugar and the taste will dwindle. The same with this sort of rant is this.

“The aim of this strategy is obvious: bully everyone to believe change is urgently needed to rescue Uganda from catastrophe. They don’t want people to question the change they propose or ask for their alternative policies or even question their intolerant behavior. To question their lack of policy alternatives and the crudeness of their methods is evidence of having been bribed by Museveni” (Mwenda, 14.08.2019).

We shouldn’t even be bothered with the assertions here, as they are like a leaf on the wind. Like he doesn’t the lack of policy, the lack of guidance and even moves ahead from Museveni himself. As, he even needs the Youths of Mbabazi to move forward. The ironies of this statement is so many, plenty even. Mwenda thinks he can turn this around. Since, he knows how Museveni operates and therefore, it is without a doubt he tries to make the new movement looking silly.

Yet Defiance and its bastard child, People Power, have failed to subdue the spirit of our nation. Increasingly many journalists like Canary and many others are finding the courage to stand up for the truths and defend it against this demented cult. The story of Ziggy Wine is one such example. These are the journalists who have chosen to swim against the tide of popular rhetoric and self-righteous indignation common among sections of our society today. They have chosen to defend right when it is miscalled wrong, to fight vices such us intolerance, radical extremism, blackmail, slander etc. that are presented to us as virtues” (Mwenda, 14.08.2019).

Well, he had to take a torch against his arch-nemesis, the defiance campaign and Besigye, because he seems to think the People Power Movement is kid of these actions. They might be inspired, they are even working together towards the same goal. A peaceful transition post-Museveni. We know, that Mwenda see this as a radical idea, because he cannot eat as plenty post-Museveni. Unless, he defer from his stances and tries look more objectively.

Mwenda wants the public to eat of the hand of the government. The hand of the government, that has changed a story and not come forward with binding evidence or even proof of its allegations. That is also questioned by the family of Ziggy Wine himself, the friend and artist, who worked together with Bobi Wine. It seems like Andrew trying to split this and not even considering anything else, than the handpicked assertions put forward, because that cleans the hands of the NRM.

That he calls People Power a bastard and a demented cult. Says more about his own place in the Movement and behind the chambers of Museveni. As he has to undermine and excel utter negligence of the Sole Candidacy and One Man with a Vision narrative of the NRM. Which he so strongly stand by at this point. The words and the rhetoric of this man, shows that his so obsessed defending Museveni and his ways. That he even forgets how the one-man show and self-styled President for life, expect loyalty and to follow his vision. That he is so blind and forgetful. It is a mystery, that he could even see the keyboard, when he was typing his article.

Nevertheless, enough of this nonsense. What a about a cup of tea? Peace.

[Disclaimer] 68% needs to wake up in the Republic, apparently!

“In order to produce something you need four things; land which is a natural resource, labour which we have in plenty, capital money and entrepreneurship, the spectacles to see where the opportunity is and turn it into profit. You can’t have 68% of the homesteads (eating what they produce) and you think you’re an economist. You’re just a total failure. Infant mortality rate, how many children are dying when they are still young? Why are they dying? Because they have problems, mainly because of problems of having no money. What does it mean that 68% of the homesteads are outside the money economy? We have a few modern farmers who are part of the 32% and other entrepreneurs. Those will continue but let us wake up this 68%.” Museveni said” (URN – ‘68% of Ugandans are poor because of sleeping – Museveni’ 12.08.2019).

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni have just ended his campaign and Wealth Creation Tour after a few months of steadily traveling across the Republic. In the final days of this he was a part of Investment Symposium 2019 in Arua.

What his saying isn’t new, he has used this message before, that the public is lazy, that they are not working hard enough. That they are not as hardworking and smart working like himself. Because, everyone should aim for being the photo-copy of the President. That is how you move ahead in the Republic.

That this is an insulting message from someone who had 33 years to make a difference. For someone who has had three decades to change the institutions, state owned enterprises and organisations run by state.

If the President really worked for this, strived to make the finances good and economy booming. He would have delivered that already. His party has reigned supreme, had the majority of Parliament, had a One-Party state for a decade as well. So, if someone should have the ability to get his vision through, it should have been him.

However, spoiler alert. His been working for himself and his wealth. Not the wealth of the public, his using the state as racket. That is why the state gets into debt, while himself and his family is running successful businesses. This is the mere reality, a reality he doesn’t touch. As well, as the open laisses faire approach, while only partial subsidizing whatever defunct enterprise that is in the wind.

President Museveni can put the blame on the public. If not he will blame the opposition, the lazy bureaucrats or anyone who doesn’t cut it. Because, that is something this man does. Right now he blames the majority of the public. However, he has had 33 years to wake them up and get into the economy. Still, its not like his succeeded or even tried, except with schemes that the Kitchen cabinet have earned funds from.

Therefore, maybe just maybe, Mr. President its your failure, its your lack of policy and will, which is the reason for the people sleepwalking to their inevitable death. You could have done something, but you didn’t, that’s the fact. Peace.

My 2 Cents: On Mzee’s final lecture from the OWC Tour!

Well, I am sure we should break down the whole speech, the whole history lesson and look into the madness, the repetitive and usage of facts that is President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni in 2019. As the National Resistance Movement (NRM) had the Sole Candidate Endorsement trip across the republic. Since, he needed to show relevance, as his opposition is growing in strength, because of the tiredness of the captivity of the NRA/NRM leadership in the republic.

However, he still has to show relevance, by addressing the colonial time, Idi Amin and even his basic structures. Like he has never written or spoken about it before. It is time for this man to retire either to one of his farms as a cattle keeper or become a honorary history lecture at Makerere University. Because, that suits him more than governing at this point.

Nevertheless, let me drop a few snippets of his recent letter, before addressing it!

First Paragraph:

Therefore, the Ugandan economy is one of the fastest growing in the World on account of the NRA/UPDF ensuring peace, the NRM ensuring reconciliation and democratic empowerment of the Ugandans, the NRM ensuring macro-economic stability as well as the NRM ensuring some limited infrastructure rehabilitation and development. It would have grown faster if the 6th Parliament had not delayed the construction of Bujagali dam and if we did not have corrupt actors asking for bribes before delivering services or those corrupt officials doing shoddy jobs and inflating costs. The corruption issue, however, is a software issue and not a hardware one. Given our transparent democratic system, the corrupt always get exposed and, on account of our massive educational system, nobody is indispensable” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni – ‘Comment on my just concluded wealth creation countrywide tour’ 06.08.2019).

Second Paragraph:

How do the 68% move forward, following the present campaign? My answer is that there are already four funds for Wealth and Job creation. These are: the Operation Wealth Creation (OWC) Fund; the Women Fund; the Youth Fund; the Micro-finance fund and the Innovation Fund. This is a total of Shs437.2bn. This money has been there every year, in some cases, even since the year 2001 as NAADS money. The complaints are now that, this money is given to the ones “who already have”. The have-nots do not get. It is the “haves” that access this support. This cannot be a big problem. The big issue is that the money is there. If the routes through which it is passing have a problem, then we shall get better routes” (Yoweri Kaguta Museveni – ‘Comment on my just concluded wealth creation countrywide tour’ 06.08.2019).

The President does what he does best. Complain about others and saying they are indispensable. But when is himself so indispensable himself? As everyone else can be changed but not himself? How about that, Mr. Sole Candidate since 1986?

Well, that was the cheap and easy shots at the President and his own reasoning. Let me dig a bit deeper. As when concerning Bujagali dam, the European Investment Bank and the EU didn’t want to invest in the dam. There was even sent a complain to the EIB in 2009, but the EU said the project didn’t meet its standard for substantial development goals in such investment project. Still, the government pushed for it and even needed refinancing of it 2017. Surely, the expensive project has been a prestige project for the President, while putting blame to other leaders. That is what he does, instead of questioning, why foreigners didn’t want to invest in it in the first place.

Lastly, the Ugandan version of democracy isn’t that democratic, as there is no level playing field. If your a true opposition you get pinned with charges and spend time in court, even tortured if your a true threat to the Presidency That is why, the rigging, voter tourism and pre-ticked ballots is a steady act of the democratic values of this regime. Therefore, if he believes in his words, his surely deluded.

The last part, which I won’t use much time on. But there has been a Parliament report on the OWC and the President haven’t followed any of the recommendation from it. Neither, has he ever criticised or critically said anything about Gen. Salim Selah. Well, his part of his family and his kin never does anything wrong. They are legends because of their bloodline. That is why everyone else is indispensable, but his own is not.

So, if the President was serious about changing the OWC, maybe he should look into how the OWC is run by Gen. Salim Selah. But don’t expect that. It is cardinal sin to ask for that.

Well, enough of this nonsense. Peace.

The Family of late Ziggy Wine: Press Release – False Investigation Report by Uganda Police and some Media Companies (10.08.2019)

Opinion: Ziggy Wine’s death is a playground for spinning a web of deceit!

In this instance, we urge all political actors who are using this incident for political leverage and propaganda, to refrain from doing so.

May the soul of Michael Alinda aka Ziggy Wine rest in eternal peace.

CP Fred Enanga

Press and Public Relations Officer

Uganda Police Force” (Uganda Police Force, 06.08.2019).

Well, if your telling a lie. Please make it so straight forward, so that the public cannot catch you up in a lie. That seems to be the story of Michael Kalinda aka Ziggy Wine. There are too many fault lines, that has to be shown. To show the magicians of spin, the Andrew Mwenda’s of the world and his ilk like his step-son Canary Mugume. That they should tell the same story and not switch it up.

First, use the right Boda-Boda. They used a wrong colour and with the wrong tags. If Ziggy Wine would drive it, it should be another one.

Secondly, not use one of the same witnesses as before. ASP Hellen Butoto has been the Police witness before, she was said to be a teacher, but apparently she’s a part of the police force. Surely, the other witnesses the state has produced that saw the same thing. Can clearly be put into question too, as the one big-shot in this investigation is a fire-ball in it self.

There are already enough things that put it into question as it is. There isn’t just mere speculation. It is that the family was barred from seeing Ziggy Wine in the hospital. That he was just delivered to the hospital without knowledge of what happened to him. There is alleged damage to his skull in a supposed accident. However, there is also words of losing of fingers and poking out an eye in a torture session done to Firebase Entertainment artist and part of the People Power Movement. This can clearly be true too.

Especially, since there is three different stories and so many factors mismatching. That the spin-doctors has lost their touch. As well, as the words of mouth, that the dying man himself is alleged to have said to his doctors that he was “Bankubye” meaning they have beaten me. This means something totally different than falling off and hitting his from a boda. Neither having an accident with others on a boda.

There are sisters, teacher (happening to be police officer) and so on. Telling different stories. While his death is still a mystery. Like a vanished plot. Where you can wonder if the CMI or anyone else did something. Now CP Fred Enaga and the spin-doctors of the regime tries to polish it. But clearly, they are not matching it.

What is special is that the reports, the post-mortem, the CCTV cameras nor been any accident pictures been leaked. Because, there been sudden witnesses telling different stories, produced eye-witnesses whose not coherent at all. Not even blood on the supposed scene of the accident. That just happen to be spotless, when Canary Mugume did his thing on live-air. Nevertheless, there are enough questions arising.

Why did he die? Who needed him dead? What motive is it to possibly kill him? Last, but not least, who earns on the spin of death of the musician connected to Bobi Wine?

Because there are enough questionable dots. I don’t have the answers, but the stories, the open details and the shown issues. Are putting enough into a questionable stage, making you suspicious, that there is more behind stories told. That there are something sinister going on and someone did something vicious to Ziggy. Since, the state, the state-sponsored media and the handlers of the state tries to wash this sin clean.

Just to finish this one off. To just make it even more rare. Is that Ziggy Wine was first admitted to Hope Clinic Kyebando on the 21st July 2019. Later transferred to Mulago admission number 471567/2019. The family was able to trace him on the 27th July 2019. Dr. Nsambya referred him to Mulago Neurological on the 30th July 2019. Than he later died on the 4th July 2019. Now were at the 7th August 2019 and the stories since haven’t made sense.

It doesn’t make sense to me. What we do know and what has happen is in a murky space. Where there is lacking dots, no matter what the spin-doctors are saying. That differs from the police reports even. Mwenda claims he didn’t eat his pills or take his medicine. Just like that is another smokescreen. If isn’t brain-damage from a boda accident, than its lack of medication so all angles are covered.

So, as I started, next time you lie to the public. Ensure that we cannot spin a web around it and catch you in it. Ensure its so facilitated, that the exhaust will not burn your fingers, your balls and your prefrontal cortex, which you need to function. As the public have seen, heard stories that doesn’t make sense.

Ziggy Wine died, by some means and the Police together with the state media seems to be busy covering it up. If not, why wouldn’t they have a story, evidence and the proof of it at once? Instead of keeping it to themselves and not unleashing to the public. As they are scrambling the stories and not connecting the dots. Peace.

Opinion: Must be boring to fight the same fight for over 3 decades and fail!

The NRM struggled to usher peace in the country. Peace ignited infrastructure development. The remaining task is wealth creation mobilisation at household level. A person with a reasonable piece of land is able to handle any agricultural practice” – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni on the 5th August 2019 in Bundibugyo district

If there is anyone who promotes steady progress, must see the last three months as free-fall and as a weakness. The Museveni Wealth Creation Tour, which needed billions upon billions extra paid for, as he opened municipal roads built on donor funds and other projects, which is minor. But big enough for photo-ops.

The President usually came with the same swagger and talking-points, its sort of the same statements, as the citizens will create wealth on small farming with the usage of the right cash-crops. This has been spread to all sorts of initiatives and state sponsored agricultural benefits. Not that they have worked and have failed, one after another. Just like it was meant to be, than the state launches another one battling rural poverty, another donor funded enterprise and gets seedlings, tractors and whatnot to Gulu/Lira. Two years later, the whole cooperation is dead and the President has to come a revive the dead.

This is happening again and again. He comes with small donations, some insignificant changes, promise challenging different. Blames leaders, the Residential District Commanders, the Opposition politicians and even some of the locals ones get caught in the blender too. Until it makes a badly tasting stew, that he serves with a little bit of ignorance of the actual needs. Because, if he had cared about that, the President would have served that a long time ago.

The state has enough schemes, Operation Wealth Creations, NAADs and SACCOs, but none of these is cutting the chase. They are just not up to it and it seems they are there to create a money laundering operation. Because, the state is never up to it and seems to be keen to deliver. They don’t have the needed expertise, the allocations in time or even ordering the right type of crop for the right soil/climate or historical production in that area. It seems something fails, neither the hook or by the crook.

Therefore, it must be boring to scream the same message, that he has spoken of for 3 decades, the message and the promise of greener pasture. The promise, that if you follow me and plant these green seeds, your will grow profits. You grandchildren will eat and they will be able to sell. But we have seen how the state functions.

As the state supported the Soroti Fruit Factory, however, the local farmers produced the right type of fruits, but the factory couldn’t handle the amount and the fruits got wasted. Therefore, the state cannot manage to deliver or even compensate the lost investments of the farmers. Still, he comes around like a King and promises golden roads to heaven. If you follows him.

The same message, that if you grow the right thing as he says, it will pay off. That is his way of fighting poverty. Not educating their kids, not enlighten them with knowledge or skills for the future. No, plant the right type of coffee or sorghum and vote the NRM. This is what the President has spoken of, again and again.

It must be so sad. So brilliantly waste of time. That he speaks of the same, promise the same deliverance from poverty. Pledges the same sort of stories and with the same punchline. And don’t see the foolishness of it. That he has failed, time and time again. The President has had 33 years to fix this. Still, he hasn’t achieved it. His fighting the same fight, as he started in the Bush.

Clearly, the President haven’t managed, haven’t been as visionary or carefully crafting the ministries, the districts, the sub-counties and the agricultural welfare, to be able to follow up, upon the message that he spread since the inception of the NRA. The man of the mustard seed, the man who could conclusively state all the ills of the leadership in Africa. Has clearly lost his touch, his supposed brilliance and uniqueness.

Since, he got to recycle, got to go in circle and never ever win. He has got to use the same methods, the same sort of fight and not winning. Surely, his failed and a giant failure. The peasants are still peasants, they are not middle-class, they cannot afford Benz’s and Lexus, they can barely afford millet and matooki. That is how it is. Utter total failure of policy, of implementation and revision of it.

That can be said, because his track-record says so. If it was working so well, why would he bring the same remedy and same message all-over again? Peace.
