Malawi: The Tipp-Ex wasn’t enough, now it’s nullified for new Fresh Elections!

Today, the Constitutional Court in Malawi have nullified last years Presidential Election after a successful petition by the opposition. The incumbent President Peter Mutharika have been nullified. The election was seen as fraudulent, not done properly in accordance with law. Neither with the verification of the ballots, the altering of electoral forms and so-on.

The case of Tipp-Ex President is now done and he to go for another round of Fresh Presidential Elections within 150 days. This is a victory for Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi Congress Party) and Saulos Chilima (United Transformation Movement). Both of them fought the case against the President and his Democratic Progressive Party.

The Malawi Electoral Commission didn’t get kind words for their work in the Tripartite Elections on the 21st of May 2019. The ones giving it well-wishes from the election observers from the African Union (AU), European Union (EU) and the Southern African Development Community (SADC) looks foolish now. As they rubber-stamped the events and gave-it a go sign.

Therefore, today is a vindication of the public. The way the MEC and DPP did this is now in the open. Tomorrow, the Constitutional Court will drop their 500-pages of the judgment. Today, its been all on radio and social media. All the commentary of the judges and the verdict.

What is important is that the incumbent President isn’t dully elected. His is the running one until the Fresh Presidential Elections. This gives the President a life-line, but the MEC cannot rewind the operations of the 2019 elections. These sort of practices, if proven will be determined unjust and make it null-and-void. Like it did today.

That means the MEC cannot tipp-ex the results and get away with it. Neither can it await to officiate the role of actually report and verify the results properly. Not hold the results back and suddenly release it. Just as it didn’t release the results within the legal window of 48 hours either. The MEC did what it could and did it wrongfully. The evidence of the opposition UTM and MCP was strong enough to prove that.

The President and his team should be in deep distress. As the demonstrations and the others are proof of dismay towards the regime. The President should worry that he cannot win confidence nor their votes. As he cannot use the same trick again. The MEC should also get another team and other leaders, whose trusted by the public. Not puppets of the DPP. The MEC needs to be independent and drop a viable timeline.

There is no time to waste. The MEC better do it simple, but the authorities better start reconfigure the MEC. Unless, we will see another round of Tipp-Ex and other issues. Which occurred last year and could repeat again. Then we are back to start and have to re-return without trust of the Fresh Presidential Elections.

The Elections Observers better chill and take a rest. They didn’t do their job. The Malawi Electoral Support Network (MESN) better be supported from afar and given funds to properly educate and observe. As they are own citizens wishing the best and honest about the results. Not like the outsiders, who only wants peace and not justified results. Which is the case of the matter here.

The MEC and DPP better act-up. The UTM and MCP have to gear-up for another election. They got to get to the front-lines and fight for the voters. The DPP cannot sleep on the laurels. The Presidency isn’t automatic.

Mutharika thought he could just Tipp-Ex it. However, that got whipped out too. Now its all erased and got to start afresh. Peace.

Malawi: BDO Report proves the massive Tipp-Ex Operation for the Tripartite Elections!

BDO Jordan was hired to make a report, which was signed by Hussain Alshobaki signed on for the 31st May 2019. This report was made by the BDO Jordan on the request of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and their wish to verify the results made by Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).

One of the key findings was:

4. Tippexed and edited forms:

A Significant number of Form 66 were over scribbled, as a result, most of Form 66 became a mess and therefore needed to be replaced by duplicate forms, manually prepared forms, which were completed at the constituency tally centres. Some of the forms were excessively tippexed by POs who used tippex to do their corrections. Auditors made sure that all the figures were tallied and used the logbooks as the source documents to validate tippexed entries” (BDO, 2019).

We know the results was really altered, as the BDO could verify that about 24% of the Form 66 was Tipp-Exed and another 6% manually amended forms. This means that quickly a 30% of the forms was changed to fit the will of the incumbent and his party. The BDO is by this confidential report proving the previously reported rigging of the tripartite elections of earlier May this year.

That MEC and the President would sink this low is evident and that they thought they would get away with the open onslaught of the ballots, as the tally records was altered to fit the wilful outcome. Which in the end would give another term to the President.

When BDO could determine that 30% was altered either by Tipp-Ex or manually, it shows that it was deliberate actions to secure ONE outcome and ONE winner. That is close to one third of all forms, which is substantial to the claims of a fraudulent election.

Nothing else can be stated. That is what the BDO is saying without stating it directly. It isn’t one slip-up, but a systemic and default decision to change the records in favour of one party or one candidate. Peace.

The Tipp-Ex President is now Sworn-In!

In Blantyre yesterday, the incumbent President Peter Mutharika was the announced victor in the Tripartite Elections of 21st May 2019. The Malawian Electoral Commission (MEC) announced this yesterday, so the President didn’t wait a second to have his official ceremony and start his second term. He had to do this quickly before the Tipp-Ex results got altered again.

This happens as the Opposition is crying foul. They are doing this with justification. AS the Opposition Candidates couldn’t even have the time to table a case to nullify or make the counting of voting “null and void” as there are evidence of open rigging in this elections. Even if his numbers are low and not really a huge victory. The Incumbent President won with 38,75%. Not like he rigged himself with a major majority, which is a lazy way of rigging himself in power.

It is like the recounting scheduling, which the High Court made happen in several of districts was important to challenge the first partial results. Nevertheless, the same results happen. Maybe, that is why as the President was swearing himself, the Opposition Party Malawian Congress Party was tear-gassed by the authorities. Therefore, the President and his government are really showing his true force on the same day his resuming his office.

President Mutharika should be more humble, not like his popularity is there. Maybe, because his statements in the past. As the Head of State has told the public to “eat mice and grasshoppers or die” to survive in the middle of hunger and food crisis. That is why the public should remember that he did this too them.

The MCP and UTM didn’t manage to beat the incumbent now. Certainly, combined with all the other Presidential Candidates they have about 62 % of the population. That is why the President and his party needs to humble themselves. Since, we know they rushed today and the acts of swearing-in. As they should have waited for petitions against the counting and announcing of the results. That is because there is open questions about credibility.

As long as these questions are unanswered, the incumbent will be remembered for this and the reality of the memory of this will not go away. He will always be remembered for some as the Tipp-Ex President. The White-Out President and the one who needed whitening fluid to get into power. That is a real weakness, as he didn’t have the natural swagger or popularity to get the public on his side.

Maybe, the DPP shouldn’t endorse Motorola phones, worry about Cashgate or even Maizegate. The DPP and Mutharika has so many scandals in their first term, that if it was serious, the electorate and the whole republic would have chosen anyone else. Maybe they did, but we will not know now, as the MEC has announced him and his VP. They will surely rule, but on shaky grounds, as his legitimacy is weak at best.

This is nothing new, but the chicken thief gets harshly punished and get time, but if you still a republic, you become President.

TIPP-EX President, what’s up? Peace.
