Opinion: Bebe Cool the yellow snitch?

Temilade Openiyi aka Tems and Stanley Omah Didia aka Omah Lay was arrested on the 13th December after holding an concert on the 12th December 2020 in Kampala, Uganda. These two Nigerian artists was paid to perform and gotten clearances to be there. Clearly they had been vouched for and the whole concert happened without any problems. However, the after aftermath have been something else.

Where people rightfully so were saying these was the wrong people to arrest. They we’re taken to Katwe Police Station. Charged for breaching COVID-19 Guidelines and so on. These two artists did that, but initially that is the fault of the organizers and the authorities allowing it to happen in the first place. Not the ones performing on stage. They are just on stage and is allowed to perform.

That is why the aftermath is so important. The state did release the artists and drop their charges after the outrage. Also, after Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine used his legal team to pressure the authorities for their release. While the state itself said it do so after diplomatic pressure. Lastly, one proud man Bebe Cool said he was working for their release.

However, the whole deal with Moses Ssali aka Bebe Cool has backfired. This time around his not getting away with his behaviour. The man of the President and a loyal cadre. Bebe Cool is a Yellow Influencer and a Ugandan artist. Who knows enough people in Kampala to get things done.

Now, last night on Twitter one of the artist set the record straight. Tems spoke out calling Bebe Cool out for his behaviour. The man was said to have called the police on them. Sitting and chilling with the police officers while they we’re arrested. That you we’re following the police all around and even bribed yourself to get the release documents. So, it could look like you had anything to do with the release. Which apparently you didn’t.

Bebe Cool even stated on Social Media on 14th December this: I called for this concert to be stopped and the authorities did not do so then. Damage has been done but we can avoid more damage. Free the artists and blame the organisers” (Bebe Cool, 14th December 2020).

Bebe Cool is claimed to have snitched, that he ratted them out and called the police on them. And after it happen. He wanted the glory for freeing them. That shows a deceiving man. The artist shows his play for the facade and how he wants to play games. Get headlines and credit, but how he also made it happen to Tems and Omah Lay. He was willing to get them detained. To later get the flash of “freeing” them. When he only did one and not the other.

What is also striking is the allegation that the manager of Tems states, which says Bebe Cool called the Press and was there on the release to take the glory. Even downplaying the Nigerian music and such too them as well. That it wasn’t that big and such in their face after the release. That says a lot about his ego and his manners.

They knew how he acted around the police officers and stated it clearly. The know about enough things and how it went down. You even went out and tried to stop it. Because the concert hurt the local music industry and yourself. However, if Bebe Cool did call and hang out with the police officers in and around the Nigerian artists. He has clearly went out of step and deserves to be blasted online.

His the yellow rat, the yellow tattle-tale and the one who used his suction and influence in the Republic to get these folks arrested. Maybe as a signal.. this is my domain and I’m the one you need support of to perform. I wouldn’t be shocked if Bebe Cool thought that high and mighty of himself. Even though his used by the authorities to give away t-shirts and door-to-door mission. Performing at rallies and not his own concerts. That need political support to get a life and his deeply engrained in the Presidency. In such a manner, which his career now depend on it.

Bebe Cool has lost one now. This is much bigger than the lack of confidence in the man. We know his stooge and a apologist of the dictatorship. That is who Bebe Cool is.. and the world should know. So a person like that selling out other artists for loyalty would make sense. It would make perfect sense, as he does the authorities well and could easily have a blast with them. While the Nigerians was behind bars. That seems fitting. Not like Bebe Cool have cried out loud when others been detained or gotten injustice in the Republic. His only cried havoc when they threw bottles on stage.

Tems and the manager exposed the man. Showed a very devious side of Bebe Cool. Which shouldn’t be surprising. His hanging around the NRM and see how they operate. Now he tried to play their game, but he did it with people who has platform and can blast him in-front of the whole continent. Not just some up-county artist he can screw over. No, this became much bigger and the headlines in outlets says so.

Bebe Cool isn’t addressing it. Because him and his team knows he loosing on it. That is why his downplaying and not reacting to it. Even though he knows that he did wrong. If he didn’t he wouldn’t be this defensive and not utter a single word or statement. Peace.

Opinion: The unfortunate arrest of Omah Lay & Tems…

The Nigerian trio of Stanley Omah Didia alias Omah Lay, Temilade Openyi alias Tems and Muyiwa Awomiyi have been charged to court in Makindye on charges of Negligently doing acts likely to spread an infectious diseases C/S 171 of the Penal Code Act. The earlier plans of releasing them on police bond, were suspended after their casefile was sanctioned by the Office of the DPP.  They were jointly charged with four other Ugandans. All remanded till Wednesday 16.12.2020” (Uganda Police Force, 14.12.2020).

In the nation of Yellow, the Republic of President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni. The republic where there is one law for the National Resistance Movement and another one for the opposition. The Nigerian artist Omah Lay, Tems and others have been arrested after performing on Saturday 12th December 2020 in Kampala.

That is not shocking knowing the UPF and how the police operates in Uganda. This is how they do. However, these are the fall guys. Yes, by the standards during the pandemic. This is wrong and nobody else have been allowed to perform. No other artists have been able to perform on other venues than NTV and NBS in the weekends. All concerts have been closed off due to COVID-19 or Coronavirus.

However, still it’s not directly to blame Omah Lay or Tems either. These are hired acts to a venue. Yes, they have arrested the manager of the venue and others. However, the Police hasn’t investigated who gave the visa, who accepted the performance and who made the paperwork happened. If the paperwork wasn’t in order and the pay-off to the artists wasn’t in place. They wouldn’t have taken the flight and performed in the first place.

That is why it’s understandable for a PR perspective to arrest the “big-men” and the ones on stage. Nevertheless, the ones arranging, the one managing and the ones vouching for them legally should be questioned. The ones giving a “Go” sign and allowing it. As there was no tear-gas, no disruptive police officers or issues at the venue. Other than a packed crowd. Just like it is these days at NRM campaign venues and on the streets when the President passes by.

Therefore, the arrest in that way is hypocritical. If your afraid of the spread. Why are you doing it at your own venues and on the campaign trail? What the big whoop about a concert? When you have processions, gatherings and even Zoom meetings with 300 people in one room? Please do tell!

In this regard, the foreign artists are targets and the fall people. There been people allowing it to happen in peace. However, the aftermath and the viral explosion of pictures led to the arrests. The reaction, because someone understood they did a boo-boo. However, the Nigerian artists didn’t do the wrong thing directly. Yes, they shouldn’t have performed, but neither should anyone have allowed either.

It is very simple, but is still so hectic. This case seems like someone trying to make a point. Where the foreign artists gets all the blame. They were paid to entertain and they did. Someone opened the gates, put up the lights and said “go”. Not like that didn’t happen without any government institutions said “yes” and made it happen. It is all connected, but those folks that vouched for it and gave it a go ahead. Is silent, because they know they messed up and it’s easier for these strangers and aliens to take the blame. Peace.

Uganda: Omah Lay arrested in Katwe, but the ones allowing the concert should be investigated!

UPDATE: Nigerian artiste Omah Lay, has been arrested by Katwe Police alongside the manager of the venue one Ivan Ddungu and the events manager Prim Kasana, Kampala Metropolitan Police Deputy Spokesperson Luke Oweyesigyire says” (Daily Monitor, 13.12.2020).

Last night Nigerian artist Omah Lay and others held a Concert in Kampala, Uganda. For some strange reasons this went under the radar and was able to perform without any hurdles or issues. All day yesterday social media was furious that a foreigner and his team could perform while Ugandan artists cannot perform at all.

The Presidential Guidelines, the SOPs and COVID-19 regulations have stopped concerts all year. This seemed like hypocrisy and a stunt. What is more striking that the day after the events. The authorities are going after the culprits and the ones arranging it. Instead of looking into the people who made it happen.

The Nigerian artist and his team needed a go sign, the venue needed to register and get a “yes”. These two have to work in tandem. The artists and the team around them worked with the local venue, authorities and whatnot to make it happened. As he has travelled from Nigeria to perform in Uganda.

That is why its dumb to arrest Omah Lay and the ones surrounding him. The investigation should go into the ones who approved it and who profited from the event. Not go after the main artist. Yes, I understand the arrest of Ivan and Prim. They have some handling of the events that transpired. However, these two also got a thumbs up and acted accordingly.

This here is foolishness at best. The Police should investigate who made it happen and then charge with evidence. To prove the possible breaches of guidelines and regulations in concern of the spread of COVID-19. Not just take a clean sweep and think this is it.

This will only cause heartache and outrage. As Omah Lay is only an artist who is booked to a cleared venue and performed. His not the guy to blame here. Yes, he shouldn’t have been there and performed. As any local artists cannot do it and it’s illegal at the moment. However, it is not his fault. This is the lack of control or safeguards, as someone has made it possible and that is not the venue’s fault either. They have most likely gotten a yes and that’s why it all happened in peace. That’s why there was no tear-gas, no disruptive police interference or havoc at the concert. No, it was all cool 24 hours ago.

Well, this is foolish. It is not the right act. They are pinning the wrong people and not looking into the indifference of the ones sanctioning it and profiting from it. There was someone who allowed it and made it happen. These are not behind bars or answering for the concert. That is what is needed. Peace.
