The Ghost of Kabila haunts Tshisekedi to this day…

There has never been a fraudulent arrangement between Kabila and me, I won the 2018 elections. Anyone who says the opposite must provide proof” – President Felix Tshisekedi (20.09.2023).

That President Tshisekedi wanted to lie to the press in New York isn’t surprising. Especially since his gearing up to his second elections and as an incumbent. This is why he has sound victorious and great. Even if that was far from the case in the 2018 elections and he only got into office by bargaining with the outgoing President Joseph Kabila.

That’s why the FCC-CACH Accord came into existence. It was a way of letting go, but also keeping the new President in check. Kabila have been around, but his party has addressed affairs in due time. The UDPS has tried to muffle with everyone and consolidate power after taking over. That’s why insiders has been arrested and people with influence has lost their offices. This has been a way of Tshisekedi to boost his achievements and prove the naysayers.

This being the “Sacred Union”, the arrest of Vital Kamerhe or Jean Kabund-Kabund. It is just so obvious why he did so in his first term. Not only to show who was the man in CACH, but also to strike “fear” in the FCC. As he knew he needed the alliances and the accord to be able to get into office.

It is not like Felix Tshisekedi was popular around the nation. His father was more respected then he ever was. The UPDS was seen as a firebrand opposition and not a governing party. It is why it was a feat that he was able to negotiate and get the highest office in the Republic.

With this in mind, in 2023 Tshisekedi wants to distance himself from the 2019 agreement. That agreement would bound his words and abilities. He traded something in 2019, which might be costly this time around. The FCC-CACH wouldn’t have let things slide or let go; if there wasn’t something in it.

Tshisekedi might act a fool or act like this never happened. Regardless of what he thinks… Kabila is lurking in his shadow and had a long-con planned. The traps was set in motion and even as Tshisekedi looked stronger during his term. By arresting and getting his “house” in order. It still remains a fact that his in the mercy of Kabila.

Kabila had the leverage and the power. Tshisekedi inherited it, but he also is bound by the accord or agreement he signed off on. An agreement that in its totality haven’t been released. Though the gist or the ideals of it has been public by communiques from the parties.

The parties of the FCC-CACH agreement should go together ahead of the elections. Especially if they want the status quo to continue. We can wonder if Tshisekedi promised to step down or anything. Nevertheless, that we will never know. Unless the FCC is releasing the document and spoiling the party for the President.

A President that has worked tirelessly to be his own man. However, his always the puppet of Kabila. Even if he acts independent and as a Head of State. He knows why his in office and who gave him a chance. The President will say the people and the ballots did. Nevertheless, it was Kabila that gave him a chance and now his distancing himself.

The ghost will return and Tshisekedi don’t know who he is messing with. That can become not only a hurdle, but a setback, which he was never mentality prepared for. Peace.
