“But today in Uganda, even if you are as stupid as Museveni’s son. Even if it don’t work. They have their slaves, their slaves are you. I want us to come together end this slavery. I’m saying this because you, because this country belongs to all of us. The man and the women, the young and the old. The rich and the poor. The black and the brown. Very very finally, I want to promise you… my brothers and sisters, that this is not a dream, I am not dreaming, I’m talking about is happening here” – Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine in Soroti (09.11.2024).
We know…
We know…
We know…
Should we say it again or do we need to repeat it. The saga continues and things aren’t changing. Robert Kyagulanyi aka Bobi Wine is speaking a fact. It has hit a nerve. That we know because the Patriotic League of Uganda (PLU) has addressed it.
We knew that this would cause a stir. They would say his reckless and uses the wrong language. Nevertheless, his only as diplomatic and sincere as the National Resistance Movement (NRM). They are even harsher… and more disrespectful against their adversaries.
The bleak reality is that Gen. Muhoozi Kainerubaga is part of the system and has enriched himself true it. He is such embedded into the state machinery that laws aren’t in effect. He has a political outfit and a civic pressure group that is become the loudest group of the NRM. That’s while being an army commander and in disregard to the codes of the UPDF Act. Therefore, there is no way anyone can conquer that supremacy.
Gen. Kainerubaga cannot show his finesse, leadership or abilities, his only there on the merits of who his father is. The general isn’t there because he worked hard or was a man of wisdom. That’s why the people can disdain him and call him out. He went out there… and now he gets the public scrutiny.
The PLU have reacted to calling their master and standby generator “stupid” but they aren’t going hard on the “slavery”. The mentality shows where the PLU and the NRM have left people behind. The NRM and PLU are brothers in combat. They are entangled and are a part of the same thing. These aren’t separate entities. No, they are connected and work for the same goal. Therefore, the reality is a short statement about where the state has failed the people.
Most of the people haven’t gotten better over the 40 years in power. Neither has government programs or policies made a massive change for the future generations. They are at the same point as the children of bush-war generation is now entering office. These people have seen the parents not making changes, but only continued a status quo. The status quo that the NRM wants to keep.
So, we know, we know and Muhoozi should wise up. His being called stupid for a reason. He lacks charisma and the swagger the nation expects. There is nothing in his mannerisms and his attitude that shows his eager or even have the character to carry the weight of a public office. It is just entitlement and arrogance. That’s all we see and hear.
Bobi Wine is maybe not polished here and speaking out of his heart. That hurts the pride of the PLU/NRM. However, they need to hear it, and this wouldn’t have been told. If other people of the patronage would speak. Peace.
