Sinclair Media Broadcasting Company, which these days are under fire and for all the right reasons. It isn’t strange that President Donald J. Trump are defending the Media Conglomerate, it is working overtime in his favor. Just as the same company had a Sinclair PAC funneling money to his campaign and ads. This sort of stories you cannot make up, this is a Media House owning local-media and TV-Stations all over the United States. In total about 173 Stations in 80 markets. That is a giant possibility, that many Americans has seen or heard stories that was manufactured for the Presidency.
Just as Pam Vogel reported on 29th March 2018: “Here is a full transcript from one of the segments (there are slight variations among the videos): “Hi, I’m [name] with [station]. Our greatest responsibility is to serve our communities. I am extremely proud of the quality, balanced journalism that [station] produces, but I’m concerned about the troubling trend of irresponsible, one-sided news stories plaguing our country. The sharing of biased and false news has become all too common on social media. More alarming, some media outlets publish these same fake stories without checking facts first. Unfortunately, some members of the media use their platforms to push their own personal bias and agenda to control exactly what people think. This is extremely dangerous to our democracy. At [station], it is our responsibility to report and pursue the truth. We understand the truth is neither politically left nor right. Our commitment to factual reporting is the foundation of our credibility now more than ever. But we are human, and sometimes our reporting might fall short. If you believe our coverage is unfair, please reach out through our [station] website by clicking on “Content Concerns.” We value your comments and we will respond back to you. We work very hard to seek the truth and strive to be fair, balanced, and factual. We consider it our honor and privilege to responsibly deliver the news every day. That Sinclair is using this script and using this on all their stations. Showing that this is evident of their manufacturing consent and news. They are themselves creating fake-news, by using same script all-over. There is no afterthought, there is no personal touch or even looking into the facts. The American Local News, should be if the local Pizzaria is with a virus, if there been a shooting at the parking-lot of Wall-Mart. That is the local news, that the nearest airport is closed because of bad weather. Not reading what is fitting for the government and the owners of Sinclair.
Just as Ryan Holiday wrote in 2012 this: “Media manipulation exploits the difference between perception and reality. The media was long a trusted source of information for the public. Today, all the barriers that made it reliable have broken down. Yet the old perceptions remain. If a random blog is half as reliable as a New York Times article that was fact checked, edited and reviewed by multiple editors, it is twice as easy to get coverage on. So manipulators (myself included) play the volume game. We know that if we can generate enough online buzz people will assume that where there is smoke there is fire…and the unreal becomes real. This all happens because of the poor incentives. When readers don’t PAY for news, the creators of the news don’t have any loyalty to the readers either. Everything is read one off, passed around on Facebook and Twitter instead of by subscription. As a result, there is no consequence for burning anyone. Manipulators can deceive journalists because journalists are not held responsible for deceiving readers” (Ryan Holiday – ‘What is Media Manipulation?–A Definition and Explanation’ 16.07.2012, Forbes).
So, Sinclair has no issues with Media Manipulation of the public, as they come from credible local sources, that people trusts. Because they are made by local hosts and anchors, who you can meet on the mall tomorrow. Therefore, their day-job shouldn’t be lying to you or read directly from a state-made script. It is expected that they read from the teleprompter, but not the same as the 173 others. Then it isn’t local, but nation-wide, planned programming. The Sinclair has already done their Terror-Segment, that John Oliver shamelessly attacked with vigor and righteously so. Because, this shows the manner of the Sinclair Media, the propaganda and media manipulation, that they are currently infesting on doing to the American public. They are willingly accepting it too.
A small excerpt from Noah Chomsky’s book Media Control: “So we need something to tame the bewildered herd, and that something is this new revolution in the art of democracy: the manufacture of consent. The media, the schools, and popular culture have to be divided. For the political class and the decision makers they have to provide them some tolerable sense of reality, although they also have to instill the proper beliefs. Just remember, there is an unstated premise here. The unstated premise-and even the responsible men have to disguise this from themselves-has to do with the question of how they get into the position where they have the authority to make decisions. The way they do that, of course, is by serving people with real power. The people with real power are the ones who own the society, which is a pretty narrow group. If the specialized class can come along and say, I can serve your interests, then they’ll be part of the executive group. You’ve got to keep that quiet. That means they have to have instilled in them the beliefs and doctrines that will serve the interests of private power. Unless they can master that skill, they’re not part of the specialized class. So we have one kind of educational system directed to the responsible men, the specialized class. They have to be deeply indoctrinated in the values and interests of private power and the state-corporate nexus that represents it. If they can achieve that, then they can be part of the specialized class. The rest of the bewildered herd basically just have to be distracted. Turn their attention to something else. Keep them out of trouble. Make sure that they remain at most spectators of action, occasionally lending their weight to one or another of the real leaders, who they may select among” (Noam Chomsky – ‘Media Control’ P: 14, 2002).
If this doesn’t seem like the reality right now, like the state of affairs, like the manner of the media. Especially media house like Sinclair, who keeps everyone like herds, even their own staff, who reads and follows protocol. Have to offer money to their PAC, read of the Script and Air Segments that has nothing to do with Dallas or Fort Worth, even Chicago. But, hey the owners of Sinclair orders to drop, the “news” that favors the Republican Party and Trump. Therefore, you got to do it.
Noam Chomsky call this Manufacturing Consent, but Ryan Holiday calls it Media Manipulation, both have been done. This is seriously a matter of issue for the First Amendment, but also for the lack of control of the media. This is no difference from propaganda and neither state controlled TV Channels that are saying what their dictator tell them to say. There is no thought, no journalism involved, just mere AI Robots reading the news. Monkey’s with make-up could have done the job and delivered the stated statements to the markets and the stations of Sinclair. That they do this for the benefit of the power and the President. Shows how merciless and how the lost democratic value, these stations are.
They are not even trying and maybe they can’t because the ownership stops them. The owners want their message out and not undermine the leadership of the day. They want to cry wolf, they want to say dog and they want to stop dissidents of their leader. That is what it seems. This is manipulation and manufacturing consent.
This is strange to see, but the freedom of speech is lacking, the ethics of these journalists and neither the basic understanding of reporting is down. Maybe their moral, but they need their day-job, so they cannot risk it. That is why they are accepting this core, even this vile attempt to undermine the whole industry, by manipulation and manufacturing consent, without thinking or conspiring to think for themselves.
