Campaign preview’s and updates on the ground in Uganda – The day before the day

There been the nominations days and harmonization of the campaigns with the Electoral Commission. So tomorrow is the official start to the long journey to 18^th February. They have already talked and commented about each other. Now the train has left the station and we will see how far the train goes of it ends well at the destination.

First- NRM in Luweero:

There have been pictures of the Yellow Buses arriving in Luweero without any joy of the locals. Also been reports of the Crime Preventers that was left behind in Kololo has been taken buses towards Luweero as we speak. So that they might get paid this time and also get a free t-shirt. So that the President has an eager crowd at the place! There are also reports that the NRM will treat the ones that show up a free lunch and transport to those who comes by the rally in town.

One Campaign plan by the NRM:

“The NRM is now on the move to Neutralize ‪#‎Goforward Msge saying they are the ones going forward and in effect it resonates with the No Change Slogan”.

Second – FDC in Rukungiri:

There have been reports that Dr. Kizza Besigye travelled through Ntungamo via Kahengye Bridge and continued through Nyakibare to Rukungiri Town. There been reports of supports walking from as long as 100 kilometers to stay over to take part of the election rally tomorrow! In the area the rally has called off work and become a Public Holiday in the area. The Kasiki has begun at the Fdc offices in Rukungiri in preparation for rally tomorrow today.

Later in the week some notices:

“All is set to welcome Col.(rtd)Dr. Kizza Waren Besigye Kifeefe to Kanungu on Thursday 12th.Nov.2015 – He is expected to arrive in the District on Wednesday evening and thereafter address his people via a Kanungu popular radio station KBS at 8:00pm. He will in the morning head to Mpungu to greet his people there and later pass Butogota where he will have a stop-over and greet his people. He will thereafter address a mega rally in Kihihi before heading to Kanungu Main Stadium for a final Mega rally in the evening” (Reports is saying so)

Third – Go Forward:

Muhamad Kikomeko who is a support of the Amama Mbabazi escapes death in Sembabule, a group attacked his car and burned his car.

The Amama Mbabazi rally will happen in Maska District.

Fourth and Fifth – Independent Candidates:

Tomorrow November 9, 2015 TIC Presidential Candidate Mr. Mabirizi Joseph and Mrs. Maureen Faith Kyala Waluube will hold various meetings in Iganga and Kaliro districts.

We have decided that the two cut costs and share resources – they will be campaigning on the same platform everywhere. Their time table is the same.

Tomorrow 9th Nov they are in Iganga and Kaliro. On Tuesday 10th – in Bugiri and Namayingo. On Wednesday,11th they will be in Jinja and Mayuge.

Can’t wait for tomorrow! There will be movement on the ground and reports ticking in tomorrow. Can’t wait, not worth stressing about it before it ticks in and the campaigning will happen. An wonder how the people in the towns and villages around the areas where the Presidential Candidates are running their campaigns, not only also how the Tear-gas skirmishing police will deal with Leaders of Opposition, don’t expect any violence around the NRM campaign, but there rest there could be issues! Because the UPF has an history of going against the other ones. Peace.

Fighters of Justice: UPF and M7 Hails to No One On their duty as the “Crime Preventers” in the General Election of 2016

You think that the issues between police and Ugandans are inflicted with a huge rise of crime. Since they have hired such numbers of Crime Preventers! If you don’t know its election season and it will continue until the General Elections in February to March 2016. The Inspectorate General of Police Kale Kayihura has spoken out again. Therefore has to show how arrogant and also how his rhetoric is so demanding while pushing the public and opposition figures at every move. While he is using laws to benefit and not policing the actual public or citizens, but controlling them with force. I might be called a foreign influence, still I shouldn’t be feared or putting him against for instances the public. It’s about check and balance. We all should be able to ask for transparency and accountability, something that is hard to see and being held accountable because the police have the right to charge with violence in case of security. It’s hard to see accountability from the Police and Government when they don’t shed the light on their own misbehaving and claiming everybody else is the troublemakers. We should all wonder what the use for all those Crime Preventers and so sudden the amount of people that are affiliated with the police, but not official police force. They will surely create animosity during the election and spread more fear, then the sectarianism and tribalism that supposed to be the issue that usually the President Museveni calls out. That I fear for all the other parties and independents running in this coming election. I hope I am not alone. Because the evidence and numbers of people is crazy! Period, just take a look!  

IGP Kale Kayihura on a press conference today:
“This is now foreign influences. We want to turn the population against the government. It is absolutely rubbish. It is not true. Absolutely not true. Absolutely not true! (Kale Kayihura shakes his head). Yes off course what I cannot deny is that there is something called National Security. Forget it! We target, in fact we should be faulty, we should have, we should have known these groups you talking about. Through protection, protection is constitutional, protection involves off course involving some bad characters like terrorism. Terrorism! We shouldn’t carry out to intelligence work to protect terrorist” (WBS TV, 26.10.2015) .

Uganda Police Force deal with North Korea:
“The panel discovered that the Ugandan government had contracted with North Korea to provide police force training. Ugandan government officials purported that they did not realize that UN sanctions prohibited this type of activity, according to a USUN official” (GAO, 2015).

There been released and having public rallies with President Museveni like yesterday in Lira. The same has happen in Kasese and Gulu. Therefore there been set into force lots of Community Crime preventers. That’s the once that IGP Kale Kayihura discussing on the Press conference today. The real issue is the manhood and level of upgrade towards this group of Crime Preventers into society.

In August President Museveni did this:
“President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has passed out 30,000 crime-preventers from the district of Ngtungamo who has completed a cadership and crime prevention course conducted by the Uganda police force at Kyamate secondary school grounds” (…)”Recently, Museveni presided over the passing out over 8,000 crime preventers at Nyakasharara grounds in Kiruhura districts” (TheInsider.co.ug , 2015).

On the 5th of October 2015 President Museveni presided over and passed out 50,000 Crime preventers in Mbale. The National Youth Crime Preventers:
“Mbale residents have pledged full support to the National Crime Preventers Forum (NCPF) on the pass-out of over 50,000 Crime preventers due to take place tomorrow.The Business community who are the biggest beneficiaries of a Crime free society which is a result of Police coordinating or Cooperating with the people (Community Policing) confirmed their attendance and Support to the cause”. That is what they self-claimed about the actions happening on the 5th of October in Mbale”.

Earlier the UPF commented like this:
“His Excellence the president of Uganda Yoweri Kaguta Museveni who was the Guest of honor on Monday 12th October passed out 23,000 crime preventers at Nyakakinda grounds in Kasese district” (UPF, 2015).

Budget wise:
“Plans by the Uganda Police Force to recruit up to 7,000 officers ahead of the 2016 general elections may stall following the failure by the Ministry of Finance to provide Shs 8.3b required for the activity” (…)”He also said that in order to professionalise the Uganda Police Force, there is need to improve quality of personnel through continuous training in basic courses which include leadership, command and control, public order management, traffic control, investigation and crime management” (Uganda Parliament).

Why I do this now is to show the numbers of crime preventers that Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has now on his hands and also the how the NRM regime is arguing for the necessity of this kind of security agents “right” before the general election of 2016 in Uganda. What scares me is the unfolding of it and at the same time the old reports of the budgets for the Police. Especially with the way that IGP Kale Kayihura and his rhetoric towards everybody else, like he has attacked the opposition and the media. Together with amount of extra personnel should be looked up and followed up by the donors and international society to address the matter.

Nobody has address the Crime Preventers and their role up to the 2016 General Election. YKM is surely starting to be afraid of his own people when he has to get that amount of people together with the army, police and special police squads to target individuals of fear. The fear should also be with the special training of police from the North Korean Police forces and training of parts of the Ugandan Police Force. Together with the Crime Preventers in this certain levels that is surreal. This is reality and the fear that IGP Kale Kayihura and President Museveni are staggering. Also the rhetoric that been used by them both is also more onto “them” and “us”. The citizens and the National Security issue. It doesn’t seem like the population isn’t what needs National Security, but the NRM-Regime. The Police has been inconsiderate when it comes to people who is not in the Yoweri Kaguta Museveni wing of the NRM, and their loyal cronies. Then the Police even shot and spray tear-spray over them. As they have done to the opposition as well for a long time, ever since they has followed them and policed them since the 2005, Uganda Police Force and Crime Preventers will surely make this election messy.

And without them IGP Kale Kayihura, his DPCs and Special Forces like the Flying Squad can easily do damage to any Election rally that is supposable “illegal” by the Public Order Management Act. That will surely happen, also the coming actions of Police against DP, UPC and FDC rallies will happen in due time. Secondly also the leaders of these parties will be handled in a fashion called Preventive Arrest and house arrests. We will also see that they also without any court judgement taken to custody by law enforcement before them even send their kids to school. This will happen because they are affiliated with the wrong political party. Peace.

Prof. Gilbert Bukenya kissed the ring of President Museveni.

TDA loose yet another pivotal man:

Mr. Mahogany or should I say his Christian name Gilbert Balibaseka Bukenya the former VP of the Republic of Uganda who himself went independent after being kicked out of NRM. He has today or very recent for some reason kissed the ring of his former leader Yoweri Kaguta Museveni.

The professor has said this: “TDA was poisoned and people who are there are very greedy. President Museveni has the right qualifications to lead this country” (…)”On four occasions, I met four different people who came to ask me to go back to the NRM. On the first and second time, I was not convinced. I was convinced on the third and fourth time, when they told me president Museveni has some good ideas. President Museveni promised me to fight poverty and land matters” (Daily Monitor, 2015).

For a brother who turned independent after losing his position in the NRM. President Museveni took him down and changed leadership because he had a plan in 2011 to go against His Excellency. His journey and saying now that President Museveni is the right guy in 2015 seems weird. Even for a man who has been loyal and kept close to the President.  

Reasons for this turn around are very dire:

“Sources say the group listed to Bukenya’s grievances against Museveni and later agreed with him that some of the issues he had raised were reconcilable” (…)”However sources told the New Vision that the two agreed that President Museveni would support Bukenya to defend his Parliamentary seat and campaign for him on top of securing for the former VP a position in the NRM highest decision making organ, Central Executive Committee” (…)”In return Bukenya would support and campaign for the President. Sources also said that former Vice President also requested he be appointed to cabinet in the next term” (Etukuri, 2015).

When you see this there will be more supporting of Pakalast-NRM ticket of Museveni. In turn he will go away for the unity of TDA that becomes smaller and smaller. With the FDC and Bukenya left the fold months before the actual event. Wonder if Norbert Mao, Akena, Otunnu and the other ones who still is a part of Alliance feels betrayed.

Bukenya has been bought for loyalty. He has done that before with CHOGM money. The indictment from 2011 says this:

“PROF. DR. GILBERT BUKENYA being a person employed as Vice President in the Government of the Republic of Uganda and Chairman of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) Cabinet Sub-Committee, on various dates between December 2006 and November 2007 within Kampala district did unlawfully and high handedly direct to be done arbitrary acts prejudicial to the interests of the Uganda Government, in abuse of his office; to wit; influencing and directing the award of the Contract for Supply of Executive Vehicles intended for use during Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2007, to Motorcare (U) LTD in total disregard of the laws, regulations and practices governing Public Procurements in the Republic of Uganda”.

If that tells what he can do and get gains then it isn’t a new thing from Prof. Gilbert Bukenya that he now will be bought by the NRM-Regime and in the end now get a position in the NRM CEC, the price his loyalty and support on the road on the Campaign for the Presidential Election for 2016. And all of this is a sad view for TDA and opposition that a deflected candidate can turn back to his fold again. This shows the weakness and also the power of reach that President Museveni still has over some of his former cadres. And for an outsider who was running for the Flag-Bearer for the Opposition Alliance of the TDA and when Amama Mbabazi got it. Then later totally go back to his former boss. This is a scary scenario and proves how little strength there is left in the TDA. Prof. Gilbert Bukenya has become a crony again. Become a part of the set-up of the NRM-Regime and given up. Mr. Mahogany is now going back for a secure paycheck. Sure I hope he has kept parts of the Exclusive Vehicles because this is just another foolish turn of events. On Independence Day of all days, proves that the Professor can’t be independent at all. Especially that he and some other can be bought with promises of positions in NRM-Organization.

Oh golly, this is from the same man that said this in February 2015:

““I am a professor of medicine and I am supposed to gesture while stressing a point. As a teacher, I am supposed to communicate well. There is no way you can say that I am the one copying Museveni. May be its President Museveni copying me. I am a professor and he is not. Who should copy the other?” (…)”I remember in 1986, President Museveni said the biggest problem of Africa is leaders who overstay in power. Unfortunately he has become that very problem. He is now Uganda’s biggest problem. The President should avoid killing the legacy he has struggled to build throughout his life” (…)”We went around the country asking voters to give Museveni one more term. But now, there is every indication that he is set to become a life president” (…)”President Museveni has been in power for over 29 years but our hospitals are in a terrible state. He has failed to even repair the 29 hospitals Dr. Milton Obote built. Whereas he calls him swine, Obote did better than Museveni in this area” (Mulondo & Oryema, 2015).

When a brother can say this and months later kiss the ring! You sure know that Museveni can bring everybody back or get them soften their approach against him. I am sure if Museveni wanted and could bring a sweet enough meal Amama Mbabazi would turn back. Though I know and others should by now know that Mbabazi was also a part of the CHOGM scandal as Bukenya.  He has gone from being in opposition fighting the NRM-Regime for a little second. When he even in February this year said he was “Uganda’s Problem” to now in October he is saying “President Museveni has the right qualifications to lead this country”. There are surely shows the powers of what a few pieces of silver can do. Peace.

Uganda – 53rd Independence Day Message from Yoweri K. Museveni, Dr. Kizza Besigye and Amama Mbabazi!

(YKM will hold a speech later today on Kololo Airstrip. Sure it will give even more “insights”)

But before that, enjoy the message from the FDC Flag-bearer!

Dr. Kizza Besigye Independence day message:

Independence Is not about just changing flag. In this county, Ugandans do not control the means of production. production is governed by two cardinal factors.
One land
We have Ugandans who are completely landless, they have no rights to land. They don’t have control over their natural resources including the most basic one which is water. The only natural resource they control is air.

Ugandans do not control the capital assets and they don’t control their labor. They are toiling for free. Govt has failed to put in place policies. Those who are lucky are exploited. They are modern slaves.
They don’t have control of technology.

The majority of Ugandans have no say in the trade and exchange policies. Wat ever little they make is taken for less.
We have no control over our taxes and expenditures.
We have a citizenry who are powerless after more than a quarter of a century.

The unprecedented poverty and unemployment.
These conditions will not change until the people of Ugandan acquire their power..

As we mark the 54th independence, Ugandans must regain their power. This is the most fundamental tasks of our people.

A powerless Citzen has no business in an election. Ugandans are still defrenchised as when they didn’t have votes.
You have a piece of paper without power.

I would like to invite our fellow citizen to rethink their role and how they determine it in the next election.
We are refuges in our country.

To gain power we must do three things.
We must realize that we don’t have power and without it, nothing will change.
We must regain our confidence as Citizens that this is our country.
With a confident citize we must get power the rest is easy.
We must stand up and say no. We are not going to be dominated again.
That unity is a unity of purpose. We need to get together inorder to regain our power. Not to get together to comply with our oppressor.
Some people want us together to comply with our oppressor.
We must defy our oppressor.
Those who want to organise to defy the oppressor to regain our power, am going to join them all the way.
Those who want to comply with the oppressor, I won’t be on their side.

Am happy on the Eve of Independence, am excited about the young people who are setting the agenda.
Am excited about the young people in MUK who are saying NO to the 100% tuition payment. We shall set the agenda.
The young people will lead the way to our liberation.
Am joining the 54th year of independent with hope. Am only disappointed where everybody is up for sale.
When I was moving around the country, poor Ugandans were giving me money to liberate our country.
We shall use our meager resources to liberate our country.

Uganda – President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni: Campaign of Fear for 2016 Presidential Election

When you have been in charge for a long time and no strategies to secure your position, it might be natural start campaigning as a politician with the results and the achievements that been made. A good politician would address the public with the progress and build on what has already been built. But this long term politician and president Yoweri Kaguta Museveni doesn’t do that in the run-up to the presidential election in 2016. Instead, He uses a whole other tool to bring the masses and secure his position in the country. His words are fearmongering and sectarianism, and that only he can keep order of the army. Which can’t be true and doesn’t look wise of a supposed statesman of his caliber, instead he speaks to his fellow countrymen like they need his guns and rigging to be sure of security. These quotes will show from July to August this year of how he speaks of his own regime and the necessary firepower for his reign.

President Museveni said in the 16^th of May through the statehouse channel that “I have been involved in the politics of Uganda for 51 years and I have experienced the cost of the politics of lies. So please I advise you to avoid them and stop misleading the population. I have heard some people use bad words like National Resistance Movement is bad for West Nile. Such a statement is poisonous and dangerous for national unity and development” (…) “When we overthrew Idi Amin ourselves, the Uganda People’s Congress with the support from Tanzania, we pleaded with the UPC leaders not to punish the people of West Nile because of the mistakes of Amin as an individual. The UPC leaders did not listen to us and instead imported criminality in West Nile because it was Amin’s home area leading to many deaths and forcing almost all West Nile people into exile in Sudan and DRC” (…) “I drove to Kaya myself near Oraba in Sudan when we had come into leadership and met two families. I asked them if they were Ugandans and they said yes and I asked them what they were doing in Sudan and the message went on. The others followed and today West Nile which was abandoned is one of the most populated areas of Uganda. So politicians please stop meddling in lies, just like the Bible puts it; say the truth it will set you free” (Uganda Statehouse, 2015).

According to him on the 21th July 2015: “We have built a strong army but it’s not a dictatorship and needs a well founded and clear headed leadership to be sure that the country’s future is safe. Even if you have a strong army without clear political leadership you can’t guarantee national peace and transformation therefore value your vote because it counts” (…) “We took a leadership decision to strengthen the army against the wishes of many other players because we had realized that insecurity was bred out of the weaknesses in the army and by 2003 we had defeated Kony and you can see the development taking place in Northern Uganda. We have totally defeated Allied democratic forces and arrested their leader Jamil Mukulu who should tell us why they have been killing Ugandans and they can never attack Uganda because they will pay a heavy price” (Waswa, 2015).

On 24^th of June he said: “There is peace in Uganda. No one has the capacity to destabilize Uganda” (Uganda Media Centre, 2015).

The President said on 31th July 2015: “We have built a strong army but it’s not a dictatorship and needs a well founded and clear headed leadership to be sure that the country’s future is safe. Even if you have a strong army without clear political leadership you can’t guarantee national peace and transformation therefore value your vote because it counts” (Lutaaya, 2015).

On the 5^th of August he said: “he historical agreed that as a way forward, I come and pick these nomination forms and I offer myself for the position of party chairman and NRM presidential candidates for the period 2015-2021” (Omara, 2015).

The President even said on 6^th August: “No one should poison your minds with wrong ideology based on tribe” (…) “If evidence is adduced, your victory will be annulled.” (…) “Leaders should be chosen based ability on to uplift the standard of living of the people not on ethnicity” (…) “We defeated ADF and ensured peace. Leadership premised on tribes will destabilize the area” (Ayiswa, 2015).

On his own web page, he quoted on 6^th of August: “Let leaders tell you what they want to do for you and their usefulness and leave your tribes because all tribes and people were created by God and none of us created any person. Not even the children that I have and all of you. We are not our own creation. We are all gifts from God; so don’t divide God’s people” (…) “I am not campaigning but when time comes, I will come here and tell you that NRM defeated rebels and brought peace to this region and I will ask you to vote NRM on those grounds not on tribal or religious basis because sectarian politics is evil. Uganda is peaceful, united and developing and nobody should divide Ugandans and spoil all the gains the country has realized” (Museveni, 2015).

He even sent messages to the people; the President had to send his message to the people literally. Even sent SMS to all the people owning phones in the country, and it wasn’t just to NRM members, but all the telecoms users of their service like the once using Airtel (Kaaya, 2015).

How the Police keeps the posters of the President on the walls everywhere: 

Fred Enaga said: “The president is the fountain of honour and he enjoys absolute immunity for whatever actions and enjoys structural advantages. You cannot just pull down his pictures under whatever circumstances” (…) “But even then, he has not come out to make such pronouncement (that he will run in the 2016 presidential elections),” (Tumwine, 2015).

How his army men fears him or misunderstood love:

Army Chief Brig Elly Kayanja says: “I am fully aware of the regulation that stops us (soldiers) from engaging in partisan politics but personally, I cannot hide my love and loyality to NRM and to President Museveni”. Vincent Bamulangaki Ssempijja says this: “We fear Museveni so much because he was our bush war leader, so we cannot just easily talk to him” (…) “When he (Museveni) comes to a cabinet meeting, we discuss issues of government and, after that, none of us get the chance to talk to him. Its very few amongst us who can call him, and likewise, he also calls a few of us” (TheInsider.ug, 2015).

All of this sectarianism treats isn’t strong enough to put a kettle on and see if the water is boiling. Because that`s what he is said that if you vote for something else then his, then your diffusing and voting actual ethnic reasons then NRM. Which we all know by now is a bit foolish, even though a party has their strongholds in the country. That is normal anywhere in the world. Certain parties have a stronger vibe in one area than the next because of the leadership of the party in that area and the public will recognize that they have. So that isn’t sectarianism, more given credit to the locals that are credit due.

The security issue that he continues to ponder on that, isn’t un-suspected. In other part of the country it’s all that he has to show for while being in power. So that he also uses the strong-man and big-man has to control the UPDF and the army to keep things secure isn’t something that should come as lightning on a clear sky, instead should be as visible as rainwater in the streets after a rain-shower. It is true that the current president is the reason why the UPDF and UPF are so strong and also as massive as it is. But he can’t believe his own words that he is the ONLY leader who got the power to command this brigades, right? If so, then he has lost his plot. That he is the sole reason for the peace in the Northern Uganda and also that the ADF has lost it strength over time, also their main leader which is now having court-time for his actions. I am sure that their more than one person who should get credit, also the support from SPLA and FARDC to push LRA into C.A.R. where the UPDF is still continuing the hunt. That the generals in the UPDF admire and fear their commander in chief isn’t unexpected though they are kind of over the line when even the president himself has said earlier that UPDF generals should not join into politics and they obviously do!

And that he drops gig songs isn’t new. I will not discuss the second song from the President (since I, myself is not a big fan). That is utter nonsense. But what is worthy of the campaign is the SMS sent to all the ones with SIM-cards for certain companies and not only for NRM members. That means that the President has bought the airtime and lists of numbers that the company has and maybe even violated its nation privacy laws. No matter what laws you have it’s a shady way of spreading your own vision to world. Isn’t it enough that they print your own views day in and day out in the New Vision?

The Amama Mbabazi planned to start his campaign and have demonstrations on the 15^th of June as a “Presidential Aspiration” in the NRM party in Kampala. The day before the Press Secretary of Uganda Police Fred Enanga that if Amama Mbabazi did so it would be: “Therefore, whoever is involved in organizing the demonstrations, or intends to participate in them will be in violation of the law, and will face criminal sanctions in accordance with the law”. IGP Kale Kayihura sent a letter preceding that the Amama Mbabazi campaigning that he needed to be careful about holding public meetings as a presidential aspiration on the 23^rd of June. On the 24^th of June a letter from the Mbabazi lawyers addressing the IGP Kale Kayihura wasn’t correct according to the law. Because a person in the NRM party should be allowed to ‘run’ for the “Presidential Aspiration” and hold public meetings to gain more popularity for his elections.

Even on the 8^th of July the Uganda Communication Commission and their Executive Director Godfrey Mutabazi who wrote to all Medias in Uganda that they have to be careful with the messages and what kind of voices they spread to the press either if it is radio, tv, newspapers and other formats. On the 9^th of July Dr. Kizza Besigye was arrested by the UPF when going from Kasangati in Wakiso Disctrict when he was supposed to start his political campaign for his presidential front runner for the FDC. He was admitted on a “preventative arrest” from the Police. Even the Insepctor General of Police Mr. Okot-Ochola on 13^th of July wrote a warning letter the FDC on their public meetings and explaining to them how the “Public Order Management Bill” works.

“Team Amama Mbabazi for President 2016-2021” had one NRM Youth Leader named Vincent Kaggwa that lost his ranks and was missing from 18^th of July until 20^th of June because he wore a T-Shirt with Amama Mbabazi.

After rallies in Jinja and Iganga on the 21^st of July, Dr. Kizza Besigye was supposed to have an interview on Radio Baba/87.7 Basogo Baino FM. Only minutes into it the transmitter for the radio station was turned off by the government. On the 8^th of August Dr. Kizza Besigye was not allowed to travel from his home and into a meeting at the American embassy in Kampala.

Even in Lira when FDC and Dr. Kizza Besigye had a rally in town. The police was all over town held the town under Siege the whole of 10^th of August. In Padre the day after the FDC wasn’t able to hold a decent rally in the 11^th of August the local police took the microphone from one of the FDC leaders holding it and Dr. Kizza Besigye wasn’t able to hold at the venue, instead the police went mad and trough tear-gas and beat the people attending. On the 14^th of August the Lord Mayor of Kampala DP Erias Lukwago was blocked to attending as a speaker on a seminar on the Makerere University.

Afterthoughts:

I have no plan of going into too deep waters with this time line. Since this is a picturesque and historical how the progression of the police and other institutions are going after the opposition parties and those who are going against him as the flag-bearer and presidential candidate in the NRM party. It’s obvious that it’s nearly daily for months now that the regime has tracked and gone against those who isn’t following the president and NRM regime, even if the comply to the rules and laws of the Public Order Mangement Bill/Act, still they will be incriminated or threaten and violate common sense with sending troops with tear-gas and beating people up for showing up to FDC rallies. Then also to top it all off they have without being judged in court taken people to custody for wearing a Team Amama Mbabazi shirt in Kampala. This should be seen as something foolish and not as actions of rule of law. The fear the president is spreading with his words and actions is astonishing.    

With being in this day and age we should expect of something else of our presidents and prime ministers. This is a leader he has been educated back in the day, though seem to forget the lessons he had learned there. In his thesis written about Frantz Fanon he wrote: “The process of creating the subjective conditions is as hard as the organising of revolution itself. However, it can be accelerated by various devices. The most important thing is to win confidence of the masses. It is necessary for all the local cadres or ‘terrainers’ as they sometimes called, indeed for all the activists that seek to enlist support of the masses, to lead a pure, exemplary and, most preferably, ascetic life. The person seduce peasents’ wives or daughters, will never win the confidence of the masses. Though personal example, political propaganda – in the simplest language about the simple and, to begin with, parochial problems – and through demonstrating the power of the people vis-à-vis the enemy, the cadres are able to create the subjective conditions, a fully and politically conscious people, that are indispensable for the revolution” (Museveni, 1971).

When he could write this and stand behind this words while being a student and seeing how he comes with force and fear now. His mind can’t be the same as it was. We should expect something else from somebody that makes the population either eat the fear or he actually never won “the confidence of the masses”. The president has surely forgotten these words while he stated in his speeches and outlets during start of his campaign for Uganda Presidential Election in 2016. That the Police Spokesman is saying that people don’t have the right to take down posters from the walls. He should already know that it’s not right how he speaks and acts. Generals are even afraid of him. Even quoted some members of the MPs who feels the same when he is around! So he is not the example he supposed to be anymore. So if the people are politically conscious they should by his own-old-selves be able to brush his fears off, right?          

And also the speeches and daily acts against opposition should be addressed by bigger multilateral institutions and nations so that this “so called” and “multiparty democracy” isn’t really an actual state of affairs the country and republic of Uganda should be proud of. The way that the NRM regime is hurting its radios and newspapers, how it goes against the FDC leaders and certain DP leaders. Even though who’s has become independent and not dependent on the “Mzee” or the President of Museveni. It’s the same natural and calm level of fear that the president Museveni are both speaking in his speeches and acting out with the UPF and the UPDF. If this is his way to regain his popular stance somebody or even a presidential advisor! The Presidential Advisor should ask him behind closed doors “have you lost the plot?”
