Opinion: Will the Tigray be pushed to secede from the Federation?

This week the House of Federations has done two things to the Regional Government of Tigray as an response to September 2020 elections. They have both ceded co-operation with the Regional Government and also stopped the subsidiary of the budgets of the state. This is clearly amping up the tensions. As much, as the Tigray have also ceased co-operation with the House of Representatives too. Therefore, a real stalemate have appeared.

The Federal Government in Addis Ababa is playing with high stakes. As they cannot ambush every region of the Republic. The Prosperity Party and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali is trying to bush-whack the ones being at helm for over two decades. The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) knows all the tricks and hurdles ahead. The TPLF isn’t a weak party. They are former oppressors of the Republic and knows all the steps ahead.

It seems like the PP and PM Abiy haven’t captured or understood who they are dealing with. It is like he don’t know what game his playing. Just reacting and trying to play catch-up. That is why the Tigray doesn’t seemed shocked or unprepared for it. This is why they went ahead with an election. When the Federal Government had suspended it and even ensured that their own mandate would cease before the next polls.

The Federal Government have taken all consolidated the powers. They are using the boots on the grounds, political prisoners and intimidation to incite power within the ranks of the public. The Prosperity Party is coming with soldiers and with bracelets. The state is arresting, torturing and killing its dissidents at a rate that are worse and beyond the TPLF. The TPLF which had much more years in power, but still Abiy have succeeded to have a worst record in the short span his been power.

Still with that betrayal of reforms and moving forward. The Prime Minister and the Representatives in Addis is trying to outsmart Mekelle. However, they are only ensuring and giving reasons for the Tigray to secede from the Federation. Instead of being beside the opposition and showing reason. The Federal Government is creating all the good arguments to cease and rebuke the central power.

The 1995 Constitution article 39 (4) is clear on this and is a protocol for how to do it. The TPLF should know this by heart. So, if the Legislative Council of the Nation (Tigray) votes for a Referendum with a margin of two-thirds majority. Then, the Federal Government has to organize a election within 3 years. After that, if a majority supported the referendum. It is at that point the Federal Government have to transfer its powers to the Council of the Nation.

Those things are far from this very moment. However, the more the stakes are set. The cards are played and the deck is set. The game is ready for it. The House of Federation is clearly not interested in the citizens of Tigray. Neither, are they interested in doing any favours to the TPLF. The Party that rejected the Prosperity Party. Therefore, everything that has happen since is a sort of retribution. As they didn’t want to be a part of the Abiy project. Whatever that is, except of consolidating all power around “his highness”.

I was never blind to the ills of the TPLF and its reign. However, the PP and Abiy isn’t better. They are using the same means and at such scale. The citizens of Oromia and Ogaden is feeling the blunt force of it. There is only a fake-peace. Where the arms are aimed at the public. That cannot last forever. Neither, can a stalemate with Tigray last forever. There will be reactions and actions made.

Some speaks of fear of civil war. That would have been unleashed, because the Federal Government didn’t respect its constitution and neither did its duty. Alas, the fallacy is all in Addis and in the hands of Abiy. He has the loyalty and the powers from his unelected representatives. They can make a difference.

However, will they do that? Would they accept the vote from the TPLF for succession and secede from the Federation?

I really don’t know, but the state of affairs isn’t becoming better. It is becoming worse. That is handled wrong and not negotiating between the parties. Instead, they are using their means against each other. To see who gets humiliated first and gives way. That is something can last for long and prolong the juxtaposition they have put themselves in. The quagmire created by the Federal Government and TPLF. Which they both can solve, but is there a will and way?

I hope and pray for less guns, less bloodshed and loss of lives. There has already been enough loss of lives because of ignorance, arrogance and hunger for power. However, how much more needs to be lost over the throne and ability to rule supreme in Addis? I don’t know, but something got to give. Peace.

Ethiopia: House of Federation 6th Year is Unconstitutional …

Today, the Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali and all representatives in the House of Federation (HoF). All members of government, everyone who is elected in Addis Ababa is now on borrowed time. Their days are due. They are unconstitutional. There is no sixth year for the HoF, neither is it for any government official either. They are all out of their expired mandate.

As the Constitution specifies quit clearly is this:

Article 54(1): “Members of the House of Peoples’ Representatives shall be elected by the People for a term of five years on the basis of universal suffrage and by direct, free and fair elections held by secret ballot”.

That means everyone in the House of Federation, the Council of Ministers and everyone else only have 5 years. Not a magical 6th Year like the state opened up with today. This not an anomaly or a mistake. What is happening is deliberate action by the public officials or the representatives. So, that they rule without a mandate. No election and no universal suffrage, meaning they haven’t done their constitutional duty and neglected the law.

As stated here:

Addis Ababa, October 5, 2020 (FBC) – The House of Federation and the House of Peoples have held their 6th year 1st joint opening session” (Fana Broadcasting Company – ‘Houses hold 6th year 1st joint session’ 05.10.2020).

So, today the no-mandated representative was holding a illegal meeting in the House of Federation. They are not voted in for 6 years. These people are no holding office without the will of the public. There has been no proof of their purpose or their seats. These Members of Parliament, these Representatives are illegally holding office.

That is the reality… it is a sad reality. That a supposed reformist and a game changer cannot even hold onto the articles of the constitution. As a Prime Minister and a man who has made himself the Prosperity Party. The man has clearly not a will or a ability to follow the laws himself.

This man can make his enemies into terrorists, make the opposition leaders into political prisoners and use the army to silence protests. Kill activists and take care of the ones who dare to dissent. That is what the state is doing and therefore, not shocking that this leadership wants to rule on a unconstitutional mandate.

The PM and his reign is now showing that the HoF and Prosperity Party isn’t there to make a difference, but only to consolidate power. They are only there to hold a grip on power and misuse it. As they claim others as violators of the same laws.

The HoF said the regional election in Tigray was unconstitutional at one point in September, but they kept the timeline of the Constitution. The TPLF have actually adhered to the constitution. Something, the Federal Government haven’t been able too. That is why the HoF and the government is in a quagmire.

It would have been easy, but then again… these guys doesn’t care. Just like they don’t care to arrest people, use schools as prisons and violate people’s freedoms. This is what they do. They cannot run on legitimacy… they have to be by force. That is why the government are targeting its dissidents and opposition. Taking them away and letting them rot in prison. This is what the Prosperity Party stands for and who PM Abiy is. The actions speaks louder than words.

Now, they are running a government on a illegal Sixth Year. Starting new sessions… and misusing power. They got no mandate for it and its unjustified. Its an illegal operation. National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) needs to call a federal election as soon as possible. Since, this is already too late.

However, I don’t think they care, but only blames opposition for being in the wrong. That is what they does and seems to thrive in it. Peace.

Opinion: Isn’t the 10th October 2020 – PP and Abiy’s due date?

The Prosperity Party (PP) and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali are soon living on borrowed time. The government, the House of Federation (HoF) and the House of People’s Representatives are running out of time. This term for their mandate to be representatives of the people ends on the 10th October 2020.

While that is happening, the Federal Government is working on overtime to dismiss the Tigray Election, which happened earlier in September. Ironically, the only election that was held within the time-frame of the Constitution. The ones the HoF and the Prime Minister is supposed to uphold.

The Ethiopian Government have already postponed the election twice this year. There was supposed to be an election on the 29th August 2020. This was already postponed in April 2020 this year. There is now a scheduled election to instead happening during the month of February 2021. That is several of months on overtime. Then the Representatives and the Government is practically working without a mandate. That ceased to be active on the 10th October 2020. This is why the state should have gone forward with an election this September to ensure the Republic with a legitimate government.

Instead, the House of Federation have suspended the elections and the National Election Board of Ethiopia (NEBE) have followed suit too. The HoF called the Tigray Elections unconstitutional and deemed them “null and void”. While, themselves are soon illegitimate, because they didn’t hold an election in time. That is how ironies and hypocrisy bites you in the ass.

Prime Minister Abiy isn’t only a false prophet, a fake Messiah, but he wants to rule illegitimate for months too. That is why he first made statements for peace, but has sent his soldiers to violate civilians. He has negotiated with the opposition, given them a hand and applauded them. For later ensure their arrests, forged charges and called them terrorist. The man has made fake coup d’etat’s and consolidated power. This man is postponing elections to favour himself.

Abiy was never elected, he was selected by a internal coalition, which has made into one and into his vision. So, that the Prime Minister has control and wants to seal the deal of the opposition. This is all for him to get the glory. He enjoyed the Peace Price and the Award Ceremony. The man basked in glory and international credibility. However, the same man will not take accountability for the violence, the conflict and misuse of power.

That is why he has no trouble reigning a illegitimate government. As he himself isn’t a elected leader. He should have fixed this already. The Tigray People’s Liberation Front (TPLF) have given him a lesson. A lesson his not accepting, as his ego and he accepts to be unconstitutional. While claiming the counterpart is the same. Ironies again, the TPLF and the Regional Government did what the Constitution stipulates.

It is really a weird time we are living in. Where people are dying on the account of people who are claimed to be men of peace. In a state, where the supposed reforms are supposed to benefit the public, but instead benefits a small minority and their allies in power. That is why the Prime Minister and his party is scheming to ensure total control.

He does this, by circumventing the laws and misusing his office. The type of action this man has no issues with pursuing. Abiy and his government shouldn’t prolong the agony. It will just cause a charade of a election. The HoF quests in the next few months will be questioned, as their mandate is already terminated. They have lingered in power and not fixed the technicalities. While the opposition lingers in jail. That is the state of affairs.

Who knew that Abiy would betray the state and do it all for his own selfish interests? This isn’t reforming the state for the betterment of the public. Ensuring that regions are burning, their leaders are behind bars and cracking a rigged election next year. That is only showing how he wants to be King, but has no throne to reign from. This is why he has to assault it, destroy it and bash in the glory of the bloodshed he causes. He will pin the blame on the victims like a real tyrant does…

So, now his banging on his own deadline, as the mandate ceases within a few days. About 10 days to be exact and by what I reckon. There will be no election to re-elect or get people voted in as Representatives in time. Which by all means that the Federal Government, the ones Representing and the Cabinet itself is all illegitimate.

That is the status quo in a few days and it has been a deliberate act by the ones in power. Abiy and his cronies have all done this. They have made it all happen and are no in-effect illegally occupying their offices. That will be the reality of it.

This is the same HoF who dismissed and called the Tigray “null and void”. The ones who actually followed the Constitution. That is tragic part here. These are the people that saying its sinful to have sex before marriage, but has no issues have mistresses and having side-dishes all across town. They can scream of monogamy, but living a life of polygamy. Therefore, their words and acts are riddled with deceit. They are hooked on power and will use all means to keep. Even end their enemies if they got too. Peace.

Ethiopia: The Amhara and Oromo Political Parties Common Political Positions (23.09.2020)

Opinion: Abiy is living on borrowed time…

There is just a certain amount of pressure, a certain amount of injustice, impunity and devastation the public can get accustomed too. The Prosperity Party and their allies can arrest, detain and fill the courts with bogus charges on all dissident, on all opposition. However, that doesn’t make it all true.

It is done so the man can hold a sham election. Where all his opponents are lingering behind bars. Where they cannot stand, as they are treacherous human beings. They are the filth of the earth. The scum and the ones who bring harm. While, in the end. The ones who is ordering the soldiers, the armed law-enforcement isn’t the ones behind bars, but the man in office.

The Prince, the unsolicited king, the emperor without any clothes. Because, the man is naked. His vicious attempt of control. Seize all parts of the state. Make money transactions illegal, create an own counterfeit market within the Nation. That is what he does.

While labelling the leaders of the opposition as terrorists. Saying their acts are devious and insincere. They are in cahoots to topple his reign. To be fair, the only one brining it down is his own self. Because, the power, the arms and the ones in-charge are letting him go off the handles.

Using violence in Oromia, Ogaden and elsewhere. Ensuring the fear, the intimidation and the use of extra judicial killings. Arbitrary arrests and state sanctioned violence against his own. Since, this leadership doesn’t have the respect of the public, but only have the guns.

This Prime Minister was supposed to come in peace, but he come with guns. Abiy wants so badly to be great. He wants his image to be glorious, alas his deprecated actions will linger forever. That he uses the same means of the forefathers. The same means of state violence and law enforcement to silence dissidents. Throwing them in cages, in dungeons and letting them rot. That is what does.

Uses the offices, the riches and the wealth of his throne to live lavish. Have parties and significant development projects, but the people are not feeling it. The policies are skin-deep and only one con after the other. The man only wants praise and glory, but don’t want to put the work-in.

Abiy wants so badly to be noble, wants so hard to be respected and honoured. Alas, his just a thief. Stealing the time, the lives and the opportunities of others. Coming with a message of hope, but only delivering harm. Speaking of glory, but coming with defeat. Singing a tune of salvation, but only brining death. That is what this man does for a living.

Prime Minister Abiy is living on borrowed time. The time he cannot find funds to pay his soldiers. The moment law enforcement is left behind. The moment the state doesn’t see value in him and the protests escalates into a manner. Where the arms, the soldiers and the state cannot hold. Then he will have lost it. The moment his backers, the foreign policy makers see his ills, see the brutality and the murderous regime. Then they might drop him too. So, that he will walk alone.

He got the praise to early, he looked to promising, but it was all a lie. He lived on a lie. Now the whole Nation has to suffer. The Prime Minister is acting like a brutal king. The unjust king and the man of the hammer. The man who will punish the ones who stands in his way. Even if it is all bogus, all fake and not true. Still, he will do so and ensure that the ones who are against him. Will suffer! Peace.

Ethiopia: Abiy holding an election now… [that will be a charade]

The Prosperity Party and Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed Ali must think people dumb, stupid or dumb. They must think the majority of the people are fools. People who cannot think or grasp their game. As the Minister of Health proclaimed today, that the state can hold elections, as long as they abide the guideline and principals for health and COVID-19/Coronavirus. Alas, we knew all of that already. Lia Tadessa and the PM just running their ploy on us.

This is happening on the 18th September, just mere days and close to two weeks since the Regional Government of Tigray held a local and peaceful election on the 9th September 2020. That is why today is really not it.

The Prime Minister, his Council of Ministers and House of Federation must really think the public is ignorant and lack understanding about their political craft. These people in power think they can run a scheme like this. Now, that they have just a minute ago dismissed the Tigray. Saying it wasn’t conducted in the right spirit and they claimed it was unconstitutional. While the postponement of the August elections was unconstitutional. They had baseless accusations against the Tigray and didn’t have the ability to counter.

That is why the Prime Minister and his team had to swiftly change. The Tigray Election in September 2020 humiliated him. He wants to be the all powerful and in control. That’s why having an election now is in bad spirit too. As his main competitors are behind bars. The opposition are all detained and being political prisoners. There are violence, oppression and harsh brutalities. People are dying, civilians arrested and people gone missing too.

The Prosperity Party isn’t interested in a democratic, free and fair election. Because, if they held that. There would be regional parties on ethnic lines that would win and not the Prosperity Party. The party of the PM would loose in major regions, as they are used to seeing the forces of the federal government coming with guns and ammo. They are not coming with development, work or opportunities. That the Federal Government hopes the foreign donors and NGOs will cover for them.

This here is just shady. If they think this is smart. It is not. They used the COVID-19 or the Coronavirus as an excuse, but was undermined by the Tigray. Where they held an election and that one backfired. When they defied the HoF and the Prime Minister. They proven that it is possible and are able to hold elections during the pandemic. It was just a smokescreen for the PM. Who was a afraid that people doesn’t really love him or fear him enough.

Since, he has gone on rampage in Oromia, he has gone after the other dissidents too. In Ogaden the crisis has continued. There are sparks of violence, state sponsored violence towards citizens on the regular. While activists, opposition leaders and others are detained. They are most likely behind bars when the elections are happening. The parties and allies within the opposition will maybe barred from being on the ballot.

Prime Minister Abiy have used the tyranny card. He has used his power and ability to consolidate power, suspend elections, send his enemies to either the gallows or behind bars. While awaiting a silent moment to unleash his pre-rigged elections. Because, if all his enemies and opponents are behind bars. His own hand-picked leaders can be ushered in and he can have slim-pickings and “Yes-Men” in office.

The Prosperity Party and Prime Minister takes the people for fools, but they should know better. The PM and his party trying rig a charade… where they have the upper-hand before the polls starts and prepared the victory long ahead. That is why its happening now…. It is deliberate and it is for a reason.

I doubt the Prime Minister will release his opponents and run against them. He rather have them behind bars until its over. So, that the can bash in glory and be crowned king. Since, he wasn’t voted by the public, but hand-picked himself. Now, he will ensure his “voted on” by the means, which is all under his control. Peace.
