“Higdefawian are so foolish; they did all of this to hold a festival to appease a tyrannical Isias dictatorship, to be utilized as a propaganda machine, and to closely track Eritreans in diaspora and at home. All to defend the mad dog dictator that has held Eritrea hostage for 32 years without a constitution, parliament, or elections. It’s incredible” (Asmara Reporter, 04.09.2023).
In out times, our very special times, you can wonder if there is intelligence or even wits. Because, there is a self-belief and the needs to project on everyone. The self victimization while blaming the grieving party. That’s what happens here from Shabait and the Authorities as they are getting demonstrations and getting answers from their exiled population in the diaspora.
The Eritrean Government (PFDJ) and President Isaias Afewerki knows the score perfectly well. As there is no freedom of speech or liberty within the Republic of Eritrea. There is only the decrees and the orders of the President. PIA has the final say and there is no laws binding him. Neither is there any sort of mechanism or system to keep him in check. Everything he touches become to gold and people just have to believe it. That is the law of the land.
This is why the State answers back like this after the violent demonstrations in Tel Aviv, Israel. We know similar things has happened in Norway, Sweden, Germany, Canada and such too. Where the 62nd Anniversary of the Armed Struggle for Eritrea’s Independence. These festivals have been hit and targeted by dissidents. Dissidents that is tired and had enough of the “one man” rule of Eritrea. They want another leadership and claims these festivals are run by the government and to monitor the Eritrean diaspora in the respective nations as well. Meaning there is a deeper underlining theme behind it. No, one should be shocked by that. When the Eritrean government expects taxes and remittance from the diaspora. If they don’t they would face possible severe ramifications when returning to Eritrea or their family members left behind could get into legal trouble. Therefore, I have not so much trust in the leadership or any sort of good fate in regard to the PFDJ.
Just read these statements from Shabait over the last few days…
“The recent event in Tel-Aviv and other countries is a new trend that stems from the political agenda of certain external forces. Indeed, many of the sponsors, ring-leaders and activists that pose as “political opponents of the Eritrean Government” are actually non-Eritrean. These are the true facts. In the event, the distortion of this reality to apportion blame to the Eritrean community in Israel and heap insult and demonization to the Government of Eritrea by certain media outlets and some Israeli officials is irresponsible and unacceptable” (Shabait – ‘Mob violence in Tel-Aviv’, 04.09.2023).
“The recent violent acts of harassment have unfolded against this backdrop and perspective. They are evidently prompted by, and designed to, achieve ulterior political objectives.
More pointedly:
The futile acts of subversion – perpetrated through surrogate and rogue groups – are in essence sponsored by major intelligence agencies (including MOSSAD). Bewildered, as they are, by the indomitable resilience of the Eritrean people, they desperately seek to foment division within its ranks. The details will be divulged in due time.
Vicious lies peddled about “Eritrean refugees” will also be fully debunked in the coming days to dispel distorted narratives and misperceptions” (Shabait – ‘Futile Acts of Subversion’ 05.09.2023).
We are just seeing how the State of Eritrea is navigating this. It changing the tale and the stories itself. By the time the winds changes. We can be rest assured that they are never operating like these, but secret enemies of the state, if not the arch nemesis of the Tigrayans. That’s just the mere game that the PFDJ and PIA is committed too. The vilification of Mekelle and blaming a certain ethnic group from Ethiopia is prevalent. Therefore, it happens in this instance too.
They are claiming the Blue Revolution or the Blue Movement has an origin from Tigray. If not they are using the colour and the flag from when Eritrea was a province under the rulers from Addis Ababa. That’s why they are even claiming it partly to be colonial and planned efforts to undermine the sovereignty of Eritrea. Which is ironic as the Eritrean state has involved itself in the conflict in the Northern Ethiopia and are still active there. Secondly, the #NoMore brigade and the modern AndNET has spread the message of unity between the Republics. So, to hear this in this regard. Shows that everything isn’t perfect between the nations just yet.
Some are even claiming that this is an extension or expansion of the Global Yiakl or the “Enough” movement. That might be true, but that organization or movement lost way when it sided with the Tigray in the conflict of the Northern Ethiopia. Instead of working directly to undermine and be hostile to the leadership of Asmara. That’s why the trust in the diaspora and beyond is weaker in regard to this. This is why I would think the Blue Revolution or Blue Movemenet is a own separate entity and a new outfit of renegade Eritrean diaspora who wants to demonstrate and retaliate against the government they fled from.
We know the State of Eritrea will blame others. They are not committed to honesty, transparency or accountability. That’s all foreign concepts for PIA and the PFDJ. If you have followed this regime they are hostile to outsiders and especially to the ones that dares to look in. Heck, if a professor or anyone else bothers to question or have lectures which isn’t fitting with the narratives. Expect the professor to go missing and be later found in a facility doing slave-work. That’s how things are operating and been done for years. It is the results and how things are run in Asmara.
That’s why you know the Eritrean diaspora is tired of the games. They have seen enough and is done with all the efforts of the state. A state that monitors them and taxes them. Eritrean government that follows and directs their diaspora. They are on the lookout and finding ways to profit of the ones fleeing for greener pastures. That’s what they do and they throw festivals just to continue to spew propaganda and ONE-PARTY affiliated messaging. Just so the Eritrean diaspora is reminded of what is important and key. The PFDJ never forgets and they want you to follow their command. Even if you are in the West and living another life. The Eritrean government still wants you under their wings and also give you warnings if you don’t comply to their objectives. Therefore, the whole just a “festival” and nothing else is a lie from Shabait and others. There is more to it and that’s why the Eritrean opposition and diaspora reacts like this. They know what is and what is supposed to do. These folks has seen it and most likely participated in similar events in the past. Just to reminiscence of what they left and get a taste of their homeland. No one can be shocked by that or think ill of that. No, that is justified, but the other usage of the “festivals” is where things get questionable and shows the sinister side of the State of Eritrea. As they uses any banner to ensure people knows the drill and where to listen. Because, if you don’t obey or follow command. It will have consequences and the ones participating should be aware of just that. Peace.
