Tchad: How many generals do Gen. Kaka need?

“Mahamat Kaka has taken another step by appointing seven general officers to the rank of major general, marking another escalation in the wave of military promotions. This hasty action, characterized by tribal and anarchic appointments, testifies to a growing tension within the power in place. Indeed, in the space of just two months, Kaka has appointed more generals than Deby in twenty years, bringing the total to more than 300 generals appointed in recent weeks. Based on Tchad One’s cross-checking database, the number of generals in the army has just reached the figure of 1,000 general officers this afternoon” (Tchad One – ‘Kaka’s Last Decree Before Sleeping: Seven Military Bombed Major General’ 05.07.2023).

I don’t know about you… but it is just days ago where a soldier tricked the generals and ensured himself a massive promotion. Until things unfolded and his now detained for fraud to become a General in Tchad.

The military junta and second-generation Deby are using his power to stay in office. The authorities in N’Djamena are trying to find relevance and ensure everyone is under his tent. The President only knows violence and the army, which is why his promoting so many people to become Generals.

It isn’t strange in the grand scheme of things that a youth and young soldier was able to trick the system. When the authorities, the military and state itself promotes that many people in the army. They are filling up the ranks and buying loyalty this way. Though you can wonder who they will command and what sort of military structure will be sustainable with that many generals.

A general has authority and a mandate within the army. A general should lead a partition of troops and be the army commander of somebody. Unless the current Head of State and General himself… just does this to have people on his payroll. It’s a foolish system and could cause uncertainty.

Gen. Kaka is making risky business, which could cause more friction and pressure on his head. Since these people are getting prestige and honours on their names. Even if they are not qualified or fit to be it. It takes a certain type of individual to be a general and a man of war. That isn’t fitted for everyone. Therefore, appointing, promoting and ensure so many people get this… is a quest into uncharted territories.

We can only follow this and wonder what’s the endgame for Gen. Kaka. Peace.

Tchad: The Soldier that tricked the Generals…

The story unfolding before our eyes is worthy of a novel. Timan Yaya Seid, who was promoted to General by Mahamat Kaka just 24 hours ago, was captured by military intelligence and taken into custody, according to our sources. The reason for his arrest is related to charges of forgery and use of forgery, as well as usurpation of military title. The young officer conspired with relatives to put his name on the list of generals awaiting promotion, taking advantage of the incompetence of the presidency and the lack of back and forth control. He then went to the Chief of Staff of Kaka to get the insignia (visible below in the image with General Bichara Issa). After the excitement aroused by this appointment on the web, the presidency carried out checks and discovered the deception. She then dispatched the military intelligence services in pursuit of Timan Yaya Seid. According to concordant sources from Tchad One, a decree for dismissal from the army is being drafted” (Tchad One, 01.07.2023).

This here story is something else. The junta government of N’Djamena was fooled by one of their own. They are ruled by the unelected second generation Deby, Gen Mahamat Kaka. A man who has control because of the army and not because of the civilians. Therefore, to get anywhere in Tchad, you need to do it through the army.

That’s what Timan Yaya Seid had understood. A young soldier who saw how unprofessional and biased the system was. In such a manner, that he was able to jump the line and get promoted in swift speed. He was able to go from lower rank into becoming a general. That’s what he did and he made it too.

He has since then been apprehended, arrested and awaiting charges. Certainly the folly will cost the man. The soldier will be made a number on, because he dared to challenge the ranks. That will sting and shows how malfunctioning things are… when a 26 year old man can figure it all out and get promoted to be General.

In one moment he had been crowned and would have been a proper army commander. He wouldn’t be a soldier or someone who you can easily order around. No, people would respect and honour him. Since he had the stripes and the title on his name.

Now after the arrest and possible charges. His being soon dismissed from the army. However, he has proven how bad the system is and how you can rig. The soldier could have possibly been in-charge and gotten huge responsibilities, if the authorities or the military intelligence services didn’t capture the fraud. Nevertheless, he still had the title and got the handshake of a fellow General. That’s saying something…

One last thing…. This the sort of story that deserves a movie. It would be fun to watch and you would wonder how he was able to pull it all off. Peace.
