Besigye is free, but I got a strange feeling…

Besigye High Courts 12.07.2016

“Do not fear them, this is our country” – Dr. Kizza Besigye

A hunch, a smidge of interest and a worry as this is a sign of what to come. This is not a token of goodwill from the state, the state under President Museveni will continue to pound on Dr. Kizza Besigye; something he has done so frequently since he left the NRM back-in-the-day. The 100 Million bonds from High Court proves that State Officials and the Government backed sanctions we’re a façade, a high rise with empty rooms and not a functioning building.

Today is a weird day, supposed to be celebrating, but parts of me is feeling that the Courtships and harassment will thrive, as his stage and place is countering the legitimacy of under the current leadership. It’s the true color of smacking the fist to the table and feeling the pain of actually doing so. I am supposed to be happy that the Nobel politician and freedom fighter is released after months behind bars in Luzira Maximum Prison on phony charges, I should be happy that Judge Wilson Musalu Musene gave him a hefty bail. Still the Treason Charge is still on him and not entirely free, he still have to fight the case, one court date at the time every second week starting 26th of July 2016. So the Government and Lawyers and State Prosecution is still working on the matter and finalizing the evidence of the conspiracy.

Besigye Heroes welcome

Why we know that authorities does in these occasions by now:

“A traffic gridlock is building up in Kampala Central District for the second day running. Several roads leading to and around the high court in the heart of Kampala have again been closed by the police ahead of the ruling on the bail application” (88.2 Sanyu FM, 12.07.2016). As there are even reports after the hearing and the scheduled driving home through Central Kampala as people wanted to greet the battled politician who we’re driving home, the Police had to beat on the public to get them away from the car and the areas surrounding it. The famous “Koboko Squad” they are nicknamed.

The truth for matter it is, the house in Kasangati, just by pictures of his release home. Proves that Kasangati Police Force have been put in regard of the situation and I am sure that Police Commander James Kawalya are prepared with all the tools as his disposal, as they would not totally grant his freedom, even if the General Election is over and the “Business as Usual”. Though they, the NRM and President Museveni have the problem of legitimate rule as long as Besigye is around and questioning them.

What sure will happen on one point is that his staged freedom from the Government, will become so much that he will detain him at Naggalama Police Station or Kiira Road Police Station, before the sunrise that particular day as the nuances of crowds and cheering public when he passes by, just as seen today. The friction between the public and the police are also vivid as the second nicknamed police “Kifeesi Police” is around and violating their rights as there are beating and harassing citizens who comes to greet the People’s President.

Besigye Kasangati 12.07.2016

We can now ask ourselves, in honest approach, even with a little happiness as the waiting for his release from unsolicited detention as a suspect of treason. What will be the next verdict and the next way for the government to torment the man and arch-nemesis of Museveni? Because it is about time and effort from the Executive to take man down and trying to break, even if it has failed a hundred times already.

I wish it would not happen and that true justice would prevail, if so the man would be residing and be the man who runs the State House at Nakasero and in Entebbe. But alas that is not the equation right now, as the stolen country and stolen funds are in the hands of gun-loving President who has no fear and no quarrel to lie and deceive to keep the power he remains. The question just happen to be, by what force and to what extent does the Police Force and Army plan to continue their Post-Election Modus Operandi and to what degree?

He has his momentary freedom back and greeted by his supporters, but for how long. How long will the authorities, accept the conundrum and let it be. What will the Army infused NRM do to the greatest dissidents and his loyal cadres? That they haven’t already done and what level of oppression against the already hard-battled and destructive political games from the Executive? We can just question, but in the next few days the picture will be clear, and the obvious result is that somewhere will Besigye be behind bars and inside a Police Station, while waiting to be sanctioned his God given freedom, yet again. Peace.

The People’s President produced in Nakawa Court yet again; for his trial date for the ‘treason’ charge against him

Nakawa 29.06.2016 P1

Today another day the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) former Presidential Candidate we’re actually produced in Nakawa Court for his conduct during the Campaign and Post-Election period. Where the State and the Republic of Uganda, acts of treason have occurred, like a wildflower spring in the midst of house-arrest and detained for existing in Uganda and driving in the notorious van to Naggalama Police Station in Mukono.

Nakawa 29.06.2016 P3

The reality of today is that he was in court addressing his own concern and trial of the charge of treason. Not with lawyers or spokesmen for him. As the FDC supporters and many of the leadership we’re not allowed in, as certain of the leadership as before we’re arrested before arriving. Ingrid Turinawe was arrested at Spear Motors as she was addressing the media. As well as Joram Kyenjojo Mwesige and Davis Kamutima also got detained before arriving towards the court today; together the trio we’re all posted today by the Police Force at the Jinja Road Police Station. Another who also was arrested the Spear Motors was the newly elected MP Hon. Geoffrey Ekanya.

Before the trial at the Nakawa Court the Police Commander and the Police Officers went brutally on the media and even beating the camera-men and journalist who was covering the trial as Besigye arrived and came into the area. For instance one of the journalists assaulted by the police we’re Daily Monitor’s Abubakar Lubowa. The Police commander in charge of today’s brutal events we’re Siraj Bakaleke.

Nakawa 29.06.2016 P2

The words of Besigye as the trial stated the effect of being in prison and the way the charges been put, as the favorable for the Police and not for him as a citizen. As he said: “He thought he was innocent until he was proven guilty, but prison authorities are already treating him like he is guilty”. As he also said on his campaign that has been a torn in the government flesh: “The struggle continues. Encourage our people not to lose hope. If I get bail, the defiance campaign will resume immediately”.

As Lord Mayor Lukwago stated later today:

“The State, that has always treated Dr. Besigye as a terrorist, shamelessly reneged on their earlier commitment to wind up their investigations before today’s court sitting. We hope the Magistrate will be assertive on the issue of our brother’s rights when he visits Luzira prisons early next week, as he has undertaken. It’s also our prayer that the High Court will expeditiously dispose off the bail application fixed for 6th July, in case it’s not Eid day” (Erias Lukwago, 29.06.2016).

Nakawa 29.06.2016 P4

With this in mind, the Police Force have adjourning the Treason Case for yet another trial date until the 13th July, where the Police and the State will continue where they left off and continue the charade of masquerade of lawfulness in the matter. While Besigye is still lingering as suspect of foul behavior against the republic as the common criminal he is it seems, and not the opposition leader and people’s president. The reality of the matter is that this is stalling until stop caring about the rigged election and wants to move on, just like Gen. Mugisha Muntu spoke of late. The reasoning for the trial is that he hasn’t done anything and the state cannot produce the evidence and create it, it will not fly in court, just as the witnesses in other cases of the recent weeks where the contradictory statements and witnesses together with weak tea from the preceding judges. The truth will come onto the surface and hit the state with a rock. They cannot silence the men of reason and rule of law, against the one-man rule of Mzee. Peace.

“Shock at the kasangati court as a police officer testifying against Dr. Kiiza Besigye fails to corroborate his earlier testimony with the recorded video he produced in court to pin Dr. Kiiza Besigye on his defiance case. The officer’s evidence a video detailing incidents said to describe Besigye’s disobedience came under tight objection after it contradicted with the police statement he recorded earlier implying the video may have been edited” (NBS TV Uganda, 2016)

Kizza Besigye at Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court 15 June 2016 (Full) – (Youtube-Clip)

Dr. Kizza Besigye appeared before the Nakawa Chief Magistrates Court on 15th June 2016 to hear a ruling on whether the treason case against him would be heard in Luzira Prison Court instead of Nakawa Chief Magistrates as the state had wished. Nakawa Magistrates Court Chief Magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda dismissed the application by the prosecution to have the mention of Kizza Besigye’s treason case transferred to Luzira prison court house.  Chief Magistrate James Ereemye Mawanda also ruled that prosecution’s claims that the former FDC presidential candidate’s security is at risk are hearsay and not supported by any evidence.  The Chief Magistrate said the mention of Besigye’s case should proceed at Nakawa until the Chief Justice decides otherwise. The matter was adjourned to the 29th June and the file in this case has been called by the High court to have Besigye’s right to bail considered. During the proceedings Dr. Kizza Besigye also listed a number of concerns he had about the conduct of his case up to that point and he pleaded with court to heed to his concerns about having a fair and judicious trial” (NTV Uganda, 2016).
