FDU-Inkingi: “SOS Rwanda: Appeal to President Kagame to stop Criminal Plots against Political Prisoner Victoire Ingabire Umuhoza” (25.07.2018)

Today, Joseph Kabila, the man who has been done with second term on 19th December 2016, which means he has been now 1 year and 7 months on overtime. If you calculate it in days it has been 577 days. That is a long time. Kabila has clearly not only violated the constitution, but the rights for staying in office. He has postponed elections through 2016, done the same after a CENCO Agreement that was supposed to hold an election during the end of 2017. Which didn’t happen either. We are now in July 2018 and still no real signs of an election. Other than new timelines from CENI and a problematic trade off of machines from South Korea.
Therefore, his speech today wasn’t showing signs of anything, other than the usual suspect and defense of sovereign state. There was nothing said that couldn’t been said elsewhere. Kabila could have been any leader anywhere. The speech that doesn’t say if he standing himself as a candidate, if he is accepting the real opposition or not.
Extracted speech from Kabila:
“Today, our democratic model has proved its worth, and everyone who tried to improvise as a lesson-maker understood this well. The Congo has never given a lesson to anyone, it is not willing to receive in this area and especially not from those who murdered democracy in this country and elsewhere on the continent” (…) “it is neither the gratuitous and unfounded accusations nor indiscriminate pressures or threats, even less the arbitrary and unjust sanctions that will divert the Congolese from the path that they have drawn themselves voluntarily and freely” (…) “from the contingencies of external financing and, consequently, from blackmail of all kinds in order to create the best conditions for our people. give full legitimacy to those who win these consultations” (…) “Far from being complacent, let alone arrogance, it is a responsible political option that gives meaning to our independence and our national dignity” (…) “The Congo will live forever as a free nation and as a sovereign and independent state” (Joseph Kabila, 19.07.2018).
That Kabila should be more careful and wonder why he is still around, as he has been ruling this republic for two long. He has been the President since his father died and had years without a mandate in the first election in 2006 and than again in 2011. Therefore, with the end of 2016, he should have given the mantle to the next one. Instead, Kabila have done whatever he can linger in power. There is no signs of him stepping down. Especially considering he recently put UN Sanctioned Military Officials in high-ranking positions in the Army. Therefore, expect Kabila not to respect the Constitution or the people.
He shouldn’t be there 577 days on overtime. Kabila has nothing to give the Democratic Republic of Congo. He is only there too loot a bit more and secure his wealth, he is not there because he cares of the governance or service delivery. Kabila is there for selfish reasons and misuse power. The military and the rest is just his props.
The proof is in the pudding. Someone who has used insurgency, used all tricks and all excuses, the lack of funding for the Elections, the lack of care for running the government while becoming wealthy himself. He is showing his arrogance with his speech. There is nothing he will deliver, since he hasn’t been delivering before and will not start now.
He can use cool words, but when your still in power and not respecting the laws yourself. You should not speak of legitimacy, when your illegitimate yourself. Peace.

“It is hard for power to enjoy or incorporate humour and satire in its system of control” – Dario Fo
You would think that someone running a nation practically been running Rwanda since 1994. That a President of that kind would have the stature and the character to manage some criticism and some satire. Kagame has gotten rid of his opposition, both internally and abroad. He has taken real Presidential Candidates and put them in jail. Where they are rotting as we speak. So its not like there is a real democracy or real elections. The ones countering the image of Kagame is already silenced. This is just taking it to the next level.
In Rwanda from now on, if you mock or play for laughs by cartooning any Rwandan Patriotic Front figure or leader, you could be sent to jail or fined. This is the reality of the free speech and liberties within the 1000 hills Republic. Look!
“The new 335-article penal code might have decriminalised general defamation for which a journalist would previously be sent to a year in jail and a fine of Rwf5 million (about $5,800) on conviction–the Rwanda Media Commission is now mandated to handle the matter–but editorial cartoonists and satirists now need to thrive without depicting politicians and other leaders in a manner that mocks their deeds. As well as cartoons, the penal code has no place for humorists who write satirical articles that thrive on mockery of personalities, especially leaders, has been criminalised. “Writings or cartoons that humiliate Members of Parliament, ministers, other government authorities and security agencies when they are exercising their mandate will be punishable by law,” says Article 233 of the new penal code” (Seaman, 2018).
As we see here, the leeway for cartoons and satire have gone away. If you joke about Kagame your possibly detained or gotten a hefty fine. Nothing that the President wont do to save his image. A real spirit of a grand dictator. He just want praise and PR Stunts, not the real deal. Kagame just want the passion and blessings of the office, but not the sincere criticism of him. That is a no go!
Kagame is this weak, when his state puts in laws like this. Rwanda is silly and stupid, because the Presient wants this. He is afraid of how the media will make him look like a fool, but by pursuing laws like them make them just look dumb.
They are little whiny bitches who cannot manage questions or even satirical words. They don’t have the heart or the ability to stomach it.
Let me just end with a satirical piece from The Rwandan:
“As the former president prepared to depart Rwanda, a reporter asked him two questions: Had Kagame managed to visit the devastated regions of Rwanda by heavy rains and landslides that killed hundreds and left thousands homeless? Kagame replied that he did not have time for that” (…) “What are Kagame’s next destinations and when might he visit Rwanda again? Kagame told the reporter that ”it was none of his business.” (Himbara, 2018).
To write like that is now outlawed, because the RPF cannot manage this sort of jokes. That should be non of their business, but apparently it is. Peace.

Today was a day activists and especially Dr. Stella Nyanzi had a Woman’s March in Kampala. Going to the Inspector General of Police John Martins Okoth Ochola at the Police Headquarters to demonstrate with coffins to show the ignorance and the lack of care for all the kidnappings of woman in the Republic. Clearly, the Police Force was acting it is has done before. Instead of going into dialogue with the protesters. They went into warfare and skirmishes. As this little group was whisked away and the house of the IGP was shielded like a fortress with Police Officer in Anti-Riot Gear.
Some called this the Woman’s March, other in the slogan of Woman Lives Matters. 7 Activists was taken today, even some whose part of Chapter Four Uganda. Who also was protesting today. This shows that the National Resistance Movement (NRM) proves they are not there for freedom, liberty or even freedom of speech. As they are not allowed to speak up against the kidnappings.
All these activists was arrested with unlawful assembly and left on bond after being arrested earlier in the day. This was not at the same place as the demonstration. They were all taken to Jinja Road Police Station. That is typical of how these police officers works, as they usually does the same. To take the leaders from the protests and marches, even political rallies and drop them off further away. So the rest of leadership has to leave the premises and try to get them out on bond. As simplistic tactic to disperse the protesters.
They we’re peacefully walking to the Police Headquarters to deliver a letter and the police went all out. With all their gear and massive spark of outrage. They went into this with peaceful means. They came with coffins and a letter. To prove their point of the fragile lives, that is taken away and that the rampant kidnappings. This is happening a year after the deaths of woman in and around Entebbe. Which still is left unresolved, as the matter is on print. There is so many cases so many lives taken by the criminals and left played around.
That is the insecurity the NRM was supposed to fight and create. Instead it has gotten worse with time. The proof of with the rampant kidnappings and the deaths of innocent civilians. That is what it all boils down too. The demeaning way people are losing their lives, innocent woman who are just disappearing like garbage. When they are equals, citizens who has rights to justice and rule of law. Who are supposed to be protected and secured by the Police and other Security Organizations. The lack of that create a vacuum and the need for protest comes.
The need for organizing marches and question the powers for their lack of care becomes needed. Because the state isn’t answering to the plights of these people. They are left alone until they vanish, goes away and never returns. Used as pawns and used as bargaining chips to get a pay-off. That is what is happening. Peace.
