Cameroon: Violent methods to disperse the CRM demonstrations yesterday!

“the supporters of the mrc in douala organized aggressively and challenged the security forces” – René Emmanuel Sadi, Minister of Communication (CRTweb, 26.01.2019).

Yesterday, the Cameroon Renaissance Movement (MRC/CRM) had a plan to demonstrate yesterday in Douala. This was a planned demonstration from Maurice Kamto. Who still works to challenge the previous election and rigging on behalf of dictator Paul Biya.

Before, yesterday, we know the Biya administration have attacked the public in the anglophone region for long, the prolonged oppression public there. Biya has used the army to silence, burn villages and detain the leadership of the opposition there in the anglophone region. That has been going on, as well, as the ones who needed to flee or go into exile because of the situation that is created there. Therefore, we knew before yesterday rally. That the Biya government have no trouble sending soldiers and armed personnel against unarmed civilians. They do it all the time in certain parts of the Republic anyway.

There been reports of arrests about 100 people yesterday. The authorities was certainly ordered to shut it down. The authorities used live-bullets against unarmed civilians. We don’t know how many who got shot or how many died by yesterdays actions. However, this action show what sort of intent and use of power, the state does to its citizens. This a government that has gotten away with it in the Anglophone region. So, certainly, the expect to get away with this too.

The authorities have no claimed in the aftermath that the demonstration and rally was illegal. Also, claiming there was no use of live-force against the civilians attending this. However, the realities on the ground, the videos shown to the world. Show the vile attempts of shutting down the opposition.

There is also reports of the authorities has shot Michele Ndoki and Celestin Djamen, they are both in the hospital now. In Yaounde, the authorities also used force, tear-gas and road-blocks to stop the demonstrations. Therefore, the state uses all tools at their disposal to stop it.

While, that was happening in Douala and Yaounde, the same authorities used force against civilians in the South West Region, where they killed 10 people.

So, we know, they have no honour or care, the authorities uses all vile ways to stop people from going against the government. No voice is allowed. No one is supposed to question or even challenge it. If they do, they will face consequences. Peace.

‘Forgotten crisis’ in Cameroon, with attacks on the rise, millions in need of ‘lifesaving assistance’ (25.01.2019)

With needs rising by 31 per cent in a year, the UN today estimates that around 4.3 million people in Cameroon – one in six people and mostly women and children – require lifesaving assistance.

NEW YORK, United States of America, January 25, 2019 – Around 4.3 million Cameroonians, mostly women and children, are now in need of lifesaving assistance, the UN announced on Thursday, presenting it’s 2019 Humanitarian Response Plan for the West African country, in coordination with the Government and aid partners.

UN Resident and Humanitarian Coordinator for Cameroon, Ms. Allegra Baiocchi, and Cameroon’s Civil Protection Director, Ms. Yap Mariatou, warned at the launch in Geneva, that the was a drastic increase in humanitarian need across the country.

“Hundreds of thousands of people on Cameroon’s territory need urgent assistance and protection,” Ms. Baiocchi said, adding that “attacks against civilians have increased and many conflict-affected people are surviving in harsh conditions without humanitarian assistance due to the dramatic underfunding of the response. Cameroon today can no longer be a forgotten crisis; it needs to be high on our agenda.”

With needs rising by 31 per cent in a year, the UN today estimates that around 4.3 million people in Cameroon – one in six people and mostly women and children – require lifesaving assistance.

The joint Humanitarian Response Plan 2019 seeks $299 million to assist 2.3 million vulnerable people, more than half of those in need. Last year, a $320 million response plan for Cameroon was only 40 per cent funded.

The aggravation of the conflict in western regions is the main driver behind the increase, with armed attacks in the far north, and new refugees coming from the Central African Republic also increasing demand for urgent aid.

Insecurity and violence in these regions have uprooted 437,000 people from their homes and forced over 32,000 to seek refuge in neighbouring Nigeria. Four million people are affected by the conflict in Cameroon’s west, says the UN.

In addition, due to the deteriorating situation in northeast Nigeria, more than 10,000 new refugees arrived in Cameroon in 2018, bringing the number of Nigerian refugees to 100,000.

Needs ‘likely to increase in coming years’

“The Government of Cameroon is responsible for the protection and wellbeing of its people and has been at the forefront of the response with its national and international partners,” added Ms. Yap Mariatou. “We acknowledge the scale of the different crises we face, and we encourage all the actors to work in close partnership to address the needs of Cameroonians and of the people we host.”

“Humanitarian needs are likely to increase in coming years,” said Ms. Baiocchi, adding that budgets had failed in increase adequately in recent years.

“Underfunding means we cannot do all we can to make a difference in the life of most vulnerable people across Cameroon, whether it is the girl who is missing school due to violence, the displaced mother struggling to feed her children, or the father who has lost his entire family.”

UNHCR deplores forced refugee returns from Cameroon (18.01.2019)

An estimated 9,000 Nigerians fled across the border into Cameroon earlier in the week after militants attacked and ransacked the small border town of Rann in Nigeria’s Borno State.

GENEVA, Switzerland, January 18, 2019 – UNHCR, the UN Refugee Agency, is extremely alarmed by reports of the forced return by Cameroon this week of several thousand refugees into violence-affected Borno State in northeast Nigeria. This follows the forced return of 267 Nigerian refugees on 16 January. They had crossed into Cameroon in 2014. We are gravely concerned for the safety and well-being of all these people.

An estimated 9,000 Nigerians fled across the border into Cameroon earlier in the week after militants attacked and ransacked the small border town of Rann in Nigeria’s Borno State. The militants went on a rampage by targeting military installations, civilians and humanitarian facilities. At least 14 people are reported killed.

“This action was totally unexpected and puts lives of thousands of refugees at risk,” said UN High Commissioner for Refugees Filippo Grandi. “I am appealing to Cameroon to continue its open door and hospitable policy and practices and halt immediately any more returns and to ensure full compliance with its refugee protection obligations under its own national legislation, as well as international law.”

Cameroon is currently home to more than 370,000 refugees, including some 100,000 from Nigeria.

Cameroon: President Biya New Years Eve Message – Is he a droid or just heartless?

With the knowledge of the rampant attacks with all sorts of weapons and oppression in the Anglophone part of Cameroon. Reading the translated New Years Eve Message from President Paul Biya. He can either be a droid with no heart, a heartless machine who works for the betterment of himself and his cronies. If not, he is a person without any heart, who has no trouble ordering mercenaries, soldiers and local government to assault these regions. That is what is happening.

I have seen the pictures of burning villages, the dead citizens with machetes and gun-wounds. The steady reports of violence in the Anglophone region, all through 2018. The continuation of a internal conflict and supported from the Biya Government, as he is living lavish in exile in Switzerland. While the Anglophone region is burning and bruised.

Look!

In a spirit of national harmony, I decided to set up a “National Disarmament, Demobilization and Reintegration Committee” to avoid the use of extreme measures. The duties of this body, which is under the authority of the Prime Minister, are to organize, supervise and manage the disarmament, demobilization and reintegration of ex-combatants of Boko Haram and armed groups in the North-West and South-West Regions willing to respond favourably to the hand of peace extended to them. I wish to emphasize that this initiative provides a dignified way out for ex-combatants and prospects for social reintegration, and should pave the way for a return to calm and normalcy. On the other hand, measures will be taken as soon as possible to give the local communities of our country the powers that would enable them to play a greater role in the management of local affairs. At the same time, the promotion of bilingualism and multiculturalism will be fast-tracked. Furthermore, I intend to continue the dialogue initiated with people of good-will to bring about lasting peace. Paradoxically, one of the effects of the unfortunate events that have been affecting social life in the North-West and South-West Regions for months now may surprise many of us. The populations of these two regions have noticed the sincerity of the intentions of authorities concerning the new powers delegated to local communities and the solidarity of the rest of the Nation towards them. My wish is that, eventually, national unity will be strengthened” (President Paul Biya – New Years Message, 31.12.2018).

I have hard time to understand, how he could do this and say this. Like he means this. That the new powers will be better, than what is there now. As long as the Central Government are sending soldiers, mercenaries and whoever else to destroy the Anglophone region. There will be reactions, but also more direct destruction of humanity there.

That the President have to know this, surely he gets the report about the activity of the soldiers there. They are maybe on the way to get the locals to lose their guns, but still it is the soldiers from the state who does the worst. They are the ones burning villages, killing civilians and stopping ordinary life. As people are running into the forest, even crossing borders into Nigeria into safety. Because they are afraid of the National Army, the one that supposed to support them and keep them safe.

That is why this President cannot have a heart, he cannot be human. He has to be a droid or some sort of machine. He cannot be breathing air, the natural oxygen or whatever that gives flowers life with the green-house effect. Because something else has to fuel his soul or his digital fragments that is looking like human like.

Paul Biya cannot be human, knowing about these crimes and acting this way. He cannot, unless, he is heartless. Peace.
