Gambia: ECOWAS want’s to swear-in the President-Elect Barrow tomorrow and also cease Jammeh’s mandate with force if he doesn’t leave!

president-jammeh

We will go into a special situation in Gambia, as the ECOWAS (Economic Community Of West African States) have stationed troops in a joint operation from the West African Co-Operative of Nations. These have sent their forces and armies to Senegal as it borders to Gambia. The nation that had an election in the November 2016, where President-Elect Adama Barrow who won the election, Barrow we’re declared on the 2nd of December.

Aftermath of the time after the election is that President Yayha Jammeh has said he apparently didn’t want to leave office.  Therefore the have been high esteemed visitors from ECOWAS, Communiques from African Union and others who hasn’t accepted that Jammeh want to overstay his mandate after losing an election. The Army has said their behind Jammeh, while many officials and ministers has resigned and fled to Senegal.

Just of yesterday the President Jammeh stated a ‘State of Emergency’ as the loyalist are staying behind him and the ones who wants him to linger in power. There are many other who feels he has done his duty over 2 decades, this happen after his bloodless coup d’état in 1994.  Jammeh has with the latest order can postpone the transition to an administration of Barrow.

So Jammeh is in a long line of executives doing what they can to overstay. This has happen during the recent years and with all sorts of means. If so, being for instance Museveni in Uganda, Nkurunziza in Burundi and now also Kabila in the DRC. Jammeh is just pulling the trick after a lost election and using his knowledge of the army where he came from and the national assembly to continue to reign.

The ECOWAS is making the difference as the fleeing leadership and resigning ministers in the cabinet of Jammeh, proves that his time is up. If they are meaning business, as the ECOWAS has stated that the Barrow will be officiated or sworn-in as President of Gambia tomorrow.

The reports are that troops from Mali, Togo, Ghana, Nigeria and Senegal are in Senegal to prepare to invade Gambia if their executive doesn’t stepdown. Ghana and Nigeria have themselves committed 200 troops to the effort. Nigeria has even pulled their Nigerian Air Force close to the border.

senegal-nigeria-army-gambia-invasion-18-01-2017

Like this:

The Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has deployed to Senegal as part of Nigerian contingent of Economic Community of West African States Military Intervention in Gambia (ECOMIG) – a standby force tasked by ECOWAS Heads of State to enforce the December 1, 2016 election mandate in the The Gambia. The NAF today moved a contingent of 200 men and air assets comprising fighter jets, transport aircraft, Light Utility Helicopter as well as Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance aircraft to Dakar from where it is expected to operate into Gambia. The deployment is also to forestall hostilities or breakdown of law and order that may result from the current political impasse in The Gambia” (Shewesky Media, 18.01.2017)

Other numbers from the ECOWAs is 530 from Senegal, 600 from Ghana, 100 from Sierra Leone and 1,000 Nigerians. Also 200 soldiers in total from France, United Kingdom and Germany as well! In this joint operations there are also reported to have 30 Fighter Jets and 300 B2 Fighters to ensure the surrendering of Jammeh in Gambia.

That is unique and special in our time that ECOWAS an foreign force will invade so the Republic will actually respect its current and declared winner of the nearly month old Presidential election. Jammeh has already claimed during December that no army can beat his, his Gambian army. So he will not back-down from a showdown. ECOWAS proves their behind their words when the stable an army in such quick way and put them on the border to Gambia. This in the same week as the Kingdom of Morocco has already offered Jammeh a “golden retirement”, but big-men like him only leaves when they have too. Even Napoleon had to return and create havoc in Europe. The same could Jammeh be capable of as he went from being a Lieutenant to become a President.

Jammeh, is really in trouble as hackers have even hacked the State House web-page and switched Barrow to be President on it. As he is sitting in the Palace or whatnot planning and wondering how the ECOWAS will strike him. Surely he could be paranoid in Banjul, as many loyal cadres in the cabinet have resigned of late, because of fear within and they will not stand beside a man who doesn’t have the mandate for a new term.

There reports in Banjul that soldiers have left their arms, as the reports of the ECOWAS army beside their border. The soldiers are actually deserters from the army as there are even circulated uniforms in the streets. That is happening as the Jammeh family itself flees the capital.

So the reality is that ECOWAS is intervening in way we haven’t seen, a collective quick effort to oust an illegitimate president from power. As an answer to the lingering reign of one man in one Republic, The Gambia deserves better and they should get their righteous Executive. Though it shouldn’t be needed to the Joint Military Operation in Gambia isn’t a wishful ceasing of Jammeh’s mandate. Well, then Jammeh hasn’t been the most steady character or leader. So these acts would be seen as reasonable for him. Jammeh has for instance said he would step-down to back-down from it in under a week’s time.

Jammeh, is truly out of time and the ones that will lose their lives are innocent Gambians, Gambians who lose economic future and businesses hit by the lacking of tourism while the crisis lingers. Also these soldiers from the international community who loses valuable soldiers to get rid of an executive who doesn’t want to leave his office.

ECOWAS shouldn’t need this, but maybe the one who takes power with the gun, only will leave when bigger guns are put to his face. Therefore the warships, fighter-jets and battalions in Senegal from dozens of nations might help to give sufficient pressure of a power-hungry individual. The Gambia and the Republic deserves somebody who they wanted to lead. Now they have a man who is trespassing. President Jammeh is now using his time in office to try to trade more time. Seems like the ECOWAS acts on behalf of the citizens and if the reports from Banjul are true, than the soldiers have been dropping their guns. That will ease the loses and the tactical drama of the besieging Jammeh. We will only know when the reports keep piling in. Peace.

Our brave New World Order… Is too leave the ICC

niccolo-machiavelli-quotes-5

“Why is UN not paying much attention to member states that are clearly sliding into turmoil and crisis and instead is majorly involved in the after effects of Humanitarian assistance. It doesn’t make sense. We can’t wait until it’s too.”Francis Mwijukye [35th Inter Parliamentary Union- Geneva: High level United Nations Management committee Meeting on Development assistance, Humanitarian assistance, peace keeping operations and Mormative treaty related knowledge, 26.10.2016]

We are living in a brave new world where the world order is switching… its twists and turns, the morning dew disappears and the sun kisses the earth yet again. The last few days the world has changed. Because Nations and States have made decisions that matters; they are not only talking, but now they are acting on it.

The International Criminal Court (ICC) of The Hague is under fire. After Burundi, South Africa and Gambia are thinking of pulling out of the International Court that access the genocides and crimes against humanity.

With the escalated conflicts, the stories of lives doing whatever they can flee nations, this is happening from the internal conflict inside Burundi, Burundians refugees are now in Tanzania, Rwanda and in the Democratic Republic of Congo. This because the President Pierre Nkurunziza decided to stay in power for a third term; when the Constitution of Burundi said the Executive only could have two!

displaced-families-wait-for-health-care-assistance-at-the-un-protected-site-in-wau-photo_iom_mohamm

The same with the internal fighting between SPLM/A VS. SPLM/A-IO in South Sudan; where there is battle of power between President Salva Kiir and former FVP Dr. Riek Machar. Because of the conflict in South Sudan the civilian refugees have fled to Democratic Republic of Congo, Uganda and Ethiopia. Now MONUSCO got SPLM/A-IO and Dr. Machar from the DRC to Khartoum earlier this year.

In Kenya this is happening: while the Somali Refugees are now being sent home from Kenya under the command of the government there. This happening while opposition in all of the countries mentioned has optionally torturing, arresting, detaining and even harassing them if needed be. The Kenyan Government using the fear of Al-Shabaab to send the refugees away and also hustle more donor-funding from the United States. That happens because the Jubilee apparently didn’t’ earn enough coins on NYS, Eurobonds or whatever scheme they had in play at the time.

In this New World order that is arranged while the Government are using their Security Organizations to silence opposition. While the Nation with the African Union (AU) Headquarters and are the leader of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), the Ethiopian Government even uses helicopters, artillery and soldiers to kill civilians in the regions of Amhara and Oromo people. This is a Nation who has soldiers in Peacekeeping mission all around the Continent, but using all kind of force to oppress their own.

UN Burundi

So in this place and time with more totalitarian regimes, with more leaders not leaving offices and with less political freedom; the International Justice is winding down. The rule of law internationally right now is losing its power, while the United Nation’s negations and diplomatic missions like the Inter-Burundian Dialogue under former Tanzanian President Benjamin Mpaka hasn’t gone anywhere. While the dialogue between UN’s own Edem Kodjo hasn’t created anything resembling a General Election run by the CENI in the DRC. That is because President Joseph Kabila has no plan of leaving office without using force on his own. This is happening while the bloodshed continues in the Kivu’s, while the MONUSCO and FARDC watching it in silence. ADF-NALU and the Mayi-Mayi continues as well together with the Ex-FARDC Gen. Muhindo  Akili Mundos has also blood on his hands. This is happening while the Rwandan State still can export high-grade minerals that they cannot even produce or has mines to extract on their soil. This has been happening since the first war in the late 1990s.

So the New World Order is more of the same… the same kind of violence, the other change is the new brave leaders who defy the International Order. They don’t want to follow it when they feel it is unfair. United Nations (UN) might be next or the World Trade Organization (WTO) or the World Health Organization (WHO). As they might respect the International Monetary Fund (IMF) or the World Bank (World Bank) because they need their financial stability or the financial stimulus that backs the budgets and aspects the government needs to pay their elites, businesses and whatever it takes to keep the regimes a-float.

This is the grand issues… the human rights violations, killings and detentions… so the Presidents and their Administrations are now afraid of the ICC. They are worried that their actions be served by the Court and they have to answer for their crimes. Doesn’t matter if this court exists or not; the UN should put up Tribunals after the Internal Conflicts like they done in the past. Than it is not direct prosecutions or charges that the ICC has put on Executives or any in the inner-circle of ruling regimes as they know their using illegal forces to silence their people and citizens. Though the feelings from African Nations that they are feeling threaten by the ICC and their actions as they are not going-in on Europeans or Americans in general, while African Generals and Politicians are hand-picked.

fatou-bensouda-quote

I’m just waiting for the honourable nations of Morocco, Mauritania, Egypt, Sudan, Somalia, Republic of Congo, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Swaziland, Togo, Guinea, and Equatorial Guinea, and so on… There are more that will make decisions to leave, as even Cote d’Ivoire might revoke their place.

There are fears on the horizon, the ICC is losing its standing, the international community better listen as the men who are greedy on power and resources take it in these days by any means and hope to get away with it, while their people suffer. The only differences at our time are that information is not forgotten or not told. It’s there for those who listen; time to consider and rethink the World Order and where we want to be. Peace.

Opinion: Silencing people for profits; Thank you Social Media Corporations for your Self-Censorship!

thank-you-for-smoking

“Senator Finistirre is still fighting for his causes:

Interviewer: What do you say to the people who claim you are destroying cinema classics?

Senator Finistirre: mmm, no. All we’re doing is using digital technology to tastefully update movies of the past… by removing cigarette” (Thank You For Smoking, 2005)

Today the madness is clear, it is vindicated as the Youtube and their affiliates have censored and taken away advertisement monies from their channels and direct videos added on their page. If they are not up to standard fitting certain advertisement companies and their agents who pick videos fitting the standards of the companies that need to sell their products. Surely the chocolate industry doesn’t want to connect to the videos addressing the Syrian violence. As much as Political inspired videos who are steering a conversation is not something to connect H&M to. Still, the conversation made by certain by these videos broadens the perspective and also adds to genuine interest for otherwise intelligent debate.

If we just want water-downed sexed out headline whores of Donald Trump, than the Colgate and Nike can use the ratings to spike their sales, but that does not extend the democracy or the discussion we might need.

The reality today is that the giant corporations are really steering the conversation with their decisions. In the recent days and also earlier this year Facebook also showed their true colours. As they have actually taken away pictures of the Vietnam War Photo as the Aftenposten in Norway have written about the Iconic Photo. This been taken down because the little girl is naked on the photo and that is disturbing for the Internet Service and the Social Media.

Facebook have before also even deleted WikiLeaks Democratic Party E-Mail leaks post on their page. Just the same has happen on Twitter as the sensitive picture of the Vietnam War for them as well. The Mark Zuckerberg really suck; to be frank Suckingberg is the proper name for now. Zuckerburg and Facebook! Facebook owns Youtube who has been addressed already for their clearance and political motivated advertisement ban on the videos.  I am sure they have deleted pictures on Instagram as they own that to, because the Gram can’t handle certain political MEME’s.

That all of these Social Media and Video Provider are their own businesses; they are free to do as they please, but still worrying as they are common networks for sharing information in the modern world. It is a reason why some become members to Facebook just to get invited to certain parties and social events as they are not sent through slow-mail and not even E-Mail. With this common knowledge the internet providers and Social Media power of Facebook and Youtube, can either be investor and advertisement friendly or like they are becoming a Censorship haven for Political Correctness and not for conversation. Because if an Iconic Photo from the Vietnam War becomes an issue and if videos with cursing and discussing not so humble topics; than the Youtube and Facebook can become the innocent little cry-baby that will not change discourse, but trade their soul to Kelloggs.

zuckerberg-kenya

Is that what Zukerberg want to do to M-Pesa as well, so it can become PC and act as tool for technical monopoly and control the internet companies? We can question that because it is interesting that the photos of old have to shade because of nudity. That is similar to the quote I started this piece with. Thank You For Smoking is social political satire, but it is happing in front of our eyes as entertainment usually mirroring the reality. That is what is happening now and the Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and other media are doing it. They just don’t know it.

They are doubled edged swords who cut themselves in the tail while suiting their suitors just like dictators pays of their media houses and their loyal elites to cling to power. The same ways does Facebook, Youtube and Twitter to fit the programme of H&M, Nestle and Unilever. That proves the capacity of indulgent media who trades their justice for a buck. Trade of their own freedoms to fit the marginalized boards and owner of multi-national corporations instead of the world citizens; than we can do two things!

First, we can buckle under and cry havoc over the misfortune of the corporate misgivings, the Zukerberg’s who wants to friends with Corporate buddies instead of us, the people. Or we can stop using their social medias and create own. That if we want it free, just as the other portefolios of the past of information has gone from being government censorship into the public. With the public and commons decisions the Media Houses and Entertainment companies had for instance accept that the people we’re taping music on cassettes instead of buying Hank Williams at the Gas Stations for long car-trips to the coast. I am sure they felt the same with the VHS where we captured and taped the magnificent stories of Lassie and Walt Disney Corporations; even if the Disney Corporation felt insulted as they didn’t earn enough cents on the dollar on The Great Mouse Detective (1986).

With this in mind, the people can as number two still use it, but sanction the companies that are behind the insulting censorships, meaning the corporations who are dropping advertisements on Facebook, Youtube and elsewhere. Because if their hit for inability to give the people ability to converse and to share their thoughts. The censorship show the access of free speech and trust between corporations and people are dwindling.

vintage-life-magazine-1968-july-12-starving-children-biafra-war-mexico-diners-e8c4f00148368d82f763446ffe23dfc1

The Media Houses have already been compromised by less budgets and less adverts as the Internet and free content on places like Social Media are stealing funding. As the tabloid click-based fuelled non-questionable content are spreading like wildfire.  Instead of the pictures like the back-in-day photo of Vietnam War who actually once upon the time changed discourse. That should say something about Political Correctness, the Advertisement friendly environment of Social Media and disillusioned Zuckerberg’s who in quests of getting dollars have forgotten a key aspect of the people. The people share their opinions, their pictures. Not all make sense to add like pornography or nude children per say. The reality is that the Vietnam War pictures showed the cruelty and massive assault on the fellow human beings. Would the same corporation have trouble with starving kids of Biafra as they wasn’t nude, but we’re describing malnutrition and adverse civil-war in Nigeria in the 1960s? A piece of me saying that wouldn’t care, would you?

This will not stop here as the giant corporations and their partly ownership of the Social Media will not stop here. Not now and not in the near future as the Ads and paid sponsorship of the corporations owning the Social Media need the fuel of money from the giant multi-national corporations and their standards. They want to be on the right side of them; so they can be feed and earn their money. Still, that does not mean we got to accept this blatant disregard for the past and for the present. There are difference between child-porn and iconic pictures. Something the Facebook should have ability to do and be able to correct. If not then they are not serious shop and having hired the right personnel to look over the content added on the page. A wise-guy like Zuckerberg should have the capacity to see that, but he is excusing himself with poor words of non-sense. Time to man up and kiss the ring. If not, than he wouldn’t know what hit. The worst that would happen would be dozen of using suspending their use and spot using the Social Media and Corporations owned by Facebook. If we did they surely would know why the sanctions against the conversation… against the truth and against freedom of speech. Something that is worthy fights and we the commoners always have fought the battle to be able to speak without fear and with censorship from our master. Now it is just digitally and not directly on paper. Otherwise it is the same ways as in the past. The elite, the rich want us to be silenced and they want to earn on us without being questioned. We the people shouldn’t accept that. Peace.

The Secretary-General continues to follow closely the situation in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), in particular the political dialogue process. He takes note of today’s meeting of the preparatory committee to the national dialogue convened by the Facilitator of the African Union, Edem Kodjo.
The Secretary-General recalls that in resolution 2277 (2016) the Security Council underlined the importance of a credible and inclusive political dialogue to ensure peaceful, credible, inclusive, transparent and timely presidential and legislative elections, in line with the Constitution.
The Secretary-General once again calls on all political stakeholders in the DRC to engage in an inclusive political dialogue in good faith to overcome the impasse in the electoral process. He notes that there is no alternative to a credible political dialogue in the DRC and further urges all actors to refrain from any action that could increase tensions or lead to violence.
