Sudan: Sudan Central Doctors Committee – Urgent (14.03.2022)

Processions of millions of detainees in the three cities of Khartoum state are subjected to excessive repression with live bullets, birdshot and tear gas, in addition to sound and rubber bombs.

In the meantime, state hospitals are receiving dozens of injuries with live bullets and shotguns in the head and chest, some of them are critical and their condition may require hypnosis in intensive care rooms or urgent surgical intervention.

The coup forces of all kinds do not hesitate to export violence to our people in this deadly way in order to protect tyrants whose first concern is to steal the people’s wealth and impose on them a state of restricting freedoms and pensions.

We warn the coup authority against continuing this hostile approach against the masses of our people, and we promise that we will unite with our partners in the forces of the revolution to bring down this coup by all means of peaceful and tested resistance.

Sudan: Forces of Freedom and Change – Statement on the crimes of the coup d’état against the peaceful marches of March 10 and civilians in Mount Mon (11.03.2022)

Our brave people;

The victorious processions of March 10, 2022, were met with brutality and violence, as the forces of the coup d’état proceeded to harness their live ammunition and purchased tear gas canisters.

From the pockets of taxpayers and from the levies that are imposed on our rebellious people who are suffering very complicated economic conditions, two martyrs rose to prayer for them with prayers for mercy and forgiveness, and dozens of revolutionaries and free revolutionaries were injured, we ask God for their speedy recovery.

The Jebel Moon region in West Darfur has also witnessed brutal attacks on unarmed citizens that began since last Sunday and is still continuing, which, according to a statement issued by the West Darfur State Doctors Committee, claimed dozens of deaths and injuries, in a continuation of the violent incidents that the region witnessed since November of the year last.

The authority in Khartoum did not move towards what is happening there.

Our great people;

We in the Executive Office of the Forces of Freedom and Change appreciate the astonishing courage of our people in resisting the arrogance of the brutal coup authority, and we see that the justifications for defeating the putschists, opportunists and remnants of the former regime have become full-fledged, and that the overthrow of their worn-out authority and the crushing victory of aspirations, our honourable people are looming on the horizon, and despite our appreciation for the efforts of the African Union and the United Nations envoy to find solutions to get the Sudanese scene out of the state of acute political tension created by the coup of the twenty-fifth of October 2022 AD, the reality of the situation confirms that the coup authority does not care about calls to create the climate, which puts a question mark about the fate of these efforts and initiatives, and we affirm that we are on the path to achieving the goals and noble aspirations of our people in defeating totalitarianism, overthrowing the October 25 coup, and completing the process of civil democratic transformation under a purely civil authority.

Long live our people free and victorious

Sudan: Forces of Freedom and Change (FFC) – Executive Office – Urgent statement (28.02.2022)

The Sudanese revolution demonstrated once again its ability to defeat the repressive coup machine, by successfully overcoming the excessive repression in Khartoum and reaching the Republican Palace today, February 28, 2020.

The coup forces brutally confronted the dispersal of the gathering of revolutionaries in front of the palace and at the same time exerted their utmost repression in both Bahri and Omdurman against the peaceful revolutionaries.. He rose as a result of the bloody repression as a martyr in Omdurman, in addition to dozens of wounded.

There is no retreat from the path of peaceful struggle to defeat the coup and restore the path of civil democratic transformation.. The leaders of the coup must submit to the will of this people.

Whatever the case, the united will of the people will triumph.

Sudan: Statement on the Release of UNITAMS Summary Report on its Consultations for a Political Process for Sudan (28.02.2022)

The military coup of 25 October 2021 constituted a significant setback in realizing the goals to be achieved during the transitional period in Sudan.

KHARTOUM, Sudan, February 28, 2022 – In 2019, the victory of the Sudanese revolution and its slogans of freedom, peace and justice provided a unique and inspiring example for the world over. It was the unprecedented courage of the Sudanese youth, women and men in their continuous struggle to liberate from dictatorship, which opened the door to a new future in Sudan, in which the problems of the past would be addressed, and the Sudanese state would be rebuilt on the foundations of civility and democracy that its people aspire to. The United Nations was committed from the first moment to go hand in hand with the people of Sudan on this journey, and to provide all possible support and assistance in the journey of democratization, reform and reconstruction that the Sudanese people aspire to in the transitional period that followed the victory of the revolution.

Accordingly, on 3 June 2020, and in response to the direct request of the civilian-led transitional Government of Sudan, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 2524 (2020), established the UN Integrated Transition Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), a special political mission to provide support to Sudan during its political transition to democratic rule.

The military coup of 25 October 2021 constituted a significant setback in realizing the goals to be achieved during the transitional period in Sudan.  However, we remain hopeful that the Sudanese people will be able to restore the path of transition towards civil and democratic transformation, benefiting from the experiences of the past and focusing on the promises of the future.

On 8 January 2022, following the resignation of Prime Minister Hamdok after various unsuccessful domestic initiatives to restore the constitutional order, UNITAMS launched a political process that started with initial consultations with a wide range of Sudanese stakeholders to address the current political impasse and develop a path towards democracy and peace. The report that we present today represents a summary of the opinions and areas of convergence and divergence heard by the mission during 110 consultation meetings with over 800 participants – one third of them women – from various parts of Sudan, as well as those contained in over 80 written submissions. This report will help in formulating and designing the next stage of the process in order to break the current political impasse. Such an outcome can only be Sudanese-made and Sudanese-owned in order to succeed.

Although this report may disappoint those who expected a solution from the UN, the objective of this process remains to support a Sudanese solution towards emerging from the current political crisis towards realizing the goals of their revolution. However, a prominent outcome of the report is that despite variances in opinions, there were several areas of consensus. Most consultees identified similar points of concern emerging from the recent past. We identified areas of consensus and divergences between the different interlocutors we have consulted. These reflect the views of Sudanese participants. The UN has no position on these views and opinions, but they will assist through the next stages of the political process.

The United Nations remains committed to supporting a civilian-led democratic government as the ultimate objective of the transitional period in Sudan, as per its mandate. We are likewise guided by the principles of the Organization, including respect for human rights and the centrality of women and youth participation in a political process.

In “Our Common Agenda” Report of September 2021, Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed the unequivocal commitment of the United Nations “to promote respect for democracy and human rights, and to enhance democratic governance and the rule of law by strengthening transparent and accountable governance and independent judicial institutions.” This puts the aspirations that the Sudanese people wish to achieve at the heart of the future global agenda. I assure the Sudanese that they will not walk alone. We will be working side-by-side with our international and regional partners – particularly the African Union and IGAD – in the coming phase, to push the political process forward with the participation of all Sudanese actors in order to restore the path of civil and democratic transformation in Sudan. Satisfying the aspirations of Sudan’s people and realizing the slogans of their 2019 revolution are our ultimate objectives.

Sudan: Hemeti seeks a stronger Russian bilateral support for the RSF

Hemetti-led Rapid Support Forces (RSF) have already established strong cooperation with Wagner a private paramilitary force close to the Kremlin. The RSF leader, however, ambitions to get more Russian weapons for his militiamen. Moscow seeks to consolidate relations with the Sudanese military rulers and to convince them to implement a 25-year agreement to establish a logistical and technical support base on the Red Sea for the Russian Navy. Last December, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan Head of the Sovereign Council said the agreement, signed with the former regime, was still under review. But, al-Burhan expressed hope that its implementation would consolidate bilateral relations between the two countries” (Sudan Tribune – ‘Sudan’s Hemetti supports Russian recognition of separatist Ukrainian regions’ 24.02.2022).

Just as the warfare is happening in Europe. The Deputy Head of the Transitional Sovereign Council General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo aka Hemeti or Hemetti visited Russia on the 23rd February as he also did support Russian actions towards Ukraine in the separatist regions. This shows that he treasures the Russian friendship and alliance. As they are trading partners and supplying arms to the Rapid Support Force in Sudan.

That the Sudanese leaders does this now. Shows their friendship and where they are seeking aid. As they know these are preoccupied with conflict elsewhere. Since they can get the needed arms support and aid, which differs any embargo or freezing of accounts. Alas, it is a way of sophisticated getting in and around other Western responses to usage of force against civilians and protesters against the military government in Sudan.

Hemeti is also strengthening his own power and ability. As the RSF will become stronger and have better arms in the near future. While they are ensure trading of illicit minerals and other exports, which secures the Transitional Sovereign Council funds. This is both helping Russia in the possible hits of sanctions from the West. As it has a trading partner and ability to export certain goods from Sudan. Therefore, what is being done here is a practical support of the war-effort in Europe by Sudanese government. That’s a decision, which both parties have done in this current time.

War-Lords prefers to talk and make agreements with other war-lords. The proof of that is with Hemeti and Putin. These two are alike, but from different continents. What Putin is doing to Ukraine. Hemeti has done his efforts within Sudan for years and especially Darfur. While trading arms to Tchad as well. Therefore, this isn’t new, but shows what sort of character Hemeti is.

This here shows the crude actions of both parties and why we cannot expect men like Hemeti will be helpful to a transition to a civilian government. As his in this to strengthen his own capabilities and forces.

So, Hemeti didn’t travel to Russia out of charity, but out of a beneficial interests of both parties. To trade and get arms. That gives him more power in Sudan. Peace.
