“Let us put the country first and not push self-interests. Let us remain the peace loving emaSwati we are known to be” – His Majesty King Mswati III (04.02.2022).
Today, the King Mswati III is spelling it all out and he really wants to pin his peasants down. That is very clear by what he said about the activists, the citizens and the ones who wants democratic representation in the Kingdom. The King is clearly not willing to budge and just want to have peace.
He speaks of amendments, but the absolute monarch doesn’t seem to will or want to give away his total power. King Mswati III wouldn’t use the authorities and the state agencies in his favour. Because, that is what he does … and he cannot run away from that.
It is really striking that his using the Sibaya as an example of talks and dialogue. When that is just a prefixed enterprise for his own benefit and a publicity stunt. Not like he has listened to the demonstrators, the stakeholders or the civilians for that matter. No, he is just running around like the blood-thirsty tyrant he is.
“We ended the year with elements of division among the populace. This will not help the country move forward. As emaSwati we have a way of engagement, which is to sit down and dialogue. We now have a constitution that is a product of national consultation and it also prescribes how to go about making amendments where the need arises. We should not sway from this route. It provides that recommended changes to the constitution can start at Sibaya, which is the ultimate decision making body of our people, then taken to Parliament for adoption and promulgated into law. We discourage the use of force and violence to influence change as we all deserve to live in peace. It is not a crime to have diverging views but engaging in dialogue creates a better outcome for all, as every person needs advice from time to time” (His Majesty King Mswati III, 04.02.2022).
He speaks of moving forward and having dialogue. However, the dialogue isn’t possible and able to reach any conclusion. When it is steered by the almighty and his majesty, which doesn’t open up doors or even considers the other side. That’s because they want him either to step-down or abdicate, as his not willing to give the public their own representatives.
At this very moment and time, the only representatives who are there is appointees and people who is in favour of the King. The Members of Parliament or High Ranking Officials are all his men. That is why the people are demonstrating and wanting a system run by civilians who is elected and represents them. Right now…
Every single state official, cabinet member or parliamentarian is there, because the King appointed them. Therefore… they are not representing the people. We know the Sibaya didn’t deliver anything, but only swayed a few international dignitaries that the King did something.
Alas… King Mswati III can speak of peace, but he should silence his gun. Stop arresting dissidents and people fighting for a just cause, which is hurting his pride and ego. That is what he does… and the ones who acts with defiance against him … are clearly damaging his calm.
The king should listen to his peasants or as he see them as his subjects. However… don’t expect him to do so. He got two ears, but these are constantly shut, while he has no trouble running his mouth. Peace.
The absolute monarch and with all power shouldn’t fear a civilian. Neither should that King strike hard on any voice calling for his downfall. Since, he has the army and the appointees all bending knees to him. There is nothing in Eswatini, which isn’t under influence or control of the King.
Except for the movements, parties and civilian organization working for democratic representation, which the King is against. That’s why he has used fatal force and the state monopoly of violence against them. This to silence the ones who is defiant against him. The King is taking this personally and that’s why he even strikes down towards a student leader.
Just read this report:
“MBABANE: King Mswati has jailed Colani Maseko, an influential students leader who called for his removal from the Throne” (…) “Maseko, a student at the Nazarene University in Manzini about forty(40) kilometers from the capital city, Mbabane urged the King in his various public address, to surrender power. ”We want remind Mswati that under a democratic government, the Monarchy will not exist”, said the Students Union leader” (Zweli Martin Dlamini – ‘Eswatini dictator jails students leader who called for his removal from the Throne’ 02.02.2022, Swaziland News).
The King should be a bigger man, but his a vengeful man. A man of revenge and retaliation. That’s why his government has gone after students and activists. This is why his government has said the ones doing industrial action or protest could face trouble later. As the state would sanction them and go after their reputation for life, as the school protests caused a public stir last year.
Therefore, the King going after a Student Leader who wants his downfall. Only shows the reason for why the public sentiment is the way it is. The King could have been a symbol and a leader of which enacted laws for democratic representation. While still being King, but more as a symbol and a guiding star of a state. However, he instead prefers the despotic manner and total control of the state.
This is why the Student leader doesn’t believe in a King and a Democracy, as he has only seen the tyrant king and not a beloved monarch who servers the state as an equal and as a person who represents the ideals of the Kingdom. Alas, it makes sense for a student leader to ask for fall of a man like that. Because, another type of king would have been respected and honoured, as the king would have listened and understood the sentiment.
However, King Mswati is willing to kill own citizens for a ritual. Therefore, his not the sort of man who respects people’s free will or rights as citizens. He don’t care as long as he is carrying the crown and sits as the absolute monarch on the throne. That’s all that matters to him and these sorts of arrests only justifies the call for a righteous leader as head of state, and not him. Peace.
As the Prime Minister Cleopas Sipho Dlamini was appointed by King Mswati III in July 2021, as he was a Senator and not from the House of Representatives. Therefore, by a technicality … he shouldn’t be in office or have accepted the office of which the King deemed him fit for. As it is in breach of the constitution. The PM and the political leader on the merits of the King wasn’t designated from the right part of the national assembly.
As reported in Swaziland News:
“Section 67(1) of the Constitution suggests that the King shall appoint the Prime Minister from members of the House. However, Mswati violated the Constitution and went on to appoint Dlamini from Senate. “The King shall appoint the Prime Minister from among members of the House acting on recommendation of the King’s Advisory Council”, reads the Constitution in part. But the PM, when addressing journalists on Friday urged pro-democracy activists to follow the Constitution when advocating for change. “We have the Constitution in this country, whatever we do, we must be guided by it”, said the Prime Minister” (Zweli Martin Dlamini – ‘Eswatini unconstitutionally appointed Prime Minister tells pro-democracy activists to follow the Constitution’ 22.01.2022, Swaziland News).
When his telling pro-democracy activists to follow the laws and the constitution. He should be careful with all of his actions and moves. As the King can easily target him and go after him. Just like the PM and the state has targeted the MPs who has fought for a representative democracy in the Kingdom.
The king has viciously and demonstratively used force against people. Where he has taken action and killed people to prove a point. The man in the highest office and absolute monarch can decide everything. He can elect, select and appoint anyone. The PM is just living on borrowed time in office. If he is becoming hostile or starts to question the King. The PM will be disgracefully discharged and be punished accordingly too. As his just another subject.
That’s what the PM should worry about. The Pro-Democracy Activists has nothing to loose. Not look the Representatives or the appointed government officials represents them. No, they represent the needs of the King and his Court. That is the mere reality here ….
Therefore, if the PM is principal about the Constitution, which he wants others to follow. He should be an example and publicly resign from his post. The PM wasn’t appointed properly and he should negate the problematic appointment of himself. If other people should follow the constitution, the PM should do accordingly as well.
Not that I anticipate anything from the PM. He only said this to act righteous and be morally superior. However, his just another useful fools of the King and he just don’t see it himself. The moment he hits a nerve or bares to insult the King. Expect the whole career and all achievements to be put into the storm-drain. That is the mere reality and the PM clearly cannot see that. Peace.
