Opinion: DA as a “Rainbow Party” is dying as Maimane and Trollip resigns…

Democratic Alliance are really having a shortfall of good leaders, as the good ones are now leaving the party. As Helen Zille became the Federal Council Chair of the Party. Since then, the first big resignation was the DA leader and Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba. Today, the leader of the party, Mmusi Maimane resigned too. But his not alone, following him is Athol Trollip, the Federal Chairperson also resigned as the leader did.

Therefore, the idea of the rainbow party within the DA is dead. As the ones who aspired for this is steadily leaving. While the leadership is more and more centred around Zille. Whose White agenda comes clear as every day. That is in her writing over the years and also her comments in the press. To think otherwise is naive.

The DA as a white party and not the one envisioned by Maimane and others. That is evident by the recent acts, maybe or most likely the wisdom of Mandela was right all along. Someone who Maimane aspire to follow and make his own way to follow. Which he has shown respect to the legacy of Mandela every time he can in the past.

Because of that, I got to take a quote from Mandela in 2000 about the DA: “You must not be misled by a party that only cares for blacks on the eve of the elections.” “No white party can run this country … no matter how they cover up by getting a few black stooges, they (the whites) remain the bosses … they remain a white party” (Nelson Mandela – ‘Mandela lashes out at DA’, 12.02.2000, News24 archives).

With today’s action and the return of Zille. The four years of Maimane seems like blur and chapter that is ready to buried. Since, Zille is ready to take over the mantle again, as she was the leader from 2007 to 2015. Now, she’s back and surely by her active role wants her ways and her narratives again. Just as she has undermined and said that “black leadership” had to be reviewed of the party.

Zille wrote this in May “My biggest mistake in DA was to contribute in promoting Black leadership in DA and propelling both Mmusi Maimane and other Black provincial DA leaders to the echelons of power within DA. By doing so I lead DA to the trap of racial politics and promotion of skin colour over skill and talent” (Helen Zille – ‘I regret promoting Black leadership in DA – Helen Zille’ 27.05.2019). Meaning, she wanted it white again. There are no other way to see it. The DA as a mixed and rainbow party is going away. It is returning back to the form of the past.

Just as Maimane stated at the Press Conference today: “Make no mistake, along the journey there have been many difficulties. I fought battles with Helen Zille, especially regarding her comments – and the impact of her comments – as it pertained to colonialism. These sentiments did not help build trust between black and white South Africans, and they undermined the project the party was engaged in. Building trust and changing an organisation takes time. Yet despite these challenges along the way, we were making great progress. However, over the past months, it has become quite clear to me that there exists a grouping within the DA who do not see eye to eye with me, and do not share this vision for the party and the direction it was taking. There has been for several months a consistent and coordinated attempt to undermine my leadership and ensure that either this project failed, or I failed. This extended to the smear campaign that was run on the front pages of an Afrikaans weekly paper in an attempt to destroy my name and my integrity” (Maimane, 23.10.2019).

Therefore he did the right move and because of this, as Zille rose back to the Central Leadership a few days ago, as he continued with this: “And in the end we have come to the conclusion that despite my best efforts, the DA is not the vehicle best suited to take forward the vision of building One South Africa for All. It is with great sadness that in order to continue the fight for this vision I so strongly believe in, and the country I so dearly love, I today tender my resignation as leader of the Democratic Alliance” (Maimane, 23.10.2019).

Today, Maimane did the right thing. Just like Mashaba already did and Trollip followed suit at the same press conference. Today is the day, I believe in the rainbow vision of DA. That is gone, as Zille is rising back and taking control. The times of hopeful vision and of a uniting factor there is gone. She’s not that kind, self-obsessed and racist individual, who will not build anything good.

Maimane could have continued on his vision and built on the foundation he made, but the DA and Zille didn’t want to continue that. They wanted to embark back in time and return to the DA of Mandela’s vision. They want the White Party back and surely today they have gotten it. As the ones who stood for change and unity for all are all leaving the party. One by one they are leaving. Hopefully finding a new home where they can continue to build on that vision. So that it won’t get lost. Peace.

Opinion: Maimane should resign now…

“I have said it often that if you don’t see that I’m black you don’t see me. My hope is not that we are a colour blind society, but we build opportunities for all and a nation where we can see our diversity expressed in its beauty” – Mmusi Maimane (Bokamoso | South Africans have a shared responsibility to overcome racism, 28.08.2015).

Mmusi Maimane is in an impossible position as the leader of opposition and the leader of the Democratic Alliance (DA) in South Africa. However, with the election and the powerful return of Hellen Zille in the federal leadership of the party.

The values, the ethics and the leader should have enough insights to know what the party know has shown. They have shown that the values that Maimane is in stark contrast to Zille. Therefore, her sudden return are backfiring the works Maimane has done over the years.

That its why its time for Maimane to follow Johannesburg Mayor Herman Mashaba and resign from the DA. Maimane shouldn’t be involved or function with the likes of Zille.

So, we clearly see her motivation for her return. We already know what kind of leader she is and what she stands for. That has been evident for years, therefore, her acts and her words is despicable. That is why Maimane, who is tarnished by her, should follow Mayor Mashaba. That’s if he has integrity and guts. Because, he should show character and will, which he has proven with his continued fight for justice, rule of law and against corruption.

That is why Maimane now has a big challenge ahead of him. That is if he wants to be a voice for a rainbow nation, be a voice for a tolerant society and stand for equality for all people. Because, if he stands by Zille, he is trading his ethics and beliefs for a position. That is why Mashaba has shown him the way.

This will will cost Maimane, it will be hard, but his integrity and his stances will be intact. They will be true and not just empty slogans. If he really believes she is making DA a better party. Because, she already believes that Maimane has gone in the wrong direction. Therefore, she had to return and know wants her ways again. Than, the party will not be the diverse or the one of the image of Maimane. That is common knowledge. If not his blind, because he fears what happens when he resigns or steps away from the DA.

He should also know that, especially if he believes in his own words: “The struggle for a nonracial South Africa began in the early 1900s and continues to this day. The diverse people of our country will know neither peace nor broad prosperity until that ideal is achieved. Our historic agreement of 1994 was that South Africa belongs to all who live in it. The DA’s project is to promote that vision and continue the struggle for a nonracial South Africa. Our rich diversity is part of what makes this country so fascinating and beautiful. We should embrace it. Acknowledging diversity doesn’t make you a racist. On the contrary, it is the first step to embracing it. Apartheid will only be truly defeated when only one race remains: the human race” (Mmusi Maimane – ‘Bokamoso: We apologise for the error – Mmusi Maimane’ 29.10.2018).

He can still work for the same cause, he can build his own or together with others. If he resigns other DA leaders might join him and stand behind there. They might follow him elsewhere. As he has a capacity and already a name. A rising star, that many looks up. That is why Maimane should do the right thing. As the DA is going backwards and will be tarnished with Zille in the federal leadership. To think otherwise is not acceptable.

Maimane lost today, but he can win tomorrow, if he steps down and revamps his career elsewhere. That will cost, but his integrity and his ethical backbone can continue. But that will not believable, if he hangs around Zille. Peace.

Opinion: Degraded yet again, Zuma ordered to pay legal fees!

Former South African President Jacob Zuma has today lost in Court as he battles the State Capture case and bountiful of other charges, as his time in the limelight and being the Executive is ceased indefinitely.

Zuma has gone from being the king-maker, the almighty dealer and corrupt state official, the high-ranking official who secured his fellow family and cronies jobs, tenders and work with the State Owned Enterprises. Now, he is battling in Court to defend his actions. Clearly, as the time goes by, that it is not going well. He is not sipping tea in Saxonworld anymore; he is lingering between trials and awaiting further judgment.

The judges have even ordered that the three previous occasions, when the courts has allowed it to be covered by the state, have been revised. Meaning, the old legal fees and the ones that has been paid by the state has to be recovered from the previous President. That is a costly affair, as he is paying back legal fees into early 2005 or so. We are in the midst of 2018 and there are more to come.

That the previous President has come into this bargain is all on his own. It is his own intention and miscalculation, as of one point, it didn’t seem to ever backfire. The planned corruption and the grand corruption done while in office. While now, as times goes by and the skeletons are out of the closet. The reality is dawning.

The reality is actually damning. He is pinched, his friends has abandoned him and left him alone. The previous ally and now President Cyril Ramaphosa, didn’t even try to counter sue or try to test the case put forward by Economic Freedom Fighters and Democratic Alliance. As the EFF and DA got a final revenge after the hardships for justice in this case.

Malema must be jolly, as he was stabbed in the back for supporting the previous President as the Youth League and Wonder-Boy, who was cast astray as he challenged him after the anointing. Therefore, this is a payback for the time; he was got banned from the African National Congress (ANC). This here is at last a little vindication for Julius.

Certainly, Zuma has gone from vast fortune and power, into the unsure oblivion and misfortune. Where his allies has vanished, where his cronies has fled and the ones thriving man are now struggling. Now, he has to cough up money and surely empty deposits, maybe even sell real estate too. Also, not marry another wife for a while to bear the costs of legal jeopardy he is in at the moment. Since the state will not cover the expenses anymore.

Zuma is fallen, now it is just to find out how hard and what that counts they will charge him with and how deep the state will go, since he wasn’t in it alone. Zuma was doing with the ANC and the more that is out. The more people are implicated, not only in the Gupta Family, but also within the leadership of the ANC. That is the reality and time will tell, because Zuma was the big-man, but not big-man alone on his quest. There was A Tribe Called Quest following him and doing as his asked. He was Q-Tip and the others followed the pursuit to happiness. Peace.

Opinion: Nene Nhanhla has fallen – He is the first of plenty!

If President Cyril Ramaphosa thinks that this will let him of the hook. He is color blind to the efforts and the misuse of power, which was done in the time of Jacob Zuma. Zuma and his cabinet, many, plenty of the Ministers and Members of Parliament was connected with the Gupta’s. It wasn’t only Nene Nhanhla who visited frequently and had connections there. Therefore, the State Capture Inquiry and Commission will dig into more dirt, than the African National Congress (ANC) really wants to reveal. They might even stumble on the humble, even to the people the President doesn’t want to touch.

This because the Guptas and Zuma’s spoiling of the state, their grand corruption wasn’t minor efforts or limited to a few fellow parliamentarians and ministers, no it was on all levels from Local Government to the National Assembly. That is why, Ramaphosa should be worried about all the ones in the sphere of Gupta’s, as they were plenty and more big-shots will have to resign.

That Nene Nhanhla resigned earlier this morning today, but Tito Mboweni was called yesterday to be confirmed as the new Finance Minister. This shows again, just like in the Gupta inspired cabinet changes, there are something fishy going in the ANC. They are trying to play it out and make Nene the fall guy, but they are badly executing it, as their timeline doesn’t even make sense.

We can wonder what will happen to David “Des” Van Rooyen, Pravin Gordhan, Jeff Radebe, Jonas Mcebisi and Blade Nzimande. These are just a few brief people that could be under fire for the same reasons as Nene and their close relationship to the Gupta’s. As this wasn’t something that happen in the deep shadows in a thief’s den, but in the chambers of government and meetings at the compound of the Gupta’s at Saxxonworld in Johannesburg.

Therefore, we should expect more people coming forward, maybe even striking ones, that will also show their greed and will to loot for quick cash. Greed always brings the worst of people, no matter how noble they seem. The opportunity for easy money to pocket comes and when foreign investors gives way. They might have said “Yes”, especially when they looked up to Zuma and so no chance in hell of paying any costs of these money. Not like it looked like a possible investigation or summons for their actions.

However the tide changed and now the uncovering is happening. Nene is not last, neither the biggest. If they are really following the money and the power who gotten eaten by greed. They will cover more people, than Ramaphosa might want to let go. As his loyal comrades are wiped out and he will be let alone. Maybe he will even be implicated, as these cases usually spin-off in all circles, as the bounds of dirty money ends everywhere and on any plate.

Nene is not last, unless this is their fall-guy to wind the investigations down. Peace.

EFF Rejects the Mining Charter (28.09.2018)

While indicted, Zuma still get’s paid in full!

There are something seriously wrong, as the State Capture Commission is on the works and the African National Congress (ANC) are slowing the process, as the Gupta businesses, the direct state corruption and all the back-logs of cases against the former South African President continues. This case has prolonged and pushed back, as the indictment of the previous President took so many years.

That is why Jacob G. Zuma are now in trouble, but the state is not clearing the shop. They are not going hard on the evidence or anything seemingly, as Zuma didn’t do this business and transactions alone. Zuma did it with the help of ANC as well. To enrich himself and his family, use the foreign investors family and state owned enterprises as vaults of funds to spend.

Zuma and his works for years are in the Courts combined with certain corruption scandals, but not all of them. We can wonder who will be implicated and whose family members that will be touched. As the Republic of South Africa and ANC should want to move-on, but they still need clarity of the crimes and the stolen funds. As the long time misuse of government funds is known, the amounts of scandals and possible embezzlement should clearly cost for the former President.

However, just as the Commission is doing its work, they are giving the bonafide thief a pension of 3 millions a year. We can just wonder what kind of spell Zuma has done to the ANC. As they accepted his business and his toying around with government funds. That was accepted, the ANC Executive Committee and others didn’t stop it. They didn’t silence it, Zuma and his associates was allowed to do so. Even as the ‘No Confidence’ votes came to the National Assembly, but the ANC stayed loyal for so long.

Therefore, the latest movement of giving him a pension is an insult, as the investigations, as the State Capture and the Corruption Cases are unfolding. The Previous President should be prosecuted and answer for what he did, together with his associates, even if that hit the core of ANC. That is if the ANC cares about justice and rule of law. They can answer as, we know Zuma wasn’t alone and they shielded him, because they all earned on these transactions. The Gupta, The Nkandla and the Arms Trade are all in same fashion. Zuma is the head, but the ANC accepted it and used the Ministries to vouch for him.

They are now even paying him fortunes for his retirement, as Zuma are now answering for his crimes. He has to be sentenced and in bracelets. For now he is free, but hopefully Zuma will pay for his actions. As he stole from the state coffers and made himself a village. That is a crime and the ANC should also take responsibility. It is the time to do so, Zuma is the head, but the party was behind him. They kept him and accepted his actions.

Zuma is a corrupt politician and was known for being so, still the ANC promoted his leadership and his actions. That shall be remembered. He deserves a trial and answer for what he did, but not alone, the rest of his associates should do to. Peace.
