Brexit: Statement from HM Government (06.07.2018)

Brexit: 46 Tories MPs letter to PM Theresa May on “pro-enterprise policies” (05.07.2018)

Toyota explains the Trump Administration: How damaging the tariffs are on the Auto Industry!

Just as the letter is leaked from Stephen Ciccone, Group Vice President of Government Affairs within the Toyota Motor North America INC, who had written this leaked letter to the Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross. Who has defended the tariffs on steel and aluminum, which has been on the European Union and NAFTA trading partners.

The reason why this letter is interesting, is because what he reveals, that the Government and Trump Administration will not reveal. The cost of the tariffs will be in jobs in the United States and also for the consumers. The most popular car produced by Toyota, the Toyota Camry with 30 % Foreign Parts, will be costing $ 1,800 more. The company has translated the cost, if the companies put the cost and compensation on the consumers. It would be 25%, an estimated loss of sales because of it could be up 2 million units or 10 % annually. If these numbers are true, than the Trump Administration are not only destroying imports, but local production and car-sales in general. That all because of the tariffs on these set-fixated goods, which is used to produce cars.

Therefore, these tariffs made are directly as the Toyota Company in the United States through the whole chain from factory to the consumer are around 470,000 people hired through the chain. While the manufacturing piece alone is 137,000 in 10 factories (soon 11). They are in Kentucky, Indiana, Mississippi, Texas, California, Alabama, Missouri, Tennessee, Michigan and West Virginia. So it is not like this is just hitting the favorable blue-states, which the Republicans hate. This would hit in the middle of the rust-belts and heartland f the Trump Voter.

Toyota Motor has really put themselves strategically in the United States, as well as put themselves in the midst of ironic territory. As they are in the areas where the President got the most support and also has the strongest loyalty, even as they are not serving the principals of the trade. The cost will be taken by the same people who voted him in and the added cost will be on the voters themselves. Either in lose of jobs in manufacturing, if not in lack of sales as people cannot afford to buy as many cars as they could before. That is not weird as the wages in the United States has been stagnant for so long. Therefore, the rise of prices combined with lack of surging wages, they cannot manage to afford the luxury of new cars, even used ones.

Just imagine the sudden rise of 25% on each imported car and also close to 2 Grands more expensive Camry. That will be costly for plenty of people. That is not mere cents on the can of beans as Wilbur Ross did on TV after the tariffs was made public. This here is much more costly and actually affect as many as 470,000 people in the United States. That is only in Toyota, what about the all American General Motors or FORD? Who knows how they will be hurt or how much added cost this will have on the consumer? Even how many people in their production chain from manufacturing to the consumer will be hurt by these efforts made by the state?

If Toyota is sending this warning and show the real affects on the economy by doing so. In just one company, what will it do to the whole industry and also the possible outcome of the provisions made by the tariff. That should be striking, but wisdom is rare in this administration. They are not concern with other, than their own pride and deluded acts of ignorance. This is destroying industry, not creating or salvaging anything.

Toyota is sending a signal to the Trump Administration, but will they care? No they won’t, unless they are Russian Oligarchs or Putin’s henchmen in the US. Peace.

The European Council plans to move more migration management outside its borders!

The European Council in the draft note before the next general meeting. Is establishing mechanisms, which would ensure that less tries to cross the oceans to get to safe harbour in Europe. This by both giving financial aid possibly and make the Border States have settlements of asylum-seekers and whatnot.

“The European Council will also strengthen EU external instruments on migration in the context of the negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework, in particular so as to ensure effective cooperation with countries of origin and transit. To this end, the external components of the internal, border, asylum and migration funds should include a dedicated external migration management window specifically geared towards stemming irregular migration flows” (Council of the European Union – European Council meeting (28 June 2018) – Draft conclusions -8147/18, 19.06.2018).

This is really nasty stuff, that the European Union continues to purge like this and with these methods. Actually, making sure the refugees and asylum-seekers are stationed in Libya, Morocco, Tunisia, Egypt and everything else bordering at sea towards Europe. There is lack of heart and with intent of shattering people’s dreams of possible refuge. That is what this is.

They are planning external migration management to stop the flow of people crossing into their borders. That means an invisible wall with functions and mechanisms stopping the ones trying to seek refuge. Just think about that, the sovereign states on the borders are bushwhacked by the EU and also most likely pushed by the funds their way as a bargain. Both parties with no consideration of the implications on the lives on the ones fleeing war-zones and civil-wars, famine or any sort of disaster that are creating all the reasons for fleeing on humanitarian grounds. Still, the EU will use these states as buffers and shield itself from people coming.

We can all see with this, the precious and deep scars, the evidence of control and also extending boundaries, just so, the ones in need cannot cross into refuge. They cannot get shelter or hope for the future, but live in oblivion, outcast in their own homeland and not welcome at the destination either. It is just a sad story of our time and the lack of compassion within the leadership of our representatives as well. Peace.

Brexit dividend is hogwash at its best!

We know that Prime Minister Theresa May and the Conservative Party wants the best outlook and the favorable view of the withdrawal from the European Union. However, their whole flawed negotiations and the parameter of agreements shows their neglect, more than winning when concerning the days after being a Member State within the EU. That is all forgotten, this has been shown with the dreamland approach to the Customs Union, Migrations and the trade agreements in general. The lack of policies and openness makes the uncertainty even more dire.

It is like the Tories plans to wing it and fix it after the Titanic hit the iceberg. Hope they can save the passengers and the ones on board without having a general plan for any sort of evacuation or sinking itself. That is evident as every day has gone from the ballots cast at the referendum. They haven’t shown signs of certainty or anything really, that is why Businesses has warned the government, businesses have moved to Dublin or even Germany. Manufacturing businesses started to move to other EU Countries, even Land Rover being produced in Eastern Europe to secure the tariffs to the EU Common Market. If that isn’t dire, the loss of jobs and therefore, also the revenue of the production. Will hit the government. But they don’t want to talk about that.

That is why the Tories and PM May is speaking positive about the Brexit Dividend, as the lack of paying to EU projects and EU organizations will save the government so much money, as they are maybe even forgetting the money that is going to EU sponsored infrastructure projects and educations sector. However, that is maybe not in May’s calculation. Who knows at this point right? It is all spinning the wheel and hoping no-one looks into it.

The Tories should be horrified of the situation they have put businesses in, the population and the uncertainty of what they are getting out of it. There so many warning signs, and so much business already moving and sparking messages that they are planning to do so. Because they are worried about capital, tariffs and also their possible transfer of goods between the UK and the rest of EU. None of this is certain. Maybe the UK get less free-market, but also less open borders when concerning people. But the reaction from the EU will be less friendly trading partner and that will hit the banks and corporations. The City of London might lose it power in Europe, as that moves to Frankfurt and even Dublin. That must hurt the pride of UK. The sun isn’t setting on an empire, but a sinking ship.

A sinking ship they themselves put on fire and saying everything is fine and dandy. The UK has played themselves for fools and now only getting uncertainty. That is what outsiders are seeing and weird that the UK are accepting this. They are going to get hurt by the Brexit, whether they like it or not. There isn’t any signs that shows otherwise. As the ramification on production, industry and businesses, the ones generating revenue are under fire and the bonfires are not put out. Instead, the Tories are hoping no one notice.

Theresa May might promise more to the problematic NHS, but then the taxes has to grow, the people will be more taxed. As the revenue from the corporations and businesses will go down. As the Customs Union, the issues of lack of trading policies and the reaction of becoming third country and trade as that. Will not make the change friction-less, but instead hurt the economy and the windfall be costly for the population.

Therefore, the UK should be wiser, but not anticipate it. The Tories are busy scheming and lying, trying to configure components and trying to foolishly spin the reality. Without showing the reality, that is why the leaks of possible damage of the Brexit took so long. The Department tried to keep them to themselves, because they knew these numbers would hurt the cause. That is why David Davis and others in the Tories wanted to keep all information to not show the reality to the public. Because they knew that this was an issue and would likely make the citizens afraid of leaving.

The United Kingdom citizens should ask for openness and transparency, as the state have tried to not show the reality for months and since the referendum. That shouldn’t be the state of affairs, and that is why the uncertainty is there. Combined with the lack clear policies and willingness to show what sort of exit the UK wants. As they have moved back- and fourth. There been so much squabble and internal issues within the Tories alone. That the Brexiteers and the Remainers have made the negotiations and the EU uncertain of what the UK really wants. The EU have clear guidelines, but the UK want to make their own. Which will be impossible.

This saga is far from over, but the Tories will continue to spin, but not be caught in the hype. The losers are the public and the citizens, as the uncertainty only makes businesses and the manufacturing companies more certain of moving across the borders to safety. The Brexit Dividend is a forgery and will not become a reality. Only May and her Brexiteers believes that. Peace.

Brexit: House of Commons – Consideration of Lords Amendments – “The Unity Amendment”

Brexit: The UK will get a HARD Border with the EU!

The European Union has a rebuttal to the United Kingdom’s technical note on the Temporary Customs Arrangement with the EU, that they published on the 7th June 2018. Again, there are questionable things with the UK arrangement. As they are not properly prepared or have solutions to the new status of the Kingdom. That is weird that after so long working on leaving the EU, the UK still have no clue or at least delivering hackwork to the negotiating partner.

That is why some parts of the Technical Note from EU that was published today is critiquing the UK. They are really leaving nothing behind. Everything is criticized, they did this on the 8th June 2018 and published it today on the 11th June 2018. So the EU didn’t wait long to answer the UK.

What the UK lacks in their note is to explain this parts to the EU:

Customs

Duties, VAT and excise, trade policy, governance

Regulatory [no UK proposal]”

That the UK and the Tories have no explanation concerning the duties, VAT, excise, trade policy or even governance of the Customs Unions between them. That the duties of goods, the lack of explaining the VAT arrangement and general trade policy. This is all about how the UK as a third-party state to the EU will comply with the standards and also how they will tax the goods. How the labeling and the checking of the goods between the EU and the UK. That is the governance that is not explained. They have been working on this months and still have no clear indication of how the UK plans to this and what they are wanting to see.

There is no regulation or regulatory explanation of it. That is a real surprise, as this is tale of how the goods and the movement of products are supposed to adjust the new border requirement. The Customs will then follow standards and protocol of the papers, licenses and the general checks of the goods. The added duties, VAT and excise taxes as well. It is weird that the negotiating team of the UK haven’t delivered.

The EU Note is specific in the nature that the EU decision-making autonomy in Trade Policy and also Full EU Supervision and enforcement mechanisms, this means the UK has to follow both parts of the Trade Policy from the EU. That is if they want their goods to be fairly crossing into the Customs Union and the regulations they are following it. It is interesting and weird that the UK have no proposal for the regulatory devices of the customs arrangement between them. If that isn’t a failure, than nothing is.

The key ending of the arrangement from the technical note is this: “Does not cover regulatory controls, leading to a hard border”. So the softness of the UK will not have affect, the effect of the withdrawal will be hard, the price of leaving the Union will be hard. The border are most likely hard, as the proposals are either non-existing or not following the needs of the EU. This is something the negotiating team of UK should know. They cannot have the same arrangement as they have today, because they are not an member(wrote that a few times now, but it seem to be consistent with the nonsense the London offices gives to the world).

That is the impact the UK has to await themselves. Even Michel Barnier stated this on the 8th of June:

In all the UK papers that we have been receiving until now – which I read carefully with my team – there has been a request to maintain the status quo, a form of continuity, which is paradoxical seeing as the country decided itself to leave the European Union. The United Kingdom seems to want to maintain the benefits of the current relationship, while leaving the EU regulatory, supervision, and application framework. When we respond to UK leaders saying that these benefits are not accessible outside the EU system – because of their decision – some people in the UK try to blame us for the consequences of this. I simply want to say that we will not be swayed, I will not be swayed, by this blame game” (Press statement by Michel Barnier following this week’s round of negotiations, 08.06.2018).

The UK have stop sending their hob-knobs across Calais and send someone with a little common sense. They must be embarrassed, the people of United Kingdom should be shocked and in awe. Because their politicians are continuing to their future and their opportunities for a ride. The Tories Government should deliver safe customs union and policies, which fit with their new role with the EU. Instead, they are thinking it be worked out in the near future. United Kingdom and their businesses should worry about this, hard border because of laziness and lack of delivery to the negotiating team.

The only one losing big is the UK and not the EU. The EU are asking for certain things from the UK. Which the UK doesn’t even have and that puts the EU into a positions, where they have to make a HARD BORDER. Because their rules will not be changed by a outside entity like the UK. Peace.

Opinion: Trump impose tariffs on Steel & Aluminum from the EU, another proof that the world cannot trust the US anymore!

The world doesn’t need enemies, it already have Trump, President Trump. He doesn’t care and shows no tact, no mercy and no sort of dialogue. That is proven again. Now that he has over night decided to impose tariffs on Aluminum and Steel from the European Union (EU). It is like Trump wants the US to be alone in the world. That is what he is getting closer to every single day.

When your not making sure the friends of United States gets to trade with reasonable tariffs, then who do you let do that? Why does the United States think they are so special that they can hit another continent like nothing. This is just like they pulled out of the Paris Agreement on the Climate, as the US don’t want to part of the global fight against climate change. We also seen the US has pulled out of the Iran agreement, making things worse in the Middle East. That is done while the US Embassy was moved to Jerusalem and weapons delivered to Saudi Arabia. This is all decisions that makes the world more fragile and hits the nerves of the regions.

Now, the EU is imposed tariffs, which are done because of Trump’s imaginary vision of supremacy, instead he is losing end. As people knows with every day, they cannot trust the United States. Even Angela Merkel said that during April 2018. There is more and more proof, that the world cannot trust Trump and the US Government. It is erratic and unstable, it is a house of cards.

President Trump policies are short-sighted and without vision of consequences. The US will not salvage this industry, this will just make the products made with this more expensive before the industry get better sights and hired more educated people to work in the industry. You cannot just build steel mills over night and nether have the educated engineers like that too. This isn’t making copyrights on random products, this is actually producing and making them.

I don’t think that Trump knows this, he thinks of ancient ways and wants to be Cesar and rule everything without any consequences. But Trump should know that the EU will react to this, they will put reactionary tariffs on products and American goods valued the same as the industries they hit in the EU. So that the different partners are making sure the Americans get to feel it too.

The US should know, that all of this doesn’t make friends, but more people looking at them and mind boggling thinking. The US Government, we cannot trust or really count on. They are just using everyone and making sure the rest is hit. While the US wants to get away without any responsibility. But the reality will hit them, when the EU answers with imposing tariffs on US goods too. That would be a natural reaction. Hopefully hit a nerve with the President and his allies. Since that was what the EU planned in the past to answer it.

Let’s see how this goes. But it is not a good look. Only making things more hostile and letting the world know. The US cannot be trusted, they are misusing their position and will only make the global diplomacy harder. Peace.

Opinion: Theresa May lost so bad, that she has to beg for mercy from Belfast!

Today is a unique day, the General Election in the United Kingdom. That Theresa May herself ushered in and grinned while doing. She was confident because of the Conservative Party lead and support, that it would be walk-in-the-park to regain and strengthen her party before Brexit negotiations. Instead, she has fallen and bad. So bad she do not have majority in Parliament as she thought she was entitled to have. The public was not agreeing with her methods, neither was her campaign anything to run around the mill about and no one will say: “Well done lads”.

The winner is the opposition candidate and his party. That is Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and his campaign. A manifesto of progressive social welfare state ideas. That would support youth, health-care and build the state. He was moderate in tone, but progressive in stances and promises. It was something rare and neat. Corbyn deserves praise for his attitude amongst all the hatred, sceptics and pundits who expected him and his party to fall. The dominant problem was not the grass-root mobilization, but the Members of Parliament who has revolted against the man.

While Theresa May has been able to screw-up all on her own. Corbyn has built a party from scratch in some sense and used his connections in Unions to spark interest. To the amazement of the left, which May has sounded more and more alike. Part of me feels that she has more similar opinions of Nigel Farage, than of her old mate David Cameron and George Osborne. That is just me, I guess.

With this amazing defaulted campaign that has shattered the dreams of strong Conservative Party united to negotiate with European counterparts. Instead, she has belittle herself and has to ask for help. Not by just anyone, but the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP). She needs help from the DUP and their support to gain majority. Before the election, the mandate of the Conservative was strong enough on their own.

Now the help come from the London friendly Northern Irish. Just think about the shit-storm it would have been, if the Labour Party went into alliance with Sinn Fein (SF) or Scottish National Party (SNP). It would have created havoc and the world would have hassled the leadership of Labour. The world clocks would have stopped and the Tube in London would have gotten massive delays. However, since it is the Conservative and their needs, we all should just be merry.

Well, the handout of loyalists to London in Northern Ireland is all fine, but at what cost is it for the May government. Since, an arrangement of these sorts has to leeway for the alliance partner and not just for the show. That she says she will deliver a government for the ‘National Interest’ is bit weird, as the whole election was about her ego and her drive for total control. Something the voters has taken away. She will not get full majority, Theresa May needs support… the Tories cannot run alone.

If the Tories and May government hadn’t run this snap and quick elections, she would still been able to have majority and also have more power in the Brexit negotiations. Now she is weak, the tea isn’t strong. Corbyn and Labour has surged, because the Tories run on weak manifesto and worse campaign. May might be good to write legislation and be a Parliamentarian, but as a campaign leader she was unstable. The public saw this and the strength she didn’t show the public, as she even abstained from open and national televised debates. That was distasteful and showed arrogance to the public.

That also Liberal-Democratic Party (Lib-Dems) gotten more seats in Parliament. That Tories and SNP lost seats, shows how their workings has gone against them. That the Tories will defend their minority government in honor of the willing party DUP. The DUP as of now will decide what they deserve for being the king-makers.

May has really lost, not only her strength, but her credibility. She has been all-out swinging, but not delivering. Shredded with her ego and therefore when Corbyn and his team been modest in their approach they have gotten more sympathy and while May created apathy. This is the reason why so many turned Labour and lost faith in her. While Corbyn have showed character. Theresa May haven’t showed this. The Tories are bleeding now, therefore they need the support of DUP to be able to create a new cabinet.

The ones who voted the Tories because they feared the ‘Coalition of Chaos’, she will now run her own if she get an agreement and gives way to DUP. That the DUP Arlene Foster will use her leverage to eat of the plate and create hardships for May. The cost will come to the forefront the coming days. Even if the Tories have the senior Cabinet Ministers and the Tories have the formal minority government alone. They will still need to kiss the ring of Foster. She is not even trusted in Northern Ireland, so it is interesting that a bleeding Prime Minister begs from someone who is not trustworthy in NI.

This here will be saga of chaos and chaotic affairs, this is not a stronger United Kingdom government before negotiations with Brussels. Because the Tories have to keep their own shop at bay and also their new partnership with the NI DUP. This will be a fragile company… and how it goes will escalate the coming days. What we do know is that the Tories lost, May lost and the Corbyn’s of the world had a massive victory. Peace.

Opinion: Theresa May is wrong, no need to suspend Human Rights Laws, there are provisions for the State to keep their citizens safe!

I’m clear: if human rights laws get in the way of tackling extremism and terrorism, we will change those laws to keep British people safe. After the London Bridge attack, I said “enough is enough”, and that things need to change to tackle the threat we face. And tonight I set out what that means: longer prison sentences for people convicted of terrorist offences; deporting foreign terror suspects back to their own countries; restricting the freedom and movements of terrorist suspects when we have evidence to know they present a threat, but not enough to prosecute them in court” – Theresa May (06.06.2017 – at a rally at Slough, United Kingdom).

That Prime Minister Theresa May are obliged to amend her laws and ask for provisions to change them through Parliament. She is fine to do so and follow the procedures of the state, to make the most draconian laws able. As the Tories already before the grand-elections started to unleash laws of old, that we’re in the fashion of King Henry IV. These laws was amend and gives more powers to the government over the Parliament. So the Conservative Party in the United Kingdom has already shown force and will of taking the powers in their hands.

Theresa May isn’t the first to use terrorism to control and to suspend laws to gain more power. That is usually a sign of oppressive behavior and of the Orwellian society. Clearly, a human being like May should consider her words. If not she really wants to show that she can act so much, that she wants to take away freedom and liberties from her own citizens. Instead of believing in the set freedoms and provisions done by the United Nations Charter and ratified legal framework that the United Kingdom must have.

Still, there are enough signs that she doesn’t need to do so, as the provisions that are in place has not and will not overpower a sovereign, neither will it create interference of state control in troubling time. That is if she really cares about the liberties and the just societies the United Nations legal framework put in place.

OHCHR own Fact Sheet on Human Rights and Terrorism:

International and regional human rights law makes clear that States have both a right and a duty to protect individuals under their jurisdiction from terrorist attacks. This stems from the general duty of States to protect individuals under their jurisdiction against interference in the enjoyment of human rights. More specifically, this duty is recognized as part of States’ obligations to ensure respect for the right to life and the right to security” OHCHR, P: 8, 2008).

These challenges are not insurmountable. States can effectively meet their obligations under international law by using the flexibilities built into the international human rights law framework. Human rights law allows for limitations on certain rights and, in a very limited set of exceptional circumstances, for derogations from certain human rights provisions. These two types of restrictions are specifically conceived to provide States with the necessary flexibility to deal with exceptional circumstances, while at the same time—provided a number of conditions are fulfilled—complying with their obligations under international human rights law” (OHCHR, P: 23, 2008).

Than it is the United Nation Security Council own definition:

Security Council Resolution 1963 (2010) reiterates that effective counter-terrorism measures and respect for human rights are complementary and mutually reinforcing, and are an essential part of a successful counter-terrorism effort, and it notes the importance of respect for the rule of law so as to effectively combat terrorism. Resolution 1963 (2010) “thus encourages CTED to further develop its activities in this area, to ensure that all human rights issues relevant to the implementation of resolutions 1373 (2001) and 1624 (2005) are addressed consistently and even-handedly including, as appropriate, on country visits that are organized with the consent of the visited member State”.

(UNSC, 2015)

It is really serious when the United Nations and the OHCHR are saying there no issues between respecting the Human Rights Law legal framework and countering terrorism. Even if the resolutions and legal framework are critical and makes the state more bound to respect the terrorists. This still, doesn’t stop them from having provisions and having strict security in the Member States. The Member State themselves are putting forward rule of law and also has to incriminate inside their territory. However, the security is for the reason of the liberty and freedom of all citizens and all rights to all human beings. It is strange that Prime Minister Theresa May wants to suspend it, while the UNSC and OHCHR are saying it is possible.

That she has to go this far to gain support. Seems more like she could join Nigel Farage and Paul Nuttal, than following the Conservative leadership of the past. These words would not have come from David Cameron or anyone of his kind. This shows how fragile and how hell-bent is on winning this election by any means. That she has to promise on the final leap to suspend rule of law and take away basic human rigths. As the Police Service and Security Organization in our time cannot be able fight terrorism by the means and the values, that most of Europe see as natural. That the Police and Army get stronger laws and more draconian ones to make sure the United Kingdom can oppress and silence freedoms. Instead of fighting it through the means of strengthening the Police and the Intelligence, as the UK has one of the most sophisticated Security Organization in the world. It should have the capacity and if the Conservative had been serious about it, they would have fixed the issue during the last 8 years. Peace.
